The Rough Days
When you order a carpet or buy one you would not believe who makes them. Think about
it. No one really knows that children make them. Who are these children?Well a group of
children that work are invisible as we speak. A group of children at a factory name Hussain
Khanwork and make carpets that you might order or buy. Think about those children with no
love or care. However one problem is that there are more of them that are invisible in the world.
About 218 million children in the world is a child slave.I will be writing about the child slave’s
right to an education, the hope of being free and their horrible working conditions.Canadians
should all have to know about child labour so that everyone can take action and stop it.
One problem that people do not know is that the children have the right to an education.
However they can not because they are denied."They work sunrise to sunset. For their work they
sometimes receive one rupee a day-more often not even that" (D'Adamo, 79).This means instead
of going to school they have to work. "Reading writing and arithmetic, I'm just hoping it will all
stick, it’s my right to learn and obtain and education, when I'm done, I'll go on vacation (Sydney
Schmit 26 Every Human has Rights). This is a poem that almost represents what you do at
school. It relates to having an education. "That’s not true. I can read" (D'Adamo, 74). This shows
the some child labourers can read. They knew how to read before becoming a child labour and
try to remember how to. So now you know that kids have the right to an education but they are
denied. However a problem is that we do not know how they feel about this situation of being a
child labour.
A fact that people do not knowhow a child feels to be a child slave. So we need to be
aware that how the children feel can cause their life. Some children do not have any hope of
being free from child labour. However some children do have hope.An Example is a little girl
name Maria in a book called Iqbal. "She made a big kite, with long plumes tied to the tail"
(D'Adamo, 64). The kite represents freedom for ever child wanting to be free of getting out of
the horrible condition there in. Every child can accomplish bravery in them some where and
stand up for one another. Just when Maria made that big kite everyone stood up for her and said,
"Send Me Too." Each of those children stand up for one another and became each others

family. "Listen my children, listen to me. Each of you was born, crafted from Earth. Bonded to
the land, Sea and sky and from the moment you a brew your first breath. You were free" (Lauren
Aver 1 Every Human has rights). For people in our country everyone needs to know how the
children feel to be underfed and alone. Imagine you were a child in child labour that had no
family. Imagine you taken their place and see how there over lifeis.
Regardless of the horrible conditions child labour work in, children in child labour work
in places where there rights are denied. “The children underfed, work from dawn to dusk,
squatting for long hours on low benches in front of their looms, breathing dust and lint."
(D'Adamo,VI). The kids work chained and they are called numskulls. They also are underfed by
their masters. The children are forced to work, sold like objects and sent to tombs with no air or
food/water. The house of where they work and live is a "big house, half stone, half sheet iron and
a dirty courtyard (D'Adamo, 1). We have a lot of rights, rights we should not take advantage off,
now it is time to put you in that situation and make the change.
As you have read you can finally understand how it is hard to be a child slave. You can
finally understand that when you say "my life sucks" a child would want to take your life and
trade it with theirs. I hope that now you know what is happening in this world and what we can
do to help. Now you know that every child in child labour have a right to an education but they
are denied. You know what the child slavesfeel like to be in child labour and there working
conditions are. I hope now that you will think twice before thinking of buying or ordering
anything anywhere. You can make a difference by helping a child in need. Remember you can
make the change.
