The document discusses several human rights that children in developing countries are denied, including education, freedom of speech, and basic freedom. It focuses on children who are forced to work in unsafe factories instead of going to school and who cannot freely express themselves. These children have little access to healthcare, food, or play. The document urges readers to raise awareness of these issues and support organizations helping children in need. It provides examples from the novel "Iqbal" of how children are denied schooling and freedom of speech. The last paragraph emphasizes the importance of learning about and donating to causes addressing human rights violations against children globally.

Childrens rights paragraph2
1. Taylor Cunha 8-14
Why are children denied rights?
Here in Canada we children and teens have many human rights and we our not denied
education, speech or freedom. So why isn’t it like this in other countries? Children in developing
countries are forced to work in unsafe factories with little food and no play. They do not get any
healthcare and are denied love. In particular I’m going to focus on the children who are denied
their freedom, speech and education. They are ordered around by greedy masters and they cannot
speak their mind or laugh. Children who are denied basic human rights do not have any
opportunity to go to school and get an education. We need to raise awareness and do everything
we can to help the children who are denied their rights and make a difference in OUR world.
Children, teens and adults in Canada should use their human rights to help enslaved children who
do not have the opportunity to have the same human rights as we are fortunate to have.
The first thing we need to do to help children around the world is to help them get an
education. Without any schooling children cannot learn how to read or write which results in
poverty, low to no income and without education children cannot full-fill their dreams or get a
good job. The children in the novel “Iqbal” (D.Adamo) are denied an education. They cannot
get the help or support they need to learn to read or write, luckily one of the children Maria
vaguely knows how to write and secretly teaches the children at night by carving letters into the
dirt ground. In an article I read it stated that over 246 million children around the world are
working fulltime, more than half under 12. That means a very large percentage of the worlds
children are not in school. This is a very important human right, every child should have the right
and ability to go to school and get the highest level of education possible. We need to stand up
for these children because everyone can make a difference if they try, As Me to We argues“It
starts with me”.
I think it is importantto have theright to a freedom of speech. Many children around the
world are denied their freedom of speech; we need to help the children who are denied their
voice. In the novel that I read called “Iqbal” (D.Adamo) Maria is denied her freedom of speech,
everyone believes that she is a mute. Everyone believes that she is a mute because ever since the
master picked her up to work as a slave at his carpet factory she has been very depressed and
chose not to talk. I think that Maria chose not to talk because she feels she has nothing important
enough to say or nothing that may help the children. Maria probably doesn’t think that she or any

of the other enslaved children will ever see freedom again. Without a voice children cannot stand
up for themselves, which means that someone else has complete control over them. Children
cannot have fun talking or laughing with their friends without their right of speech. Without a
freedom voice you are denied your childhood. In the article of Children’s Rights it states that you
have the legal right to express your own views freely and give your own opinion. Why don’t
millions of children have the right and ability to speak? When we did the Vow of Silencewe
could not speak or communicate on any social media sites (Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr etc.)
Including texting or talking on the phone for one whole day (24hours) it was very hard for me
and many other people not to speak. For some children that is normal and it is what they go
through everyday of most of their lives. We need to solve this problem, you can help by donating
to Free the Children the campaign that was behind the Vow of Silence. It is very important to
solve this. Not being able to express yourself is exactly the same as being invisible, what do you
have if you are invisible?
The last topic I choose is children’s freedom in general. A very big percentage of the
world’s children are denied their basic human rights, and some children do not even know that
they have rights. In the article I read it talked about the 1.3 billion plus people that work for less
than one dollar per day. In Canada the minimum wage per hour is around $10.00+ dollars,
imagine trying to feed a family with less than a dollar per day. The children in the novel
Iqbal(D.Adamo) are denied many basic human rights. For example they are forced to go to the
washroom behind a dirty curtain which results in them getting many different infections or
diseases but no access to healthcare or medicine to cure them. In the book I read “Every human
has rights” by National Geographic the law states “every human in the world must be treated as
a PERSON”, but still many children all over the world are not treated like human beings they are
treated more like animals, even worse garbage!Even though there are many laws stating
everyone has rights billions of people still have no rights and probably never will if they don’t
get proper help. We need to do everything we can do to help them; you can donate to UNICEF,
Free the Children or even adopt a sponsor child in a developing country. “Your rights are yours
always, nobody can take them away” (Every human has rights by National Geographic).
I hope that you learned a lot from my essay. I told you about the human rights children
just like us are denied of. They have little to no access of getting an education, no freedom of

speech and very little freedom in general. However there are still MANY other human rights that
children are denied of. The first thing we need to do to help raise awareness to stop these crimes
against innocent people mainly children, is to learn more about what is going on in developing
countries with slavery, and human rights. You can do this by reading books or articles and even
going on the internet. You can find many organizations that make it a priority to help children;
one campaign is Free the Children. On the site you can learn lots of information and even donate
to the cause. We should make it a priority to help these children denied of basic human rights
because they are just like us and should get to live a normal childhood like we do, and they
should get the best education possible with also being able to stand up for what they believe in.
Imagine if that was you.
