2. The genre of my magazine is known as 'Uni-Core' a
mixture of all the 'core' genres from scream core to
death core, this allows for many bands who share the
same sort of fan base to appear in one magazine.This
subsequently means my magazine has a niche yet
varied size audience.Through this I am saying that the
'social group' in which my magazine is intended to
represent are the 'outcasts', the 'alternatives', the
'rejects' the teens who with only one look can tell you
a thousand things; or as society likes to call them:The
Scene kids,The Emo kids,The Goths andThe Punks.
3. To represent this audience I have chosen a colour
scheme which shows both sides of the possible
stereotypes of the genres within the Uni-core
spectrum.
The usage of jet black backgrounds on the contents
page and double page spread in contrast with the acid
yellow and blood red font colours for the cover lines
and interviews shows the biting difference between
the two and how it aggravates notions of difference
and attentiveness within the magazine itself,
complementing the stereotypes of the genres fan
base.
4. The mixture of only using two strong colours against
plain black and white allows for an un-sexist view on
the magazine so it can represent both males and
females of the social group.
Another way in which my music magazine represents
my 'social group' is through the image styles and the
fonts.The style in which images have been taken are
very simplistic, just a model and a white background.
The models clothing consists of a black leather jacket
and jeans with a black Iron Maiden band shirt, the
model herself is wearing dark makeup with blood red
lipstick.This shows the contrast of black on red as a.
provocative b. though provoking and c. alternative.
5. The use of colours and styling of the clothing
relates heavily to what fans will be wearing
themselves and will subsequently be following
along with the music side of the magazine as
fashion is one of the most strongly used ways by
the genres fan base to represent themselves as
individuals.The fonts used are a mixture of
vintage and aggressive design; they are used to
represent the bands that are being talked about
thus giving the reader an instant insight to what
genres are incorporated by the Uni-core genre
spectrum.
