2. The National Research and Innovation
Policy Council (NRIC)
• NRIC was established in October 2016 by the order of the National Council
for Peace and Order
• In the process, the National Research Council, National Committee for
Innovation Development and the National Science Technology and
Innovation Policy Committee were abolished.
• The aim of the new law is to reform the research and innovation system
through restructuring, improving management, improving the budgeting
system
• It is expected that the research and innovation system will be more
effective in supporting the development of the competitiveness of the
nation.

4. Government Initiatives
• Already, the government has launched several promising initiatives that
could help make this happen, allowing Thailand to escape from the
middle-income trap.
• These include a focus on 10 industries as “new engines of growth” (or “S-
curve industries”), i.e. Robotics, Medical industry, Aviation, Bio-based
industry, Digital Industry, Automotive industry, Smart electronics, Tourism,
Smart agriculture, Food for the future.
• Major investment in the Eastern Economic Corridor Development Project is
planned , and the launching of a major push for the creation of an
electronic payment system.

11. STI’s Role / STI 業務
STI is a government agency who has the role to propose the policy for government
to develop the nation competitiveness via Science Technology and Innovation
capability development

12. • 2-Year program: Student will get high vocational school diploma after finish the program.
• Students work as operators in factory.
• Take classes after working hour.
• Class contents are work-based and customized to each company (based on manufacturing standard,
cost, delivery and quality).
• Cost per head is approximately the same as hiring operator (included service provider that help
managing the program).
• 2年プログラム:プログラム終了と共に専門学校等を卒業
• 学生は日中は工場のオペレーターとして勤務
• 勤務時間後に通学
• プログラムは企業・産業ごとにカスタマイズされた実務に基づいた内容
• 1人当たりの人件費は、他のワーカーを採用する場合と略同等
