Good governance refers to the processes by which public institutions conduct public affairs and manage resources in a manner that is open, participatory, accountable, transparent, equitable and inclusive. It involves making decisions that meet the needs of all citizens rather than select groups, and having local governments be answerable for the consequences of their decisions. Good governance also has a positive impact on consultation policies, meeting procedures, service quality, and the roles and relationships of elected officials and staff.
