Meeting a delegation of
Muslim Ulemas and intellec-
tuals, Prime Minister Narendra
Modi on Thursday hailed the
Indian youth for resisting
radicalization and asserted that
the country's culture, traditions
and social fabric will never al-
low the nefarious designs of
the terrorists or their sponsors
to succeed. Modi told the del-
egation that it was "our collec-
tive responsibility" to take this
heritage forward, a PMO state-
ment said here.
"The delegation congratu-
lated the Prime Minister on the
steps taken by the Union gov-
ernment for inclusive growth,
socio-economic and educa-
tional empowerment of all sec-
tions of the society including
Minorities," the statement said.
"The Prime Minister said
that youth in India has success-
fully resisted radicalization,
which has affected several
parts of the world today," it
said.
The credit for this must go
to the "long, shared heritage of
PM Hails Indian Youth For
Resisting Radicalisation
our people" and that "it is now
our collective responsibility to
take this heritage forward",
Modi told the delegation,
which included Imam Umer
Ahmed Ilyasi, Chief Imam of
All India Organisation of
Imams of Mosques,AMU Vice
Chancelleor Lt Gen (Retd)
Zameeruddin Shah and Jamia
Millia Vice Chancellor Talat
Ahmed.
He said "the culture, tradi-
tions and social fabric of India
will never allow the nefarious
designs of the terrorists, or
their sponsors, to succeed", the
statement said.
The Prime Minister also
stressed on the importance of
education and skill develop-
ment, which is the key to gain-
ful employment, and
upliftment from poverty. The
delegation also included MY
Eqbal, former judge of the Su-
preme Court and Shahid
Siddiqui, Urdu journalist. Dur-
ing the course of the interac-
tion, the Prime Minister appre-
ciated the government of Saudi
Arabia for its decision to in-
crease the number of Haj pil-
grims for India, saying there is
a positive image of Indian
Muslims abroad.
The Muslim delegation was
also appreciative of the Saudi
government s decision and
thanked Modi for having suc-
cessfully pursued the same, the
PMO statement said.
"The delegation congratu-
lated the Prime Minister for
his efforts to strengthen rela-
tions with the countries
across the world and said that
today every Indian in every
corner of the world is in-
stilled with a sense of pride,"
the PMO said.
"The delegation, in one
voice, supported wholeheart-
edly the campaign launched by
the Prime Minister against cor-
ruption and black money," the
statement said.
"These days whenever you
see newspaper and watch TV,
there are news of
regular violence.
I am not talking
about interna-
tional violence,
but it is also
about violence in
our minds, our
conscious and
conflict in our
s o u l s , "
Mukherjee said
after inaugurating the 28th
Dantan Gramin Mela here. "I
am talking about day to day
small incidents, not about in-
ternational violence. There
were conflicts and difference
of opinion earlier also. But
now this kind of situation is in-
creasing day by day," he said
without directly referring to the
Conflict, Difference Of Opinion

ongoing protests in Bhangar in
West Bengal and over
Jallikattu in
Tamil Nadu.
M u k h e r j e e
said that earlier,
such conflicts
used to be pre-
vented at a local
level but now "it
is spreading like
anything".
Expressing
concern that "the
world is becoming more vio-
lent", the President said: "It is
not the general trend of human
society. People used to love
each other, accept each other,
and not reject. The human psy-
chology is to love each other
and not spread hatred."
In the present scenario,
there is a stronger need for en-
hancing mutual respect, he ex-
horted.
He also mentioned that ear-
lier people never used to get
know incidents of violence, but
now they are aware thanks to
key role being played by the
media.
Talking about the Dantan
Gramin Mela, Mukherjee said
that such rural fairs bring hope
for brotherhood, harmony and
peaceful co-existence among
people. "You cannot see this
kind of mela in urban areas.
There are always huge gather-
ings. These types of mela re-
flect eternal sense of rural ar-
eas," he said.
Such melas help increase
personal touch among cross
section of society. "This is very
important in respect of global
context," he added.
Street children will be pro-
vided Aadhaar cards to enable
them to take admission in
schools and access government
health services. The Standard
Operating Procedure for Care
and Protection of Children in
Street Situations, approved by
the Women and Child Devel-
opment Ministry and due for a
formal launch, is a step by step
guide on restoration and reha-
bilitation of street children.
Other key measures for
street children include health
insurance, bank accounts and
financial sponsorship for fami-
lies to help meet medical and
nutritional requirements of a
child.
“80 per cent of children liv-
ing on the streets don’t have
any form of identification and
that is the biggest barrier in
terms of accessing their rights
and services. Schools refuse
admission to these children.
Health services too are denied
to them because they don’t
have an identity proof.

Amid the Centre's push for
making the country clean un-
der 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan',
Khargone town in Madhya
Pradesh has created a record in
waste disposal through mass
public participation.
As many as 2,576 people, a
large number of them children,
today took part in a mass waste
disposal exercise, helping the
municipal on Wednesday of the
neighbouring town earn a place
in the `Golden Book of World
Records', an official said.
As part of the exercise,
these Khargone residents stood
on roadside with dustbins filled
with household waste material
and emptied them in garbage
collection vehicles.
"We have issued a world
record certificate to Khargone
City Chief Municipal Officer
(CMO) for the mass participa-
tion in the waste disposal ex-
MP Town Creates Record
In Waste Disposal
ercise," Golden Book of World
Records South East Asia head
Manish Vishnoi said.
He said 2,576 people stood
up on both sides of roads and
emptied their dustbins contain-
ing solid and liquid waste onto
the garbage collection ve-
hicles. This was largest such
gathering of people for a waste
disposal exercise, Vishnoi said.
Under Swachh Bharat
Abhiyan launched in October
2014, the Centre is encourag-
ing citizens to become active
participants in cleanliness ac-
tivities. Golden Book of World
Record, according to its
website, aims to give a plat-
form to people who have some
hidden or unhidden talent.
GWBR is actively func-
tioning to recognise and pub-
lish unique achievements of
individuals and organisations
all over the world.

Greater Noida urban
sectors are flourishing
with top class roads and
all basic amenities but
the rural areas of the dis-
trict are still crying for
attention. A host of
programmes and
schemes are being
implemented to bring
the remote areas to
mainstream, however,
the authorities might
have neglected the areas
which are a bit away
from human view or less
accessible.
With over 5,000 vot-
ers, Village Kheri-
Bhanota located on the
130 metre wide main
road has remained de-
prived of any kind of
development works
over the years. Due to
over pathetic conditions
of roads, the commuters
and the pedestrians are
facing huge inconve-
nience while many eld-
erly people have suf-
fered injuries after fall-
ing on these roads. Wa-
This Gr Noida Village May Boycott Votes
This Season; Reason - No Developmenta waste and so there is
no need to vote for any-
one. Residents blamed
that once people are
voted into office, they
forget the promises
made. The youth of the
village is somehow try-
ing to gain the majority
and are requesting all
not to cast their votes in
the upcoming UP As-
sembly elections if there
is no development made
by the government.
Yogesh, one of the
youth from the village
told us: “Unlike other
neighbouring villages,
there is no sewer line in
the village. The street is
not well lit as the
streetlights are not func-
tional. People avoid go-
ing out after late hours
and it is also life threat-
ening. The road which
connects the village to
the 130 metre main road
is also in a very bad con-
dition. If development
in our village is not
made like other
neighbouring villages
we are planning to boy-
cott the upcoming UP
elections.”
The villagers claim
that no elected represen-
tative has visited their
village in the last five
years. Vikas Tongad, a
young social worker
from the village told us:
“We have made several
complaints to the au-
thority and the govern-
ment regarding the
problems faced by us
but no legal action has
been taken yet. There is
an acute negligence of
the authority in our vil-
lage. The cancellation of
Gram Panchayat elec-
tions has also exploited
the interests of the vil-
lages. If there is no de-
velopment made in our
village then on what
ground we should cast
our votes. We are some-
how trying to raise our
voice through various
platforms including so-
cial media.”
ter stagnation is a very
common problem on the
roads of the village due
to which school-going
kids are facing serious
issues.
When Positive Post
of India took a tour of
Kheri-Bhanota in Dadri
constituency, everyone
complained about lack
of development in the
area and they felt that
their votes always go to

According to her, climate change is the
"single largest and most important issue fac-
ing mankind today" and she feels it is very
important to educate one self and the people
around to mitigate the challenge.
An employee at Google, Digantika is one
of the 100 people selected for the expedition,
from more than 5000 applications.
"As I read up, watch documentaries and
learn more about climate change, I have
started to understand that this is the single
largest and most important issue facing man-
kind today.
"However, very little is known and being
done by most of us because climate change
does not impact our everyday lives yet. That
is why I want to become more conscious and
build awareness in any way that I can before
it is too late," Digantika writes about her
online crowdfunding campaign
onwishberry.com.
The program, which is hosted by world
renowned environmentalist Dr Robert Swan,
seeks to bring together individuals from
DelhiGirlCrowdfundsToFightClimateChange
across the world to experience the effects of cli-
matic change in real time and brainstorm solutions
to combat them. Once back, Digantika wishes to
share her experience from the expedition and en-
courage others to understand the devastating ef-
fects of climate change and take action.
"I want to develop a program to educate lead-
ers in corporates to consider the effect their deci-
sions can have on climate change.
"Based on my experience, many people work-
ing in corporates are interested in helping ensure
sustainable development but don't have the time
to figure out how to," she writes.
President Pranab
Mukherjee has returned
Netaji Subhas Institute of
Technology Bill, which seeks
university status to the insti-
tute, to Delhi Assembly ask-
ing the House to reconsider
and amend the Bill.
In June 2015, the Delhi
Assembly had passed NSIT
Bill (amendment) tabled by
AAP government, according
university status to Netaji
Subhas Institute of Technol-
ogy.
After passing the Bill, the
Delhi Assembly had sent it to
the President for his approval
through Ministry of Home
Affairs. “President directed
the Lt Governor to return the
Bill to the Assembly to recon-
sider and amend the Bill as
per provisions under Section
25 of GNCTD Act 1991,” an
official said. The develop-
ment comes to light when As-
sembly Speaker Ram Niwas
Goel today told the House
that he, last week, received a
communication from the LG
office which has returned the
NSIT Bill asking for its re-
consideration.

Members of minority communities con-
stitute a minuscule percentage, not more than
5 per cent, in Delhi Police, DDA and even in
departments like tourism and transport, a gov-
ernment report has said, flagging concern on
the situation.
The Delhi Minorities Commission has
shared the findings in its annual report (2015-
16), which was on Wednesday submitted to
Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, who
promised action based on the recommenda-
tions.
Under the head ‘Representation of Mi-
norities in Government Services’, the report
said only 2,993 personnel of the 77,397 mem-
ber-strong Delhi Police belong to the minor-
ity communities, which comes to around 3.8
per cent.
Out of the 6,031 employees of Delhi De-
velopmentAuthority (DDA), 295 are minori-
ties while only 32 employees out of 741
working with the Delhi Tourism and Trans-
portation belong to the minority communi-
ties. The corresponding percentages come to
around 4.8 and 4.3 per cent. However, there

was confusion around figures related to Delhi
Metro in this regard. DMRC termed as “incorrect”
the report’s claim that out of its “80,683 employ-
ees, 282 belong to minority communities”.
“The figure is not correct. We have around
8,500 regular employees and even if we add the
contractual staff the number would not be that
large,” a DMRC official said.
An official of the Commission said it will take
into account metro’s version and bring about the
necessary corrections if required.
“There should be a sense of security among
minorities. But the report paints a dismal picture.

Ending the suspense, the
government on Thursday ap-
pointed Delhi Police Commis-
sionerAlok Kumar
Verma as Director
of CBI. His name
was cleared by a
three-member se-
lection panel
headed by Prime
Minister Narendra
Modi and compris-
ing Chief Justice
of India Jagdish
Singh Khehar and Congress
leader in Lok Sabha
Mallikarjun Kharge as mem-
bers.
Kharge is understood to
have recorded his dissent note
on Verma's name, during the
meeting of the selection com-
mittee held on January 16, on
the ground that the officer had
never served in CBI. Verma
made it to the top post in the
premier investigating agency
pipping a number of contend-
ers including Director General
of Indo Tibetan Border Police
Krishna Choudhary and
Maharashtra's Director Gen-
Delhi CP Alok Verma
Named New CBI Director
eral of Police S C Mathur.
As CBI chief, Verma will
have a fixed two-year tenure.
The post of CBI
director was lying
vacant for over one
month following
Anil Sinha's retire-
ment on December
2.
At present,
Gujarat-cadre IPS
officer Rakesh
Asthana is the in-
terim director of the investigat-
ing agency. Verma, a 1979
batch IPS officer ofArunachal
Pradesh- Goa-Mizoram and
Union Territories (AGMUT)
cadre, took over as Delhi Po-
lice Commissioner on Febru-
ary 29, 2016. 59-year-old
Verma, who belongs to Delhi,
has worked in various posi-
tions in Delhi Police,Andaman
and Nicobar Islands,
Puducherry, Mizoram and in
the Intelligence Bureau. Before
being appointed as Delhi Po-
lice Commissioner, he was Di-
rector General of Tihar Prisons
here.
The scheme was earlier ex-
pected to be launched around
January 26. "We had a Janu-
ary target but people were reel-
ing under the immediate im-
pact of demonetisation and so
bank transactions were getting
difficult to come buy," a source
said.
A senior DDA official,
when contacted said, "Certain
pockets of areas falling under
the scheme lack basic infra-
structure around flats like link
roads, street lights, and so we
will address these issues. The
new scheme should be out
sometime in February."
Out of the total number of
flats, most of them in Rohini,
Dwarka, Narela, Vasant Kunj
and Jasola, 10,000 unoccupied
flats are from the 2014 scheme,
while 2,000 are other flats
which have been lying vacant,"
a senior DDA official said.
Sources said most of the flats
are one-bedroom LIG flats
from the last housing scheme
and no new flat is on offer this
time. "About 10,000 are LIG
flats from 2014 DDA scheme.
Unlike EWS (Economically
Weaker Section) last time, in
this scheme there would be no
such category," the official
said. "For LIG category the
DDA's New Housing Scheme
Likely To Be Launched In Feb
registration fee would be Rs 1
lakh while for MIG and HIG it
would be Rs 2 lakh," he said.
"Application forms would be
available both online and off
line," he said. From application
to refund, the DDA this time
had planned to make the
scheme an online affair to re-
duce the long queues of flat
buyers at its headquarters. "A
big number of citizens either
still do not have access to tech-
nology or are not tech-savvy.
So, we decided to keep both the
options," he added. Scheme
2014 offered 25,040 flats
across categories, with prices
ranging between Rs 7 lakh and
Rs 1.2 crore. The online re-
sponse was so massive that
DDA's official website had
crashed soon after the launch.
The one-bedroom flats were
offered in Dwarka, Rohini,
Narela and Siraspur areas.
Sanjay Chauhan
You are all set to host a pre-
sentation. Your palms are
clammy, your heart racing,
and your throat parched. As
you approach the presentation
area, your mind begins to get
fuzzy.Youmumblesomething
and then go completely blank.
As you stand there staring
blankly at a room full of
people, you realize what a
jackass you have made of
yourself. This is what social
anxiety is. Almost all of you
have had anxiety attacks at
some point of your lives.
Overcoming social anxiety is
necessary for an individual to
succeed in life, as not doing
so can create plenty of cracks
in relationships at home and
in work. Social anxiety at
work can affect your career
prospects, and anxiety in pub-
lic places, such as airport and
restaurants can affect your ca-
pability to meet new people
and make friends. Most im-
portantly, anxiety at special
occasions such as a party, a
night out, or family vacation,
can severely damage your
bonds with people who are
most vital to you. Fortunately,
with a little bit of conscious
effort, one can overcome this
social phobia. The below-
mentioned tips will help you
to overcome your social anxi-
ety and deal with your stress
in a better way.
Overcoming Social Phobia
Control Your Reactions
The biggest problem with
any social anxiety disorder is
the reaction it causes in our
body. It leads to increased
heart rate, a racing mind,
shakiness, sweating and other
reactions triggered by some
deep-seated fear. It is quite
simple to overcome these re-
actions through learning tech-
niques such as yoga, medita-
tion, and self-hypnosis.
PrepareYourself Mentally
Instead of letting the fear
of embarrassment or humilia-
tion overwhelm you in social
settings,youcanprepareyour-
self with some scenarios to
ensure that you are ready for
any challenging situations. If
you are prepared for worst
things, which might happen
and you know what to do or
sayinthosemoments,youwill
naturally get the confidence to
remain calm and manage the
Overcoming Social Anxiety
situation.
Face Your Fears
Social fears do not stem
from a lack of social skills, but
from a sense of insecurity and
lack of esteem. To overcome
this, it's important to step out
of your comfort zone. Test
yourself. Put yourself in un-
comfortable situations like
speaking in front of your peers
or complimenting someone.
By doing so, you will easily
beatyourapprehensions.Soon
you will realize that your so-
cial fear has vanished.
Be Engaged Socially
You can participate in
assertiveness classes, volun-
teer for an event, which keeps
you in a social setting, and try
to build relationships with
people you normally would
not.You can also be part of an
onlinesupportgroup,talkwith
other likeminded, and learn
about their triumphs and
struggles. This will give you
the confidence, which you re-
quire to break the self-im-
posed barrier of fear.
Develop A Positive Atti-
tude
The way you think make a
strong influence on the way
you feel. The realization that
only you can control the way
you think and the manner
those thoughts control you, is
an important step to defeat
social anxiety.When thoughts
like 'they will make fun of me'
or 'I am going to fail' comes to
your mind, try replacing them
with more realistic and calmer
thoughts. Try telling yourself
thatyouarecapable,confident
and wonderful enough to fight
those negative thoughts. Posi-
tive visualization and affirma-
tion will also help to motivate
you along the road and boost
your self-esteem.
Try Adjusting Your Atti-
tude
You can adjust your atti-
tude on fronts, such as, chang-
ing the unrealistic expecta-
tions of your own behavior.
Ensure you change the indis-
tinct perception that others
will condemn you if you are
not perfect. Practice replacing
the self-critical thoughts with
more supportive ideas such as,
"Most people can handle it
when someone makes a mis-
take,"
"It would be nice if this had
turned out differently, but it's
not the end of the world," "No
one else is perfect. I don't have
to be either."
Try To Speak Up
Ensure you always talk in
a reasonably louder voice and
do not be scared if your state-
ment overlaps the previous
speaker a bit. Frequent eye
contact is a key factor in mod-
ern communication.Arelaxed
and an alert posture are more
amicable than one that is quite
rigid. It is good to be updated
about contemporary events,
which make you seem like a
friendly character. If you have
a specialized interest, try to
talk more about it so that be-
ginners as wells as experts can
understand you. You can also
collect amusing stories or
jokes to tell.
BeAn Inquisitive Listener
Never hesitate to ask ques-
tions. For instance, ask ques-
tions which cannot be an-
swered with a simple 'yes' or
'no' like those that start with
'why','how','what',and'when'.
In social gatherings, never
hesitate to approach another
person who looks shy.
Practice Diversion Tech-
niques
Practicing diversion tech-
niques will help you to con-
centrate on something else
when your anxiety starts to
build. It also acts as a helpful
resource that you require to
come out on top at a social
gathering. You can start read-
ing a book or get engaged in a
hobby, which you are enthu-
siastic about. If you are en-
gaged in a chosen diversion,
you will not get time to think
about your worries and will
feel confident talking about it.
People will notice your inter-
est and reward you with posi-
tive reinforcement.All of this
will increase your self-confi-
dence and you will find your-
self actually enjoying the so-
cial situation instead of run-
ning away from it.
Ensure not to let anxiety
keep you away from things
and people you value in your
life. Learning to overcome
anxiety will open innumerable
doors of opportunities for you.
If you implement the tech-
niques and learn to treat the
anxiety with a demonstrated
anti-anxiety regiment, you
will find more contentment
and greater pleasure in life.

RBI Governor Urjit Patel
on Wednesday faced some
tough questions from MPs as
he could not set a time frame
for return of normalcy in the
banking system even as the
central bank asserted that Rs
9.2 lakh crore or 60 per cent of
demonetised currency has been
replaced.
Patel also could not give a
definite number of old Rs 500
and Rs 1000 bills returned post
demonetisation as RBI was
still tabulating those.
Sources said the Governor
received support from an un-
likely backer at the meeting of
the Parliament’s Standing
Committee on Finance in the
form of former Prime Minis-
ter Manmohan Singh who in-
cidentally was once also at the
helm of affairs at RBI. Singh

going on since early 2016, and
the central bank was in agree-
ment with the government on
the objective behind scrapping
of the Rs 500/1000 notes.
The Committee headed by
former Union Minister and se-

RBI and finance ministry offi-
cials to discuss the
“demonetisation of Indian cur-
rency notes of Rs 500 and Rs
1,000 and the impact thereof”.
As members could not com-
plete their questions, the com-
mittee decided to call RBI
Governor and ministry offi-
cials again on a later date, most
likely after Parliament goes on
a break during the Budget ses-
sion.
“He (Patel) replied in part
but he could not answer main
questions. How much money
has come back into the system
and by when banks’ operations
will be normal. It seems RBI
officials were in very defensive
position on demonetisation,” a
senior opposition member said
after the meeting. The panel
was informed that new cur-
rency worth Rs 9.2 lakh crore
has been infused into the sys-
tem post note ban.
“Members asked several
questions from the Finance
Ministry officials as well as
from the RBI Governor. As
there was no time, the minis-
try officials would be replying
to the questions on a later date.
“The RBI Governor replied
to some questions. But the pro-
cess could not be completed.
They would be called again,”
sources said. Some of the ques-
tions put to both the finance
ministry and RBI related to
who decided to go for
demonetisation - Government
or RBI; autonomy of the RBI;
and why goal posts were be-
ing shifted from black money,
counterfeit currency and terror-
ism to digital payments.

ing shared from Hyderabad,
the CID sleuths zeroed in on
him and seized a laptop con-
taining 29,288 items, includ-
ing child porn videos and im-
ages.
They also found that there
were 497 GigaTribe (a file-
sharing site) profiles and 24
Twitter handlers/profiles, with
whom he was connected, shar-
ing child pornography.
"We have recovered huge
material from his residence...
Over 29,000 video clips, im-
ages of child porn stored in his
laptop. An external hard disk
and cell phone containing
adult porn content was also
seized," Mishra said. Jones,
who is unmarried, allegedly
confessed that from an early
age he developed the habit of
watching child pornography
and has been downloading,
watching and sharing such
material ever since, she said.

Pluck one grey hair, expect
two more to grow back in its
place. Pregnant women should
not colour their hair. These are
some of the common myths
people believe in, says an ex-
pert.
If you pluck one grey hair,
twowillgrowbackinitsplace:
One grey strand usually means
more grey hair. This myth
probably started because
people plucked one grey hair,
then noticed more afterwards.
You can’t blame the plucking

The main

the risk associated with inhal-

research for ammonia-free
products and go for it.There are
homemade solutions too.

and is safe to use.
Using the right and luxury
products will make your hair
thicker: Most people think
healthy looking hair is all about
specific weather, costly prod-
ucts and styling. Your body
needs a lot of energy, healthy
diet, nutrients, carbohydrates
and protein to grow hair. Prod-
ucts are required to do good
cleansing and provide external
moisture.
Washing your hair with beer
will make it softer: People be-
lieve that the malt and yeast in
the beer are supposed to react
well with the hair proteins,
keeping it strong, shiny and
bouncy. Unfortunately,
the cons out-
weigh the pros.
Alcohol dries

Want to look professional yet
trendy at your workplace? Go for
right pairing of clothes, says an
expert. Casual done right: Go un-
conventional and experimental
with chinos in mint, maroon and
olive along with traditional
printed cotton shirts teamed with
warm tan coloured blazers and
loafers. Not only will this combi-
nation add a touch of class to your
look, it will allow you to maintain
the essence of staying effortlessly
casual and comfortable at work.
Jacket it up: If you want to pull
off a more relaxed look, while still
maintaining the sharpness of a
suit, pairing casual clothes with a
jacket can be the perfect pick. Not
only will it bring forth a versatile
way of wearing a suit, this pairing
of a smart bomber jacket with a
more casual pair of chinos and
shirt, without a tie can create a
modern-smart casual look.
Patterns on point: Wear smart
casual trousers like chinos or kha-
kis and pair them with a patterned
shirt and jacket or combine them

Denim is divine:
You can look most
effective in a simple
outfit by keeping it
classy to get you no-

right reasons. Match-
ing a pair of smart denims with a white t-
shirt and a denim jacket or by simply

look more dashing.
Want A Good Workout?
Leave Your Phone At Home!
Want to get every perk pos-
sible from your power walk?
Turn off your smartphone, sug-
gests a new study which found
that talking or texting on a cell
phone during exercise lowers
the intensity of a workout and
affects balance.
Michael Rebold, assistant
professor at Hiram College in
the US found that cell phone
texting and talking can have a
negative effect on one’s bal-
ance during everyday activi-
ties.
This is the first known
study to examine the ef-
fects of cell phone use on
postural stability.
“If you are talking or
texting on your cell phone
while you are putting in your
daily steps, your attention is
divided by the two tasks and
that can disrupt your postural
stability, and therefore, possi-
bly predispose individuals to
other greater inherent risks
such as falls and muscu-
loskeletal injuries,” said
Rebold.
The study,
which examined
45 college stu-
dents, showed
that cell phone
texting during
exercise signifi-
cantly impacts
postural stability
– by 45 per cent
– when com-
pared to no cell
phone use.
The investi-
gation also
showed that
talking on a cell
phone while ex-
ercising reduces
postural stability
by 19 per cent.
Listening to mu-
sic, on the other
hand, has no no-
table impact on
postural stability
during exercise.
If discoloration or darken-
ing of skin in underarms is
bothering you, don’t fret as it
can be
tack-
led in dif-
f e r e n t
ways, says
an expert.
* First of all remove under-
arm hair. Your underarms can
look dark because of the in-
grown hair under skin.You can
clear it by waxing but avoid
shaving as shaving only re-
moves the hair above skin and
creates an illusion of darkness.
* Apply some skin lighten-
ing creams. Buy some good
quality skin lightening prod-
ucts like scrubs that contain
peptides and various natural
extracts that help in removing
the darkness of armpits. These
scrubs should be used twice
per week for removal of dirt
and dead skin cells.
* Clean your underarms
daily. Wash and clean under-
arms every day while taking
bath. Washing it every day can
make skin dry, and hence re-
member to moisturize it.
* Use aloe vera gel that can
be used as a natural exfoliat-
ing product. Apply the aloe
vera gel under your arms.
