Abstract
In the race of modern era, society and culture get changes keeping balance with the time.
Bangladesh is no exception in this respect. Some describe this as a facebook culture.
Bangladesh’s today’s culture where everything is generating by virtually over the internet
was not as same as the 19th century or before that. Today’s facebook culture will not last
forever. After a certain period of time it will change again. As a developing third world
country Bangladesh have lots of opportunity with that also have lots of societal problem.
Some of them are affecting their society directly and some of them are indirectly, some of
them people notice some of them they do not. So premarital relationship and the break up
has now an direct impact on Bangladeshi society and culture. The researcher will show
how this hidden problem come out, main reason of this problem and practical view of
what is happening in the reality and how this societal problem affecting the young

Introduction
At the beginning of this sociological investigation on premarital relationship and the
break up among university’s students, the researcher wants to show you the background
of the problem. So in this chapter the researcher will present the Statement of the
problem, objectives, Importance, and about the research question of the investigation.
Statement of the problem
Premarital relationship and the break up is two different things. They are related with
each other directly or indirectly. So the researcher will define them separately for the
understands of the readers. Premarital relationship is a relationship what commence
before marriage between a man and women. It can happen any time in any age before get
marriage. In this modern society people make or try to make relationship with each other
from the very beginning of their life. As an example, some days back researcher heard
a seven years old girl saying “I am studying in class two and I have a Boyfriend”. It
is hard to believe that a seven years old girl have a boy friend and what she understands
about being in a relationship? And what is the meaning of relationship to her? Well that is
not the matter of discussion. So relation is not the matter of age now. It is spreading like
internet. In simple word break up means someone was in a relationship before but now he
or she get separated from his or her male or female member with whom he or she did
premarital relationship. The researcher can say premarital relationship is happening
everywhere in the society and the break up problem is also a common word for the
people of the society now. So this is the reason why researcher wants to show this
problem as a societal problem because it is common now, for being in a premarital
relationship and break up. Relationship has lots of kind it can be physical, can be mental,
can be define from the view of kinship, and can be side of family. So researcher will not
talk about this in here. So as the view of premarital relationship researcher will focus only
on the view of universities students. This premarital relationship and the break up is
affecting the society roughly, because of this relationship and the break up many school,
college, universities students falling behind from their aim of life. Sometime they are
trying to kill themselves because of break up. If this things run in this flow, it is not so far
away when young generation of the society will be in a big trouble, whom do the
researcher see as the future of the nation.
Objectives
Here have some important objectives of the research, Researcher want to show this.
a. To explore the actual factors of being in a premarital relationship and break up.
b. To show how this problem has become a major societal problem.
c. What is the affect of this societal problem and how this thing is affecting young
generation of the society?
d. What will be the side affect if these things continue for the country?
e. To show you the practical view about this problem to the society that what is
happening in the society?
Importance
In our society women harassment, gender discrimination is a common affair now. This
thing is now a matter of discussion in every media, tv channel etc. scholar person present
this as a major societal problem but they are not aware of this premarital relationship and
the break up affect and effect both for the society, country, and their children. As
researcher said before premarital relationship is a common thing among the students,
young generation, teenage boys and girls. Even in some place among the young
generation, a boy or girl is not accepted to his or her friends and culture if he or she is not
in a relationship. Researcher heard somewhere someone is saying “ki tor girl friend
nai? Ja tor life e to britha :/”. So in this situation what will happen? That boy or girl
will try to make a premarital relation with another for being accepted by his or her others
friend. Every work what get done by the people has a good or bad impact. Premarital
relationship and break up has also bad and good impact. On a statistic shows that on
premarital relationship bad impact is high more than Good impact. The bad impact as an
example, immature sexual relationship, mental presser in a teenage age, Bad impact on
the study, early marriage from the parents, suicide, etc. Some people say premarital
relationship has some good impact also, as an example “ they say If I be in a
relationship, I can pass my free time with the partners, I can have a company when
I am alone, I think there have someone who love me, who care about me, I can share
my feelings with his or her etc.
Research question
a. What are the motivating factor that driving the young generation to do premarital
relationship?
b. What are the major reasons behind break up?
c. What is the ration or percentage of marriage with the partner who do such kind a
relationship?
d. How break up affecting the universities students?
e. What do the teenage think about being in a premarital relationship?
f. What roles can religion and moral play to solve this societal problem?
g. What do the parents think about being in a relationship of their children in a
growing age?
Literature Review
Premarital relationship in Asian context
While discussing premarital relationship and the break up among the universities students
in Asian context, the researcher shall consider the cases of Thailand, Nepal, Philippines
and Indonesia. Actually premarital relationship in the other country of the Asia is not that
much alarming likes Bangladesh. On the other hand if the researcher talk about the
premarital sexual relationship then here have an analysis. The prevalence of premarital
sexual among adolescent boys is quite high is Thailand (40 percent), substantial in the
Philippines and Nepal (31 per cent and 15 per cent respectively), and low in Indonesia (7
per cent). So after getting all the information the researcher can say that premarital sexual
relationship is relatively high this countries but the premarital relationship and the break
up is not that much high as ours.
Premarital relationship in Bangladesh Context
Being a relatively new culture trend in Bangladesh, the premarital sexual relation rate
here is negligible. But the premarital relationship and the break up rate is alarming in
here. Among many reasons, having planned to study in the future is associated with a
lower likelihood of engaging in premarital sex among respondents. In terms of family
system, respecting for parents’ values and beliefs about sex is also associated with lower
odds of engaging in premarital sex. Discussion with the parents about sex related issue
here decreases the risk of having premarital sex by seventy percent, although. It is
marginally significant due to the small number of adolescents who ever discuss sex
related issues with their parents. After getting all the information from her the
researcher can say that premarital sexual relationship is not that much usually in
our country but the young generation are suffering because they are doing
premarital sexual relation on the name of premarital relationship. The researcher
discussed at the findings that physical demand is also a motivating factors for the
premarital relationship. So some people use the name of relationship but they
actually do sexual relationship. That’s why this issue does not come publicly as a big
issue. Everyone from our society gives the permission of premarital relationship but
they do not want to give the permission of sexual relation.
Methodology
Methodology is a way to systematically solve the research problem. Through the
methodology we will find out the every related information what we will need to solve
the research problem. Methodology means to the choices we make about cases to study
methods of data gathering, forms of data analysis etc, in planning and executing a
research study. In this chapter researcher will present the why qualitative methodology?
.The study area, study population, techniques of data collection, limitation and ethical
issues. These are the whole procedure of the research work.
Why Qualitative Methodology
In this section researcher want to show you that why researcher took Qualitative method
as his methodology. Before understanding the why researcher choose this we need to
understand what is qualitative methodology? Actually for a research paper we can follow
two types of methodology one is qualitative and the other one is quantitative.
Quantitative methodology is based on the experiment, survey etc. it’s a measurement
way. We can measure the quantity in this method. On the other hand qualitative
methodology means it’s actually the theoretical based method. As an example of
qualitative method case study, interview, ethnography, focus group discussion, observation
etc. Premarital relationship is not a disclosed thing until now in our society. Everyone
wants to keep this thing close. So as the researcher think that here have a lots of points
issues what we cannot measure in quantity. So that why for the help of solving this
societal problem researcher took the theoretical or qualitative method as the research
methodology.
Study Site
The researcher knows that to conduct a research or to present the picture of the research,
you must need to select an area for your research. As our research topic is the “premarital
relationship and the break up among the universities students” we selected different
universities for our investigation, as an example East West University, IUB, EDEN, Atish
Deponkor University, we took exception as college Raihan College Azimpur, As a
School VNSC. All of the school college and universities situated in Dhaka City.
Study Population
It is a big problem for the researcher to select a prefect group of people for your research.
In here researcher targeted those people who have a good communication with him from
different universities, as it is a hidden problem for the society so everyone was not that
much easy to get the correct information. In this research the study population includes
both male and female ranging from young to middle adult.
Sample Size
As Bangladesh is involved the third world Muslim country, where most of our people is
Muslim. We cannot get all of the hidden stories from the people. So it was so difficult to
get the stories but even after that the researcher tried his best in this respect he got the
help from a group of people. The researcher conducted a interview of 3 students from the
school, 3 students from the college and 5 students from the University with this two story
of being in a relationship and after that break up.
Data Collection Instruments
The data for the study have been collected by some of psychical and indirect interview.
The researcher used face to face interview, interview over the skype, interview over the
facebook chat, interview over the phone, so everyone know that premarital relationship
and the break up is a major problem in our country now. As it is making a lot of problem
for the society. It is matter of fact on what we need to give a good attention on it, the
premarital relationship and break up making some of the major problem.
Pre-test
Collection the needed data on the research problem is not that kind a easy. There have a
lot of reason behind this, some subject may not give you the correct information or will
tell you false, than your research will be in a big trouble. You will not get the exact over
all practical view of this problem. So before collecting the main data the researcher made
a good relation with the subjects and need to make them easy to say the truth and correct
information. The researcher also collected the raw data for the research problem before
collecting the main data.
Data Processing and Analysis
Data analysis is the process of systematically searching arranging the interview
transcripts, field notes and other martial that the researchers accumulate to increase the ir
understanding of the study and to enable them to present what they have discovered.
Qualitative results have been obtained manually and the researcher has prepared the study
based on the transcripts of the interview and case studies.
Reliability and Validity
To construct the study reliable and valid, the researcher has used both direct and indirect
or virtual interview and case studies. The researcher’s interviewing as a non-partisan as
well as the length and intensity of interview session have greatly increased the validity
and reliability of collected data. The study design also makes it possible to triangulate
the qualitative findings from core respondents with the findings derived from in-depth
interview.
Limitation of the Study
The researcher had to complete the investigation in a short time, although the time was
enough for me to complete the research but if the researcher get more time on this topic
than he can added more practical information from the subject. They could be more help
full to get the exact view of this investigation.
1. As we are talking about a matter which is not so published and cannot be shared
with everyone. The researcher had to face the problem of getting the hidden
information.
2. The researcher had a problem with the time, as we know everyone is busy in
today’s world so that was tough to match the time with the subject to talk about
the matter.
3. The researcher had a difficulty to show the exact findings of the research problem,
because it was so tough to gather all the information and make them understand to
the viewer.
Findings
As we know that finding is the main part of the research problem. Because in the finding
section we must need to show the raw practical data what researcher collected from the
different place, researcher needed to collect the data and arrange the data what viewer can
understand easily. In this section researcher will show you the arranging data and exact
findings about the investigation. The real factors what is influencing the young
generation to do the premarital relationship? Profile of the subjects. What are the reasons
behind the break up?
ON THE YEAR OF 2012
AGE PERCENTAGE OF BEING IN A
PREMARITAL RELATION
13 TO 16 79%
16 TO 20 65%
20 TO 25 50%
25 TO 30 30%
So on the age of 13 to 16 age people are consider as teenage. So you can see that the
tendency and the percentage of being in a premarital relation are high on the time of
school going people. The researcher got some reason behind this. First reason is the
emotion 13 to 16 a boy or girl remain emotional, they do not think much before doing
such a thing, that is their growing time, second reason is their have boys or girls who
motivate them to do so, can be their friend or relatives or family members.
At the age of 16 to 20 people remain in a college sector in our country. So on that time
their emotion cannot drive them to do so. That is their growing age on that time they start
to think about their future. So because of that percentage of being in a relationship in less
than teenage aged guys. They try to think legal or positive way, there have another thing
the researcher want to show you, that is the tendency of being in a relationship remain
low but the tendency of doing sexual relation with the friends, relatives etc remain high.
At the age of 20 to 25 a man or women remain in a university level. They do not get that
much time to think about the relationship in this age. They think about their study, they
think about their future aim, leading a happy and peaceful life do not want to get attached
in premarital relation, they think about their family, they fixed it up that they will not do
any kind a relation, their marriage will be arranged by their parents. But even after that
some of the people do premarital relation on the universities time, but the ration of break
up among them is low. They try to choose the right person for the next of their life.
At last at the age of 25 to 30 people become mature and they have the perfect knowledge
about everything. On that time they need to think about their corporate life, family,
marriage etc, So there have some rare people who do relationship in this age. Actually in
this age people have a tendency to arrange marriage.
So in this section the researcher will start by giving you the profile or background
information of the subjects.
Profile of the Subjects
At first researcher divided the young generation by their age. By relating in which
position they are in now? In here the subjects some of them are students, some of them
are in the job. The raw data was collected from based on the area of Dhaka city. Some of
the subjects are from the same area and some of them are not.

So based on the information easily we can calculate the ratio or percentage of the young
generation participate on Premarital relationship and Break up. Before showing you the
profile of the subjects the researcher showed you the percentage analysis of the
premarital relationship and the break up. So after analyzing all of the information the
researcher has got some motivating factors for premarital relationship. So after getting
all this information the researcher can say that the tendency to do premarital
relationship is high on school going students. Now in recent they are making more
relationship and doing break up commonly. So we can say that teenage people are
affecting now more by this relationship. On the other hand in youth and middle
aged people are not attached widely with this premarital relationships where they
want to just lead a happy and peace full life with his or her family and also want to
get marriage by the choice of their parents. About the universities students they are
also doing premarital relationship but the percentage is not that much high. But it
will not constant so the corrective action to prevent this social problem we must
need to be conscious about our children that what are they doing outside of the
home.
Motivating Factors to involve in Premarital Relationship
It is not simply the fact that young people get involved in premarital relationship and with
this they are also getting involved in physical relation in an immature age. This is causing
a lot of trouble for the society and our future generation. As an example lack of interests
in marriage, divorce after marriage when he or she knows about his or her spouse
previous relationship.
1. Emotion.
2. Curiosity about Love.
3. Surrounding Environment.
4. Mutual Negotiation.
5. Physical Demand.
6. For removing loneliness.
7. For getting a mutual life partner.
8. For getting financial benefited by the person.
Motivating factors of Break up after being in a premarital relationship
As the findings and the information of the subjects there have some motivating factors
what are responsible for breakup of the premarital relation. Because of this premarital
relationship and the break up a lot of young people is suffering in our society. Some of
them have already taken the decision of not going for marriage or love again. Some of
them have being addicted in drag because of relation break up. They are showing below:
1. Believe.
2. Lack of mutual understanding.
3. Immature age.
4. Keeping two or more premarital relationship on the same time.
5. Selfish thinking of both partners.
6. Quarrel between each other a lot making a gap on them.
On the above the researcher showed you some of main motivation factors what are
responsible for the breakup of premarital relationship. Among them most of the suspects
have given the blame to believe and keeping two or more relation on the same time.
The affect of break up among the young generation and the
universities students
As from the collected information the researcher has got the information that there have a
lot of bad affect of premarital relationship and the break up. Right now we are going to
show you some of them.
Lack of Interest in Marriage
As regards to the significance of marriage to the research subjects, almost all have a
uniform sort of sentiment regarding marriage. After getting break up they are saying
like “I am just pieced of being in a relationship all this days”. So this kind of
thinking is making them more aggressive about the marriage. They are thinking
that if premarital relationship hurts this much and have a l ot of problem what will
happen after the marriage?
Drag addicted
After breaking up when a person become alone he or she feels much loneliness. Then
they try to live by holding something. On that time some of them think about drag,
smoke, others things what is harmful for them. On that time they just get addicted by
different kind of Drag. They just loss their wish to live. So they do not care about
anything.
Suicide
After breaking up some of them think about doing suicide. In the region of Asia there
have a record of Suicide of both male and female because of the break up. This suicide is
making trouble for the victim family and friends. The parents becoming alone losing
their only way to live.
Discussion
At last after getting all of the practical present related information the researcher wants to
say that premarital sexual relation is not alarming in our country maybe that’s why we are
still low percentage on the time of AIDS. Where are the other countries like developed
country the premarital sexual relationship is not a matter of crime? They just consider it
as not a big deal. So among most of the developed countries sexual relationship is
common. Premarital relationship among the school, college students on them is not that
much high. But they also have some good percentage of universities students who are
doing or trying to do premarital relationship. In here as a third world country premarital
sexual relation is not common in here because a lot of reason, as an example religion,
guidline of the parents. Environment, Society behavior, everything have a good affect on
the premarital sexual relation. Maybe that’s why until not the percentage of premarital
sexual relationship is low in here but the main problem is hiding in here that is among
young generation a lot of people doing premarital sexual relationship on the name of just
premarital relationship and the ratio of break up in here is alarming. Because of this kind
of premarital relationship and break up our young generation are affecting a lot. As an
example because of break up “lack of interest in Marriage”, Percentage of Suicide is high
among young generation, Divorce because of the premarital relationship of both male and
female partners, students are being failure of getting their aim, Increase in Drag addicted
person among young generation etc.
.
Conclusion
After all this discussion now we can understand what is practically happening in our
society on the name of premarital relationship. In which aged generation is affecting
more because of this premarital relationship and the big issue of break up. The researcher
tried to discuss all the things in between this investigation. So premarital relationship is a
big issue now in our country, if we cannot get back on the right our young generation on
the right tracks then maybe we will fall in a big trouble. Even we cannot imagine what
can be the side effect of this problem if it carries on its flow. After all of this the
researchers have some recommendation about the matter.
Recommendations
The researcher suggests some recommendation to keep premarital relationship and the
problem of break up under control so that it does not turn hazardous to people involve
and, in turn, to the society. The recommendations are:
a. Interaction among family members should be increased which would contribute to
the strengthening of family tie.
b. Religious preaching must be more elaborate and accurate as regard to the issue.
c. Media should act more responsibly while focusing on the issue.
d. Gender discrimination should be reduced to the possible limit.
e. Adult channels and programs need to be brought under control to restrict
adolescents.
f. The issue should be included in the national curriculum to increase the
consciousness among the all aged people.

Case study 1
There was a school going girl in the Bagerhat district named Miss Munni islam was
studying in the class Nine at the year of 2009. On that time she involved in a premarital
relationship with a boy who was 28 years old. That was her first love. At first they cope
up with the relationship easily but it was getting worse after day by day. The male partner
was starting to give mental pressure to her. Because of the physical demand of the boy.
The boy was giving pressure to make physical relation with him. At first the girl was
disagree. Then one night there was a accidents. The boy and the girl was living in the
same village and they were neighbor. So when the girl disagreed the situation one night
the Boy get into the girl’s room where the girl was sleeping with her all the family
members of the family was in a deep sleep. The boy was successful to fill the physical
demand of his own. The girl could not say anything because of her family reputation and

girl decides to leave the village and she did. After that night the girl’s life changed
because she feels thirsty to being in a relationship again and she did again. So that was
the start after that she did more than five premarital relationship and from four of them
she did break up until not and among five she made physical relation with the three
person.

  • 4. Abstract In the race of modern era, society and culture get changes keeping balance with the time. Bangladesh is no exception in this respect. Some describe this as a facebook culture. Bangladesh’s today’s culture where everything is generating by virtually over the internet was not as same as the 19th century or before that. Today’s facebook culture will not last forever. After a certain period of time it will change again. As a developing third world country Bangladesh have lots of opportunity with that also have lots of societal problem. Some of them are affecting their society directly and some of them are indirectly, some of them people notice some of them they do not. So premarital relationship and the break up has now an direct impact on Bangladeshi society and culture. The researcher will show how this hidden problem come out, main reason of this problem and practical view of what is happening in the reality and how this societal problem affecting the young generation or universities students?

  • 8. Introduction At the beginning of this sociological investigation on premarital relationship and the break up among university’s students, the researcher wants to show you the background of the problem. So in this chapter the researcher will present the Statement of the problem, objectives, Importance, and about the research question of the investigation. Statement of the problem Premarital relationship and the break up is two different things. They are related with each other directly or indirectly. So the researcher will define them separately for the understands of the readers. Premarital relationship is a relationship what commence before marriage between a man and women. It can happen any time in any age before get marriage. In this modern society people make or try to make relationship with each other from the very beginning of their life. As an example, some days back researcher heard a seven years old girl saying “I am studying in class two and I have a Boyfriend”. It is hard to believe that a seven years old girl have a boy friend and what she understands about being in a relationship? And what is the meaning of relationship to her? Well that is not the matter of discussion. So relation is not the matter of age now. It is spreading like internet. In simple word break up means someone was in a relationship before but now he or she get separated from his or her male or female member with whom he or she did premarital relationship. The researcher can say premarital relationship is happening everywhere in the society and the break up problem is also a common word for the people of the society now. So this is the reason why researcher wants to show this problem as a societal problem because it is common now, for being in a premarital relationship and break up. Relationship has lots of kind it can be physical, can be mental, can be define from the view of kinship, and can be side of family. So researcher will not talk about this in here. So as the view of premarital relationship researcher will focus only on the view of universities students. This premarital relationship and the break up is affecting the society roughly, because of this relationship and the break up many school, college, universities students falling behind from their aim of life. Sometime they are trying to kill themselves because of break up. If this things run in this flow, it is not so far away when young generation of the society will be in a big trouble, whom do the researcher see as the future of the nation.
  • 9. Objectives Here have some important objectives of the research, Researcher want to show this. a. To explore the actual factors of being in a premarital relationship and break up. b. To show how this problem has become a major societal problem. c. What is the affect of this societal problem and how this thing is affecting young generation of the society? d. What will be the side affect if these things continue for the country? e. To show you the practical view about this problem to the society that what is happening in the society? Importance In our society women harassment, gender discrimination is a common affair now. This thing is now a matter of discussion in every media, tv channel etc. scholar person present this as a major societal problem but they are not aware of this premarital relationship and the break up affect and effect both for the society, country, and their children. As researcher said before premarital relationship is a common thing among the students, young generation, teenage boys and girls. Even in some place among the young generation, a boy or girl is not accepted to his or her friends and culture if he or she is not in a relationship. Researcher heard somewhere someone is saying “ki tor girl friend nai? Ja tor life e to britha :/”. So in this situation what will happen? That boy or girl will try to make a premarital relation with another for being accepted by his or her others friend. Every work what get done by the people has a good or bad impact. Premarital relationship and break up has also bad and good impact. On a statistic shows that on premarital relationship bad impact is high more than Good impact. The bad impact as an example, immature sexual relationship, mental presser in a teenage age, Bad impact on the study, early marriage from the parents, suicide, etc. Some people say premarital relationship has some good impact also, as an example “ they say If I be in a relationship, I can pass my free time with the partners, I can have a company when I am alone, I think there have someone who love me, who care about me, I can share my feelings with his or her etc.
  • 10. Research question a. What are the motivating factor that driving the young generation to do premarital relationship? b. What are the major reasons behind break up? c. What is the ration or percentage of marriage with the partner who do such kind a relationship? d. How break up affecting the universities students? e. What do the teenage think about being in a premarital relationship? f. What roles can religion and moral play to solve this societal problem? g. What do the parents think about being in a relationship of their children in a growing age?
  • 11. Literature Review Premarital relationship in Asian context While discussing premarital relationship and the break up among the universities students in Asian context, the researcher shall consider the cases of Thailand, Nepal, Philippines and Indonesia. Actually premarital relationship in the other country of the Asia is not that much alarming likes Bangladesh. On the other hand if the researcher talk about the premarital sexual relationship then here have an analysis. The prevalence of premarital sexual among adolescent boys is quite high is Thailand (40 percent), substantial in the Philippines and Nepal (31 per cent and 15 per cent respectively), and low in Indonesia (7 per cent). So after getting all the information the researcher can say that premarital sexual relationship is relatively high this countries but the premarital relationship and the break up is not that much high as ours. Premarital relationship in Bangladesh Context Being a relatively new culture trend in Bangladesh, the premarital sexual relation rate here is negligible. But the premarital relationship and the break up rate is alarming in here. Among many reasons, having planned to study in the future is associated with a lower likelihood of engaging in premarital sex among respondents. In terms of family system, respecting for parents’ values and beliefs about sex is also associated with lower odds of engaging in premarital sex. Discussion with the parents about sex related issue here decreases the risk of having premarital sex by seventy percent, although. It is marginally significant due to the small number of adolescents who ever discuss sex related issues with their parents. After getting all the information from her the researcher can say that premarital sexual relationship is not that much usually in our country but the young generation are suffering because they are doing premarital sexual relation on the name of premarital relationship. The researcher discussed at the findings that physical demand is also a motivating factors for the premarital relationship. So some people use the name of relationship but they actually do sexual relationship. That’s why this issue does not come publicly as a big
  • 12. issue. Everyone from our society gives the permission of premarital relationship but they do not want to give the permission of sexual relation. Methodology Methodology is a way to systematically solve the research problem. Through the methodology we will find out the every related information what we will need to solve the research problem. Methodology means to the choices we make about cases to study methods of data gathering, forms of data analysis etc, in planning and executing a research study. In this chapter researcher will present the why qualitative methodology? .The study area, study population, techniques of data collection, limitation and ethical issues. These are the whole procedure of the research work. Why Qualitative Methodology In this section researcher want to show you that why researcher took Qualitative method as his methodology. Before understanding the why researcher choose this we need to understand what is qualitative methodology? Actually for a research paper we can follow two types of methodology one is qualitative and the other one is quantitative. Quantitative methodology is based on the experiment, survey etc. it’s a measurement way. We can measure the quantity in this method. On the other hand qualitative methodology means it’s actually the theoretical based method. As an example of qualitative method case study, interview, ethnography, focus group discussion, observation etc. Premarital relationship is not a disclosed thing until now in our society. Everyone wants to keep this thing close. So as the researcher think that here have a lots of points issues what we cannot measure in quantity. So that why for the help of solving this societal problem researcher took the theoretical or qualitative method as the research methodology. Study Site The researcher knows that to conduct a research or to present the picture of the research, you must need to select an area for your research. As our research topic is the “premarital relationship and the break up among the universities students” we selected different universities for our investigation, as an example East West University, IUB, EDEN, Atish Deponkor University, we took exception as college Raihan College Azimpur, As a School VNSC. All of the school college and universities situated in Dhaka City.
  • 13. Study Population It is a big problem for the researcher to select a prefect group of people for your research. In here researcher targeted those people who have a good communication with him from different universities, as it is a hidden problem for the society so everyone was not that much easy to get the correct information. In this research the study population includes both male and female ranging from young to middle adult. Sample Size As Bangladesh is involved the third world Muslim country, where most of our people is Muslim. We cannot get all of the hidden stories from the people. So it was so difficult to get the stories but even after that the researcher tried his best in this respect he got the help from a group of people. The researcher conducted a interview of 3 students from the school, 3 students from the college and 5 students from the University with this two story of being in a relationship and after that break up. Data Collection Instruments The data for the study have been collected by some of psychical and indirect interview. The researcher used face to face interview, interview over the skype, interview over the facebook chat, interview over the phone, so everyone know that premarital relationship and the break up is a major problem in our country now. As it is making a lot of problem for the society. It is matter of fact on what we need to give a good attention on it, the premarital relationship and break up making some of the major problem. Pre-test Collection the needed data on the research problem is not that kind a easy. There have a lot of reason behind this, some subject may not give you the correct information or will tell you false, than your research will be in a big trouble. You will not get the exact over all practical view of this problem. So before collecting the main data the researcher made a good relation with the subjects and need to make them easy to say the truth and correct
  • 14. information. The researcher also collected the raw data for the research problem before collecting the main data. Data Processing and Analysis Data analysis is the process of systematically searching arranging the interview transcripts, field notes and other martial that the researchers accumulate to increase the ir understanding of the study and to enable them to present what they have discovered. Qualitative results have been obtained manually and the researcher has prepared the study based on the transcripts of the interview and case studies. Reliability and Validity To construct the study reliable and valid, the researcher has used both direct and indirect or virtual interview and case studies. The researcher’s interviewing as a non-partisan as well as the length and intensity of interview session have greatly increased the validity and reliability of collected data. The study design also makes it possible to triangulate the qualitative findings from core respondents with the findings derived from in-depth interview. Limitation of the Study The researcher had to complete the investigation in a short time, although the time was enough for me to complete the research but if the researcher get more time on this topic than he can added more practical information from the subject. They could be more help full to get the exact view of this investigation. 1. As we are talking about a matter which is not so published and cannot be shared with everyone. The researcher had to face the problem of getting the hidden information. 2. The researcher had a problem with the time, as we know everyone is busy in today’s world so that was tough to match the time with the subject to talk about the matter. 3. The researcher had a difficulty to show the exact findings of the research problem, because it was so tough to gather all the information and make them understand to the viewer.
  • 15. Findings As we know that finding is the main part of the research problem. Because in the finding section we must need to show the raw practical data what researcher collected from the different place, researcher needed to collect the data and arrange the data what viewer can understand easily. In this section researcher will show you the arranging data and exact findings about the investigation. The real factors what is influencing the young generation to do the premarital relationship? Profile of the subjects. What are the reasons behind the break up? ON THE YEAR OF 2012 AGE PERCENTAGE OF BEING IN A PREMARITAL RELATION 13 TO 16 79% 16 TO 20 65% 20 TO 25 50% 25 TO 30 30% So on the age of 13 to 16 age people are consider as teenage. So you can see that the tendency and the percentage of being in a premarital relation are high on the time of school going people. The researcher got some reason behind this. First reason is the emotion 13 to 16 a boy or girl remain emotional, they do not think much before doing such a thing, that is their growing time, second reason is their have boys or girls who motivate them to do so, can be their friend or relatives or family members. At the age of 16 to 20 people remain in a college sector in our country. So on that time their emotion cannot drive them to do so. That is their growing age on that time they start to think about their future. So because of that percentage of being in a relationship in less
  • 16. than teenage aged guys. They try to think legal or positive way, there have another thing the researcher want to show you, that is the tendency of being in a relationship remain low but the tendency of doing sexual relation with the friends, relatives etc remain high. At the age of 20 to 25 a man or women remain in a university level. They do not get that much time to think about the relationship in this age. They think about their study, they think about their future aim, leading a happy and peaceful life do not want to get attached in premarital relation, they think about their family, they fixed it up that they will not do any kind a relation, their marriage will be arranged by their parents. But even after that some of the people do premarital relation on the universities time, but the ration of break up among them is low. They try to choose the right person for the next of their life. At last at the age of 25 to 30 people become mature and they have the perfect knowledge about everything. On that time they need to think about their corporate life, family, marriage etc, So there have some rare people who do relationship in this age. Actually in this age people have a tendency to arrange marriage. So in this section the researcher will start by giving you the profile or background information of the subjects. Profile of the Subjects At first researcher divided the young generation by their age. By relating in which position they are in now? In here the subjects some of them are students, some of them are in the job. The raw data was collected from based on the area of Dhaka city. Some of the subjects are from the same area and some of them are not. Name Age Home district Educational level or institution Profession Religio n Until No. of Relationshi p Until No. of Break up A Female 14 Khulna Class Nine On VNS Student Islam 5 4 B Female 13 Barisal Class Eight On VNS student Islam 10 8 C Female 16 Dhaka SSC Candidate On VNS Student Hindu 6 3
  • 17. D Male 18 Comilla HSC Second year On Raihan School and College Student Islam 4 3 E Male 20 Khulna HSC Candidate On Raihan School and College Student Islam 4 4 F Male 21 Comilla HSC Candidate On Dhaka Imperial College Student Islam 3 2 G Female 23 Faridpur Student Of BBA department On IUB student Islam 2 1 H Female 22 Bagerhat Student Of Social worker On Eden girls College Student Islam 3 2 I Male 23 Bagerhat Student Of BBA On EWU Student Islam 2 2 So based on the information easily we can calculate the ratio or percentage of the young generation participate on Premarital relationship and Break up. Before showing you the profile of the subjects the researcher showed you the percentage analysis of the premarital relationship and the break up. So after analyzing all of the information the researcher has got some motivating factors for premarital relationship. So after getting all this information the researcher can say that the tendency to do premarital relationship is high on school going students. Now in recent they are making more relationship and doing break up commonly. So we can say that teenage people are affecting now more by this relationship. On the other hand in youth and middle aged people are not attached widely with this premarital relationships where they want to just lead a happy and peace full life with his or her family and also want to get marriage by the choice of their parents. About the universities students they are also doing premarital relationship but the percentage is not that much high. But it will not constant so the corrective action to prevent this social problem we must need to be conscious about our children that what are they doing outside of the home.
  • 18. Motivating Factors to involve in Premarital Relationship It is not simply the fact that young people get involved in premarital relationship and with this they are also getting involved in physical relation in an immature age. This is causing a lot of trouble for the society and our future generation. As an example lack of interests in marriage, divorce after marriage when he or she knows about his or her spouse previous relationship. 1. Emotion. 2. Curiosity about Love. 3. Surrounding Environment. 4. Mutual Negotiation. 5. Physical Demand. 6. For removing loneliness. 7. For getting a mutual life partner. 8. For getting financial benefited by the person. Motivating factors of Break up after being in a premarital relationship As the findings and the information of the subjects there have some motivating factors what are responsible for breakup of the premarital relation. Because of this premarital relationship and the break up a lot of young people is suffering in our society. Some of them have already taken the decision of not going for marriage or love again. Some of them have being addicted in drag because of relation break up. They are showing below: 1. Believe. 2. Lack of mutual understanding. 3. Immature age. 4. Keeping two or more premarital relationship on the same time. 5. Selfish thinking of both partners. 6. Quarrel between each other a lot making a gap on them.
  • 19. On the above the researcher showed you some of main motivation factors what are responsible for the breakup of premarital relationship. Among them most of the suspects have given the blame to believe and keeping two or more relation on the same time. The affect of break up among the young generation and the universities students As from the collected information the researcher has got the information that there have a lot of bad affect of premarital relationship and the break up. Right now we are going to show you some of them. Lack of Interest in Marriage As regards to the significance of marriage to the research subjects, almost all have a uniform sort of sentiment regarding marriage. After getting break up they are saying like “I am just pieced of being in a relationship all this days”. So this kind of thinking is making them more aggressive about the marriage. They are thinking that if premarital relationship hurts this much and have a l ot of problem what will happen after the marriage? Drag addicted After breaking up when a person become alone he or she feels much loneliness. Then they try to live by holding something. On that time some of them think about drag, smoke, others things what is harmful for them. On that time they just get addicted by different kind of Drag. They just loss their wish to live. So they do not care about anything. Suicide After breaking up some of them think about doing suicide. In the region of Asia there have a record of Suicide of both male and female because of the break up. This suicide is making trouble for the victim family and friends. The parents becoming alone losing their only way to live.
  • 20. Discussion At last after getting all of the practical present related information the researcher wants to say that premarital sexual relation is not alarming in our country maybe that’s why we are still low percentage on the time of AIDS. Where are the other countries like developed country the premarital sexual relationship is not a matter of crime? They just consider it as not a big deal. So among most of the developed countries sexual relationship is common. Premarital relationship among the school, college students on them is not that much high. But they also have some good percentage of universities students who are doing or trying to do premarital relationship. In here as a third world country premarital sexual relation is not common in here because a lot of reason, as an example religion, guidline of the parents. Environment, Society behavior, everything have a good affect on the premarital sexual relation. Maybe that’s why until not the percentage of premarital sexual relationship is low in here but the main problem is hiding in here that is among young generation a lot of people doing premarital sexual relationship on the name of just premarital relationship and the ratio of break up in here is alarming.
