• computer use must support our business and mission
• sexually explicit material prohibited
• no expectation of privacy
• report misuse to campus authorities
• incidental use of internet and email is permitted
Confidentiality
• do not attempt to access unauthorized data
• do not disclose confidential information
Social Media
• ensure your content does not express the opinions of UTHSCT

Data Protection
• lock your workstation when you leave it
• do not share passwords
• email containing confidential information must be
encrypted by typing UTSECURE in the subject line
Virus Protection
• personally owned computers accessing UTHSCT systems
must have virus protection software installed
Email Use
• do not access others email
• do not forward suspected spam/virus
• do not use personal email to conduct UTHSCT business

Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act.
Your rights under FERPA:
• inspect and review your educational record
• seek amendment of the record if believed to be
inaccurate
• consent to disclose personally identifiable
information except when FERPA allows disclosure
without consent
• to be notified of your privacy rights
• to file a complaint with the US Department of
Education

You may also opt out of student directory information published by
UTHSCT. The following has been designated as directory information:
•name
•address
•email
•telephone number
•place of birth
•field of study and dates of attendance
•enrollment status
•student classification
•degrees awarded
•certificates and awards
•photographs
•participation in officially recognized activities and sports
•weight and height of members of athletic teams
•most recent previous educational agency or institution attended

• All UTHSCT students are expected and required to
adhere to Federal, State and local laws.
• Students are expected and required to adhere to UT
Board of Regent’s Rules, UT System and UTHSCT
policies.
• Any student who violates these rules is subject to
disciplinary action.

Actions subject to disciplinary actions:
• scholastic dishonesty
• illegal drugs
• conduct that endangers health and safety of
others
• disruptions
• inciting lawless action
• unauthorized use of property
• hazing
8. Title IX
THE UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS HEALTH SCIENCE CENTER AT TYLER
Title IX is a Federal law that prohibits discrimination based
on sex.
“No person in the United States shall, on the basis of
sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the
benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under
any educational program or activity receiving federal
financial assistance.”

THE UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS HEALTH SCIENCE CENTER AT TYLER
• UTHSCT will not tolerate sexual assault in any form,
including acquaintance rape. Sexual assault refers to
rape as well as other forms of forcible or non-forcible
activity. Sexual assault occurs when one person
threatens, or uses violence or coercion to cause another
person to participate in any type of forced sexual activity.
• A UTHSCT student charged with sexual assault can be
prosecuted under state criminal statutes and/or
disciplined under the UTHSCT Student Code of
Conduct.

11. Reporting Concerns

• You are encouraged to report instances of suspected non compliance with
laws, regulations, or policies.
• There are several ways to report possible issues which are believed to be
non-compliant.
