2. Analyze the Learner
•There are 25 students in my 8th grade English classroom
•14 girls and 11 boys
•Races: White, African American, Asian, and Hispanic
•50% of the students are average learners, 20% are below average, and 30% are above
average.
•Learner: Visual, Tactile
3. Main Objectives
The 8th grade English students will learn about the elements of a short story by
reading a short story, analyzing, diagramming, and completing a creative activity.
Students will identify the 5 elements of a short story, analyze the short story, plot
diagram a short story, and analyze theme. Using a various media and resources, the
students will recognize and show the elements of short stories. Students will have a
95% understanding about short stories by the end of a five day learning period.
