Zero Hunger
Isabella Damian
If you cannot feed a hundred people, then feed just one.”
–Mother Teresa
Why does this
resonate with
me?
Growing up, my parents always reminded me how
fortunate I am, to be grateful for everything I have
and taught me about those less fortunate. I am very
lucky to indulge in 3 meals a day and most times I feel
guilty. This project resonates with me because it
helps me be more aware of the problems around the
world and teaches me how to take action. I would
love to help make a difference in the starving world
and end hunger. Every chance I get, I always give my
left overs or spare change to those in need. Being
able to help others allows me to enjoy what I have.
• Over 820 million (10.7%) of the world’s
population are suffering from hunger. 1 in every
9 people in the world.
• Children are the most visible victims of
undernutrition. 3.1 million children each year.
• 2/3 of undernourished people live in two regions
– Sub-Saharan Africa and Southern Asia
• Climate-induced shocks, civil insecurity and
declining food production have all contributed to
food scarcity and high food prices.
Hunger Statistics
UN Goals for 2030
• End hunger and ensure access by all people, in
particular the poor and people in vulnerable
situations, including infants, to safe, nutritious
and sufficient food all year round.
• End all forms of malnutrition
• Double the agricultural productivity and incomes
• Ensure sustainable food production systems and implement
resilient agricultural practices that increase productivity and
production, that help maintain ecosystems, that strengthen
capacity for adaptation to climate change, extreme weather,
drought, flooding and other disasters and that progressively
improve land and soil quality.
