How many of you are hungry right now? Now imagine having to feel that way all of the time.
Hunger Facts As a result of hunger, six million children under the age of 5 die every year. 13.0 million of U.S. households were food insecure at some time during 2007. 104 million of U.S. households were food secure throughout 2007.
Facts Food secure—These households had access, at all times, to enough food for an active, healthy life for all household members. In 2007, 36.2 million people lived in food-insecure households, including 12.4 million children.  Of these individuals, 8.2 million adults and 3.7 million children lived in households with very low food security.
Facts 433 million people across the word are hungry. 16,000 children die every day from hunger related issues, 1 every 5 seconds. In 2005, 1.4 billion people lived below the international poverty line (less than $1.25 a day). 820 million people in the developing world are undernourished.
Facts In 2006 there were 9.7 million. 9 million people die worldwide each year due to mal-nutrition. 5 million of these people are children. There are one billion people that don’t even earn $1.00 a day.
Statistics Direct cost of hunger is estimated at 30 billion a year. 15 million children die each year from hunger. For the price of one missile, a school full of hungry children could eat lunch every day for 5 years. Every 3.6 seconds someone dies of hunger. Hunger is the most extreme form of poverty.
