Seattle Code Camp 2016- Role of Data Science in HHealthcareRuba Qaqish
Everyone loves to shake a stick at the healthcare industry for being backward. The fact is that there is no lack of technology or data in healthcare. The biggest challenge for healthcare providers is to identify what questions to ask the data. My team has implemented over 75 enterprise data warehouse projects in the US healthcare industry.
This talk shares some of the examples of how data is used in the healthcare industry for compliance reporting (BI) and predictive analytics.
At the end, I will also share some ideas on what questions to ask from healthcare data. Some of these ideas are now products built by industry leaders like Caradigm, GE Healthcare, Get:Well Network and Philips Healthcare.
Perhaps, you will be inspired to build the next game changing product for the healthcare industry!
Cloud-Based CRM with On-Premises Integration at a Diversified Financial Servi...Iver Band
Last year, The Standard, a diversified financial service company, delivered two phases of its enterprise CRM solution for its Employee Benefits Sales and Retirement Plans Service functions. However, many of the data sources and applications necessary for a complete solution remained on-premises, presenting significant application integration challenges. To develop and gain approval for the solution architecture, the project architects combined an internal architecture development method based on elements of the Eclipse Process Framework with the ArchiMate® language and a powerful viewpoint from the TOGAF® Architecture Content Framework. This presentation gives an overview of the solution architecture and the architecture development process, with a focus on application integration. It explores how IT organizations can provide business value by integrating cloud-based CRM with established line-of-business applications. This presentation illustrates how the ArchiMate language can be used to model business, application, technology and information architectures, and how it empowers architects, enhances communication between diverse stakeholders, and complements existing architecture methods.
Key takeaways:
1. Typical enterprise CRM architecture problems and solutions for financial services companies
2. Techniques for integrating cloud and on-premises applications
3. How the ArchiMate language is used to develop and communicate complex solution architectures

Making the Most Out of Your Company's Expertisetibbr
In the professional services industry, expertise is one of your most valuable resources. Yet it's often fragmented and distributed haphazardly around your whole organization. And, since it's impractical to have all your employees working on one client all the time, your company's ability to grow depends on making expertise available to more clients more often by tapping into the collective knowledge of the organization.
HLB Mann Judd, the fast growing, dynamic network of professional accounting firms and business advisors, is no exception to this rule. They recognized that endless email chains and phone-tag aren't the best way to communicate and share information. So they turned to an Enterprise Social Network because the research firm, McKinsey Global Institute, estimated that an ESN can streamline the internal search for experts and information by 35 percent.

Epistemic Interaction - tuning interfaces to provide information for AI supportAlan Dix
Paper presented at SYNERGY workshop at AVI 2024, Genoa, Italy. 3rd June 2024
https://alandix.com/academic/papers/synergy2024-epistemic/
As machine learning integrates deeper into human-computer interactions, the concept of epistemic interaction emerges, aiming to refine these interactions to enhance system adaptability. This approach encourages minor, intentional adjustments in user behaviour to enrich the data available for system learning. This paper introduces epistemic interaction within the context of human-system communication, illustrating how deliberate interaction design can improve system understanding and adaptation. Through concrete examples, we demonstrate the potential of epistemic interaction to significantly advance human-computer interaction by leveraging intuitive human communication strategies to inform system design and functionality, offering a novel pathway for enriching user-system engagements.

I have heard many times that architecture is not important for the front-end. Search and Society: Reimagining Information Access for Radical FuturesBhaskar Mitra
The field of Information retrieval (IR) is currently undergoing a transformative shift, at least partly due to the emerging applications of generative AI to information access. In this talk, we will deliberate on the sociotechnical implications of generative AI for information access. We will argue that there is both a critical necessity and an exciting opportunity for the IR community to re-center our research agendas on societal needs while dismantling the artificial separation between the work on fairness, accountability, transparency, and ethics in IR and the rest of IR research. Instead of adopting a reactionary strategy of trying to mitigate potential social harms from emerging technologies, the community should aim to proactively set the research agenda for the kinds of systems we should build inspired by diverse explicitly stated sociotechnical imaginaries. The sociotechnical imaginaries that underpin the design and development of information access technologies needs to be explicitly articulated, and we need to develop theories of change in context of these diverse perspectives. Our guiding future imaginaries must be informed by other academic fields, such as democratic theory and critical theory, and should be co-developed with social science scholars, legal scholars, civil rights and social justice activists, and artists, among others.

Kubernetes & AI - Beauty and the Beast !?! @KCD Istanbul 2024Tobias Schneck
As AI technology is pushing into IT I was wondering myself, as an “infrastructure container kubernetes guy”, how get this fancy AI technology get managed from an infrastructure operational view? Is it possible to apply our lovely cloud native principals as well? What benefit’s both technologies could bring to each other?
Let me take this questions and provide you a short journey through existing deployment models and use cases for AI software. On practical examples, we discuss what cloud/on-premise strategy we may need for applying it to our own infrastructure to get it to work from an enterprise perspective. I want to give an overview about infrastructure requirements and technologies, what could be beneficial or limiting your AI use cases in an enterprise environment. An interactive Demo will give you some insides, what approaches I got already working for real.

Joshua – have pasted this in from our template - feel free to adjust template/colours etc.Notes:Clear, business-specific purposeYPG’s initiative very tightly tied to the broader digital transformation strategyImportant to a) convince people that it’s worth doing, and b) prove that you have been successful. Strong use casestwo initial use cases – sales/marketing and HR - where there was immediate and clear value to be gained helped to focus training activities and to get people familiar with the platformBalanced strategy to bring about faster adoptionseeding viral adoption (through early adopters) while also having a top-down strategy for encouraging and supporting adoptionAlso actively targeting the middle management layer through its training programme, and through pressure from the CEOSocial seen in the context of the broader IT environmentYPG didn’t implement social in a vaccuum, instead integrated into intranet environment, part of the bigger picture.Open and trusting approach to governanceYPGallowed people to explore its potential for themselves while ensuring they understand their accountabilitymuch harder to get people to be more open and collaborative than it is to put them off
