2. Hands on skills promotion
We believe that when farmers acquire practical skills, the agricultural world will be sustainable.
For example when farmers get practical skills in agriculture, livestock and value addition,
income will increase as well as standards of living.
Accountability
As the organization wants quality work to the public, accountability in all of its activities is
paramount. Field work has to be followed in relation to the work plan and set objectives.
Cooperation
The organization believes for successful activities; cooperation has to be among members, with
local government, community based organizations and Non-government organizations.
Nature and environment
All activities have to work in ecosystem; the environment has to be preserved in proper use of
fertilizers, tree planting and sustainable use of natural resources.
Sustainability
The company believes that in improving agriculture for a better living, farmers will get
permanent practical skills for day today farming activities.
The project started in 2013 by a group of agricultural finalists of Bishop Stuart University as the
way of job creation with little pocket money savings and some small handout from parents by
giving services to people through raising and selling of good quality seedlings, project planning
and management, marketing of agricultural produce in Mbarara district. Later the project offered
consultancy in tree planting and management, advisory for both crops and livestock which raised
some capital for the expansion of the project. In 2014 the board sat and agreed to change its
name from project to the organization and register it as a company for giving services in
agriculture and livestock production in Uganda with its offices in Mbarara district South Western
Uganda.

livestock for high production, planning, cost benefit ratio, marketing of the produce, record
keeping, saving and sustainability.

The organization will recruit its own staff and other external organizations, coach and develop
them to be responsible service delivery staffs in their work places.

The organization already has a stall in Mbarara central market which sells fresh agricultural
produce and also has made connections with Kabwohe banana traders association, Mbarara
traders association and even we are hoping to open up new branches in all regions of the country
where the farmers’ produce can be marketed with ease.
Post harvesting handling, Agro-processing and value addition
Different agricultural produce will be treated to increase their shelf life both in our model farm
and clients’ farms.

We currently opened these lines for the farmers to get services at the base of pyramid for
effective crop and animal production in Runyakitara, English, Rufumbira and Swahili. The lines

Agriculture survey and research
The organization will be doing agricultural survey for different regions and compiling the results

friendly mechanisms of adoption of new technologies approved by research.
Nursery bed set up and management
We already have a nursery bed for tree and fruit seedlings so, we want to train the farmers how
to make the nursery beds and management to reduce on the expenses for buying and transporting
seedlings which they can raise at their farms.

Project planning, resources required, cost of the project, expected output and benefits/ profits per
selected enterprise.

6. Massive job creation sensitization
As the project started with little savings but now has reached the extent of being a recognized
company. We shall be moving to all regions sharing our successful stories so, that all the youth
can be self-employed rather than looking for jobs.
Irrigation system set up and management
The organization will set macro and micro irrigation systems for the farmers as a way of
continuous production because of rainfall that has become unreliable. So the organization will
utilize the water bodies and even construct shallow wells/dams in places where natural water
streams are not available.
Mushroom growing technologies
The organization has a future plan of sharing skills with farmers on mushroom growing and
processing as they steady source of income and rich in vitamins for improving health.
Aquaculture and apiculture
Fish farming and bee keeping technologies will be shared to the farmers on planning, selection of
the farming systems, layouts, identification of local materials for constructing structures,
breeding of the stock, selection of the breed, type of materials to use, catchment areas, stocking
and management.
Agriculture tour and guide
Farmers need exposure to the lead farmers to get more outlooks in agriculture, so the
organization has the model farmers it started with where farmers will be taken to see agriculture
as a business.
Green house management
Green houses occupies little space and the harvestable produce per area is high hence the
organization considers it as vital to the farmers for increased production.
Youth development initiative Plant and Animal Clinic
For health crops and animals; diseases and pests/ parasites diagnosis and treatment has to be one
of the priorities and the organization has a plan for a fully stocked clinic where farmers can get
rightful services for their crops and animals.

As the way of increasing market for the farmers produce, YDIL is planning to have a restaurant
and a fruit centre that will buy farmers produce daily.

This will get all fresh produce from farmers and it will have outlets in all major towns in the
country and even the buyers will order online for ease delivery at their homesteads.

animals with aim of generating income to the school and to equip the students and the

is an agricultural institution for higher learning leading to the award of diploma in crop and
animal production and management with its main campus in Ruti-Mbarara district.

This institute is situated in Kihiihi-Kanungu district that up brings the students with hands on
skills in both crops and livestock. One of our staff has been an assistant agriculture tutor for two
years in nurturing students to have hands on skills and experience in agriculture.
Bishop Stuart University: Agriculture, farm management and training.
This is a recognized institution for higher learning in Uganda that trains students in different
courses leading to award of bachelor’s degrees and diplomas. One of our staff has been an
assistant lecturer in department of agriculture and agribusiness for one and half years majoring in
crop and animal production.
Brac Uganda Limited: Agriculture, staff supervision and crop agronomy.
This is an international NGO operating in Uganda with its country office in Busingiri Zone –Nyanama-
Kampala. It empowers people and communities in fields of health, agriculture, poultry and livestock,
