PSY 638 Final Project Milestone One Guidelines and Rubric
Prompt: For Milestone One of your final project, you will submit a draft of the Problem Identification section of your grant proposal. Think about the professional
environment you will be seeking upon graduation and a potential problem within that professional environment that could be solved through your
recommended program. Some examples of professional settings and grant proposal problems include:
School/Educational Setting
Orchard Middle School has over 50 at-risk students with a reading performance that directly affects their overall self-esteem and negative behavior
issues. The school submitted a grant proposal to support development of a program to help all students with poor reading skills learn to read at grade
level and increase their reading speed, comprehension, and reading attention span and overall sense of worth, esteem, and achievement. Studies have
shown those who do better in school, fare better with stable mental health.
Outpatient Mental Health
The Open Arms Family Center requested a grant in the amount of $250,000 to contribute to the start-up funds for a family homeless shelter and mental
health services. As an innovative, all-inclusive shelter program, the center aimed to provide for 10 families with children under the age of five who are
experiencing homelessness. The center is committed to its mission of decreasing the overall number of homeless families in the Metro Boston area as
well as working to break the cycle of homelessness.
Community Outreach
The purpose of Healthy Tomorrows is to stimulate innovative, community-based programs that employ prevention strategies to promote access to
healthcare for children and their families nationwide. HTPCP funding supports direct-service projects, not research projects. Healthy Tomorrows is
designed to support family-centered initiatives that implement innovative approaches for focusing resources to promote community; define preventive
child health and developmental objectives for vulnerable children and their families, especially those with limited access to quality health services; foster
cooperation among community organizations, agencies, and families; involve pediatricians and other pediatric, child, and adolescent mental health
professionals; build community and statewide partnerships among professionals in health, education, social services, government, and business to
achieve self-sustaining programs to ensure healthy children and families. Healthy Tomorrows requested a grant proposal for $10,000 to conduct a needs
analysis for a meal delivery program to serve its less mobile community members.
Specifically, the following critical elements must be addressed in your milestone assignment:
I. Problem Identification: Research and identify resources for a specific developmental, behavioral, or diagnostic need for children or adolescents in
your community.

IDS 401 Milestone Four Guidelines and Rubric
Analyzing an Issue or Event in Globalization through the Lenses
of the Natural and Applied Sciences and the Social Sciences
Overview
For the first part of your final project, the critical analysis portfolio, you will select a specific issue or event in globalization and critically analyze it through the
four general education lenses: history, humanities, social sciences, and natural and applied sciences. By viewing the issue or event through these lenses, you will
gain insight into how the interconnected nature of globalization affects society as well as both your own individual framework of perception and the choices,
attitudes, and behaviors of others in the world around you.
For this fourth milestone, due in Module Six, you will analyze your issue or event in globalization through the lenses of the natural and applied sciences and the
social sciences. Like Milestone Two, this task provides you with an opportunity to dive deeper into your analysis of the issuer or event through these two lenses.
Prompt
First, review your work in Modules Five and Six as well as the Four Lenses document from Module One.
Next, analyze your popular-culture artifact through the natural and applied sciences by exploring the following questions:
How does this issue or event provide a social commentary through the natural and applied sciences?
In what ways can science help resolve or enhance your issue or event?
Next, analyze your popular-culture artifact through the lens of the social sciences, and address the following:
How does this issue or event interact with the social sciences lens and impact social issues?
In what ways does the Social Science lens help articulate a deeper understanding of the social issue(s) that inform your issue or event?
This milestone provides you with a chance to practice analyzing your issue or event through these lenses and receive feedback on this practice attempt.
Note: You are completing two separate analyses: one from the natural and applied sciences and one from the social sciences. You must submit two papers in a
single Word document.
1
Be sure to use evidence from research to support your analysis. Refer to course resources, the LibGuide for this course, as well as any other pertinent resources
to support your responses. Relevant current news sources may be used with instructor approval. Incorporate instructor feedback into your final project.
The following critical elements must be addressed:
I. Lens Analysis: In this section of your assignment, you will analyze your issue or event through two of the four general education lenses.
A. Analyze your issue or event through the lens of the natural and applied sciences for determining its impact on various institutions. Utilize
evidence from research to support your analysis.

Two Primary Outcomes of Human Resource Management
Assignment Overview
The two primary outcomes of HR management are recruitment and retention. Through HR planning, managers anticipate the future supply of and demand for employees and the nature of workforce issues, including the retention of employees. These factors are used when recruiting applicants for job openings. Being able to recruit and retain the “best” employees have been difficult tasks for HR managers. The “best” employees are not necessarily the most qualified individuals (e.g., the most educated or with the most work experience), rather it is the individuals who provide value to an organization, who complement the organization, who understand and embrace the organization’s mission, and who fit the culture of the organization. This quandary is a result of a number of different variables such as: job satisfaction, organizational commitment, job performance, and motivation. The following figure illustrates the two outcomes of HR management.
Two Main Outcomes of HR
Furthermore, contemporary HR managers also are tasked with assisting with peak performance initiatives because of escalated global demands and competition.
Case Assignment
Drawing on the material in the background readings and doing additional research, please prepare a 3-5 page paper (not including the cover and reference pages) in which you:
Discuss the connection between recruitment and retention.
You will discuss whether you believe it is better to (1) hire hard and manage easy or (2) make up for bad selection with good training.
Discuss strategies for retaining employees.
Assignment Expectations
Your paper will be evaluated on the following points:
Precision: Does the paper address the question(s) or task(s)?
Clarity: Is the writing clear and are the concepts articulated properly? Are responses made through paraphrasing and synthesis of concepts? (Or is there excessive use of quotations?) Are headings included in all papers longer than 2 pages?
Breadth: Is the full breadth of the subject addressed?
Depth: Does the paper address the topic in sufficient depth?
Grammar, spelling, and vocabulary: Is the paper well-written? Are the grammar, spelling, and vocabulary suitable to graduate-level work?
Referencing (citations and references): Does the paper use citations and quotation marks when appropriate?
Critical thinking: Is the subject thought about critically, i.e., accurately, logically, relevantly, and precisely?

Strategies
In the 21

The Characteristics of the evidence-based practice (EBP)
The evidence-based program is defined as the programs that are effective and this is based on the rigorous assessment. One of the key features of EBP is that they have been assessed thoroughly in an experimental or quasi-experimental study. The evaluation of the EBP has been subjected to critical peer review and this implies that a conclusion has been reached by the evaluation experts. The EBP requires the ability to differentiate between the unverified opinions concerning the psychosocial interventions and the facts about their effectiveness. It is involving the process of inquiry that is provided to the practitioners and described for the physicians. This is important in integrating the best evidence, clinical expertise, and patient values as well as the situations that are linked to the management of the patient, management of the practice, and health policy decision-making processes (Small & O'Connor, 2007).
The assessment of the factors that are supporting or impeding the adoption of the evidence-based practice
Several factors are associated with the failure to the successful adoption of EBP. The implementation of EBP for example in healthcare facilities requires the dedication of time. Therefore, lack of adequate time for the training and implementation of the EBP makes it hard to adopt it within the facility. The adoption of evidence-based practice also requires adequate resources. This, therefore, implies that there must be adequate resources to facilitate the effective implementation and the adoption of the EBP. This, therefore, implies that smaller organizations with unstable capital income might not adopt the EBP. Another barrier is the inability to understand the statistical terms or the jargons used in the EBP. This leads to barriers in understanding thus making it hard to implement the EBP (Duncombe, 2018). Therefore, the factors that might support the implementation of the EBP are the availability of resources and adequate time.

PSY 638 Final Project Guidelines and Rubric
Overview
The final project for this course is the creation of a grant proposal.
The assessment for this course will be the construction of a grant proposal that targets a current area of developmental, behavioral, or diagnostic need for
children or adolescents in your community. The final project represents an authentic demonstration of competency, because it requires you to apply concepts
from across the child and adolescent curriculum to compose an original grant proposal for a theoretically supported, age-specific, and effective intervention
program. Terms commonly used in grant proposals include problem identification, prevalence, assessment of resources, impact of the problem, and
implementation plan. The meaning of these grant terms is revealed in the critical elements listed in the prompt, in which you will be asked to devise a grant
proposal that one would submit in the field of psychology. Grant proposals could be submitted for funding for research, training, institutional upgrades,
nonprofit center grants, funding opportunities, grants for children’s programs, or grants for specific outreach programs such as engaging underrepresented
cultures. The purpose of this task is to assess your understanding of concepts from across the child and adolescent curriculum.
Some real-world examples of grant proposal ideas have included:
The purpose of Healthy Tomorrows is to stimulate innovative community-based programs that employ prevention strategies to promote access to
health care for children and their families nationwide. HTPCP funding supports direct-service projects, not research projects. Healthy Tomorrows is
designed to support family-centered initiatives that implement innovative approaches for focusing resources to promote community; define preventive

The CIRO (context, inputs, reactions, outcomes) method for training evaluation is objective based in the long run. Context is referring to the environment that the training was used for and if it effectively should have met the needs of the organization. This also applies to how the objectives were chosen. The inputs evaluation focuses on the participants and the equipment and facilities needed for the program. This includes budgets as well as stakeholders and anyone involved in the process. The reactions evaluation gauges the reactions of the trainees to the training program. It is important that they receive the training well so they can implement it and encourage others to do so. The outcomes must be measurable against the objectives that were first put in place.
An example of this would be my current project at work. I am the process owner for a LEAN event. Part of our lean event is starting with a project charter, an SOP, and a SIPOC. The charter contains team members, current metrics and project goals. The SIPOC identifies the suppliers, inputs, process, outputs, customers involved in the process. At the end of the project, to conduct a CIRO evaluation, we would look closer at the project charter and the SIPOC to evaluate the context and inputs. The reactions of employees are being gauged during the project but also after the project is completed we will do a follow up to see if there are unmet needs and if the trainees were happy with the LEAN event. We will identify if the employees thought the GEMBA walk and KAIZEN event were useful to the task at hand. The outcomes will be evaluated based on if our new processes were implemented and if we improved our performance metrics. We will also evaluate if the employees learned new skills.
The CIRO method can be a great tool for measuring training effectiveness because it focuses on a well thought out plan as well as metrics. There is a lot of information that must be analyzed in the CIRO method such as who is involved and why the training is taking place. There are also downsides to the CIRO method. If you do not have specific goals in place it can be hard to measure. You may also lose focus and might not be able to put all of your attention to the problem at hand. You may end up with excess data that does not help the CIRO evaluation.

How does it happen?
E.g., “The play is built in a series of episodes, alternating personal struggles against a backdrop of the larger social/political struggles.”
What does it mean?

Character
Main character Description
E.g., “Courage is a middle-aged mother of three who will stop at nothing to exploit the financial opportunities she encounters. Her role in the play is ‘survivor.’ Her character is the ‘anti-mom’—a woman who sees her children (and other human beings) as a collection of debits and credits.”
Second Character Description
Thought—what are the ideas in the play
e.g., Mother Courage looks at the intersection of war and commerce and how one feeds off the other, to the destruction of land, civilization, and families. The ideas arise out of the work of Karl Marx. Summarize--
Historical (Where and When) Philosophical (What & Why)

Conclusion
A paragraph about your particular feelings about the play—did it engage you? Were you changed, even a little? Goethe asked three questions—What was it trying to do? How well was it done? Was it worth doing? Answer these questions.

The purpose of Healthy Tomorrows is to stimulate innovative community-based programs that employ prevention strategies to promote access to
health care for children and their families nationwide. HTPCP funding supports direct-service projects, not research projects. Healthy Tomorrows is
designed to support family-centered initiatives that implement innovative approaches for focusing resources to promote community; define preventive

REVIEW PAPER GUIDELINES (3 pages,
Essay format) Introduction
Plot
What happens?
E.g., “Mother Courage follows the misadventures of Courage and her children over a ten year period during the 100 Years War...”
How does it happen?
E.g., “The play is built in a series of episodes, alternating personal struggles against a backdrop of the larger social/political struggles.”
What does it mean?
A one-two sentence that captures the essence of the action. In the case of Epic Theatre, this statement is primarily about the intended “lesson” of the play. E.g., “MC is about how capitalism inevitably leads to the corruption then destruction of society—from nations to families.”
Rhythm
Flow of the plots?
Diction--
Summarize the language the playwright uses. How do the characters speak?
E.g., prose, poetry, cliché, long speeches, short, etc.?
7 of 8
Music—
is more than song, but the SOUND of the play. Describe the aural environment created and executed in the production.
Spectacle
—describe the visual environment of light and scenery created for the production, and their execution and relevance (e.g., it could look great but mean nothing, or it could look terrible but somehow it works!)
Conclusion
A paragraph about your particular feelings about the play—did it engage you? Were you changed, even a little? Goethe asked three questions—What was it trying to do? How well was it done? Was it worth doing? Answer these questions.

Section C
Please write your essay in the blue book.
Write an informal narrative about "some" composing process of yours. Essentially, you will write a Reflective Self-Evaluation of yourself as a college writer. What exactly does that mean? It requires you to:
a. look back over a recently completed process
b. think reflectively about that process
c. critically evaluate what went well, what didn’t go well, or what you might have done differently
As the aforementioned examples suggest, reflective writing is writing that describes, explains, interprets, and evaluates any past performance, action, belief, feeling, or experience. To reflect is to turn or look back, to reconsider something in the past from the perspective of the present. So, in your final essay, you will reflect and make an evaluation of your experience in this course.
Remember, reflection involves multiple angles of vision. Just as light waves are thrown or bent back from the surface of a mirror, so, too, reflective writing throws our experience, action, or performance back to us, allowing us to see differently. We view the past from the angle of the present, what was from the angle of what could have been or what might be. Multiplying your angle of vision through reflection often yields new insights and more complicated (complex) understanding of the issue on which you are reflecting.
Professors generally look for four kinds of knowledge in reflective self-evaluation essays: self-knowledge, content knowledge, rhetorical knowledge, and critical knowledge (aka judgment). Following are ideas for each of these types of knowledge, which may be used to generate ideas for your essay. Choose only a few of the questions to respond to, questions that allow you to explain and demonstrate your most important learning for the course.
You may write about your composing process for academic papers or creative genres or a combination of both. Reflect as thoroughly as possible upon your writing process and explain it. Your narrative should include whatever you DO when you write, as well as whatever you DO when you compose. Composing should be understood in the broad sense, i.e. composing goes on in your mind when you are cleaning your refrigerator, mowing your grass, etc. It also occurs when you are researching, taking notes, or procrastinating. In essence you are NEVER NOT composing something. So the key to your reflections is to include everything you do that makes a difference in your writing, from having to use a certain pen, to listening to music or sitting in the library. Both your formal and informal processes impact the way you produce a written work, if you use a formal method of note taking or outlining, if you compose on the computer or with pen and paper explore any and all of these activities that are helpful to you in your process. Explore all possible aspects that apply. This is a useful exercise for now and for you to revisit and revise in the future .

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.

June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202
