Citrix XenDesktop Reference Architecture for 750 usersX-IO Technologies
A reference architecture that delivers a low-cost, high performance storage solution that with no-risk consistency and simple management for the virtualization administrator.
The document discusses Citrix XenApp 7.6 features including Instant App Access, which eliminates long login times by keeping sessions active in the background, and Application Prelaunch and Lingering, which provide a more desktop-like user experience. It also covers Connection Leasing, which allows resources to still be enumerated if the database goes offline by accessing a local XML file, and storage optimization techniques used in XenApp 7.6 to reduce IOPS.
XenDesktop 7 provides a unified architecture for delivering virtual applications and desktops from centralized resources or directly on users' devices. It simplifies installation, deployment, and management through an integrated site configuration wizard and Citrix Studio management console. FlexCast delivery technologies allow different types of virtual desktops and applications to be hosted centrally or deployed locally on physical PCs or XenClient. HDX technologies optimize the user experience on any device through features like mobile optimization, 3D graphics, and local application access.
Citrix allows remote users to access applications installed on a remote server. It uses a protocol called ICA to encrypt and transmit the application's screen and user inputs between the client and server. Key components include XenApp servers, the ICA protocol for communication, and a centralized management console. XenApp 6 introduced features like simplified management, support for 100,000+ users, integration with Microsoft products, and support for accessing apps from Macs and smartphones.

Top Troubleshooting Tips and Techniques for Citrix XenServer DeploymentsDavid McGeough
This session will provide an expert insight into the most common issues encountered by Customers, Partners and Support engineers.
It’s a feature packed agenda which gets to the point quickly and concentrates on the issues we encounter continuously with XenServer deployments.
Citrix XenApp 6.5 provides instant access to Windows applications from over 1 billion devices through a new Receiver client. It features streamed app acceleration for faster launch times, HDX MediaStream for improved Flash streaming over low bandwidth networks, and enhanced desktop personalization. Administration is simplified through tools like Desktop Director for unified user and application management across physical, virtual, and cloud environments.
vRealize Operations (vROps) Management Pack for Citrix XenDesktop Installatio...Blue Medora
The document provides installation and configuration instructions for the Blue Medora VMware vRealize Operations Management Pack for Citrix XenDesktop & XenApp. It outlines prerequisites, such as supported vRealize Operations and Citrix versions. It also describes how to upload the installation file, add a license key, create an adapter instance, discover resources, and validate data collection. The document contains two appendices that describe the management pack folders/files and revision notes.
This exercise demonstrates performing a direct migration from an earlier version of XenApp to XenApp 6.5 using the PowerShell interface. The key steps are:
1. Deleting the existing data in the XenApp 6.5 farm using a PowerShell script to reset the farm.
2. Setting the PowerShell execution policy to unrestricted to allow running of unsigned scripts.
3. Using PowerShell cmdlets to selectively migrate settings such as administrators, policies, and applications from the XenApp 5 source farm to the XenApp 6.5 destination farm.
This allows more control over the migration process compared to the graphical Migration Center tool. The PowerShell interface also enables migrating only specific configuration elements rather
This document provides a framework for application lifecycle management and deployment across an organization utilizing Citrix. It defines processes for inventorying applications, packaging them using MSI, testing, deploying, and managing ongoing updates. Key aspects include centralized application storage, using tools like AppDNA and Package Studio for packaging, and hosting applications virtually using XenApp and Provisioning Services. The goals are to reduce costs, improve reliability of deployments, provide a consistent user experience, and gain efficiencies through a standardized approach to application management.

Climate Impact of Software Testing at Nordic Testing DaysKari Kakkonen
My slides at Nordic Testing Days 6.6.2024
Climate impact / sustainability of software testing discussed on the talk. ICT and testing must carry their part of global responsibility to help with the climat warming. We can minimize the carbon footprint but we can also have a carbon handprint, a positive impact on the climate. Quality characteristics can be added with sustainability, and then measured continuously. Test environments can be used less, and in smaller scale and on demand. Test techniques can be used in optimizing or minimizing number of tests. Test automation can be used to speed up testing.
