XCRI (eXchanging Course-Related Information) is a project and specification for syndicating online course information using XML. It allows institutions to publish course data in a standard format that can then be aggregated and searched on portals and other sites. The goal is to avoid redundant data entry and redesign when course information needs to be shared in new contexts. The XCRI Course Advertising Profile (CAP) defines the elements needed to describe a course, such as title, description, and learning outcomes. Implementations include RSS/Atom style course feeds and an aggregator to search across multiple institutions' course data.
