![Lynch 1<br />The Fabulous Final Project!<br />The Written Report<br />Now that you’ve completed your Data Chart research and Outline, you will use that outline to create a well-written, perfectly-spelled, grammatically correct final paper on the topic you have researched. Type it using 2.0 spacing. Put your last name and page number in the top right corner of each page (see my example above).<br />Introduction<br />FIRST, you must write an INTRODUCTORY PARAGRAPH. You must start with a general sentence and become more specific until you reach the closing sentence of this Introductory Paragraph. Start your paper with a catchy opening about the topic that you then move forward from. Here are some examples:<br />Begin with a quotation. Just make sure you explain its relevance<br />Begin with a question<br />Begin with an acknowledgment of an opinion opposite to the one you plan to take<br />Begin with a very short narrative or anecdote that has a direct bearing on your paper<br />Begin with an interesting fact<br />Begin with a definition or explanation of a term relevant to your paper<br />Begin with an analogy. Do not underline it in your paper.<br /> Every year, thousands of people travel from all over the world to Paris, to see the many attractions that can be found there. The city of romance has an irresistible draw to visitors. It is famous for its elegant dining in both the old community and the new, more contemporary part of the city. However, there are a few places in Paris that no wise visitor leaves without seeing. Notre-Dame, the Eiffel Tower, and the Louvre are three of the tourist attractions that are exciting to the world.<br />Try it: What is a thesis statement you think might work for the topic you’ve chosen?<br />______________________________________________________________________________<br />Body<br />NEXT, each of your categories from the outline will become at least one paragraph in the body of the paper. So your paper will have at least as many paragraphs as categories, though some may need to be broken into more and smaller paragraphs. Believe it or not, that time was not too long ago. The first version of baseball to be created was called Rounders, which had quite a few differences from modern baseball. Many believe that Abner Doubleday was the first person to invent what is now known as baseball, with his friend Graves as a witness. Today, many historians believe that account to be untrue. Yet the history of baseball’s development from new game to National Pastime is colorful and interesting nonetheless.<br />After 1900, interest really began to sore in this game called baseball. It became the favorite warm-weather sport for kids everywhere. Crowds began to follow pennant races and the World Series. Star players became national heroes. How did this happen? Early christian architecture

Some churches utilized centralized plans with circular or octagonal spaces surrounded by ambulatories, such as the mausoleum of St. Constanza in Rome.
Romanesque Architecture in Italy
Romanesque architecture is an architectural style of medieval Europe characterized by semi-circular arches. There is no consensus for the beginning date of the Romanesque architecture, with proposals ranging from the 6th to the 10th century. Early christian architecture
The early Christian architecture began in Rome and Constantinople in the 3rd and 4th centuries AD. As Christianity spread and was adopted as the state religion by Emperor Constantine, new church buildings were constructed to serve the needs of worship. The most common church design was the basilica, adapted from Roman civic buildings with a central nave and side aisles. Examples include St. John Lateran in Rome and the first St. Peter's Basilica. Some churches utilized centralized plans with circular or octagonal spaces surrounded by ambulatories, such as the mausoleum of St. Constanza in Rome.
Romanesque Architecture in Italy
Romanesque architecture is an architectural style of medieval Europe characterized by semi-circular arches. There is no consensus for the beginning date of the Romanesque architecture, with proposals ranging from the 6th to the 10th century. It developed in the 12th century into the Gothic style, marked by pointed arches. Examples of Romanesque architecture can be found across the continent, making it the first pan-European architectural style since Imperial Roman Architecture. I have organized the requirements for the final version of your research report by the “rules of five,” to help you keep my expectations in mind:
· Your final report will have at least five maps, charts, or other graphics that illustrate and enhance your report (that is, not just for decoration). You will insert these graphics directly into the Word document.
· Your report will also include five additional references related to the general theme. These references may come from newspapers, reputable websites (e.g., not just somebody’s blog), or other reference materials other than encyclopedias and dictionaries (see “Useful research resources,” above). Again, every one of these sources will be fully and appropriately referenced, in the professor's modified Chicago style.
· You may use one or two articles that I assign for class, but you will have to research the rest for yourself. I will be glad to help you, if you start early but cannot find the materials you need.
· Combined, I want to use a total of 8 to 10 good references.
Also:
· Your final paper will contain at least 2000 words—which is very roughly seven double spaced pages worth of text—plus your name, student ID number, date, descriptive title, references, and illustrations. Please don’t be short, nor too long either: target somewhere between 1950 and 2050 words of text.
· All your research and every one of your illustrations must be fully and appropriately cited, using the modified Chicago style specified below.
· You must submit your report through the Canvas dropbox, as a Word document (either .doc or .docx).

The AP Chemistry summer assignment requires students to purchase the textbook Chemistry, The Central Science, 12th ed. by Brown, LeMay, Bursten, and Murphy by July 15th. Students must read the preface and chapters 1 & 2 and be prepared to discuss them on the first day of class. They must also complete the assigned problems from chapters 1 and 2, which are due on Wednesday, August 22, the first full day of classes. Any questions should be directed to the teacher, Mr. Campbell, by email.

AP Biology students are required to read the book "When a Gene Makes You Smell Like a Fish....and Other Tales about the Genes in Your Body" by Lisa Seachrist Chiu over the summer. Students should highlight and take notes while reading as there will be a graded class discussion on the book to start the school year. 1. Seniors are assigned a summer reading project for their English 12 pilot course involving reading the book "Into the Wild" by Jon Krakauer, watching the miniseries "Lonesome Dove", and writing a 2-3 page reflection paper connecting the two works.
2. For the reflection paper, students must choose one of two essay prompts about the frontier myth and how the works affirm or disprove it, or about the purpose and effects of escaping to the frontier.
3. The teachers provide guidance on acquiring the materials, taking detailed notes while watching the film, and writing a knowledgeable paper that directly quotes and references both the book and movie. Students are encouraged to find the assignment engaging

Students can choose from 14 different world history time periods for their final project including Japan, China, Africa, Vikings, Middle Ages, Renaissance, Reformation, Age of Exploration, Enlightenment, French Revolution, Napoleonic Era, Industrial Revolution, Rise of Nationalism, Age of Imperialism, World War I, World War II, and Cold War.
