Comfort Women During World War II
Comfort Women Being a comfort woman during World War II was dehumanizing, involuntary and
unforgivable. Wherever Japanese troops were stationed comfort women were causing many
controversies with other countries. Many of these women are still alive and have recently begun to
speak about their experiences. Comfort women were Asian women forced to serve as sexual slaves for
Japan s Imperial Army soldiers in brothels (Hirata 131), is the most common way to explain comfort
women. The recruitment of these women was often sneaky or forced. Women from Taiwan and Korea,
colonies of Japan at the time, were recruited for work misinterpreting the comfort services as visiting
wounded soldiers. Also in these colonies young women were ... Show more content on

Since sexual behavior is not usually spoken about in Japan s culture the practice of comfort women
was ignored for forty five years. In 1948 the Netherlands was the first place anyone became concerned
and tried to punish the soldiers. Some Japanese officers were convicted of forcing thirty five Dutch
women into comfort stations but there were not any trials where the native women were plaintiffs. In
1990 the Korean Council for Women Drafted for Military Sexual Slavery was created and went to trial
in Japan. Shortly after, individual women filed lawsuits and wanted an apology and compensation but
Japan refused, and still does today. Eventually in 1992 a discovery of documents in the archives of
Japan s National Defense Agency forced Japan s government to admit they were directly involved in
the use of comfort women as sex slaves. In 1995 the Japanese government had admitted moral
responsibility and set up the Asia Women s Fund. The Asia Women s Fund was supposed to supply
remaining comfort women with compensation and an informal signed apology from the prime
minister but it was rejected by the comfort women because of it being informal

A Separate Peace By John Knowles
The war was not only happening in the real world, but also in the Devon School of Prep. The book A
Separate Peace by John Knowles is mostly about a boy, Gene, who is receiving his education and
learning about how to become a soldier to fight in the second World War. He and his best pal, Finny,
are both being forced to mature and grow up before being drafted to fight, but before that even
happens Gene s jealousy gets the best of him which will threaten his friendship. Throughout the novel
John Knowles uses a great deal of literary elements to help add imagery, thrill, and amusement to the
story. Some of the elements include paradoxes, caricature, and theme.
The use of paradoxes in the story created an effect where the characters ... Show more content on

Another way Knowles uses paradoxes in his story is when Phineas tells Gene he s sorry for pulling
him away from school and that Gene is his best pal (John Knowles 41). This proves that even though
their friendship is slowly falling apart Finny still wants things to be okay between them, for example
he hesitates before reinsuring Gene at this teen age period in life the proper person is you best pal. He
hesitated and then added, which is what you are, and there was silence on his dune. (Knowles 41). No
this is not a statement paradox, but it is a paradox because throughout the entire novel Gene believes
Finny is his best pal, yet when Finny tells Gene, Gene becomes flabbergasted and cannot believe so
and after Finny s statement he thinks to himself I should have told him then that he was my best friend
also and rounded off what he had said. I started to; I nearly did. But something held me back. Perhaps
I was stopped by that level of feeling, deeper than thought, which contains the truth, (Knowles 41). He
doesn t believe so because of his jealousy of Finny. His jealousy will become a barrier between the
two boys that will bring them closer together and completely separate them.
Caricature has a great impact throughout the novel. It adds

The Party Exited the Courtyard
Minister Mike s party included Skylar, Ethan, Mr Pisher and a meager handful of the remaining
students each of whom tolerated the midday sun as they walked single file around the massive Palace
structure. The once magnificent lush grounds had turned into withering vegetation. Water was scarce.
The new Government could not afford this luxurious expensive. Those who lived in the region did not
know why the devoted groundskeepers had recently abandoned their post. Soon, it would become
evident as Minister Mike s party continued around Egyptian style Palace.
The Babylon summer Palace was shaped in a U design, so when Minister Mike saw the balcony above
the first wing; he noticed Giselle by herself clutching the railing. She looked nauseated. He wanted to
say something. However, Mike felt it best to leave her alone.
Mike did not see Daniel ducking behind the balcony French door.
The Minister s party rounded the Palace. There they strolled into the three sided courtyard. Marble
terraced steps leaded from an Olympic size swimming pool to the main residence level. The scale of
the Saddam s Babylon Palace would rival those in Europe; mounted above the Babylon ruins, it was
easy to imagine the grand parties hosted poolside.
Now a drained pool sat eroding with desert debris. The diving board was scattered from its mountings.
It gave an eerie appearance to the dismal Palace grounds.
Skylar ascended the steps into the pool, and turn back to the Minister. She mimicked a

What Is Terezin Construction Camp
Terezin construction camp Esmeralda Lopez p.2 10.27.15 Terezin existed long before it was a camp
with a prison during world war. Terezin was build from 1780 to 1790. Terezin is still standing today
also Terezin was named after Emperor Joseph second after his mother Empress Maria Theresa. During
war was one it held political prisoners including Bosnian Serb Gavrilo who killed Archduke Franz
Ferdinand and his wife on June 28, 1914. If you were a children under the age of 15 you probably died
in the gas chamber. Also, if you were sent to the camp you might of have been one of a few of a lot to
have been experimented on.
The other thing that Terezín is known for is its role during WWII. Under Nazi occupation, the large
camp became a ghetto for Jews transported from across the Reich Austria and Germany and the
protectorate Bohemia and Moravia. Later it also housed Jews from further afield including Belgium,
Holland and Russia. It was this ghetto that was dressed up to fool the international Red Cross as late as
1944 that Nazi Germany had its Jewish citizens interests at heart. International monitors were shown a
thriving Jewish community complete with shops and music performances and a limited system of self
government. The Jews in this fence were of course performing threats and violence and were just as

The Importance Of Phonological Awareness Development On...
The Importance of Phonological Awareness Development in Preschool Children
John Kimball
University of Mississippi
Introduction
Phonemes, which are the individual units of sound, such as /b/, /p/ or /m/, are considered to be the
building blocks of language development. The individual phonemes are the first sounds we utter as
infants. The babblings of infants comprise of all the phonemes contained in their language. As an
infant develops into a toddler, the phonemes come together to form the first words, and eventually
these words group together to form sentences. The developments from infancy to the time that these
children begin preschool or become preschool age are the beginnings of speech communication.
A child must learn the rules of phonology before they can begin to learn to read. Phonology is the
study of the unconscious rules governing speech sound production (Adams, Foorman, Lundberg, and
Beeler, 1998). This is one of the first topics that teachers begin instructing upon in preschool. Children
begin to learn the alphabet and start to associate the sounds with their corresponding letter. This
instruction from teacher begins the development of each individual child s phonological awareness.
Phonological awareness has been shown to be one of the most reliable predictors and associates of
reading ability (Mann, Foy, 2003).
Children quickly develop an awareness of phonemes and can learn to attend to and manipulate these
speech sounds in a

Drug Delivery Via The Nasal Route
Introduction
In the past years, drug delivery via the nasal route has established itself as a competitor and an
alternative route over other routes of administration. It provides a higher degree of patient compliance
and drugs can be painlessly self administered by the patient (Illum, 2003). Drugs administered through
nasal route are absorbed rapidly and can reach therapeutically effective plasma levels quickly due to
highly permeable membranes and rich vasculature of the nasal cavity (Majithiya et al., 2006). In
addition, the nasal route offers further advantages over the oral route, especially for those drugs that
have poor oral bioavailability due to high hepatic first pass metabolism, pH instability and enzyme
degradation in GIT (Ugwoke et al., 2001).
Nowadays, the intranasal route has gained more interest to target drugs to the brain and cerebro spinal
fluid by passing the blood brain barrier. Intranasal formulation of drugs for the treatment of Parkinson
s disease (Khan et al., 2010), Alzheimer s disease (Zhang et al., 2004) and psychosis (Kumar et al.,
2008) have been elaborated and their therapeutic efficiency over conventional oral dosage form has
been verified.
Rivastigmine tartrate (RV) is the drug of choice for the treatment of Alzheimer s disease that is
characterized by progressive memory dysfunction due to significant insufficient levels of
acetylcholine in the brain (Williams et al., 2003). RV is categorized in the class of reversible
cholinesterase

Should Mr. Bennet Refuse To Try To Try To Stop Romance...
Questions: 1. Lady Catherine comes for a visit at Longbourn to try to stop romance between Elizabeth
and Darcy. She claims that her daughter and Darcy are intended for each other. Lady Catherine also
threatens that she will confront Darcy if Elizabeth should accept a proposal of marriage from him.
Elizabeth is now worried that Darcy might not return to Netherfield. 2. Mr. Bennet sees so much
humor in Mr. Collins s letter because the idea of Elizabeth and Darcy being together seems ludicrous
to him. This distresses Elizabeth because she was hoping that the family would approve of Darcy. 3.
Mr. Darcy regrets having had so much pride and prejudices when he first proposed to Elizabeth. He
has now learned from Elizabeth and has changed his behavior. ... Show more content on

When Lady Catherine determinedly tells Darcy of her visit to Elizabeth and all that was said, this only
makes things better for Darcy and Elizabeth. Darcy realizes how much Elizabeth has changed as well
as how he has changed himself. Considering the intentions of Lady Catherine, her meddling only sped
up the process of Darcy and Elizabeth getting together. 6. Mr. Bennet offers up some advice to
Elizabeth after giving Darcy his consent. He says that is it is important for Elizabeth to marry a man
for who he is not for material things. He wishes the best for Darcy and Elizabeth. Given his own
situation in life, this advice is important to him because he wants the best for his children. The Bennet
family is not the richest but now Elizabeth has the chance to experience some of it. 7. Lydia s marriage
with an indifferent husband and lack of money is a form of poetic justice. Happiness within a marriage
not ought to come from passion but from the knowing of one another. Unlike Lydia, Elizabeth took
her time with finding the perfect husband for her. 8. Kitty s character improves because of the
influence of her other sisters. This most likely happens because we would not want another one of the
Bennet daughters to marry like

network into smaller subnets based on each sites needs. Class D E are not used. Class D is typically

The Yoga Sutras, The Science Of The Mind, Body And Spirit
Introduction Top
In the Yoga Sutras, Yoga is defined as union of mind, body and spirit. Classically, Yoga is understood
as the science of the mind. [1] These days it is assuming importance in improving mental health and
quality of life in the treatment of a number of disorders. [2]
Several diseases affect a person s biopsychosocial functioning to a greater or lesser degree. [3] These
diseases are known as psychosomatic diseases. Psychosomatic means mind (psyche) and body (soma).
A psychosomatic disorder is a disease which involves both mind and body. There is a mental aspect to
every physical disease. How one reacts to and copes with disease varies greatly from person to person.
For example, a rash of psoriasis may not bother some people while it may make some feel depressed
and more ill. There can be physical effects from mental illness. For example, with some mental
illnesses one may not eat, or take care of oneself, and this can cause physical problems. [4]
WHO defines quality of life as individuals perceptions of their position in life in the context of the
culture and value systems in which they live and in relation to their goals, expectations, standards and
concerns. Hence, definition focuses on respondents perceived quality of life. [3]
Quality of life means a good physical and mental condition, consisting of two elements: The ability to
cope with everyday tasks (the biopsychosocial level) and the patient s satisfaction from his activities at

How successful were Hobbes and Locke in their attempts to justify the existence of Human Rights?
In this essay, the main distinctions of Hobbes and Lock s work will be discussed and how their work
contributed to the existence of human rights. Other predominant thinkers, such as Bentham and Marx
will be brought in to critically evaluate Hobbes and Lock s attempts on human rights. Finally a
conclusion will be drawn upon these points to state whether Hobbes or Locke was Successful to

According to Hobbes, to deny this right would be meaningless. Hobbes sharply distinguished this
natural liberty , from natural laws , described generally as a precept, or general rule, found out by
reason, by which a man is forbidden to do, that, which is destructive of his life, or taken away the
means of preserving his life; and to omit, that, by which he thought it may best be preserved. In his
natural state, according to Hobbes, man s life consisted entirely of liberties and not at all of laws It
followed that in such a condition, every man has the right to everything, and therefore, as long as this
natural right of every man to everything endured, there can be no security to any man... of living out
the time, which Nature ordinarily allow men to live. This would lead inevitably to a situation known
as the war of all against all , in which human beings kill, steal and enslave others in order to stay alive,
and due to their natural lust for Gain , Safety and Reputation . Hobbes reasoned that this world of
chaos created by unlimited rights was highly undesirable, since it would cause human life to be
solitary, poor, nasty,

Jesus s Return And The Time Of Revelation
We are of course waiting for Jesus s return, or the time of revelation. The study of Jesus s coming, and
the other last things, heaven, hell, judgement, etc., is called eschatology. Eschatology starts with some
tensions, just as many theological topics and studies do. These tensions do not come from different
doctrinal parties differing in opinion though, they come from the very nature of revelation it self. It all
stems from the phrases already and not yet. Already covers what has already happened in the present
tense regarding the life of Jesus, and continues to the very moment we are alive. This contrasts with
the not yet phrase because not yet looks much further into the future. It looks at the reality of the
coming kingdom of God, and its power. We are able to find our beliefs in the middle of these two
realities. It is here where we continue the works of Jesus while waiting for the coming of the kingdom.
Now is where we spread the word of God for the future revelation. So by working now for what will
come in the future defines our doctrines and who we are as Christians in our day to day lives. After
speaking of Jesus it is logical to discuss the Holy Spirit after, given that the Holy Spirit is sent by
Jesus the Son of God. The Holy Spirit is as I just said, sent by the Son, and proceeds from the Father
God. Given these two facts the Holy Spirit is not to be lessened to a mere attribute of the Father and
Son. Along with being likened to being a part of

Siopis In Face The Drink
Penny Siopis and Egon Schiele influenced the use of colour in my piece Face the Drink . Siopis
influenced it by her lithograph Model Prisoners , which showed me how expressive colour really is.
Egon Shciele influenced my work, by the way he uses distorted figures and faces to express emotion,
as well as his use of arbitrary colour. Both Schiele and Siopis has taught me many different techniques
that I am excited to use in the future. Penny Siopis influenced my drawing style by the use of her
emotive colours (predominately red) and her semi distorted faces, from her Pinky Pinky series. In her
lithograph Model Prisoners a lot of emotion is shown through her use of red, to symbolising intense
passion, aggression, and courage. My goal for my piece Face the Drink would be, like Siopis, to show
emotion through the colour and distortion of tone. My concept behind Face the Drink is to express
alcohol abuse and how it makes one feel, by simply using colour to make viewers feel the dizzy effect
alcohol gives people. My main aim is to fill the wall with my distorted, colourful faces to make people
feel over whelmed and uncomfortable. Siopis taught me that a message can still be strong without the
use of many colours, but in my case I felt like my piece needed many colours to portray the message.
My piece has rough washes of many ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

product will turn out. To me it s about the emotion that one puts in while doing the work and then
being surprised at the end. Working quickly and roughly is the way I express my feelings and I feel

How Did Otto Hahn Greatest Impact

On March 8, 1879, a boy was born into a glazier family and was named Otto Hahn. Since he was a kid

Hahn s founding of nuclear fission had created a big change to the world both during and after the
time he lives. The tremendous implications of this discovery have led to study on possible military
developments. Fission products are produced in nuclear weapon explosions, with the amount
depending on the type of weapon. The largest source of fission products is from nuclear reactor. Some
fission products are also used in industrial inventions and innovations. For example, some ion can
react with steel surfaces to form a corrosion resistant layer. In this way, it renders the steel surface
passive. In a similar way the release of radio iodine in a serious power reactor accident could be
retarded by adsorption on metal surfaces within the nuclear plant. Furthermore, nuclear fission also
takes part in medicine areas. Currently, nuclear fission is not used directly in medicine, however
radiation, radioactive isotopes, and scanning devices (X Rays, CAT scans e.t.c.) that use radiation are.
All of these inventions and innovation would not exist without his discovery. Therefore, I feel very
thankful for his discovery and the things he have brought up to this

The Problem Of Conflict Mineral
While the term conflict mineral can be used to refer to any mineral resource being exploited by a
belligerent faction in order to perpetuate hostilities, it is most commonly associated with columbite
tantalite, cassiterite, wolframite, and gold ore, collectively known as 3TG minerals.i These ores, used
to produce tantalum, tin, tungsten and gold, respectively, comprise a multi billion dollar market fueled
by the growing demand for electronics and other products related to the technology industry. The 3TG
group is essentially vital in every modern electronic device: phones, computers, pacemakers, light
bulbs, batteries, generators, planes, cars, everything.ii The issue with this industry is that these
minerals are often harvested by a variety of military factions concentrated in Central Africa, then
shipped across the porous border undeclared to Tanzania, Uganda, Burundi, Zambia, Zimbabwe, or
Rwanda, smuggled to Africa s eastern coast, and finally shipped to smelting factories in Southeast
Asia and the Indian sub continent.iii Once the minerals reach the smelting plant they are melted down
with other shipments from around the world and any hope of identifying whether or not they were
used to fund the growing number of human rights violations occurring in the Democratic Republic of
the Congo and throughout Central Africa dissolves. As though this supply chain was not already
complex and spanning over a myriad of legal jurisdictions each with their own issues, it is estimated

Funerary Practices Used In Ancient India
Archaeologists have found many different funerary practices used in Ancient India. They have found
numerous graves and found a wide variety of funerary practices such as some bodies wrapped in

with pottery and urns that contain ashes. Families would wail at the death of a relative to show their
grief.
Cremation is the process of burning the body it was first introduced to the western world by the

Belleville.
Although he receives scholarship help, first for basketball and later for baseball, the remaining part of

Throughout his four years at the university, he lives at home and commutes in a car pool with other

Government Bailout for Corporate Failures Essay
Gup (2003) brings out that financial trouble is a periodical concern that occurs to banks, industrial
companies and other organizations. Gup begins his article by reviewing the history and importance of
government bailouts for corporate failures. In his article on What Does Too Big to Fail Mean? he uses
rhetoric questions in order to engage the readers in his analysis of government bailouts. For instance,
he poses the question, what should governments and government regulators do about it? (Gup, 2003,
p. 29). It in this case referred to the periodical financial troubles of the above mentioned institutions.
By using the question, Gup engages the reader in trying to think about what the government can do in

This organization was meant to deal with the widespread business failures, unemployment and
municipalities in financial distress. The RFC was however terminated in 1957 (Gup, 2003).
Gup presents a second option which governments can adopt in response to business failures by
exploring extents to whicht governments can move to protect companies from their competitors. He
gives the example of how in 2002 George W. Bush imposed tariffs on imported steel so as to protect
selected ailing steel companies from foreign competition. Gup highlights the opinions of others who
claimed that the move by the former US President was not an action taken in national interest but was
aimed at gaining West Virginia and Pennsylvania votes (Gup, 2003). Here Gup uses a skeptical
statement and attempts to make the reader aware that government action can be intended for political
gain instead of the goodwill of the nation.
Gup also uses approaches aimed at narrowing down the scope of his article. He presents aspects of the
wider topic about government bailouts and states that his article would not be reviewing those aspects.
Gup in his beginning chapters warns the reader that there are also cases where there is the intervention
of international bodies such as the International Monetary Fund, such as when the US Treasury and
IMF aided Brazil, Mexico, Korea, Brazil, Argentina and other

The Special Education System Essays
Through my advocacy work, I have found that teachers are not providing students with disabilities
individualized attention as outlined in a student s Individual Education plan. Teachers continue to
follow instructions from administrators to place the burden of education on the student causing
students anxiety and frustrating despite knowing such treatment is wrong and inhumane. The
treatment often results in elevated high school dropout rates of students with disabilities.
It is hard to understand why a teacher may treat a student, who is obviously willing to learn, in such a
manner. The Asch Conformity Experiment is a good example; making it easier to understand the
behavior or a group of educators. In the experiment, a participant ... Show more content on

Although the teacher provided the information, the family was asked not to bring up how he or she
came to the knowledge to any staff members or in a meeting with other staff persons present. The
teacher was fearful for the possible repercussions of going against what the group had decided were an
appropriate intervention for the student. The teacher informed the family that the entire team was well
versed on the student s lack of skills. Nevertheless, that the protocol in the building, handed down by
the administration was to first, blame the student, second, blame the parents, and finally recommend
the child be placed on medication before he or she could return to school. The education team was
instructed that if they chose not to conform their duties at the school would be promptly terminated.
The teachers conformed for fear of losing their jobs.
Although teachers are charged with the duty of educating young people, they are still human beings.
Maslow s Hierarchy of Needs (Cherry K., 2012) describes what could be a driving force behind
behavior that from an outside perspective would be seen as inappropriate at best. Most teachers are

In the city of Sierra Vista, AZ a beautiful new hospital stands on the eastern outskirts. A new building
is like a new beginning, a fresh start for all. However, with newness comes concerns that change to
problems or opportunities. Furthermore, past tendencies and or problems with existing employees,
turnover, and lack of quality leadership do not go away with a new building. The need for change in
the Canyon Vista Medical Center (CVMC) rehabilitation department is apparent, but unless the

The amount of conflict between these two groups at CVMC requires intervention.
The Human Process Intervention, focuses on people within organizations and the processes through
which they accomplish organizational goals. These processes include communication, problem
solving, group decision making and leadership (Cummings Worley, 2015, p. 157). More specifically
the intervention that would be utilized to help with the conflict between the PT s and PTA s would be
to do individual interventions and team building. An individual intervention such as the Johari window
is a great tool that allows individuals to gain feedback about their behaviors (Cummings Worley,
2015). The understanding and awareness of their behaviors and how they act among their fellow co
workers could awaken them to change.
Along with individual interventions, team building would be utilized to help with the conflicts
between these two groups. As evident in the past, conflict among these two groups roams, the
prevention and quieting of conflict has been unsuccessful. In the words of Coggburn, Battaglio and
Bradbury (2014) conflict is a fact of organizational life it is inevitable and potentially desirable (p.

Why Student Loan Is The Cost Of Refinancing
Looking to refinance your student loans? Millions of college graduates around the country stayed with
student loans that had annual percentage rates that were too high. When they signed up for these loans,
they weren t worried about paying them off because graduation seemed so far away. Now the time has
finally come to start repayment. Fortunately there are few good ways to ease the sting of paying back
your student loans. What we are looking for when refinancing student loan is a lower APR, or annual
percentage rate. The APR is a percentage of the total amount of money you borrowed that diminishes
as payments are made towards the loan. Another very important thing you must consider when
refinancing your loans is the cost of refinancing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With good choices, student loan refinance can save you a lot of money.
From the time students found that getting loans to complete their education was easy, more and more
students opted to continue their education. Previously there were many people who could not
complete their education because of the lack of fund. But this is not the case these days. However,
once these students get the degree, they leave college with piles of student loans also. There are many
federal and non federal student loans consolidation programs that help them ease and simplify their
repayment plan. Some think that simply by considering the lowest rate of interest they are done and
they will be able to save lot of money. This is not true. Before selecting the student loan consolidation
company, it is good to consider some essential factors. You have to see that all the terms are beneficial
for you and that too in the long run. Avoid looking for short term benefits unless you are in deep and
severe financial crisis. See that there are no charges and penalties for repaying your installments in
advance. Even if you do not have the job right now, consider these points. This is important because in
near future you are going to get the job and then you will prefer paying off all your loans as fast as
possible. When considering non

When writing the Needs/Problem Statement they must be careful they are not preaching to the choir.
Most funders are already somewhat aware of the problems in the community. Instead of telling the
funder what they already know (where they are coming from) they may try to inform them what
approach they are going to take to help provide the community an end to the problem.
The Literature Review is vital to the process as it provides objective support data and rationales for the
arguments in the proposal and the development of the interventions. It is a well developed review of
relevant information from creditable sources to lean support to the approaches presented in the
proposal.
The writer needs to briefly identify why their Target Population(s) should be funded when another
group or population whom may be equally at need should not be funded. What makes their target
population stick out and be better suited for the funding?
Approaches and Methods are often referred to as goals and objectives, and activities and timelines by
some funding agencies. This part of the proposal contains a lot of information so the writer should
start off with a summary. It is important to reach the target population as if they do not the proposal
would be worthless.
The Vision, Mission, Goals, Objectives, Activities, and tasks are the terms program planners use.
These terms can also confuse

Everyday Use by Alice Walker an Analysis

Everyday Use Analysis
Everyday Use is a compelling story of a mother s conflicting relationships with her two daughters.
Maggie, which the mother feels contains more practical and traditional ways of living life and then
Dee her oldest and most promising daughter, who she feels has broken away from tradition and has
lost a lot of their heritage. At first glance you would see this as the normal mother daughter spat of
maybe the wild child versus the little miss do right. This story holds a much deeper and important
meaning. Everyday use tells the struggle to keep hold of African American culture in the late 1960 s

Dee even had to ask Didn t Uncle Buddy whittle it out of a tree you all used to have ? She did not
know herself, and when her boyfriend (or husband) asked who also made the dasher. She couldn t
reply, instead Maggie did stating Aunt Dee s first husband whittled the dash , and that His name was
Henry, but they called him Stash. This is an inherent meaning that with the transformation to the Black
Panther movement our heritage was being forgotten.
The quilts in this story represent African American heritage, they symbolize the pain, tears and
struggle African Americans had to go through in the United States. The sister s conflict over who
should have the quilts shows the struggle between the Black Power movement and the African
American, and who should define its heritage. Dee when asked what she would do with the quilts, she
stated Hang them . Dee also vagrantly argued that her sister Maggie would use put the quilts to
everyday use . See Dee s argument represents the Black Power movement by using the quilts to hang
as a status symbol, to remind her of the social and economic status she has currently obtained. Maggie
s use symbolizes the African American culture to purely remember the heritage not to rank with
statuses or to compare. Alice Walker distinctively allows us to know which argument she feels is

Political Advocacy in Anarchist Punk Music Essay
Political Advocacy in Anarchist Punk Music
Anarchist political advocacy has been a driving force in punk music since its emergence in the 1970s.
Although the basic philosophy has remained unchanged, punks have significantly altered the ways
they espouse their beliefs, over time becoming more militant and directly confrontational with those
that hold power. This paper attempts use quantitative and qualitative analysis to determine how
significantly anarcho punk political advocacy has changed between the early 1980s and present day.
Additionally, this paper argues that increased militancy is a byproduct of the progressive

The Most Important Characteristics Of Odysseus A Real Hero
What makes a hero a real hero? We know what a hero is we know Batman, Superman, Iron man,
Captain America, Wonder Woman, and even Wolverine. We also know our everyday heroes
firefighters, police officers, medical personnel, and even political leaders. We also know all of our
favorite book characters. Sometimes we even think of ancient heroes, great warriors of old, but have
our expectations changed since then? After all we know some of these heroes just for slaughtering
their enemies. Do we define these people as heroes just because we ve always known them this way.
When I think of the most important characteristics that a hero can possibly have, three traits come to
mind, these are charisma, courage, and selflessness. Who better to put to the test with this list than the
ancient greek hero Odysseus.
Obviously a hero must be first and foremost smart enough to get through troubling puzzles,
challenges, and obstacles. It is important to note that charisma can be the main quality of a great
villain, as well as a great hero. Odysseus definitely has a lot of charisma, it is probably one of his
defining qualities. The odyssey is teeming with examples of how smart Odysseus is just for example
Odysseus is able to bargain with the witch Circe, go to the underworld and back, trick the cyclops into
letting them out, and secretly set up a revolution inside his own home. One example of just how
charismatic he is though takes a little bit of closer examination to discover, on line 16,

The Frontiers of American History in Last Child of the...
In the second chapter of Last Child of the Woods, Richard Louv makes the claim that there have been
three frontiers in the course of American history. The first phase was the original frontier, before the
Industrial Revolution. This was the time of the prairie schooner, the cowboy, the herds of bison that
were thousands strong. This was a rough, hard time, when man and nature were constantly thrown
together. There was wilderness to spare, and people were willing to move West to get to it. The second
phase came into being after the Industrial Revolution. Land that was available to homesteaders had
run out. Yet the American people still considered themselves frontier explorers. Times had been trying

Not only are they taught that building things outside are bad, but because of the disappearance of
natural spaces within cities, nature is not as accessible to kids. This leads to what Louv calls, Nature
Deficit Disorder, the lack of relationship between children and nature.
Richard Louv uses Logos in several different ways throughout this selection. He collects research
from many different studies, interviews parents, and finds sources from history. In his second chapter
especially, he uses numerous examples of scientific experiments to back his point that people really do
not have an adequate realization of the difference between humans and animals. In his third chapter,
he conducted an interview with a parent who had moved to a certain neighborhood because of the
abundance of outdoor areas. Louv uses this interview to illustrate his point that even if nature is
available, it really is not supposed to be used for unstructured recreation. In his second chapter, he
draws on U.S. Census Bureau reports to illustrate the decline of the family farm. He uses historical
events and ideas to show his idea of the romanticizing of the American frontier. Through these
concrete examples, he is able to persuade the reader that his ideas and theories are valid. I think that
Louv is right in his opinion that kids are losing touch with nature. This epidemic is not just in big
cities, but wherever technology has a hold. Technology has become

AGILE METHODOLOGY
Agile methodology is an alternative approach to traditional management, especially in software
development. This method assists in responding to the unpredictability of developing software. It uses
incremental, iterative work sequences that are generally known as sprints. This methodology is used to
minimize risk by developing software in short time boxes. Figure (5) illustrating Agile methodology
below.
Figure (5): Agile methodology explained
Advantages of Agile methodology:
1. Agile methodology has an adaptive approach which is able to respond to the changing requirements
of the clients.
2. Direct interaction and regular feedback from customer representative eliminate any speculation in
the system.
Disadvantages of Agile Methodology:
1. This methodology focuses on working software rather than documentation; hence it may result in
lack of documentation.
2. The software development project can get diverted if the customer is unclear about the final
outcome of his project.
This methodology is suitable if the environment is experiencing change that may have emerging
requirements. It is also useful in high priority or revenue producing projects.

the merger itself.

Activision Pre merger: Activision was a leading developer and publisher of video game software for
consoles. Its top titles include Guitar Hero, Tony Hawk, and Call of Duty, all of which have multiple
games in their series. The company itself was moderately vertically integrated, with ownership of
some development, publishing, and distribution activities. Its strengths lie in its growth strategies;
partnerships allowed the firm to exclusive rights to certain brands. Other strengths include leading
game titles for multiple platforms, hit sequels that are less capital intensive to develop, a stringent
green light process for quality control, ability for online game play, and divisions in over a dozen
countries. Weaknesses include lack of existence in foreign markets, lack of PC software development
techniques, and the fact that licensed content is vulnerable to competition. The opportunities available
are sequels to already established titles, growth in industry, and future partnerships based on their
good reputation with previous alliances. Threats include competition from other software developers
like THQ and Take Two, the cyclical nature of releases, and the reliance on game consoles for use of
software.
Blizzard Pre Merger: Strengths for the Company include top performing titles manufactured for use
on computers, reoccurring revenues based on subscriptions, and a presence in the hard to penetrate
Asian market.

They will be making my shirts so I don t have to do the labor. It costs $7 to make each shirt. I only
have to package up the shirts and send it out to whoever buys it. There will be no training involved
since it isn t really required.
I have not actually estimated the sales, but the first year I will hope to make $8000, the second year
$12,000, and the third year $15,000. My business will be different from the rest because I will strive
to keep making better shirts for my customers and be sure to have fast delivery. I will also always be
open to listen to my customer s suggestions and to try to improve my company.
Sales and Marketing
My strategy for my shirts will be so mind boggling that it will blow your mind. I will find customers
through Instagram and advertise through Instagram linked to my website. I will post solid HD photos
of my t shirts. I focus to only sell in the U.S. and Canada because shipping is too expensive elsewhere
unless they pay for extra shipping. I will not use Amazon ... just my website to sell the product.
I will be selling this product straight to customers and not through retail sellers. I will ship the product
using either USPS or UPS ground service. It will take 2 5 days to be delivered to the customer. I won t
be using sales representatives, distributors, or brokers. I won t have to worry about freshness since it s
a t shirt product.
I will do most, if not all my advertising

  • 2. Comfort Women During World War II Comfort Women Being a comfort woman during World War II was dehumanizing, involuntary and unforgivable. Wherever Japanese troops were stationed comfort women were causing many controversies with other countries. Many of these women are still alive and have recently begun to speak about their experiences. Comfort women were Asian women forced to serve as sexual slaves for Japan s Imperial Army soldiers in brothels (Hirata 131), is the most common way to explain comfort women. The recruitment of these women was often sneaky or forced. Women from Taiwan and Korea, colonies of Japan at the time, were recruited for work misinterpreting the comfort services as visiting wounded soldiers. Also in these colonies young women were ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Since sexual behavior is not usually spoken about in Japan s culture the practice of comfort women was ignored for forty five years. In 1948 the Netherlands was the first place anyone became concerned and tried to punish the soldiers. Some Japanese officers were convicted of forcing thirty five Dutch women into comfort stations but there were not any trials where the native women were plaintiffs. In 1990 the Korean Council for Women Drafted for Military Sexual Slavery was created and went to trial in Japan. Shortly after, individual women filed lawsuits and wanted an apology and compensation but Japan refused, and still does today. Eventually in 1992 a discovery of documents in the archives of Japan s National Defense Agency forced Japan s government to admit they were directly involved in the use of comfort women as sex slaves. In 1995 the Japanese government had admitted moral responsibility and set up the Asia Women s Fund. The Asia Women s Fund was supposed to supply remaining comfort women with compensation and an informal signed apology from the prime minister but it was rejected by the comfort women because of it being informal ... • 3. A Separate Peace By John Knowles The war was not only happening in the real world, but also in the Devon School of Prep. The book A Separate Peace by John Knowles is mostly about a boy, Gene, who is receiving his education and learning about how to become a soldier to fight in the second World War. He and his best pal, Finny, are both being forced to mature and grow up before being drafted to fight, but before that even happens Gene s jealousy gets the best of him which will threaten his friendship. Throughout the novel John Knowles uses a great deal of literary elements to help add imagery, thrill, and amusement to the story. Some of the elements include paradoxes, caricature, and theme. The use of paradoxes in the story created an effect where the characters ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another way Knowles uses paradoxes in his story is when Phineas tells Gene he s sorry for pulling him away from school and that Gene is his best pal (John Knowles 41). This proves that even though their friendship is slowly falling apart Finny still wants things to be okay between them, for example he hesitates before reinsuring Gene at this teen age period in life the proper person is you best pal. He hesitated and then added, which is what you are, and there was silence on his dune. (Knowles 41). No this is not a statement paradox, but it is a paradox because throughout the entire novel Gene believes Finny is his best pal, yet when Finny tells Gene, Gene becomes flabbergasted and cannot believe so and after Finny s statement he thinks to himself I should have told him then that he was my best friend also and rounded off what he had said. I started to; I nearly did. But something held me back. Perhaps I was stopped by that level of feeling, deeper than thought, which contains the truth, (Knowles 41). He doesn t believe so because of his jealousy of Finny. His jealousy will become a barrier between the two boys that will bring them closer together and completely separate them. Caricature has a great impact throughout the novel. It adds ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Party Exited the Courtyard Minister Mike s party included Skylar, Ethan, Mr Pisher and a meager handful of the remaining students each of whom tolerated the midday sun as they walked single file around the massive Palace structure. The once magnificent lush grounds had turned into withering vegetation. Water was scarce. The new Government could not afford this luxurious expensive. Those who lived in the region did not know why the devoted groundskeepers had recently abandoned their post. Soon, it would become evident as Minister Mike s party continued around Egyptian style Palace. The Babylon summer Palace was shaped in a U design, so when Minister Mike saw the balcony above the first wing; he noticed Giselle by herself clutching the railing. She looked nauseated. He wanted to say something. However, Mike felt it best to leave her alone. Mike did not see Daniel ducking behind the balcony French door. The Minister s party rounded the Palace. There they strolled into the three sided courtyard. Marble terraced steps leaded from an Olympic size swimming pool to the main residence level. The scale of the Saddam s Babylon Palace would rival those in Europe; mounted above the Babylon ruins, it was easy to imagine the grand parties hosted poolside. Now a drained pool sat eroding with desert debris. The diving board was scattered from its mountings. It gave an eerie appearance to the dismal Palace grounds. Skylar ascended the steps into the pool, and turn back to the Minister. She mimicked a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Terezin was build from 1780 to 1790. Terezin is still standing today also Terezin was named after Emperor Joseph second after his mother Empress Maria Theresa. During war was one it held political prisoners including Bosnian Serb Gavrilo who killed Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his wife on June 28, 1914. If you were a children under the age of 15 you probably died in the gas chamber. Also, if you were sent to the camp you might of have been one of a few of a lot to have been experimented on. The other thing that Terezín is known for is its role during WWII. Under Nazi occupation, the large camp became a ghetto for Jews transported from across the Reich Austria and Germany and the protectorate Bohemia and Moravia. • 6. The Importance Of Phonological Awareness Development On... The Importance of Phonological Awareness Development in Preschool Children John Kimball University of Mississippi Introduction Phonemes, which are the individual units of sound, such as /b/, /p/ or /m/, are considered to be the building blocks of language development. The individual phonemes are the first sounds we utter as infants. The babblings of infants comprise of all the phonemes contained in their language. As an infant develops into a toddler, the phonemes come together to form the first words, and eventually these words group together to form sentences. The developments from infancy to the time that these children begin preschool or become preschool age are the beginnings of speech communication. A child must learn the rules of phonology before they can begin to learn to read. Phonology is the study of the unconscious rules governing speech sound production (Adams, Foorman, Lundberg, and Beeler, 1998). This is one of the first topics that teachers begin instructing upon in preschool. Children begin to learn the alphabet and start to associate the sounds with their corresponding letter. This instruction from teacher begins the development of each individual child s phonological awareness. Phonological awareness has been shown to be one of the most reliable predictors and associates of reading ability (Mann, Foy, 2003). Children quickly develop an awareness of phonemes and can learn to attend to and manipulate these speech sounds in a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Drug Delivery Via The Nasal Route Introduction In the past years, drug delivery via the nasal route has established itself as a competitor and an alternative route over other routes of administration. It provides a higher degree of patient compliance and drugs can be painlessly self administered by the patient (Illum, 2003). Drugs administered through nasal route are absorbed rapidly and can reach therapeutically effective plasma levels quickly due to highly permeable membranes and rich vasculature of the nasal cavity (Majithiya et al., 2006). In addition, the nasal route offers further advantages over the oral route, especially for those drugs that have poor oral bioavailability due to high hepatic first pass metabolism, pH instability and enzyme degradation in GIT (Ugwoke et al., 2001). Nowadays, the intranasal route has gained more interest to target drugs to the brain and cerebro spinal fluid by passing the blood brain barrier. Intranasal formulation of drugs for the treatment of Parkinson s disease (Khan et al., 2010), Alzheimer s disease (Zhang et al., 2004) and psychosis (Kumar et al., 2008) have been elaborated and their therapeutic efficiency over conventional oral dosage form has been verified. Classically, Yoga is understood as the science of the mind. [1] These days it is assuming importance in improving mental health and quality of life in the treatment of a number of disorders. [2] Several diseases affect a person s biopsychosocial functioning to a greater or lesser degree. [3] These diseases are known as psychosomatic diseases. Psychosomatic means mind (psyche) and body (soma). A psychosomatic disorder is a disease which involves both mind and body. There is a mental aspect to every physical disease. How one reacts to and copes with disease varies greatly from person to person. For example, a rash of psoriasis may not bother some people while it may make some feel depressed and more ill. There can be physical effects from mental illness. For example, with some mental illnesses one may not eat, or take care of oneself, and this can cause physical problems. • 12. Jesus s Return And The Time Of Revelation We are of course waiting for Jesus s return, or the time of revelation. The study of Jesus s coming, and the other last things, heaven, hell, judgement, etc., is called eschatology. Eschatology starts with some tensions, just as many theological topics and studies do. These tensions do not come from different doctrinal parties differing in opinion though, they come from the very nature of revelation it self. It all stems from the phrases already and not yet. Already covers what has already happened in the present tense regarding the life of Jesus, and continues to the very moment we are alive. This contrasts with the not yet phrase because not yet looks much further into the future. It looks at the reality of the coming kingdom of God, and its power. We are able to find our beliefs in the middle of these two realities. It is here where we continue the works of Jesus while waiting for the coming of the kingdom. Now is where we spread the word of God for the future revelation. So by working now for what will come in the future defines our doctrines and who we are as Christians in our day to day lives. After speaking of Jesus it is logical to discuss the Holy Spirit after, given that the Holy Spirit is sent by Jesus the Son of God. The Holy Spirit is as I just said, sent by the Son, and proceeds from the Father God. Given these two facts the Holy Spirit is not to be lessened to a mere attribute of the Father and Son. Egon Shciele influenced my work, by the way he uses distorted figures and faces to express emotion, as well as his use of arbitrary colour. Both Schiele and Siopis has taught me many different techniques that I am excited to use in the future. Penny Siopis influenced my drawing style by the use of her emotive colours (predominately red) and her semi distorted faces, from her Pinky Pinky series. In her lithograph Model Prisoners a lot of emotion is shown through her use of red, to symbolising intense passion, aggression, and courage. My goal for my piece Face the Drink would be, like Siopis, to show emotion through the colour and distortion of tone. My concept behind Face the Drink is to express alcohol abuse and how it makes one feel, by simply using colour to make viewers feel the dizzy effect alcohol gives people. My main aim is to fill the wall with my distorted, colourful faces to make people feel over whelmed and uncomfortable. The Problem Of Conflict Mineral While the term conflict mineral can be used to refer to any mineral resource being exploited by a belligerent faction in order to perpetuate hostilities, it is most commonly associated with columbite tantalite, cassiterite, wolframite, and gold ore, collectively known as 3TG minerals.i These ores, used to produce tantalum, tin, tungsten and gold, respectively, comprise a multi billion dollar market fueled by the growing demand for electronics and other products related to the technology industry. The 3TG group is essentially vital in every modern electronic device: phones, computers, pacemakers, light bulbs, batteries, generators, planes, cars, everything.ii The issue with this industry is that these minerals are often harvested by a variety of military factions concentrated in Central Africa, then shipped across the porous border undeclared to Tanzania, Uganda, Burundi, Zambia, Zimbabwe, or Rwanda, smuggled to Africa s eastern coast, and finally shipped to smelting factories in Southeast Asia and the Indian sub continent.iii Once the minerals reach the smelting plant they are melted down with other shipments from around the world and any hope of identifying whether or not they were used to fund the growing number of human rights violations occurring in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and throughout Central Africa dissolves. Most funders are already somewhat aware of the problems in the community. Instead of telling the funder what they already know (where they are coming from) they may try to inform them what approach they are going to take to help provide the community an end to the problem. The Literature Review is vital to the process as it provides objective support data and rationales for the arguments in the proposal and the development of the interventions. It is a well developed review of relevant information from creditable sources to lean support to the approaches presented in the proposal. The writer needs to briefly identify why their Target Population(s) should be funded when another group or population whom may be equally at need should not be funded. What makes their target population stick out and be better suited for the funding? Approaches and Methods are often referred to as goals and objectives, and activities and timelines by some funding agencies. This part of the proposal contains a lot of information so the writer should start off with a summary. It is important to reach the target population as if they do not the proposal would be worthless. The Vision, Mission, Goals, Objectives, Activities, and tasks are the terms program planners use. Everyday Use by Alice Walker an Analysis Tamica Powell September 30, 2011 Everyday Use Analysis Everyday Use is a compelling story of a mother s conflicting relationships with her two daughters. Maggie, which the mother feels contains more practical and traditional ways of living life and then Dee her oldest and most promising daughter, who she feels has broken away from tradition and has lost a lot of their heritage. At first glance you would see this as the normal mother daughter spat of maybe the wild child versus the little miss do right. This story holds a much deeper and important meaning. This is an inherent meaning that with the transformation to the Black Panther movement our heritage was being forgotten. The quilts in this story represent African American heritage, they symbolize the pain, tears and struggle African Americans had to go through in the United States. The sister s conflict over who should have the quilts shows the struggle between the Black Power movement and the African American, and who should define its heritage. Dee when asked what she would do with the quilts, she stated Hang them . Dee also vagrantly argued that her sister Maggie would use put the quilts to everyday use . See Dee s argument represents the Black Power movement by using the quilts to hang as a status symbol, to remind her of the social and economic status she has currently obtained. We know what a hero is we know Batman, Superman, Iron man, Captain America, Wonder Woman, and even Wolverine. We also know our everyday heroes firefighters, police officers, medical personnel, and even political leaders. We also know all of our favorite book characters. Sometimes we even think of ancient heroes, great warriors of old, but have our expectations changed since then? After all we know some of these heroes just for slaughtering their enemies. Do we define these people as heroes just because we ve always known them this way. When I think of the most important characteristics that a hero can possibly have, three traits come to mind, these are charisma, courage, and selflessness. Who better to put to the test with this list than the ancient greek hero Odysseus. Obviously a hero must be first and foremost smart enough to get through troubling puzzles, challenges, and obstacles. It is important to note that charisma can be the main quality of a great villain, as well as a great hero. Odysseus definitely has a lot of charisma, it is probably one of his defining qualities. The odyssey is teeming with examples of how smart Odysseus is just for example Odysseus is able to bargain with the witch Circe, go to the underworld and back, trick the cyclops into letting them out, and secretly set up a revolution inside his own home. In the second chapter of Last Child of the Woods, Richard Louv makes the claim that there have been three frontiers in the course of American history. The first phase was the original frontier, before the Industrial Revolution. This was the time of the prairie schooner, the cowboy, the herds of bison that were thousands strong. This was a rough, hard time, when man and nature were constantly thrown together. There was wilderness to spare, and people were willing to move West to get to it. He collects research from many different studies, interviews parents, and finds sources from history. In his second chapter especially, he uses numerous examples of scientific experiments to back his point that people really do not have an adequate realization of the difference between humans and animals. In his third chapter, he conducted an interview with a parent who had moved to a certain neighborhood because of the abundance of outdoor areas. Louv uses this interview to illustrate his point that even if nature is available, it really is not supposed to be used for unstructured recreation. In his second chapter, he draws on U.S. Census Bureau reports to illustrate the decline of the family farm. He uses historical events and ideas to show his idea of the romanticizing of the American frontier. Through these concrete examples, he is able to persuade the reader that his ideas and theories are valid. I think that Louv is right in his opinion that kids are losing touch with nature.
