Symbolism In The Sound Of Waves By Yukio Mishima
In the novel, The Sound of Waves, by Yukio Mishima, the West s encroachment into
the East is depicted allegorically. Mishima incorporates the symbolism of the West s
encroachment of the East in a multitude of ways. The author uses characterization to
depict how Japanese life was affected by Western cultureafter World War II. Minor
characters such as Yasuo Kawamoto and Chiyoko symbolize the West, while the
islandof Uta Jima is a symbol of Japan as a whole. The novel pits the ancient,
traditional values of the island against the new, brash values of the West. Off the
shores of Uta Jima, the author describes a world slowly succumbing to Western
encroachment. The author depicts Shinji as the embodiment of Japanese valuespre
World War II. Shinji is described as living an average islander life. He supports his
family by fishing, something that men on the island have done for generations. The
author illustrates the ocean s importance to the island many times in the novel. Shinji
believes the ocean only brings the good and right things that the island needs
(Mishima 53). The islanders livelihood is heavily reliant on the ocean. The West,
however, is not something that the island needs. Uta Jima is described as being
hardly touched by the West, and that is why there s not a thief on... Show more

Chiyoko represents the West s neutral impact, while Yasuo represents the West s
negative impact. Mishima s depiction of how long established Japanese values and
customs were altered by the United States involvement in Japan offers both a
negative and positive viewpoint. Minor characters such as Yasuo and Chiyoko were
created to symbolize the Western encroachment on Japan. The small island
described in the novel is an allegory for the entire island chain of Japan. The author
uses Uta Jima to describe the West s slow chipping away at the culture he held so
Gang Crime And Crime
The phrase gang crime does not portray an image of injured children, cries of
civilians, tear gas consuming the air, and chaos fled around the eyes of the common
man. As developing nations become more independent, one could argue that their
crime rate would be decreasing as well. However, gang related violence has increased
as developing countries improve economically, socially, and financially. As a result,
their law enforcement system and corruption has increased to win the race of
monetary influence. Gang related fixed through the acquisition of monetary influence
alone. To minimize the threat of organized gang crimeamong developing nations,
governmental agencies must increase law enforcement and reduce internal corruption.

The limitation in sustainable law enforcement reduces the likelihood of the complete
security of citizens in developing countries. In addition, internal corruption within
governments propel organized gang crime. The corruption of Venezuelan
governments allows an increasingly corrupt system. In this government, one earns
rans by loyalty to a political party ( Global World Report 2013). As gangs earn merits
to a particular party, their crimes are accountable for the money they contribute to a
certain party. Another example of corruption within a government is the South
African government. The use of gangs is often implied to eliminate political
opposition. The money that the governments lend gangs increases the amount of
crime they can commit. Often policeman are prone to bribery by gangs gained by
the corrupt officials in the government. According to Human Rights Watch, a human

Racism Today in the United States
Racism Today in the United States After living in a place like Bend Oregon for 18
years I haven t ever noticed a difference between blacks and whites. Bend has been
said to be one of the whitest places to live , yet I never viewed a city by its race.
Being racist to me meant that it was the whites who had a problem with the blacks
and whites didn t want anything to do with blacks. I hadn t actually seen racismin
action from anyone here. Now, after watching the film Crash and reading the essays
Blinded by the White: Crime, Raceand Denial at Columbine High written by Tim

my understanding of race, diversity, and communications have changed.

It s almost as if racism is becoming a huge excuse for problems that are happening
in this world. Racism is the belief that race accounts for differences in human
character or ability and that a particular race is superior to others (Dictionary). I
never viewed racism as blaming things on skin color but that s what it is. Racism is
based on a skin color and culture, not on school shootings and world events. To say
that two African Americanteens organized a school shooting because all the people
in his school were being racist towards him and everyone noticed those racist acts
that would make sense. To say that when two white teens started acting differently
and everyone still saw them as normal would have been caught if they were black,
doesn t make sense. Those teens, whether their skin color was black or white, still
would have been viewed as teens just going through a phase .
With the stereotype that teenagers fall into no matter what their skin color, people
will jump to conclusions and suspect them of something. When it comes to that
particular age group they are in the process of trying to find who they really are, all
teens start acting differently. They go through these phases trying to find which
phase or lifestyle fits who they feel they truly
Modern Day Relevance of The Declaration of

Modern Day Relevance of The Declaration of Independence
The Declaration of Independence is one of the most important documents produced
by an American thinker. Reading The Declaration of Independence presents the
reader with a window into the world of revolutionary America. It conveys the
dynamic nature of the time better than any written work of the period. The real
importance of The Declaration of Independence lies not in the purpose for which
Jefferson created it, to declare independence from Great Britain, but rather how future
generations have interpreted Jefferson s words. Jefferson s document originally
guaranteed basic rights for a select segment of the American population. Today it has
become a document which has been ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The main problem faced by Americans in the Antebellum time periodwas whether or
not to abolish the institution of African American slavery. Many abolitionists, such as
Andrew Lloyd Garrison and Frederick Douglas, among others, would use the moving
language of The Declaration of Independence to attack Southern slaveholders for
keeping their fellow human beings in bondage. They claimed the current government
was failing to secure the rights of, life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, for a
sizable portion of the American population.
Clearly the fact that the creator of The Declaration of Independence owned slaves
made it hard to believe that the aim of the document was to secure the rights of the
African American population. In fact, Jefferson believed that blacks were
intellectually inferior to whites, and incapable of sustaining the Republic. He argued
for a theory on creation that was dismissed by other intellectuals of the time called
the Theory of Polygenesis. This theory was based on the assumption that God had not
created humankind all at once, rather God had created the different races at different
times. Jefferson believed God had created people of European origin to be superior to
other races, and that people of African ancestry were not related to whites genetically.
He used this theory to justify slavery even though he thought that the institution itself
was detrimental to the
Diagnosing And Treating Patients Defines The Overall
Goal...
Diagnosing and treating patients defines the overall goal of any hospital. In
providing healthcare to a patient, the first step in handling a concern is a diagnosis.
Delivering the correct diagnosis determines the resulting healthcare needed to treat a
patient. If an error in diagnosis were to occur, improper treatment may be given to
the patient or the correct treatment may be postponed or even withheld.6 Diagnostic
errors occur frequently, can be caused from a variety of reasons, and have adverse
effects on patients, their families, and even the hospitals that they occur at.
What exactly are diagnostic errors? Diagnostic errors are errors that arise from a
delayed, missed, or incorrect diagnosis.4 Diagnostic errors are relevant in all forms
of medicine and are a sign of a lack of patient care. They can occur in any step of
the diagnostic process: evaluation, patient history, physical exams, testing, referral,
and follow up.8 Errors can happen from a multitude of reasons such as
misjudgments, deficiency of knowledge, or lack of technique.3 As well, it is proven
that malpractice claims that relate to diagnostic errors outweigh all alternative forms
of medical mistakes.5 They are the most frequent, the most expensive, and the most
hazardous form of error in reference to patient health. These types of errors are more
liable to cause a patient death than other types of malpractice including surgical errors
or drug overdoses.7 Considering how life threatening a misdiagnosis

All throughout history, individuals have had a desire to have the perfect lips.
Recently, Kylie Jenner has invented a cosmetics website and store. Within this
cosmetics line, she has made lip kits. These lip kits have gone viral due to the fact
that Kylie is a very famous figure. Over the past month, Kylie gave birth to a baby
girl and many individuals have had an interest in her. The book, The Tipping Point
includes reasoning as to why this lip kit has expanded into something that everyone
wants. Because Kylie Jenner recently gave birth to her daughter the spotlight has
been on her, which leads to an increase in sales of the Kylie Jenner Lip Kit. Kylie

Effects Of Disney Princess Effect On Girls
Is Disney Destroying Our Girls? As a child, I grew up with the Disney pop culture
surrounding me. I constantly watched Disney movies, cartoons, and I even played
with their toys like every other kid in America during the early 2000s. Not much
has changed except the increase and growth of their industry. With the expanding
$4 billion revenue (Hanes 510) flowing in each year, they have added more
princesses along the way. While some girls are ecstatic over the new additions to
the princess family, some adults are not. This is not a common opinion among
many Disney fanatics to see, but the author of Little Girls or Little Women? The
Disney Princess Effect Stephanie Hanes is one of the few that are not satisfied with
the work of Walt, bringing an eccentric point of view to our attention. Parents, like
Hanes, fear the psychological effect it can leave on their daughters and how it can
potentially narrow their future goals. Hanes s argument uses ethos, logos, and pathos
to skillfully to argue the point of the Disney Princess effect on girls. As a girl, Disney
s industry was an avid part of my youth and I was convinced that I would become
Bellefrom Beauty and the Beast one day. I wrote to Santa and waited patiently for
new princess gowns at Christmas time so I could be a different character each
Halloween. You can say that I have a lot in common with Mary Finucane s daughter
that we hear about in Little Girls or Little Women? The Disney Princess Effect . Ms.

Scientific Method Essay
Scientific Method
Thales of Miletus (624 546 B.C.) was the first to suggest a single material
substratum for the universe namely water or moisture. His cosmology proposes
that all objects in the universe are composed of water. His choice of water as the
component building block of all matter may have been due to the apparent motion of
bodies of water and the conversion of water to vapor and back.
Anaximander of Miletus (610 545 B.C.) was the foremost student of Thales. He
denied Thales claim that water was the basic matter of the universe, stating instead
that the world was derived from apeiron (meaning unlimited ). The state of apeiron

Each generation of scientists takes the knowledge, theories and cosmologies of the
generations of scientists who came before, building and expanding on them in light
of new developments and knowledge. Does the fact that a theory of our scientific
forefathers, which had been universally accepted, is proven incorrect invalidate their
efforts? I donГ•t believe so, but Sir Karl Popper, in Science: Conjectures and
Refutations, would seem to argue otherwise when he states that the criterion of the
scientific status of a theory is its falsifiability.
The modern scientific method is composed of several steps: observation, hypothesis,
experimentation and verification. On observation of a phenomenon a scientist will
attempt to interpret the phenomenon is light of current scientific knowledge (theory).
The scientist will then attempt to develop experiments in which to determine the
validity of the theory. Through this experimentation the theory will either be
validated or disproved. Popper states that any experiment must be a serious attempt to
disprove or invalidate the theory being tested, and further, that any theory so
disproven cannot be considered science.
Poppers views descend from the fact that the physical laws, whether known or as yet
undiscovered, are immutable. Science, though, is the discipline concerned with the
search for these unchanging physical laws. The history of science is a progression of
insights and revelations based on the

Protection of life is NOT a legitimate use for a firearm in this country sir! Not! That

Canada would be in anarchy as they slowly watch their country slip into violence

age or 90 years of age, has there ever been a time where safety is found in holding a

these did help him win a majority government.
Lastly, if people feel unsafe with firearms they possess they can simply rid of them,
when the right time comes, through a Gun Amnesty Drive . This is where people
can drop off a firearm that you possess that is inherited or simply, no longer in
usage. That means that people can use a gun amnesty drive to drive away the
worry of that weapon crashing into the wrong hands (Verbal Irony). Toronto Police

these programs are not repurposed for the use of police officers, but are destroyed,

Movie Review of The Monumental Men
What surprised me the most about The Monuments Men is how dull it was most of
the time. All the ingredients were present to have a fun and intense movie. There
was a lot of potential that wasn t utilized. It s entertaining in spurts, but went
through too many spots that had me bored. In the end, it s a decent movie to pass
the time and has things going for it, but it just leaves you wanting more from the
material. I didn t want to judge too much when I heard the news that the release
date had been switched from its award friendly December to February. That s
usually a negative sign, and it was in this case. Since this was directed by George

Angela s take on it we will explore ageism, sexism, and greed. Though the story

The Pros And Cons Of Free Speech
Toronto University Professor Jordan Peterson was set to speak at Ryerson university
about stifling free speech just recently until his talk got cancelled because of the
chaos and controversy it caused. Peterson objected to society s insane legislation
about gender identity, and gender expression. The most controversial thing Peterson
said is that he will not come to use preferred pronouns to refer to people s gender
identity such as zhe or zher . This is a perfect example of No Platforming . No
platforming is defined as not giving an organization or person a platform to speak
in a certain social setting and this can be a difficult topic considering it steps on
one of the most important rights of people; free speech. In this paper we will trek
through two sides of a debate and conclude what is free speech and how can it affect
our everyday life.
In the video: To speak or not to speak: Should universities practice no platforming
there were two very convincing sides of the debate. On the first side of the debate
supporting No platforming the question they were asking is if it was truly
legitimate for activists to demand for no platforming. They believe that free speech
is trapped in a web of power relations. Another main point to the pro no platforming
side of the debate is that the freedom of speech does not give you the right to a
platform nor the right to force people to listen to your opinion/ ideas or to be listened
to by others. In contrast the other side of the

Organizational control is the systematic process through which managers regulate
organizational activities to make them consistent with expectations established in
plans, targets and standards of performance (Kuratko, 2001). These organizational
expectations are a collection of goals and accountabilities represented in the budget,
which help establish performance metrics, document actual performances, allow
comparison between the estimated and actual performance, and allow for corrective
actions (Jones George Hill, 2003). Measures of financial performance are those ratios
against which actual performance can be meaningfully measured against the
expectations of the budget. These measures are objective measures of performance,

There are enough assets to pay short term claims, but the stock performance lags
the S P by almost 2/3 raising the question in my mind if they have too much non
performing assets on hand which need to be reevaluated. The quick ratio answers
the question of whether an organization can pay claims without selling inventory.
Inventory is not necessarily worth the amount represented on the books, and
removing it from this calculation gives a better view of whether or not an
organization has liquid assets available. If a company has too much of its liquidity
tied up in inventory, it will be dependent on selling that inventory to finance its
operations and will have a low quick ratio (Motley Fool). Leverage ratios measure
the use of debt or equity to finance operations, with the use of debt becoming
problematic if profits cannot cover the interest on the debt (Jones George Hill,
2003). Two common such ratios are debt to assets ratio and times covered ratio.
Debt to assets shows to what extent the organization is financed with debt, with a
lower number being more favorable. With a low number, an organization and its
investors can be more confident a company can weather difficult times. Real
Networks, as discussed earlier, has a debt to equity ratio close to zero, largely
because there is close to no debt this is a company which can weather some difficult
times, however while the debt remains low, the equity is decreasing as well

Communication plays a massive part once building a relationship in the work setting.
By regularly keeping effective communication between practioners, parents/careers
and children makes a positive working environment. The relationships are mostly
based on the type of communication between one another, communication is not just
by verbally but also the body language we show, facial expressions and our gestures.

Not only do you talk to them but also the child will response, or even approach you
first to communicate; either for a general conversation or to ask a question.
All children are different, either it is by the way they re brought up, their culture,
have different beliefs, and in the way they communicate for example; English is an
additional language.
If you had a child in the nursery who had English as a second language, and knew
few words, verbally communicating with this child wouldn t be the first thing you
would do. There are loads of different ways to do this for example; using picture cars
with words, not only will this technique help communicate but also help build the
childs English vocabulary. Another being demonstrating, for example; in an activity,
lets say gluing and sticking, show the child what to do by demonstrating the activity
for them to then copy your actions.
Communication is very important, not only with the child/ young person but also
their parents/ careers. Parents and careers need to be kept updated with everything
that happens with their child/children and information that they need to know about
the nursery itself. The stronger the relationship between the practioners and the
parent/ career the stronger the trust the parents/ careers have with their child/ children
in your care.
Information should be shared on a day to day basis between the practioner and the
parent/ career abpout everything that happens in the nursery.

Palahniuk s Fight Club
In the consumer driven society of corporate America, Chuck introduces an nameless
narrator who is detached from the world and looking for changes. The narrator who
is driven mad by his insomnia causes him to create an alternate personality that
rebels against modern society. In an effort to find peace in his daily life he

Fighting Strategies In The Vietnam War
The Vietnam War was a humbling and costly war for the United States. Although
many assumed it would be a quick war due to the battle being in a third world
country, the United States troops were unprepared for the type of war that would be
fought. The techniques and strategies used to fight the North Vietnamese Army and
Vietcong were too conventional to fight guerrilla warfare. Politically, the war was a
disaster both in Vietnam and in the United States.
The American fighting techniques used in the Vietnam War were often not only
costly, but inconsistent and improvised. Because America was a first world country
and Vietnam was a third world country, it was assumed that America s vast military
power would easily defeat the South Vietnamese... Show more content on

They fought at the times and places of their own choosing and not in a traditional
battle sense, and the US was not prepared for this. If the Vietcong felt they were
losing a battle they would melt away into the jungle, retreat into North Vietnam,
Laos and Cambodia, living to fight another day. The North Vietnamese used the art
of camouflage to disguise their transportation vehicles, putting palm fronds and
banana leaves on truck roofs and traveling at night without headlights. Herbicides
were used by the US to deprive the Vietcong of natural cover. Over 100 million
pounds of agent orange or chemicals like it were sprayed over millions of acres of
forest with devastating ecological consequences. These herbicides destroyed half of
South Vietnamese timberlands. In Operation Popeye the US attempted and
succeeded at extending the monsoon season by a couple of weeks by seeding the
clouds with silver iodide. The purpose of the operation was to flood the Ho Chi
Minh Trail (the trail that the communist in North Vietnam used to provide supplies
and troops to fight in South Vietnam), attempt to cause mudslides, wash out river
crossings, and impede the North Vietnamese troops. The Air Force pilots who
carried out Operation Popeye used the slogan Make mud not war as some people
viewed this as an alternative to combat and bombing

Going back to the issue, is it right to abolish pork barrel? Following are some of the
arguments presented that support the abolition of PDAF. Legislators concede that
the PDAF is corruptible and has been corrupted through the years. (Crisologo, 2013
) It is because it served as a tool for bargaining or negotiation in different levels.
Such compromise exchange according to Tawanaka can exemplify the transaction
between the President who is dominant in budget making and implementation and
the congress in general legislation by using the PDAF to meet both party s needs.
Also, in the districts themselves, the PDAF is political. Congressmen have become
the charitable beacons to their followers, in spite of the legitimate needs of others.
The worst manifestation of this is when personal gain is involved and individuals
like Napoles provide the mechanism for this corruption. It also becomes a way to
fund political patronage, where the money is given to those who will ensure them
another term in government. (Crisologo, 2013 )With these, the objective to allocate
this fund only for public purposes was violated. Instead of fulfilling public s interests,
people s money went to corrupt politicians pockets. Concomitantly, some of our

The Dentist Of Auschwitz Summary
When I read, I prefer to read books with a lot of surprising events occurring that
will keep me interested. For the most part, this book did. In this book, The Dentist
of Auschwitz, a man by the name of Bronek Jakubowicz, who was also the author,
tells how he lived through and survived the holocaust. He faces things no human
should have to go through. He witnessed only abuse and death for around 5 years.
Bronek was a Jew, just like almost everyone else put in camp with him. Bronek was
from Poland, just like most of his fellow inmates. But one thing that made him
different and was the reason he survived was that he was a dentist. In Jewish
concentration camps, many of the people in the camp including the Nazi officers

Reason being is because they showed just how bad off the Jews were. The first
sentence that I read and thought a lot about was, Look at you. You look like a
Mussulman. You are in no shape to be a dentist. This quote was one of the most
important quotes to me because it meant that Bronek was so skinny and dirty, he
looked dead. A mussulman was what they called the prisoners that were about to
die and you could tell. Another quote that stuck out to me was, Although minorities
were treated fairly, Jews were made an exception. In the late 1930 s in Poland,
those who had previously sat on the fence joined Hitler in the Nazi s racial policy.
Even though we were born there, we were considered foreigners. This quote may
not seem like it means much, but it really did to me. This quote meant a lot to me
because even though they had been born and raised in Poland, they were not really
accepted and were treated like an unknown race. One more quote that stood out to
me was, I left with a heavy heart full of painful memories. I had revisited a
nightmare. This quote was important to me because it tells how it was still
depressing and sad to visit the old site where he had been held prisoner. This shows
just how bad they were
A Reflection Of I Am Joaquin
I Am Joaquin, also known as Yo soy Joaquin, is a famous poem, which associated
with the Chicano movement in the 1960s in the United States. The poem was written
by Rodolfo Corky Gonzales, a Mexican American boxer, poet, and political activist.
Besides that, there is a photograph, which also talks about the Chicanomovement, and
it named The National Chicano Moratorium Protest/March was held on August 29,
1970. Both the poem and the photograph spoke of the struggles that the Chicano
people had faced in fighting to achieve the economic justice and equal right in the
United States.
As we know, Mexican Americans had been oppressed for years in the United States.
We can say that they were sometimes treated worse than African Americans.
According to the textbook, the Mexican American Political Association (MAPA)
formed in 1959, but there were a few memberships. Besides that, many MAPA
members were active in the liberal California Democratic Council (CDC), which
supported the Civil Rights movement and promoted representation for African
Americans but ignored Mexicans (Acuna 300). Recognizing that, Gonzales wrote the
poem I Am Joaquin, which spoke of the oppression of Mexican Americans to reach
out to Chicano youth fighting to get the cultural security and the political and
economic justice. The poem was appreciated because it provided the revolutionary
movement with a brief statement of Chicano nationalism and ideology. Similar to the
poem, the photograph had outlined the Chicano people s political ideology. They
wanted to live in the peaceful, non violent, and they wanted to fight for civil rights
and to end the war. In order to promote the Chicano movement, Chicano people had
given out many strategies. By 1967, more students of Mexican entered into the
colleges. They formed the Mexican American Student Association (MASA) and on
May 13, 1967, Chicano students met at Loyola University (Los Angeles) and founded
the United Mexican American Students (UMAS) (Acuna 309). The organizations
mainly gained the rights for Chicano people about the public education, Mexican
American studies programs, antiwar, and labor movements. Besides fighting to
achieve the civil rights, Mexican Americans established many organizations
Budget Cuts In Schools
Seeming insignificant and being seen as an unreliable and an inconsistent source of
money, classes such as art, poetry, or drama get cut. For these classes of which have
been an inspiration to many artists to be let go, the school must undergo budget cuts.
Negatively affecting the learning environment, budget cuts have been public enemy
number one in schools worldwide. Due to these cuts teachers get laid off and those
students who were in that class go on to other classes, essentially, doubling the
original class size. However, what do we do about those who seem to enjoy the arts
provided by their school? Let alone, those who have become inspired and envision
becoming world renown someday? Decreasing desires and disregardment of the

The sublime is described as a feeling of sudden pleasure that arises unexpectedly. In
other words, a momentary check to vital forces, i.e. a near death experience. These
are the kind of emotions the sublime tries to capture and create. There are four
components to the sublime. There is the romantic sublime, the gothic sublime, the
technological sublime, and the apocalyptic sublime. When looking at the romantic
sublime and the gothic sublime, it is comparative that the romantic sublime focuses
on nature with lighter colors and charming tones that represent the vastness of space,
while the gothic sublime focuses on the darker side of nature and the infiniteness.
The Romantic and Gothic Sublime paints infiniteness as an unimaginable emptiness
that is most unsettling. This idea of emptiness is pervasive. The sublime describes
nature as covered by solitude, desolateness and loneliness. The painful feeling is
essential to the attainment of the sublime, which draws to the deeper passions of
someone. Edmund Burke defines the sublime as a quality of art or experience
Paper Impact On The Ancient World
The Effect of Paper on the Ancient World
There are many inventions that people use on a day to day basis without thinking
about what life would be like if they had not been invented such as computers and
cars. One of these inventions is paper, which is frequently used for multiple purposes
like books, art, and important documents. The making of things like books and art
vastly increased when paper spread across the ancient world. Paper allowed for an
easy to transport and long lasting material for writing on. It also provided a
different way of currency that made item exchange easier for merchants. The
invention of and use of paper in the ancient world was extremely significant and
helped to make many civilizations more advanced because it was easily accessible,
made a new way of paying for goods, and increased the amount of literature and art.
It is believed that paper was first invented in 105 AD by a man named Cai Lun who
was a civil servant in Luoyang, China (Monro). During 105 AD, the Han dynasty
was in power. The Han dynasty was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

When paper was created, its convenience for transport and being easy to write on
are what made it so popular in ancient times. Writing surfaces such as clay tablets
and papyrus were used before paper existed, but they were difficult to use . Clay
tablets were very heavy and were hard to transport while papyrus disintegrated and
was not good for permanent use (Mitenbuler). This caused people to search for an
alternative writing material that would satisfy their needs, which lead to the

To begin with, King Pellinore is comical in The Once and Future King. King
Pellinore s comical side is displayed widely throughout the novel. King Pellinore s
appearance is shown as a comical one. When Pellinore lifted up his visor, it
revealed, two enormous eyes frosted like ice (White 22). These eyes turned out to
be spectacles that were, fogged by being inside the helmet (White 22). King
Pellinore s appearance was further established as comical when his helmet s visor
continuously kept closing. King Pellinore is also shown as comical through his
clumsiness. When Wart first meets Pellinore, Pellinore nearly falls off his horse. He
also dropped his lance and his spectacles. As he bends over to get his items, his visor
continues to shut. This adds to King Pellinore s comical characteristic. Additionally,

Pullman Strike Research Paper
Emily Mr. Ten Eyck US History 1 19 14 The Pullman Strike The Pullman Strike of
1894 affected worker s rights in a positive way. The Pullman Strike strike was
named after George Pullman. George Pullman was a man who became rich off of
his manufacturing of sleeper and luxury railcars (Lawrence). Pullman was so
successful that he had a city named after him, which he owned. In the panic of
1893, Pullman s revenue dropped because of the lessened demand for his cars
(McNamara). Because of this drop in revenue, Pullman cut the wages of his workers,
but kept the rent the same. Worker s became outraged because they couldn t afford
these changes. Pullman refused to negotiate with his workers, which caused the
American Railway Union, lead by Eugene Debs, to take action (McNamara). This
union consisted of over 260,000 workers nationwide to participate in the strike.
Worker s supported the ARU by not moving trains with Pullman cars (Ginger). This
caused Detroit traffic to come to an... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But, even though Pullman didn t make any changes, the strike influenced that way
the public viewed worker s rights and the role of management and mediation of labor
unions. Before government intervention, the public s opinion about supporting the
strike was split. The western and southern part of America generally supported the
strike while the east generally opposed it (H.W.). But people began to question the
amount of control of the government after President Cleveland sent in troops to shut
down the strikes. 30 died and 57 were injured (Lawrence). Using military forces to
union bust was a milestone in American history. Besides the Homestead strike two
years earlier, the Pullman strike was first to be shut down violently by the military
(Levitt). After these event, public opinion changed. The majority did not support the
government and Pullman, and when Pullman died in 1897, people were said to have
desecrated his body
Examples Of A Forced Oscillator
The steam engine is a perfect example of a forced oscillator as the piston oscillates
back and forth. The steam engine is a forced oscillator as it is a heavily dampened
system that has a force to counter the resistance and keep the piston moving at a
constant oscillation until the force is removed from the system.
Due to the steam engine being quite heavily damped this oscillator will just simply
stop without a force to compensate for the resistance within this system. But this
force also has to be applied at the perfect time as it will have no or little affect if it
is applied at the wrong time so timing has to be taken into account and the size of the
force also has to be just enough to overcome the resistance to either accelerate the
piston or to keep it a constant velocity. The force though has to be equal to
resistance to keep the piston moving at a constant velocity and to increase the
velocity of the piston the force will have to be greater than the resistance in the
system, but to decrease the velocity of the piston the force will have to be less than
the resistance in the system. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
So if there is no resistance this system could act like simple harmonic motion, but
there is resistance in the system which means without the force it is a damped system
and because of this force it has to be classified as a forced oscillator. So all of these
forces act have to act in perfect harmony to keep the oscillating motion going or else
this oscillator will no act like a forced oscillator and will act like a damped oscillator
or a simple harmonic

The Three Men that Escaped Alcatraz
Escaping Alcatraz
After the three men escaped Alcatraz the FBI had a 17 year trial. How did the three
men escape Alcatraz? The three men were John and Clarence Anglin, Frank
Morris. There were four men total involved in the escape. Allen West was the only
one that could not get out of his cell through the hole. How did the three men
escaped? Frank used a clay head to put in his bed while escaping so when the
guards looked at his cell they saw his (fake) head. They used spoons to dig a tunnel
that took over a year. The tunnel that they dug brought them to an unused corridor.
West could not make it out of his cell and was left behind. From the service corridor
they climbed a ventilation shaft to reach the roof.
Where did the trio end up? The next morning it was discovered that the trio
escaped. At first it was thought that the escapees had been decapitated. Police
searched for the escapees on Alcatraz and Angel Island without success. Remnants
of the raft, paddles and a bag containing the Anglins personal effects were found on
Angel Island. According to the FBI, when it was theoretically possible for the 3
inmates to have reached Angel Island, the cold water temperatures and the direction
of the oceans tides made this unlikely. The FBI also said that the plans of the
inmates were to steal clothes and a car once they reached land, Although no car or
clothing thefts were reported in the area following the escape.

Coach Is An American New York Based Company Essay
Coach is an American New York based company competing in the clothing sector of
the consumer goods industry. Its products include leather goods for both men and
women. Through exceptional customer service the company maintains and builds a
loyal and dependable clientele. Unique designs and branding has distinguished the
company from its peers. Peers include but not limited to L Brands Incorporated,
PVH Corp., Ralph Lauren Corp., Tiffany Co., VF Corp., Estee Lauder Incorporated,
Kate Spade Co., Abercrombie Fitch and Michael Kors Holdings Limited. From
fragrances, sunglasses, outerwear, travel bags, men s belts, wallets and gloves the
company has strategically remained relevant in the marketplace. Coach has been
profoundly involved in increasing its global presence in the Asian markets.
Coach experienced declining revenues in 2014 2015 after sluggish brand value. The
company abandoned the strategy of discounting after customer demand for
promotional products deterred interests in paying full price. Coach made a marketing

Gypsy Rose Lee s Era
The striptease is still very much relevant and alive today as it was when it was first
introduced to the world nearly 80 years ago. This timeless and provocative dance
was the product of Gypsy Rose Lee, but by no means should one refer to her as a
stripper . Doing so would be a great injustice to this iconic figure; it would be
sacrilegious. Gypsy, born Rose Louise Hovick, brought more than sensual allure to
the stage; Gypsy was intelligent, funny, and witty. An example of her immense wit
and improve skills can be seen in how the stripteasecame into being. When the strap
to Gypsy s costume came undone during a performance, rather than run off stage in
embarrassment, Gypsy noticed the positive audience reaction, causing her to
implement the act into the focus of her performance. Although many dancers
(sometimes referred to as strippers ) of Gypsy Rose Lees era attempted various
gimmicks to stand out and make a name for themselves, no one could quite
compare to the charisma and character that illuminated the stage of Gypsy Rose
Lee. American writer H.L. Mencken even coined the term ecdysiast just for Gypsy,
which he felt was a more dignified way of referring to Gypsy in her profession.
Gypsy may be an icon to many, even inspiring a musical based on her memoirs titled
Gypsy: A Musical Fable., but she is also a woman who is much greater than the
performer known on stage. Before Gypsy, there was just Rose Louise, born January

Theu.s. Constitution Vs. The Constitution
The U.S Constitution was written by James Madison and was ratified on July 21,
1788. Ever since people had trouble determining how it should be interpreted. When
judges interpret the constitution, they are interpreting new facts to an established law
that has been given meaning and has a historical background. Many people argue that
it should be read how it was written who are known as Originalists. Then there are
people who believe that the Constitutionevolves as society does and they are known as
Living Constitutionalists. Also, some feel that the goal is not do determine whether
the constitution should be determined originally or as a living document, but to give
meaning on the basis of facts. In my paper I will discuss arguments on how the
Constitution should be read, whether it be from the Originalists or the Living
Constitutionalist s point of view, and why Living Constitutionalism is better. As
society evolves, there are new and more difficult problems that occur, and they cannot
be solved by reading the exact text of the Constitution which makes Living
Constitutionalism better. According to Meese Their intention was to write a
document not just for their times, but for posterity. (Meese 15) Living
Constitutionalists might say this is a very bold statement. This quote basically means
that the Framers were trying to create a document that would address future and
present problems. A common question that is asked is what did the Framers mean

Illegal Immigrants And The United States
Furthermore, the proper outlook here is one where we acknowledge that we have
these potentially undocumented individuals living and working in the United States,
and they aren t going be be removed all at once, so while these individuals are here,
why not give them the necessary tools and programs to allow them to function as
productive members of society without restriction. In many of our readings, we ve
witnessed legislation that has also played a role in the deterred success of illegal
immigrants and those here legally. Legislation such as barring immigrants from being

communities across the nation as they seek to improve their own lives. Denying
a
significant proportion of immigrants the ability to access a driver s license
undercuts the real and potential benefits that an immigrant population offers. Outside
of the metropolitan areas all around the United States, you have members of the iliac
immigrant population who are unable to get drivers license, but the reside in
places where there is little to no access to public transportation. Here you have not
only economic strife for the immigrant population, but also a great risk of danger
to the population as a whole due to those who drive cars without the proper
instruction and documentation. One major conclusion that can be drawn from the
abuse that illegal immigrants face on a social level could be related to the notion
of how they are treated and regarded in legally standings. To a degree, government
and law are the entities that set the larger example for how we are to conduct
ourselves as citizens of the United States, and when we look to the government and
see the laws we have against immigrants coming to this country, its not an example
of respect and fair treatment. In connection with the issues that day laborers face on

Clothing And Make-Up In Edward Scissorhands
Edward Scissorhands, directed by Tim Burton is a story about a monster (or outsider)
who enters into the so called peaceful neighbourhood and disturbs the calm. the
message of isolation and alienation is shown through the colour, costume/makeup and
setting that are used through the film.
The costume and make up in Edward Scissorhands is used generate feeling and
emotions in the audience. There are major differences in what Edward wears and
looks like and what the humans wear and look like. The costumes guide the
audience in to thinking what kind of characters the people are and will turn out to
be like. The town s people are dressed in a typical 1950 s style. This makes them
look very simplistic in their ways, on the outside. The women s clothes are very
bright and overly colourful. The colours used generate the view that the
townspeople are all very normal, and everything appears to be alright on the
outside. The make up on the women accents and highlights their look. The houses
are also very bright and false looking, almost like doll houses. Edward, in contrast, is
dressed in dark clothes. The make up used on him makes his skin look very pale, very
ghostly and pasty. His clothes are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first time colour is used is when the grandma is telling the story of Edward
Scissorhands to the little girl in the oversized bed. Visually, this scene is reminiscent
of fairy tales and is another means used by Burton to indicate the purpose of his
story. The two worlds are contrasted visually by the use of colour, the kitsch pastel
colours and uniform shapes of the suburban houses differing completely from the
black and white of the derelict castle. The suburban world is apparently perfect with
its cloudless blue sky, spotless houses, well kept gardens and stereotypical inhabitants
who are contrasted with the imperfection of the unfinished Edward

Do you think that the united states should conduct nuclear bomb tests at Bikini
Atoll? There are some people that wants to test the nuclear bomb at bikini atoll and
some does not want to test nuclear bombs at bikini atoll.Bikini Atoll was
unnecessarily bombed by the United States and the land, the ocean and the people
had their lives destroyed. So it is with or against the United States. The land from
the bikini atoll was destroyed. Not just bikini atoll go hit by the blast of the bomb
there were other islands near it that go hit by it. And those islands including the
Bikini atoll was Bikini, Eneu, Nam and Endrik. And the blast did not destroy the
islands but some of them have radiations on it. Luckily no one was on the Bikini Atoll
Creative Thinking Job With Google
I am prepared for a creative thinking job with google, working on the Google Home
because of the skills that I developed through my technical communication class. In
LMC 3403 I expanded my knowledge on technical communication and continued to
grow as an individual. I learned a lot about a different types of voice personas and
the characteristics of soundinterfaces. Perhaps the biggest takeaway in the class for
me came through the development of my groups own sound interface. We were
forced to focus on the user interaction and really think about the characteristics that
the voice would possess, including the details that go into a voice persona like Siri,
Alexa, and the Google Home.
During LMC 3403 I acquired a foundational vocabulary for discussing and
analyzing sounds, voices, and modes of listening through the work done on my
blog post. I learned about soundscapes and how the use of tempo, pitch, and
intensity create different emotions; contribute to the overall goal of the
environment. For instance take a weight room and library for instance. The goal
of a weight room is to give high levels of effort and physical effort. So you may
have loud intense music playing, this gets the blood going. You also may here the
low grunts of other athletes exerting their efforts. This creates an environment of
hard work and motivates you to work harder. Now take a library for example you
may here the low hum of the air conditioner, the thuds of books going back on the
shelf, and the
My Mask Research Paper
My mask features materials such as white tissue paper, pearl balls, silver glitter,
sparkly paper, silver flowers and silver pen. These materials were used on my mask to
give it a bright and pure white look. Masks were worn at masquerade balls for the
purpose of hiding ones true identity, wearing a masklike this would give the illusion
that the wearer was perfect, or angelic. Except, for around the eyes where I also
used a black marker and red glitter glue for the pattern on there. Generally the only
recognisable feature on someones face while wearing a mask, are the eyes. Which
happens to be the darkest part of the mask. Therefor, the mask is saying that beneath
this pure and plain mask, is a flawed person, a real person.

Career Satisfaction And Employee Retention For Novice...
We have learned that nursing theory defines nursing as a practice and is based on
conceptual frameworks. For framework to be developed into theory one must start
with a concept to provide a structure. A concept is a generalized idea that when
placed in context will develop its meaning and application in addition to advancing
the knowledge of a specific area (Meier, 2013). A concept analysis s purpose is to
examine the basic elements of a concept that are used for theory development and
define its attributes (Meier, 2013). The aim of this concept analysis will be to gain a
broader understanding about the concept mentoring and how it is linked to employee
satisfaction and employee retention to novice nursing staff. In an article from the
Oklahoma Nursejournal it is mentioned that mentor programs and mentorship allows
for continued growth for novice staff (Davis and Maisano, 2016). Dr. Benner s
theory of Novice to Expert provides support that a novice to expert relationship
occurs in a mentoring relationship; this relationship will lead to career satisfaction
and intent to stay in nursing (Mariani, 2012). This mentoring concept analysis will
follow an outline of concept definitionwith defining attributes in addition to a
literature review to examine current themes, facts, and ideas about the concept. To
provide addition clarity of mentoring, antecedents and consequences will be
described. To measure the concept has occurred, empirical referents will be explored.

Witch of Blackbird Pond Summary Essay
After her grandfather s death in 1687, 16 year old Kit feels that she must leave and
sail to the only relatives she knows of, her uncle and aunt in Wethersfield,
Connecticut. She desperately travels there on a ship called the Dolphin, where she

always has a mocking grin on his face and Kit occasionally flirts with him on the
boat. When she arrives in Wethersfield, Connecticut, she is taken by surprise at the
dull landscape and endless fields. Kit meets her uncle, a strict and sometimes grumpy
man named Matthew Wood, her aunt, a sweet and caring woman named Rachel, her
cousin Judith, a picky and vain young lady who s otherwise kind, and her other
cousin Mercy, a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

one Phosgene has a large history, invented by a chemist in Britain in the year
1812. With the chemical make up of COCL2 at room temperature phosgene will
evaporate and give off vapors concentrated enough to cause respiratory damage,
used widely in the Great War and also in World War II. In the Great War phosgene
had accounted for over half of the deaths caused by chemical warfare. This
material in the military is widely known as CG but now in modern days this

Krista Graduate School Experience
I started off by asking a lot of questions about her career and what college was like
for her. The first question that I asked her about was why she decided to go into
library science. After working during her undergrad years as a student worker at
Northwestern College library, she really did not see herself going into any other
career. We then begin to talk about what her roles were while working in an
academic library. She then stared to say she is a reference for students, in charge of
band book week, outreach programs, administrative work, evaluating all of the
reference tools and the chair of meetings. We also talked about what was graduate
schoollike for her. Krista graduate school experience was awkward. She was one of

Mishima incorporates the symbolism of the West s encroachment of the East in a multitude of ways. The author uses characterization to depict how Japanese life was affected by Western cultureafter World War II. Minor characters such as Yasuo Kawamoto and Chiyoko symbolize the West, while the islandof Uta Jima is a symbol of Japan as a whole. The novel pits the ancient, traditional values of the island against the new, brash values of the West. Off the shores of Uta Jima, the author describes a world slowly succumbing to Western encroachment. The author depicts Shinji as the embodiment of Japanese valuespre World War II. Shinji is described as living an average islander life. He supports his family by fishing, something that men on the island have done for generations. The author illustrates the ocean s importance to the island many times in the novel. Shinji believes the ocean only brings the good and right things that the island needs (Mishima 53). The islanders livelihood is heavily reliant on the ocean. The West, however, is not something that the island needs. To say that two African Americanteens organized a school shooting because all the people in his school were being racist towards him and everyone noticed those racist acts that would make sense. To say that when two white teens started acting differently and everyone still saw them as normal would have been caught if they were black, doesn t make sense. Modern Day Relevance of The Declaration of Independence The Declaration of Independence is one of the most important documents produced by an American thinker. Reading The Declaration of Independence presents the reader with a window into the world of revolutionary America. It conveys the dynamic nature of the time better than any written work of the period. The real importance of The Declaration of Independence lies not in the purpose for which Jefferson created it, to declare independence from Great Britain, but rather how future generations have interpreted Jefferson s words. The main problem faced by Americans in the Antebellum time periodwas whether or not to abolish the institution of African American slavery. Many abolitionists, such as Andrew Lloyd Garrison and Frederick Douglas, among others, would use the moving language of The Declaration of Independence to attack Southern slaveholders for keeping their fellow human beings in bondage. They claimed the current government was failing to secure the rights of, life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, for a sizable portion of the American population. Clearly the fact that the creator of The Declaration of Independence owned slaves made it hard to believe that the aim of the document was to secure the rights of the African American population. In fact, Jefferson believed that blacks were intellectually inferior to whites, and incapable of sustaining the Republic. He argued for a theory on creation that was dismissed by other intellectuals of the time called the Theory of Polygenesis. This theory was based on the assumption that God had not created humankind all at once, rather God had created the different races at different times. Jefferson believed God had created people of European origin to be superior to other races, and that people of African ancestry were not related to whites genetically. He used this theory to justify slavery even though he thought that the institution itself was detrimental to the

In providing healthcare to a patient, the first step in handling a concern is a diagnosis. Delivering the correct diagnosis determines the resulting healthcare needed to treat a patient. If an error in diagnosis were to occur, improper treatment may be given to the patient or the correct treatment may be postponed or even withheld.6 Diagnostic errors occur frequently, can be caused from a variety of reasons, and have adverse effects on patients, their families, and even the hospitals that they occur at. What exactly are diagnostic errors? Diagnostic errors are errors that arise from a delayed, missed, or incorrect diagnosis.4 Diagnostic errors are relevant in all forms of medicine and are a sign of a lack of patient care. They can occur in any step of the diagnostic process: evaluation, patient history, physical exams, testing, referral, and follow up.8 Errors can happen from a multitude of reasons such as misjudgments, deficiency of knowledge, or lack of technique.3 As well, it is proven that malpractice claims that relate to diagnostic errors outweigh all alternative forms of medical mistakes.5 They are the most frequent, the most expensive, and the most hazardous form of error in reference to patient health. These types of errors are more liable to cause a patient death than other types of malpractice including surgical errors or drug overdoses.7 Considering how life threatening a misdiagnosis

I donГ•t believe so, but Sir Karl Popper, in Science: Conjectures and Refutations, would seem to argue otherwise when he states that the criterion of the scientific status of a theory is its falsifiability. The modern scientific method is composed of several steps: observation, hypothesis, experimentation and verification. On observation of a phenomenon a scientist will attempt to interpret the phenomenon is light of current scientific knowledge (theory). The scientist will then attempt to develop experiments in which to determine the validity of the theory. Through this experimentation the theory will either be validated or disproved. No platforming is defined as not giving an organization or person a platform to speak in a certain social setting and this can be a difficult topic considering it steps on one of the most important rights of people; free speech. Inventory is not necessarily worth the amount represented on the books, and removing it from this calculation gives a better view of whether or not an organization has liquid assets available. If a company has too much of its liquidity tied up in inventory, it will be dependent on selling that inventory to finance its operations and will have a low quick ratio (Motley Fool). Leverage ratios measure the use of debt or equity to finance operations, with the use of debt becoming problematic if profits cannot cover the interest on the debt (Jones George Hill, 2003). Such compromise exchange according to Tawanaka can exemplify the transaction between the President who is dominant in budget making and implementation and the congress in general legislation by using the PDAF to meet both party s needs. Also, in the districts themselves, the PDAF is political. Congressmen have become the charitable beacons to their followers, in spite of the legitimate needs of others. The worst manifestation of this is when personal gain is involved and individuals like Napoles provide the mechanism for this corruption. It also becomes a way to fund political patronage, where the money is given to those who will ensure them another term in government. (Crisologo, 2013 )With these, the objective to allocate this fund only for public purposes was violated. Instead of fulfilling public s interests, people s money went to corrupt politicians pockets. Concomitantly, some of our legislators, like

In this book, The Dentist of Auschwitz, a man by the name of Bronek Jakubowicz, who was also the author, tells how he lived through and survived the holocaust. He faces things no human should have to go through. He witnessed only abuse and death for around 5 years. Bronek was a Jew, just like almost everyone else put in camp with him. Bronek was from Poland, just like most of his fellow inmates. But one thing that made him different and was the reason he survived was that he was a dentist. Reason being is because they showed just how bad off the Jews were. The first sentence that I read and thought a lot about was, Look at you. You look like a Mussulman. You are in no shape to be a dentist. This quote was one of the most important quotes to me because it meant that Bronek was so skinny and dirty, he looked dead. A mussulman was what they called the prisoners that were about to die and you could tell. Another quote that stuck out to me was, Although minorities were treated fairly, Jews were made an exception. In the late 1930 s in Poland, those who had previously sat on the fence joined Hitler in the Nazi s racial policy. Even though we were born there, we were considered foreigners. This quote may not seem like it means much, but it really did to me. This quote meant a lot to me because even though they had been born and raised in Poland, they were not really accepted and were treated like an unknown race. One more quote that stood out to me was, I left with a heavy heart full of painful memories. I had revisited a nightmare. This quote was important to me because it tells how it was still depressing and sad to visit the old site where he had been held prisoner. This shows just how bad they were

Besides that, there is a photograph, which also talks about the Chicanomovement, and it named The National Chicano Moratorium Protest/March was held on August 29, 1970. Both the poem and the photograph spoke of the struggles that the Chicano people had faced in fighting to achieve the economic justice and equal right in the United States. As we know, Mexican Americans had been oppressed for years in the United States. We can say that they were sometimes treated worse than African Americans. According to the textbook, the Mexican American Political Association (MAPA) formed in 1959, but there were a few memberships. Besides that, many MAPA members were active in the liberal California Democratic Council (CDC), which supported the Civil Rights movement and promoted representation for African Americans but ignored Mexicans (Acuna 300). Recognizing that, Gonzales wrote the poem I Am Joaquin, which spoke of the oppression of Mexican Americans to reach out to Chicano youth fighting to get the cultural security and the political and economic justice. The poem was appreciated because it provided the revolutionary movement with a brief statement of Chicano nationalism and ideology. Similar to the poem, the photograph had outlined the Chicano people s political ideology. They wanted to live in the peaceful, non violent, and they wanted to fight for civil rights and to end the war. In order to promote the Chicano movement, Chicano people had given out many strategies. By 1967, more students of Mexican entered into the colleges. They formed the Mexican American Student Association (MASA) and on May 13, 1967, Chicano students met at Loyola University (Los Angeles) and founded the United Mexican American Students (UMAS) (Acuna 309). The organizations mainly gained the rights for Chicano people about the public education, Mexican American studies programs, antiwar, and labor movements. For these classes of which have been an inspiration to many artists to be let go, the school must undergo budget cuts. Negatively affecting the learning environment, budget cuts have been public enemy number one in schools worldwide. Due to these cuts teachers get laid off and those students who were in that class go on to other classes, essentially, doubling the original class size. However, what do we do about those who seem to enjoy the arts provided by their school? Let alone, those who have become inspired and envision becoming world renown someday? There is the romantic sublime, the gothic sublime, the technological sublime, and the apocalyptic sublime. When looking at the romantic sublime and the gothic sublime, it is comparative that the romantic sublime focuses on nature with lighter colors and charming tones that represent the vastness of space, while the gothic sublime focuses on the darker side of nature and the infiniteness. The Romantic and Gothic Sublime paints infiniteness as an unimaginable emptiness that is most unsettling. This idea of emptiness is pervasive. The Pullman Strike strike was named after George Pullman. George Pullman was a man who became rich off of his manufacturing of sleeper and luxury railcars (Lawrence). Pullman was so successful that he had a city named after him, which he owned. In the panic of 1893, Pullman s revenue dropped because of the lessened demand for his cars (McNamara). Because of this drop in revenue, Pullman cut the wages of his workers, but kept the rent the same. Worker s became outraged because they couldn t afford these changes. Pullman refused to negotiate with his workers, which caused the American Railway Union, lead by Eugene Debs, to take action (McNamara). • 31. Examples Of A Forced Oscillator The steam engine is a perfect example of a forced oscillator as the piston oscillates back and forth. The steam engine is a forced oscillator as it is a heavily dampened system that has a force to counter the resistance and keep the piston moving at a constant oscillation until the force is removed from the system. Due to the steam engine being quite heavily damped this oscillator will just simply stop without a force to compensate for the resistance within this system. But this force also has to be applied at the perfect time as it will have no or little affect if it is applied at the wrong time so timing has to be taken into account and the size of the force also has to be just enough to overcome the resistance to either accelerate the piston or to keep it a constant velocity. The force though has to be equal to resistance to keep the piston moving at a constant velocity and to increase the velocity of the piston the force will have to be greater than the resistance in the system, but to decrease the velocity of the piston the force will have to be less than the resistance in the system. ... How did the three men escaped? Frank used a clay head to put in his bed while escaping so when the guards looked at his cell they saw his (fake) head. They used spoons to dig a tunnel that took over a year. The tunnel that they dug brought them to an unused corridor. West could not make it out of his cell and was left behind. From the service corridor they climbed a ventilation shaft to reach the roof. Where did the trio end up? The next morning it was discovered that the trio escaped. At first it was thought that the escapees had been decapitated. Police searched for the escapees on Alcatraz and Angel Island without success. Remnants of the raft, paddles and a bag containing the Anglins personal effects were found on Angel Island. This timeless and provocative dance was the product of Gypsy Rose Lee, but by no means should one refer to her as a stripper . Doing so would be a great injustice to this iconic figure; it would be sacrilegious. Gypsy, born Rose Louise Hovick, brought more than sensual allure to the stage; Gypsy was intelligent, funny, and witty. An example of her immense wit and improve skills can be seen in how the stripteasecame into being. When the strap to Gypsy s costume came undone during a performance, rather than run off stage in embarrassment, Gypsy noticed the positive audience reaction, causing her to implement the act into the focus of her performance. Although many dancers (sometimes referred to as strippers ) of Gypsy Rose Lees era attempted various gimmicks to stand out and make a name for themselves, no one could quite compare to the charisma and character that illuminated the stage of Gypsy Rose Lee. One major conclusion that can be drawn from the abuse that illegal immigrants face on a social level could be related to the notion of how they are treated and regarded in legally standings.
