Air pollution is a major public health issue that causes millions of premature deaths annually. In Chennai, India, with a population of over 8 million people, there are only 3 government air quality monitors, providing insufficient data on pollution levels. Hospitals and healthcare facilities have an important role to play in addressing air pollution through education, advocacy, and monitoring of local air quality near their facilities, as demonstrated by a case study of the Huma Lung Foundation in Chennai. The Foundation installed air quality monitors at their hospital to obtain better data and raise awareness of this important issue among patients, staff, and the public.

An expert on public health, Oscar Alleyne, spoke to over 80 students and faculty at the University about responding to the Zika virus from an epidemiologist's perspective. Alleyne stressed the importance of communication among public health officials to effectively combat diseases like Zika. He discussed how poor communication and leadership have made it difficult to respond to Zika, and that local health departments need more funding, personnel, and training in skills like leadership and media relations to handle disease epidemics. A professor said it was helpful for students to see how classroom theories can apply to real-world public health issues.

Farmers bear much of the burden for growing the food to feed billions of people as the world's population continually trends upward.
But to do so, those farmers have to keep crops healthy and high-yielding. That necessitates using fertilizers and pesticides, which help crops but can have an inadvertent, negative impact on the environment.
Pollinators can be harmed. Waterways can become infiltrated with nutrient loads, killing aquatic life. Atmospheric greenhouse gases that cause climate change are increased.

A Study to Assess the Effectiveness of Planned Teaching Programme on Environm...
Background Environmental health the branch of public health concerned with monitoring or mitigating those factors in the environment that affect human health and disease. Or other words the condition of the environment in a particular region, especially as regards ecological diversity or pollution. Objectives The aim of this study was to assess effectiveness of planned teaching programme on environmental health among the community people. Methodology The research approach adopted for this study is a Quantitative research approach. The research design was pre test and post test design. The pilot study was conducted at Rural Area Gandhi Nagar Bhopal. A Convenient sampling technique was used. Structured knowledge questionnaire was used to assessing the environmental Health. The final study was conducted with 50 sample in schools was given followed by post test after 7 days using the same pre test tools. The data collected was analyzed using inferential statistics. Results Indicated overall pre test and post test mean knowledge scores on environmental health. Depicted mean post test score 24.95 is higher than mean pre test score of 16.825. The actual gain knowledge score is 8.125 and post test SD =3.25, pre test SD=4.50 and computed paired t test 9.3235 p= 2.04 at the level of 0.05. Thus, data showed higher than the tabled value t test = 2.18 at the level of 0.05 thus indicated significant difference and effectiveness of planned teaching program, in increasing the knowledge of Community people regarding environmental health. The computed ”˜t’ value t=9.3235 was higher than the table value t=2.04 at 0.05 level of significance. Hence, the research hypothesis H1 was accepted. Conclusion The study concluded that planned teaching program was effective in increasing the knowledge score of Community people regarding environmental health. Quasi experimental one group pretest and posttest design was used. Non. probability convenient sampling technique was adopted . the result findings shows that pre test mean score of environmental health was 11.3 with SD of 3.85 and the post test mean score was 23. 9with SD of 1.19. Health problems in India
India faces several major health issues that affect its entire population. Communicable diseases like malaria, tuberculosis, diarrheal diseases, acute respiratory infections, leprosy, and filariasis remain significant problems. Non-communicable diseases such as cancer, cardiovascular disease, and diabetes are also increasing. Nutritional deficiencies including anemia, low birth weight, and iodine deficiency disorders are widespread public health issues. Environmental sanitation problems related to water supply and waste disposal are compounded by rapid urbanization and industrialization. There is an inequitable distribution of healthcare resources between urban and rural areas. Population growth further exacerbates these health challenges.

The proposed federal budget would significantly cut funding to major public health agencies and programs like the CDC, NIH, Medicaid, and EPA. The CDC budget would be cut by 17% which a former CDC director said would force them to fight epidemics and health threats with both hands tied behind their back while wearing a blindfold. The budget also cuts Medicaid by $800 billion over 10 years which could impact access to care. Several state marketplaces also proposed substantial premium increases for plans purchased under the Affordable Care Act.

opportunities that are of high quality and truly inclusive.

Making this transition would allow the health sector to once again prioritize healing.

GGHH is a project of Health Care Without Harm that aims to reduce the environmental footprint of the health sector. The health sector accounts for 3-5% of annual carbon emissions in countries like China, India, Indonesia, and Thailand. Approximately 66% of healthcare facilities in Southeast Asia lack adequate healthcare waste disposal. GGHH addresses this issue through its Green Health Challenges initiative, which provides targets and indicators for healthcare organizations to measurably reduce their environmental impact in areas like energy use, climate resilience, and waste management.
WORKSHOP 3: Esperanza Cabral_leadership_2017

It focuses on leadership as the first goal, explaining that environmental health is a strategic priority that hospitals should advocate for through communication, policy, and research. Cell Therapy Expansion and Challenges in Autoimmune Disease
There is increasing confidence that cell therapies will soon play a role in the treatment of autoimmune disorders, but the extent of this impact remains to be seen. Early readouts on autologous CAR-Ts in lupus are encouraging, but manufacturing and cost limitations are likely to restrict access to highly refractory patients. Allogeneic CAR-Ts have the potential to broaden access to earlier lines of treatment due to their inherent cost benefits, however they will need to demonstrate comparable or improved efficacy to established modalities.
In addition to infrastructure and capacity constraints, CAR-Ts face a very different risk-benefit dynamic in autoimmune compared to oncology, highlighting the need for tolerable therapies with low adverse event risk. CAR-NK and Treg-based therapies are also being developed in certain autoimmune disorders and may demonstrate favorable safety profiles. Several novel non-cell therapies such as bispecific antibodies, nanobodies, and RNAi drugs, may also offer future alternative competitive solutions with variable value propositions.
Widespread adoption of cell therapies will not only require strong efficacy and safety data, but also adapted pricing and access strategies. At oncology-based price points, CAR-Ts are unlikely to achieve broad market access in autoimmune disorders, with eligible patient populations that are potentially orders of magnitude greater than the number of currently addressable cancer patients. Developers have made strides towards reducing cell therapy COGS while improving manufacturing efficiency, but payors will inevitably restrict access until more sustainable pricing is achieved.
Despite these headwinds, industry leaders and investors remain confident that cell therapies are poised to address significant unmet need in patients suffering from autoimmune disorders. However, the extent of this impact on the treatment landscape remains to be seen, as the industry rapidly approaches an inflection point.
