This document outlines the requirements for a unit assessment project on human-environment interactions. Students must choose one of four topics: deforestation, pollution, fossil fuels vs. renewable energy, or global warming/climate change. The presentation must include a description of the topic, how it relates to human dependence on the environment, three examples of the topic with impacts and sources cited. Optionally, students can take on a challenge by additionally covering a natural disaster linked to human environmental impact, such as hurricanes, floods or wildfires. They must describe the disaster and how it has increased due to human activity.

Everyone read the original peer reviewed article:
Widespread Biological Response to Rapid Warming on the Antarctic Peninsula
In addition choose one or more of the following news articles to read:
Forbes
National Geographic
CNN
Washington Post
Australian Broadcasting Corporation
Address the following questions:
Summarize the peer review article in your own words.
Compare the peer review article to one (or more) of the news articles. In particular discuss what ideas were the main focus of each and the predictions each made.
Did you note any biases in either source?
Which source did you prefer and why?
Comment on

Presentation on Threats to the Global Environment
Overview
Congratulations! The members of the United Nations found great value in the two analyses you provided. They are now asking you to develop a PowerPoint presentation that addresses four of the most critical threats to the global environment. Critical threats include:
Energy sources.
Globalization.
Lack of educational opportunities.
Inappropriate use of technology.
Civil war.
Poor health of entire population.
Cultural taboos.
Climate change.
Instructions
Step I. Narrow the List from Eight to the Four Most Critical Threats
To complete this step, complete the following tasks in order:
Review research on each of the eight threats.
Determine what you believe to be the current and potential future impacts of each threat on the global environment.
Choose the four threats that you see as the most critical by considering which pose the greatest or most immediate risk.
Step II. Create the PowerPoint Presentation
The completed version of this presentation will include a minimum of 16 slides. Your audience consists of the United Nations General Assembly.
PPT Content and Structure
Title Slide:
Include your name, course title, current date, and the name of your instructor.
Introduction Slide:
List the four threats you chose, and in the Notes section offer a brief narrative justifying these choices
Body Slides:
The slide content is listed in the outline below. For each body slide you develop, please include a paragraph in the Notes section explaining how the details you have provided in the slide are pertinent to the United Nations’ discussion on selecting and prioritizing goals.
For your first threat (this is the threat you consider to be the greatest risk/highest priority):
One slide on a brief history and assessment of the threat.
One slide on the countries most affected by the threat, and how those countries are affected (please give examples).
One slide on the effects of this threat on the world population as a whole.
One slide including a chart, graph, or compelling visual that relates to the content you present in body slides a–c.
For your second threat (this is the threat you consider to be the second greatest risk/second highest priority):
One slide on a brief history and assessment of the threat.
One slide on the countries most affected by the threat, and how those countries are affected (please give examples).
One slide on the effects of this threat on the world population as a whole.
One slide including a chart, graph, or compelling visual that relates to the content you present in body slides a–c.
For your third threat (this is the threat you consider to be the third greatest threat/highest priority):
One slide on a brief history and assessment of the threat.
One slide on the countries most affected by the threat, and how.
Utilizing information that is currently in the news, presentation will explore project-based/ problem-based learning by focus on the renewable energy questions, along with the recent coal ash problem facing our communities, which are impactful and relevant to our students and our future. We will investigate this topic through live interactive technology integration, discussion, writing, and hand-on exploration via group collaboration and individual learning.
Assignment 1 Population Health and the EnvironmentYou are a hea.docxBenitoSumpter862
Assignment 1: Population Health and the Environment
You are a healthcare professional who has researched the effects of environmental factors on population health. Because of your expertise in this field, you are presenting your findings at a global conference on environmental health issues. To prepare for this event, you have started to gather research and document the key issues you plan to present at the conference.
Write a five (5) page paper in which you:
Examine the four (4) principal methods of science and research used in the study of environmental health. Provide a specific example of how each method is used to increase awareness and understanding of how exposure to hazards in the environment affects the health status of the community.
Compare three (3) ways scientists and researchers evaluate the level of the danger environmental hazards have on population health. Using these methods, create a detailed outline of how they could be used to determine the level of risk to a community that has been exposed to an environmental hazard. Support your recommendation.
Analyze the various health risks found in the natural environment. Provide an example of three (3) specific dangers to the health of humans found in their everyday surroundings. Justify your response.
Evaluate the role of U.S. government agencies in managing the incidence of infectious disease. Determine one (1) environmental hazard that you think represents a significant challenge for these agencies in preventing a serious health risk to the population. Provide a specific example to support your analysis.
Use at least three (3) quality academic resources in this assignment.
Note:
Wikipedia does not qualify as an academic resource.
Format your assignment according to the following formatting requirements:
Typed, double spaced, using Times New Roman font (size 12), with one-inch margins on all sides.
Include a cover page containing the title of the assignment, the student’s name, the professor’s name, the course title, and the date. The cover page is not included in the required page length.
Include a reference page. Citations and references must follow APA format. The reference page is not included in the required page length.

Embracing GenAI - A Strategic ImperativePeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.
