Work is defined as force acting on an object that displaces it at the point of application of the force. The SI unit for work is the joule. Examples of work include dropping a ball from height, where the work done is equal to the ball's weight multiplied by the distance fallen. Another example is lifting an object vertically, where work is done against gravity. Work can be calculated using the equation Work = Force x Displacement.
