 Mass media includes any medium or media that is exposed to masses.
Masses refers to large number of people crowded together. Mass media
includes TV, radio, newspapers, magazines, outdoor hoardings, cinema and
so on.
It is also responsible for women related issues, including the highlighting of
crime and violence (force intended to hurt someone or to damage) against
women.

 Mass media makes women aware of their rights such as,
 Women have a right against domestic violence
 Women have the right to register virtual complaints
 Women have right not to be arrested at night and so on
 the media especially the press media undertake social awareness campaigns

• Anti dowry campaign.
• Maternal and child care campaign.
• Some special occasions such as women’s day and mother’s day also
highlights the importance of a woman in the family.

 Mass media promotes the advertisements that is unethical and shows the
poor taste of women for eg. Men perfumes ad., etc.
 Musics also deprive women image. Listeners are often absorbing messages
exploiting women without it being obvious. There are multiple online articles
that seek to identify songs that have misogynistic(strongly prejudice against
women) undertones woven throughout them.
 Modeling too, promotes Negative effect of media on girls. According to
model, Sarah Ziff, stories are told in the industry about models being
sexually assaulted. Pornography, social media, video games, music videos
are a big part of depiction of women. However, in such cases, one cannot
blame just the media; it is the women folk who pose for cheap publicity are
to be equally blamed.

9.  Many TV programs and serials represent women related violence, such as
abduction, despoilment, kidnapping and rape. At times, too much focus is
given on male chauvinism(exaggeration or aggressive patriotism).
 This overexposure of such programs corrupts the minds of youngsters and
innovate bad ideas/ thoughts for crimes against women.
 Mass media must make efforts to minimize such programs and serials if they
can not reject them.
