2. Voting Rights Women received the right to vote in 1920 after all the work they put in through the suffrage. The 19th amendment gave them the right to vote; it was ratified on August 26, 1920.
3. Flappers After the war ended in November 11, 1918 a new woman was born, the flapper. The flapper first came in Great Britain after the war had ended. The care free woman of the 1920’s then carried over to the US. A flapper wore dark makeup, knee length skirts, bobbed hair, and they smoked and drank in public.
4. The equal rights Amendment The equal rights amendment was first introduced to congress in 1923. It states, “Men and women shall have equal rights throughout the United States and every place subject to its jurisdiction.”

6. Education Women used to be just for cleaning and house work. In 1928 about 39 percent of college degrees in the United states were given to women wishing to get an education; at the beginning of the century only 19 percent of college degrees were earned by women. This means that in less than a decade it increased 20 percent.
