Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. Caden Sherrard- Code name: Ripper Costume Piece Description The character will be wearing this top to blend in to the night club that the kingpin owns so that they wont be spotted whilst trying to assassinate him. The audience can relate to this as most teenagers will wear a t shirt for casual wear as apposed to a suite and tie. The t shirt will be worn as normal without rips or blood to imply that the character is not guilty of the murder. The jeans’ purpose of being worn is because jeans are one of the few things that are allowed to be worn in a night club. They are also relatable to the audience as teenagers wear jeans as casual wear. Again the jeans will not be ripped or covered in blood to imply that the character is clean from the crime. I have chosen the character to wear pumps because night clubs are very strict that no trainers can be worn, therefore this is relatable to the audience as most teenagers wear either vans or converse stereotypically, and since converse are predominantly trainers vans are the best option. The shoes will be slightly dirty because the rendezvous point is in the middle of a valley. This is stereotypical footwear in a club.

Mackenzie Kidwai- Code name: Manson Costume piece Description The character will be wearing this Ralph Lauren polo shirt because most men at a club wear expensive branded clothing as well as polo’s as they are a smart/casual look. This is relatable to the audience because this is a look that the target audience (teenagers) will admire. The polo shirt will be worn as normal without any rips or blood stains to imply this character hasn’t had any involvement in the assassination of the partner in crime. Black jeans are worn because jeans are one of the few pants that are allowed in clubs due to their strict dress code. Black jeans are a popular colour for teenagers which makes the costume relatable to the audience which is 15 years and over. Black pumps are used because trainers are not allowed in clubs and the goal is to blend in to the club for this character, therefore the character follows the dress code to avoid being recognised. This is also relatable to the audience as the shoes are superdry which is a popular brand for teenagers to wear.
- 4. Costume piece Description Josh will be wearing a plain coloured shirt to blend into the crowd he was previously in before what my opening sequence shows. The shirt will still be worn as normal with no rips or marks on it to imply his innocence. Jeans are a relatable item of clothing to the audience especially blue jeans as this is the classic denim look that most of the target audience will be wearing. They are also allowed to be worn in night clubs which is where the characters have just come from so this keeps consistency in the story. They will be worn as normal without rips or marks. Converse pumps are a popular brand and style of shoe for my target audience to wear, therefore his costume will be relatable to the audience.
