WIL programmes should employ technology in delivering knowledge and skills at a distance. Technology promises to expand the range of authentic learning experiences exponentially. Technology presents the opportunity to employ powerful cognitive tools that can be used by students in authentic learning. Asynchronous and synchronous communication and social networking tools for the support of teamwork, including collaboration, resource sharing, and knowledge construction. Virtual environments, and feedback mechanisms that capture information about student performance and help students transfer their learning to new situations.
