1) Recent trends show an increase in unintended and unwanted childbearing in the US, disproportionately impacting young, unmarried, and disadvantaged women. 2) Between 1995-2002, the proportion of births identified as unwanted increased across most age and relationship groups due to rising unwanted birth rates. 3) For white women specifically, nearly half the increase in unwanted births was driven by rising rates among both single and married women.
