Lions are the
biggest cats
in the world.
•    Lions are orange
                    •   and brown. They have
                    •   got long sharp teeth..


Lions have got
strong jaws and
powerful legs.
Male lions have
got manes. Female
lions haven’t got
manes.
Lions are excellent swimmers.
Most lions live in a group
     called a pride.
A female
lion is
called a
lioness.
Lionesses are
 better hunters
than males and
do most of the
  hunting for a
     pride.
Lions usually feed on animals like zebras,
giraffes, rhinos, hippos. Sometimes they
eat smaller animals like hares and birds.
A baby lion is called a cub   .
• For the first three months the cubs drink
  milk from their mother and later, they
  move on to meat of other animals.
A lion in the wild can live up to 14 years but in
       a zoo they can live up to 20 years.
Lions show their affection by rubbing
their heads against another’s head, face
                or neck.
