Mrs. Dalloway, By Virginia Woolf
During World War One, many societal norms were disrupted and thrown aside. Everything was
displaced, including gender roles. With people dying in trenches everyday, a woman s place in the
kitchen became a secondary concern. World War One was a time of progressive change however,
this change was only temporary. Both One of Ours, written by Willa Cather, and Mrs. Dalloway,
written by Virginia Woolf, take place during this era. Despite being set during a time of supposed
progress for women s rights, the roles that women are expected to fulfill in these texts are still
oppressive.Examining these novels, it becomes apparent that the roles of women did not change
as a result of the war. In fact, Enid, in One of Ours, and Mrs. Dalloway, in Mrs.... Show more

The men returned home and soon returned to their original jobs. Marsha Gordon further writes,
Once again using the ploys of patriotism, women were expected to return to pre war standards for
women s labour without questioning the patriarchal ideology behind this assumption (85). The
progress of women s rights ended abruptly when the soldiers came back to resume their old lives.
Progressively, the main thing to come out of World War One for women was the passing of the
19th Amendment in 1920, three years after World War One (Hughes, 1). It wasn t until World War
Two that women s roles truly became redefined.
In the novel One of Ours, Enid Wheeler is a headstrong and determined character, going against
women s traditional roles during the early 1900s. Early on in One of Ours, Enid shows that she
does not uphold the traditional values forced on many women. For instance, when a
thunderstorm appears while Enid and Claude are driving, Claude stops, wanting to wait out the
storm. Enid takes the driver s seat from Claude and maneuvers them through the storm (111 114).
Enid is not afraid to step up and assume a position of authority. Critic Ryan M., writer of No
Woman s Land: Gender in Willa Cather s One of Ours, writes that Enid assumes the active male
role, intruding herself into his sickroom, courting him with flowers, beating him at chess (page ?).
By actively seeking Claude out, whether as a friend or for romantic interest, Enid is

What Is Hockey In Latin America
Hockey in Latin America; the two concepts are not usually associated with each other, but
hockey is a somewhat popular sport with local children and families. Hockey is not a recent
addition to the sports industry in Latin America. While Latin America is not a region well
known for its hockey games, hockey is a sport that is gaining popularity with local families and
children. The Falkland Islands, with a population of 2932 people according to the Hockey
House in 2015, is the smallest hockey nation in the world. In a country lacking even one ice rink
to practice on, the Falkland Islands hockey team has made history by winning their first game to
ever play despite never playing or practicing on the ice before. The Falkland Islands plans on
sending some players to Chile twice a year to practice hockey in an arena until the Falkland
Islands are able to build an ice rink. Unlike the Falkland Islands, which lacks an ice rink and is
somewhat new to the sport, the Puerto Rican Ice HockeyFederation was founded in 2004, but
hockey has been in the country for a few more years than that. Around 40 years ago, Puerto Rico
had an ice rink known as the Reina de Heilo in San Juan. Unfortunately, the Reina de Heilo shut
down in 1978, but the country of Puerto Rico was... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

hockey become a known sport in Costa Rica by making a plastic, makeshift hockey rink in the

pucks would sometimes fly off into the food court while people were eating, he told the Tico

Bruce Callow was a major help in Costa Rica; he started hockey programs on synthetic ice in an

Raymond Arsenault s Freedom Riders
The up to date dying of Rosa Parks refocused countrywide attention on one of the crucial beloved
figures of the civil rights movement. However without the heroism of hundreds of unsung grass
roots activists, the action would not ever have complete what it did. In Freedom Riders, Raymond
Arsenault, a professor of history at the university of South Florida, rescues from obscurity the guys
and women who, at high quality individual threat, rode public buses into the South as a way to
venture segregation in interstate travel. Drawing on individual papers, F.B.I. Documents and
interviews with more than 200 contributors within the rides, Arsenault brings vividly to life a
defining moment in modern American history. Freedom Riders starts not on

Essay about The Central Part of Berkeley s Metaphysics
The Central Part of Berkeley s Metaphysics
The central part of Berkeley s metaphysics seems paradoxical or even absurd. Its claim is that
what we call solid, and indeed everything else that we find laid out in the three dimensional
physical word that is apparently around us, is only fictional. It appears to be there, but it does not
really have an independent existence. The physical world is, according to Berkeley, dependent on
and only perceived through a mental state. In Three Dialogues Between Hylas and Philonous,
Berkeley tried to explain how a seemingly noncommonsensical theory can actually consist of
commonsensical characteristics. There are two contentions made by Berkeley in his attempt to
prove that commonsense is the basis ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hence, none or these qualities exist outside the mind because we all see things differently. It is
impossible, therefore, that matter be something existing in itself, objective, inert, and devoid of
thought. According to Berkeley, when we say that a thing exists, we mean nothing more than
that such a thing is merely perceived by us. Berkeley stated, To be is to be perceived. Berkeley s
answer to the philosophical question, if there is no one in the forest when a tree falls, is there a
sound, would be no because the forest cannot exist without a perceiver. Primary or secondary
qualities, substances and impressions are nothing other than acts of perception, that is, mental
facts; and their existence signifies their being perceived as mental acts. If I walk into a room
containing a table, the table exists. However, when I leave the room, the table no longer exists.
The Paradoxical problem arises when one asks, how is it then that when I return to the room, the
table is still there? While denying the existence of a material world, Berkeley did not deny the
existence of the world of spirits/minds. He believed that from the very presence of ideas and
impressions, there had to existence finite spirits/minds, and because there had to be an origin of
these ideas/impression, there had to exist a finite spirit/mind. Finite spirits/minds refers to humans
and the Infinite Spirit/Mind refers to God. Now

Younger Dryas Impact Hypothesis
Younger Dryas Climate Event
Occurring about 12,800 years ago, The Younger Dryas Climate Event was an abrupt climate change
that dropped the Earth temperature by about 10 degrees, bringing dry winds ( Abrupt Climate
Change , 2003). This event followed a warming trend that had resulted in glacier melting. As the
melting water filtered down the Mississippi and into the Gulf of Mexico, its route suddenly
diverted, carrying the water east into the Atlantic Ocean. This change in the water path disrupted
both the salinity and the flow in the ocean system, thus changing the climate of the Northern region.
Unfortunately, 30 species of animals became extinct as a result of the changes, and nearly 80
percent of North America s large animals disappeared (video). Ending abruptly, the Younger Dryas

Although no debate exists regarding whether this event occurred, several theories have been created
explaining the reason why it occurred. One such theory is the Younger Dryas Impact Hypothesis,
also known as the Clovis Comet Hypothesis, which proposes that a comet or asteroid hit North
America, killing off many animals and human instantly, and non adapting species were also
eradicated due to starvation (video). One critique of this hypothesis is that no crater has been found
on Earth s surface; however, it is likely that the comet hit the glacier, which ultimately melted and
left no physical sign. Another hypothesis depends on the idea of a thermohaline circulation
shutdown due to the changes in ocean circulation ( Abrupt Climate Change , 2003). A problem with
this hypothesis, however, is that another glacier melting event occurred following the Younger
Dryas, and it did not create a massive climate change. Another theory states that the climate change
was brought on by Earth s orbital changes, but much more information is needed regarding this

Teen Suicidal Behavior in our Society
To live is a very fragile and misunderstood term. Countless lives are taken unwillingly each day by
mere accidents, while others are lost fighting to defend their countries beliefs. Some of these lives
grow old, and some do not, but many are not being lived in the way they were intended.
Somewhere along the lines in our society, people have the idea that their own life might not be
worth living. Ending their life is called suicide, and it is becoming more and more popular among
teenagers in this generation. For people between the ages of fifteen and twenty four, suicide is the
third leading cause of death, only behind accidents and homicides (New, 2012). It was recorded in
1996, that more teenagers and young adults committed... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is where the school needs to step in and have a greater crack down of the nationwide
epidemic of bullying. Research suggests preventing teenage suicides through better school based
support systems is key, which all starts with preventing bullying (Fisher, 2006). Aside from
religious beliefs, homosexual teens undergo an abnormal amount of stress. From being confused
about their feelings to being worried about how they will be accepted, these teens have enough
on their plate. When homosexual teens get bullied at school for their different views, classmates
rude comments may be enough to send them over their stress limit. Thirty percent of teen
suicides annually are from teenagers who have come out as being homosexual (Woodward,
2005). There is much controversy over the topic of homosexuality, especially when people bring
the matter of religion into the equation. Individuals who are against this choice in life say that the
thirty percent statistic is flawed because it was calculated by a man who was a known
homosexual. They believe that homosexuals should not be looked upon as mentors in schools to
help struggling children, but rather be kept away from them. Controversy aside, it all comes down
to saving lives. Whether people agree with how they live or not does not matter, but their souls do.
No one should be made to feel so insignificant that they would

It was the time when I was working for Elle Magazine and I was asked to do a story on Changing
Gay Scene in India . It triggered an unsettling feeling in me that why am I asked to do this in
particular. I had a persecution complex and simply denied being gay. I kind of always knew but
it was more about articulation than discovery. It was in my early 20 s when I came out to my
mom. Well I must say that I kind of felt cheated as I didn t get the usual unaccepting reaction
from her, while I was all prepared for tears drama. She found it quite normal and has always been

The Transition From Art Nouveau To Art Deco
English Decorative Arts: The Transition from Art Nouveau to Art Deco
Parallels can be seen running throughout the two movements and the following essay highlights the
similarities and differences within the two styles and the causes of the fall from one and the rise of
the other.
Art Nouveau was likewise strongly influenced by the Pre Raphaelite movement which contained
prominent artists such as Edward Burne Jones and John William Waterhouse (Meagher, 2017).
This romantic style exhibited a return to nature; common themes were leaves, flowers, tendrils,
and insects. Whiplash curves and flowing lines were prominently featured. Art Nouveau
portrayals of women were erotic and sensual and many images depicted nudes and these images
were originally shocking to the public (Hoffman, 2017) . Artists preferred a pallet of natural
colours with soft muted tones of browns, olive greens, blues, and mustard yellow (Marinica,
2017). Advertisers procured these images and adopted the style to produce posters and newspaper
advertisements promoting a variety of goods. The Czech artist Alphonse Mucha produced works of
this type ( Alphonse Maria Mucha Complete Works 2017 , 2017).
Artisans of the Aesthetic movement advocated art for art s sake and created works purely for
beauty and never for function (Easby, 2017). James Abbot McNeil Whistler the artist who painted
Whistlers Mother, was associated with this genre ( James Abbott McNeill Whistler 1834 1903 |
Tate , 2017).

Cide In The Rocide Genocide
genocide the deliberate killing to eliminate of a group of people of the same race, religion or
ethnicity. This word is derived from a combination of a Greek word genos ( race or tribe ) and a
Latin word cide ( killing ). In 1994, in the beginning of April, the same has happened in Rwanda. A
genocide.
Before the colonial period in Rwanda, there were three classifications of people. Hutus, who made
up the majority of the population 84%, Tutsi who were only 17% and Twa who only made up 1%.
Hutus were from less privileged families and were cultivators, Tutsis were cattle herders and
from rich families, and Twa were potters and were outshined by the other groups (Stapleton 28).
However, these classifications were based on the number of cattle people owned. People who
owned 10 cows or more were considered Tutsi and people with less than 10 cows were considered
Hutu. People could shift from being a Hutu to a Tutsi or vice versa depending on the number of
cattle they had. Before colonization Tutsis and Hutus lived peacefully (Warren 19).
During the colonial period tensions from all corners, politically, educationally and socially were
created such that hatred and violence was harbored in Hutus and they decided to eliminate fellow
Rwandese, Tutsis. The existence of ethnicities itself did not lead to the Tutsi Genocide since they
existed even before the colonial era.
In 1914 after Germany lost all its colonies, Rwanda which was also one of Germany colonies was

Essay On Six Months To Break A Behavior
Some people say that it takes six months to break a habit. However, I personally think it requires
more of a mental change rather than just a physical change to break a behavior regardless if it s
six months or shorter. In this case, I had two weeks to change a behavior I did on a daily basis.
For this paper I worked on two things that I wanted to work on. First, It was not wearing makeup
for a week and second, I really wanted to subtract dairy products from my diet. After I give a
reflection of my experience, I will being to talk about my internship and how we encourage a
change behavior within our families. I wanted to focus eliminating dairy products in my daily
intake and find a substitute if possible. I didn t realize how much milk, cheese and eggs I ate
throughout the day until I had to find a habit to change. I would eat cereal in the morning
because it was the easiest breakfast, eggs for either breakfast or dinner and cheese with almost
everything I ate. At school, It seemed like I would gravite my way to dairy products naturally
like pizza, sandwiches, or coffee. Taking dairy products out of my diet has always been something
I wanted to try doing, but I never seemed to happened. Reason being, I believe dairy products
affect my digestive system and might be causing me to have acne more than usual(that s just my
theory). When I started, I substituted milk for Almond milk and didn t eat or buy anything made

Perotin Is Hailed As A Kind Of Mozart Of His Time
PГ©rotin is hailed as a sort of Mozart of his time. He was a scholarly musician and musical
innovator . PГ©rotin is called by many different names: Perotinus his Latin Name and Perotinus
Magnus PГ©rotin the Great ; and even optimus discantor , or great composer of discant.
According to Hussman, PГ©rotin was a court composer for Notre Dame, but his connection to
Notre Dame is not entirely confirmed. It is because of an account by the English traveler
Anonymous IV and letters to a Bishop that it is accepted that PГ©rotin was associated with Notre
Dame. Whether he wrote specifically for Notre Dame or not, PГ©rotin wrote magnificent music
that has been preserved for several centuries to this day .
The life of PГ©rotin is uncertain and full of speculation. Different scholars have very diverse
ideas of PГ©rotin s life. Tischler believed that PГ©rotin was born sometime between 1155 and
1160. He also stated that he was a pupil of Leonin, the composer of the Magnus liber. PГ©rotin is
believed to have to have been a better organum composer the Leonin himself and even revised the
Magnus liber at the end of the 12th century between 1180 and 1190 . In revising the Magnus liber,
PГ©rotin composed and inserted his own clausula and puncta, such as Alleluya Nativitas into the
Magnus liber. The works of PГ©rotin are known to be beautiful and thoughtfully voiced with
colorful textural harmonies. Sometime after revising the Magnus liber, PГ©rotin began composing
three voice organum. Later in his life,

Napoleon and Castro Helped to Change the World Into Which...
Politics shape the world we live in, and to change the world we live in requires a special people,

world they were born into and changed it dramatically, but how exactly did they go about doing

on a farm which his father led to success. Fidel was sent to a public school where he was

Workplace As Part Of Continuous Improvement
Many companies have chosen to follow the route towards a 5S workplace as part of continuous
improvement. This type of system allows a company to dispose and remove unnecessary items
properly, prevent the accumulation of these items, and help decipher if these are costs that need to
be rid of. Costs tend to pile up on businesses and companies in the form of wastes and defects.
Some situations that are an example of this are utilization suffering because item changeovers take
too long, product is rushed in because an important part cannot be found, and output not meeting its
full potential because of crew to crew variations (Bresko 2014). Many companies attempt to
advance through Six Sigma, Lean, or other initiatives. However, some studies have been reported
that two thirds of other initiatives fail to meet the expectations of the organization leaders
(Ghodrati and Zulkifli 2013). Learning about the certain methods of the different systems is not the
issue when putting these into play, but putting them into their daily organizational actions is.
Some of these situations where they fail to put these into play is process improvement,
continuous improvement, and the procedures of the initiatives not being long standing. The
process of 5S is a great way to add to culture change and to involve people. 5S is aimed to simplify
larger productivity, quality, and safety measures. It is also very visual in the aspects of

alliteration, and assonances. Without the use of these elements, the poem would not have been as
effective. One of the most prominent literary devices that Coleridge uses in The Rime of the
Ancient Marineris personification. On example of such personification would be in part one of the
poem. Coleridge says:
The sun came up upon the left,
Out of the sea came he!
And he shone bright, and on the right

By doing this, Coleridge develops the sun into a character of the story and it gives the readers a
more personal connection with it. It exemplifies its importance to both the mariner, and the story
in entirety. Another example of personification can be either seen as a realistic idea, or a
hallucination that the mariner views. Coleridge says The dead men stood together. All stood
together on the deck. This quote can be seen as the dead men are literally waking up, or that the
mariner is hallucinating from exhaustion and dehydration. Either way this quote gives a dead
person, living actions which results in a very descriptive

Alternative Sources Of Energy From Fossil Fuels
Each day, advancing technology requires a stable source of fuel to produce the thousands of
units of energy being consumed by it. At present, this energy is derived from various sources
with fossil fuels being the largest by far. According to the United States Energy Information
Administration, in 2014 sixty seven percent of the United State s energy was converted from
fossil fuels. ( What is U.S. Electricity Generation by Energy Source? ) Although fossil fuels are
able to meet rising energy demands, they are limited and toxic to this planet. For this reason, U.S.
officials have already begun to consider alternative sources of energy to break America s fossil fuel
addiction; namely, liquid fuels derived from various agricultural crops. However, using
agriculture in this way infringes upon the nation s food supply and the quantity of fuel produced
is unable to meet rising fuel demands. Due to this, a new, dedicated source of energy is needed.
One proposed source is microalgae, a microscopic plant life form that is neither a part of the food
supply, or a detriment to the environment. In addition, microalgae are able to produce copious
amounts of liquid fuel in comparison to currently used crops. America should invest in the
production of microalgae for bio fuel to solve issues caused by modern energy production
processes. In the past, there have been significant events that have led to increased awareness of
energy production and the way it affects the planet. James A.

Morality Is A Big Theme Throughout The Book Les Miserables
C project
Legality versus morality was a big theme throughout the book Les Miserables. Two of the main
main characters, Javert and Jean Valjean conflict on that issue many times. Jean Valjean is a man of
his morals rather than the law, whereas Javert is strictly about the law, and nothing else. Both of
these characters face many legal and moral issues throughout the book.
Jean Valjean looks into his morals when he is faced with a dilemma. The first time that this
becomes apparent is the beginning of the book, when we learn why he is in jail. Valjean was
faced with jail time because his family was struggling and starving and he thought is was morally
okay to steal bread for his family even though it was illegal. Valjean stealing the bread even
though it was illegal, but because his family needs it his morals say that it is okay for him to do
so, showing legality versus morality. Another thing that Valjean does that demonstrate this theme
is that when Javert tells Valjean(when he is mayor and going under the name of Madeleine) that
someone has been caught under his name. If he decides to do nothing he will then face no legal
troubles any more, but because of his morals he decides the right thing to do is to go to the court
where this trail is taking place, and say that he is the real Valjean. He think it is immoral to let this
man suffer for his actions, so he decides to reveal himself.
Javert is the opposite of Valjean, and relies heavily on the legality side. In the

This is just a brief summary of Nike s company s history. Nike Organizational Development
Structure Nike considers their structure a Matrix Organization (Nikebiz.com, 2010). This
structure allows Nike to deal with the fast moving market and keep their industry leading
position. It can be costly, but has proven to be well worth the money for Nike. All work is
collaborative; team members report to two areas; known as, geography and the global function
area (Nikebiz.com, 2010). People Suppliers/subcontractors that Nike does business with are
considered outsiders. In the past, when Nike has received criticism for running sweatshops their
first response was to deny that they ever knew this occurred. Their reason for this was because
they hired outside suppliers who ran the factories outside of the U.S. Nike has now learned from
bad publicity that the best way to handle this is to have insiders do audits of the factories
globally. With new audits in place it is less likely suppliers will mistreat workers because they
will fear losing their contract with Nike. Suppliers are also held to a higher standard now.
Suppliers/subcontractors are responsible to report any other suppliers who act unethically. Nike
learned that hiring outsiders can save money, but insiders have a better feel for respect for the
organizations values and culture. Outside people can affect the way customers perceive the
organization, and for this reason Nike is taking more precautions to

INTRODUCTION
HIV is one of the leading causes of illness in the United States. It is estimated that 1,148,200
individuals are living with HIV, with about 207,800 or 18% that are undiagnosed and 47,500
newly infected in 2010, in the United States (CDC, 2013). Although there is no cure, treatment is
available through antiviral medications, but access to healthcare is often a major pitfall. Many of
the behaviors that make individuals more vulnerable for HIV, such as IV drug use and illegal
prostitution, also increase an individual s vulnerability to be incarcerated. In 2010, there were
20,093 reported inmates with HIV/AIDS in custody in either state or federal prison (HIV in
Prisons, 2012). Although this number has decreased since the previous census count of 20,880
individuals imprisoned in either state or federal custody, this still does not take into account the
individuals that are released from prison and are required to seek a continuation of treatment on
their own. In 2012, the number of admissions to state and federal prison in the United States was
609,800 offenders. The number of releases from U.S. prisons in 2012 (637,400) exceeded that of

achieve their customer satisfaction targets and, consequently profitability. The paper considers the
determinants of employee satisfaction using an empirical approach and premising arguments on
extant literature. The focus on this paper is to explain the level of satisfaction among employees
with an aim of providing dynamic recommendations to improve the worker satisfaction in firms.
This will be achieved by examining published research and robust data obtained from interviews
related to employee satisfaction, customer retention, and corporate profitability. The paper

On the other hand, others posit that using an aggregated measure can cloud the actual causes of
satisfaction, leading to unsound generalisation of employee satisfaction (Rose, 2003). The
author further argues that proper aggregation of job satisfaction measures should ideally be
done through the use of a composite index that includes a wide range of indicators of job
satisfaction. However, in a later study, Rose (2005) also points to the significance of performing
a detailed analysis of job satisfaction. The former approach is preferred for this study as it is
follows closely on the work done by Brown et al. (2008). Job satisfaction is linked to the sense of
achievement with work; the level of a influence work; and with pay. These key facets of
satisfaction are discussed in our analysis and examined empirically. Also, achieving a fulfilling
employment and providing workers with adequate control and influence on their work are
significant for improving job satisfaction (Layard, 2005). The study is concerned with the effects
of HRM policies on the above measures of job satisfaction. The 2011 WERS dataset contains a
rich variety of variables measuring HRM policies and practices. While the issue of HRM
practices remains controversial in literature (see Hesketh Fleetwood, 2006), data on HRM is
useful and has been used in key studies. Variables provide in WERS largely capture formal HRM
practices such as work flexibility and compensation

Hugh Mackay said, Nothing is perfect. Life is messy. Relationships are complex. Outcomes are
uncertain. People are irrational. In The Storm by Katie Chopin, she develops a parallel between a
storm and an emotional storm in a woman s life. She used signs that described the feelings of a
relationship that are unpredictable like the storm. They both are married and according to the
incident that occurred, they may not be happy in their marriage. In A Sick Rose , by William Blake,
it talks about how dark secrets can destroy ones love life. Like when a rose does not get enough
water or sun, it dies. This poem can be interpreted in many ways based on the reader s interpretation.

Recent statistical records showed that the disease is widely spread around the world. Scientists
have conducted many researches in order to study the mode of inheritance of the disease as well

Osler contributed in spreading the awareness of the disorder throughout the medical community.
Another biologist, Cahrales Dvenport, who had his desire fueled by Jelliffe s research in the
disorder, provided outstanding contributions in exploring the disease. One of them is detecting the
mode of inheritance and the variability, such as the age of onset of the disease. The research
community has further investigated the disorder for decades. In 1983, the Venezuelan collaborative
research project estimated the location of the HD gene using genetic linkage analysis. It was the
first autosomal dominant gene to be discovered using this particular method and found that the
gene is situated at 4p16.3. In 1996, modeling the disease in transgenic mice opened the door to new

A Study On Big Five Factor Model
A study was conducted to test using the Big Five Factor Model (Costa McCrae, 1995) to measure
whether different personalities can or cannot be observed with a group of 1006 Inuit children from
Northern Canada who spoke the Inuktitut language between the ages of 9 to 12 year old who were
recruited for the study. The International Personality Item Pool (IPIP) measure scale was used and
the five item measure scales selected were: (Extraversion, Neuroticism, Openness, Agreeableness
Conscientiousness) , (Goldberg, 1999). The study produced results that Conscientiousness scored
the highest amongst the Inuitchildren more than expected. This could have been due to the
nurturing and parenting styles of the Inuit community. There is a need for further studies to be
conducted with the parents, caregivers, and educators of the Inuit children to confirm whether their
personality findings was correct. Extended research may have findings of significant differences
depending on the researchers, questionnaires and the interpretation of the data.

Types Of Alternate Dispute Resolutions
A traditional judicial process such as litigation is a settlement of an agreement between the parties
involved in a dispute that is heard and decided by the judge and a jury in court. Due to the rising
costs of litigation and time delays, businesspersons are turning to alternate dispute resolutions as a
way to come to an agreement. Many states and corporations have been experimenting with ADR
programs and have found it to be a great alternate. Three types of alternate dispute resolutions are
negotiation, mediation, and arbitration. Roger LeRoy Miller, author of Business Law Today stated
that, Today, more than 90 percent of cases are settled before trial through some form of ADR (84).
Each process is used differently amongst parties and each has its own benefits. Alternate dispute
resolutions tend to have lower costs and the process is much shorter. The use of alternate dispute
resolutions is growing at a fast rate because many businesses and corporations find it to be an easier
way to come to a settlement. Although alternate dispute resolutions have been recognized for their
advantages its still important not to overlook the disadvantages of each.
Generally, the simplest form of alternate dispute resolution is negotiation. Negotiation allows the
parties to meet informally with or without their attorney s present to settle their dispute. This
process does not require a neutral third party to be at the meeting because the parties reach a
resolution on their own terms.

Executive Compensation Structures And Fraud Research Paper
Introduction:
The past decade has been witness to some of the worst accounts of corporate fraud ever recorded,
with multi billion dollar companies such as Enron, Tyco, and World com involved in serious
financial scandals. CEOs and senior executives are often the driving force behind such
unscrupulous activities by adopting shady accounting practices and other forms of short termist
actions for the purpose of increasing their firm s stock price and their own personal wealth. The
following paper will investigate whether there is a link between executive compensation structures
and fraud or misreporting. Through the analysis of four academic articles, I will show that the
evidence which links compensation tools tied to stock market based ... Show more content on

In practice, the use of stock options in the corporate sector has increased to account for nearly
two thirds of total pay for CEOs in median firms, a figure that trumps 1984 estimates, where
stock options accounted for only 1% of total pay (Denis et al., 2006). So the question we must
ask is when we use stock option based incentives for executives, does the evidence warrant the
need for greater controls or regulation? Denis et al. (2006) briefly explores the idea of the need
for greater outside monitoring, and discusses how the dark side of stock incentive compensation
may require robust corporate governance structures to counter veil the negative effects. Erickson
et al. (2006) points out that regulators and policy makers are quick to link corporate fraud and
stock options. They (Erickson et al. 2006) state that the intent of their research was in part to
resolve the question as to whether there exists evidence that stock based compensation is tied to
accounting fraud. Since no evidence is found, the policy implications for greater controls are
limited. Burns et al. (2006) study has implications for the level of options and equity in CEO
remuneration contracts. Efendi et al. (2007) does not provide any policy recommendations, but do
call for further research

Research on the Communicative Skills of Dogs
We all learn from one another and wolves, like dogs, can learn from us as well. Dogs are more
skillful than great apes at a number of tasks in which they must read human communicative signals
like indicating the location of hidden food. However, the main objective of these studies was to
determine whether the skills that doghave today have arisen from the hundreds of years of
domestication and co evolution with humans, or if these were already in their genes from their wolf
ancestors (Bates 2013).
The modern wolf comes from a long history of canines, which have adapted to survive in many
different environments. They adapt their diet to the food that is available where younger wolves
watch and learn from the other members of the pack, a behavior commonly known as cultural
transmission. The alpha wolves order the others on where to go, when to hunt and where to make a
den. Wolves like dogs act upon orders.
Genetic and archaeological evidence shows that humans domesticated wolves on more than one
occasion. Domesticated wolves provided early humans with a guard animal, a source of food,
fur, and a beast of burden. The process continues to this day, with the intentional artificial
selection and crossbreeding of dogs to create new breeds. The objective of these studies was to
answer the question whether their roots were present before dogs became man s best friend or
not? Friederike Range and ZsГіfia VirГЎnyi of the Messerli Research Institute at the University of

Issues in Philippine Education
Issues in Philippine Education: In Retrospect
They say that education is the best social leveler. They say that it is the very answer to poverty,
corruption, hate, and ignorance. If it really is like many people believe it is, then the study of the
key educational, ergo curricular, issues in the Philippines is a significant endeavor that needs
serious pair of eyes, ears and hands.
According to the IBON Facts and Figures, the literacy rate in the Philippines has regressed a lot
over the last ten years. This is attributed to the dwindling quality, relevance and accessibility of
education the very basic rights of the Filipino youth as etched vividly in the Constitution.
Despite the good things that Department of Education has reported such as ... Show more content on

This way, people can understand the state of education more and eventually face and nip the
problems in the bud.
Curriculum managers and educational experts are always looking for better ways to achieve better
learning through teaching. However, since curriculum innovations seemed to be difficult for many,
issues and concerns have been raised about curricular innovations. The newness of the idea to the
users raises issues which need to be addressed. Certain aspects need to be clarified in order to
overcome the attitude and feelings that create some concerns.
Perter Oliva s Developing the Curriculum (Seventh Edition) reveals 12 curriculum issues. These are
1. Academic Area Initiatives, 2. Alternative Schools, 3. Bilingual/Bicultural Education, 4.
Censorship, 5. Gender, 6. Health Education, 7. Diversity, 8. Privatization, 9. Provision for
Exceptionalities, 10. Religion in Public Education, 11. Scheduling Arrangements, and 12. Standards
and Assessment
Clearly, there is no discrete separation in these twelve categories. On one sense, they are all
interrelated and bear close relationship with each other. Some items enumerated, however may not
be fit for the Filipino audience.
In the Curriculum Development book of Purita Bilbao et al., it enumerates a number of fitter and
more relevant Curricular Issues and Concerns. 1. Poor Academic

Tort Essay.
The but for test, although it often yields the right answer, does not always do so. Use the airline
case in the conclusion Causation has been subject to copious amounts of judicial and academic
debate over the last six decades. The trend being that but for causation is good as far as it goes,
but it does not go far enough and there is a need to modify its structure in cases that do not have a
simple yes or no answer to causation. This essay explores the development of the but for test s

Over the course of employment the respondent had been exposed to two sources of this dust; swing
grinders and pneumatic hammers, the latter being an innocent exposure and the former being
negligent. Due to uncertainty as to which exposure was the actual cause of the disease the normal
but for test would be unworkable. Lord Reid gave the leading judgement in the case and avoided
the issues of the but for test by creating the Wardlaw test of material contribution to injury
It appears to me that the source of his disease was the dust from both sources, and the real question
is whether the dust from the swing grinders materially contributed to the disease.
He went on to say:
A contribution which comes within the exception de minimis non curat lexis not material, but I
think that any contribution which does not fall within that exception must be material
From his lordships judgement it is clear that the claimant only has to demonstrate that the guilty
dust had made a material contribution to the disease, which they did.
The next case to discuss is McGhee v National Coal Board here the claimant developed dermatitis
while working in brick kilns and being exposed to dust and ash. There was medical evidence to
suggest that the risk of developing dermatitis would be materially reduced if the claimant had the
chance to shower, washing off the dust. This case is different to Wardlaw in the sense that the
negligence wasn t a cause in the same way

The Louisiana Purchase Essays
The Louisiana Purchase was done in the year 1803. In this purchase the United
States of America paid fifteen million dollars to get all the land west of the Mississippi
River and east of the Rocky Mountains. This transaction was done between Thomas
Jefferson and the great Napoleon. The benefits that the United States of America
experienced from this purchase were numerous. For one, it gave the U.S. complete
control of the Mississippi, which in tern helped many farmers with transporting
goods. Second, it more than doubled the size of the United States. With this huge
amounts of land, the government could set up more farms to feed the young but
growing nation. Despite these benefits, however, many people believe ... Show more content on

When the ambassadors have arrived in Paris, they quickly began to negotiate with
Napoleon and his advisors. Napoleon then offered the American ambassadors a deal of a
lifetime the whole Louisiana lands for only fifteen million dollars. Now why would
France want to sell all this land? For one, there was a civil war in the Island of Haiti.
There the slaves have revolted and won independence from France. Napoleon tried
hopelessly to get the Island of Haiti back under control, but it was to no avail. Without
control of Haiti the lands of Louisiana were useless to France, and thus Napoleon decided
to sell it to the Americans. Moreover, Napoleon was planning to conquer all of Europe,
this meant war with Great Britain. Since Napoleon knew that Britain would easily
gain France s overseas lands, he decided to sell them for fifteen million dollars. Robert
Livingston and James Monroe contacted Jefferson, who only wanted to get New Orleans,
for advice, and the final decision. Jefferson, seeing it as an opportunity, agreed to pay
fifteen million dollars to get all of the Louisiana lands. This land sale, probably the
largest in history, was negotiated early in 1803. (Curti 247).
Napoleon s offer to sell land pleased Jefferson, but it also troubled him, for he
believed that the Constitution did not allow him to buy huge amounts of land. This was

The Albanian Culture During The Ottoman Rule In Albania
Culture is what connects everyone to their roots and is what plays a great part of everyone s
personality. Every culture is unique and special in its own way. With this cultural project, I had an
opportunity to discover a different culture other than mine. I experienced the Albanian culture.
Albania is a small country in Southeastern Europe. Also, Albanians are the Balkan people who
settled in Albania and they call themselves ShqiptarГ« . In addition to Albanian culture, there are the
religions that have a great impact to their life. During the Ottoman rule in Albania, many Albanians
converted to Islam. However, Albanian Christians were not forced to convert so they just remained
Christian. On November 28th, 1912, Albania declared independence and was recognized as a
country. After this cultural experience and events that took place I was enlightened on the great
Albanian culture.
In order to discover the Albanian culture, my good friend Albi allowed me to come into his home
for dinner. Including Albi there were 6 people who were there to experience the culture.
Furthermore, it was very exciting to not only experience a new culture, it was exciting to do it with
friends. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The 1815 Eruption of Mount Tambora
Mount Tambora, located on the Island of Sumbawa, Indonesia is classified as a Stratovolcano.
Also known as a composite volcano, Tambora is a tall conical volcano (cone like structure)
where layers of the walls are built by hardened lava and volcanic ash. The term composite is used
to describe the volcano due to the composite layered structure built from sequential outpourings of
eruptive materials1. Among the most common types of volcanoes, Tambora also shares its
destructive prowess with best known volcanoes such as Krakota (1883) and Vesuvius (79 A.D).
The Island of Sumbawa is located in the middle of the Lesser Sunda Islands chain (a group of
islands in the southern Maritime Southeast Asia) and is in the province of West Nusa Tenggara3.

Understanding the eruptive history of Tambora can provide crucial information needed to detect
and prepare for future events. Furthermore, it is important to test current understanding of plate
tectonics to ensure scientists are adequately prepared to predict where future volcanoes may occur,
using past volcanoes like Tambora as a model. 2.0 Plate Tectonics of Indonesia Indonesia is situated
between two tectonically active plates: Australian and Eurasian plate. It is important to understand
the amount of fault motion between these plates, as it is the major source of influence regarding
eruptions in the region. The result of these tectonically active plates is the creation of the Circum
Pacific belt (termed the Pacific Ring of Fire) and the Alpide Belt. Figure 3 provides a pictorial view
of both plates and their relation to the Circum Pacific belt. The Circum Pacific belt is the world s
greatest earthquake belt, with a series of fault lines stretching 25,00 miles7. An unfortunate
circumstance for the inhabitants of Indonesia who are situated between these two belts, the
eruptions of earthquakes and volcanoes are far too common. Essentially, volcanoes erupt either due
to divergent tectonic plates pulling apart causing an eruption, or convergent tectonic plates coming
together (forming great pressure) causing an eruption8. In the case of Indonesia and the Circum
Pacific belt, the latter is more common. Because Indonesia and

The Anti- Corruption Of Bangladesh
Since the independence, Bangladesh has achieved commendable progresses in terms of socio

governance. There have been several institutions in the country established to fight corruption in the
country. The Bureau of Anti Corruption (BAC) was established in 1957, during which Bangladesh
was East Pakistan. This bureau was the first institution established to fight corruption. Corruption
was identified as a crime under the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1898 as well as Prevention of
Corruption Act 1947 and the Anti Corruption Act 1958. Unfortunately none of the above was

According to this amendment the organization had to seek government approval to investigate and
file a case, therefore it limited the operational capacity of the commission. Based on the complaints
from the lawmakers from all over the country, an amendment was made that allowed the
commission to be more independent and not subjected to the government approvals for their
investigation. Although the commission is independent by law, in practice the politicians and civil
society have turned their attention to the selection process of the commission leadership. (Global
Integrity, 2010) According to Hechler et.al (2011), the commission has been active during the
tenure of the caretaker government and has filed many cases including top political leaders.
However, due to the elections in December 2008, many cases were dropped. In 2010 a set of
recommendations were proposed that could limit the powers of the commission by providing a
provision of seeking approval from the government prior to the investigation, which was withdrew

Case 4.19 The Extracellular Matrix Of Animal Cells
4.19 The extracellular matrix of animal cells function in support and regulation
Most cells synthesize and secrete materials that remain outside the plasma membrane
Animal cells produce elaborate extracellular matrix (ECM)
This layer holds cells together in tissues and protects and supports the plasma membrane
Main components of ECM are, glycoproteins, proteins bonded with cars
The most abundant glycoprotein is collagen, which forms strong fibers outside the cell
ECM many attach to the cell through other glycoproteins that then bind to membrane proteins
called integrins

then having the energy to produce better work later is more effective than constantly working
and putting in less effort. This experience has taught me that I need to start slowing down my
own life more, and that being an effective leader means that you need to support others as well as
yourself. As we discussed in class, there are a multitude of characteristics that define a good
leader, but one that has always stood out to me are those that are compassionate and supportive
of those around them. I have always believed in the phrase to lead by example and I believe that
by showing others it is okay to slow down as the Ted talk said, as well as being more supportive

The First Potential Cause Of Learning Challenge For This...
a.The first potential cause of learning challenge for this scenario is that students are experiencing
high cognitive load. As the description of the scenario states, the students appear to be struggling
because they are taking multiple classes with heavy content. According to Dembo and Seli (2013),
working memory is limited in capacity and duration. This is represented in the way that students
are having issues applying the knowledge on exam essays, because they can t apply knowledge that
they didn t effectively learn when their working memory was taxed.
The second potential cause of learning challenge for this scenario is that there is ineffective
instructional design taking place on the part of the instructor. As the scenario relates, students having
trouble with the literature review final, because they don t have experience with completing this
type of assignment. As we learned from Smith and Ragan (2005), as cited in the Unit 3 lecture,
effective instructional design takes into account the development level of students, as well as
specific prior knowledge. Having students complete an assignment that they don t know how to do
then, is poor instructional design. According to the Kirschner (2009) article also presented in the
Unit 3 lecture, this is extraneous cognitive load and does not contribute to learning.
b.Since the cognitive load is intrinsic to the task (the description states that the content is heavy
and the essay is a complex task), readings could be split

I Attended Western Kentucky University s Symphony Concert
I attended Western Kentucky University s symphony concert. It was on Friday, October 30th at
7:30pm. It was held in Van Meter Hall. Their event was named It s time for a treat. The
symphony was conducted by Dr. Brain St. John. Before it began, I read over the program that was
handed out to find out basic information. The history of the pieces helped in understanding them.
The concert featured many well known works by famous composers such as Camille Saint Saens,
Modest Mussorgsky, and Berlioz. The three pieces that are the most memorable in my mind are
Overture to La Cenerentola , LГ ci darem la mano , and March to the Scaffold from Symphonie
Fantastique. Beginning with the first piece called Overture to La Cenerentola composed by
Gioachino Rossiniin 1817. It was part of the Rossini s version of the opera, Cinderella. An overture
is used to capture the audience s attention. It informs the audience the concert is about to begin.
This piece is still a good selection for an overture. The contrasting soft and loud pitches made a
good way to get the audience s attention. Also the brass section became a vital piece towards the
end with the intense The increasing and decreasing tempo seemed like a good warning that the
main event was about to begin. I really enjoyed this music. I felt like it was light because of how
the strings and woodwinds interacted. This helped the mood in the room go from somber to upbeat.

  • 2. Mrs. Dalloway, By Virginia Woolf During World War One, many societal norms were disrupted and thrown aside. Everything was displaced, including gender roles. With people dying in trenches everyday, a woman s place in the kitchen became a secondary concern. World War One was a time of progressive change however, this change was only temporary. Both One of Ours, written by Willa Cather, and Mrs. Dalloway, written by Virginia Woolf, take place during this era. Despite being set during a time of supposed progress for women s rights, the roles that women are expected to fulfill in these texts are still oppressive.Examining these novels, it becomes apparent that the roles of women did not change as a result of the war. In fact, Enid, in One of Ours, and Mrs. Dalloway, in Mrs.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The men returned home and soon returned to their original jobs. Marsha Gordon further writes, Once again using the ploys of patriotism, women were expected to return to pre war standards for women s labour without questioning the patriarchal ideology behind this assumption (85). The progress of women s rights ended abruptly when the soldiers came back to resume their old lives. Progressively, the main thing to come out of World War One for women was the passing of the 19th Amendment in 1920, three years after World War One (Hughes, 1). It wasn t until World War Two that women s roles truly became redefined. In the novel One of Ours, Enid Wheeler is a headstrong and determined character, going against women s traditional roles during the early 1900s. Early on in One of Ours, Enid shows that she does not uphold the traditional values forced on many women. For instance, when a thunderstorm appears while Enid and Claude are driving, Claude stops, wanting to wait out the storm. Enid takes the driver s seat from Claude and maneuvers them through the storm (111 114). Enid is not afraid to step up and assume a position of authority. Critic Ryan M., writer of No Woman s Land: Gender in Willa Cather s One of Ours, writes that Enid assumes the active male role, intruding herself into his sickroom, courting him with flowers, beating him at chess (page ?). By actively seeking Claude out, whether as a friend or for romantic interest, Enid is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. What Is Hockey In Latin America Hockey in Latin America; the two concepts are not usually associated with each other, but hockey is a somewhat popular sport with local children and families. Hockey is not a recent addition to the sports industry in Latin America. While Latin America is not a region well known for its hockey games, hockey is a sport that is gaining popularity with local families and children. The Falkland Islands, with a population of 2932 people according to the Hockey House in 2015, is the smallest hockey nation in the world. In a country lacking even one ice rink to practice on, the Falkland Islands hockey team has made history by winning their first game to ever play despite never playing or practicing on the ice before. The Falkland Islands plans on sending some players to Chile twice a year to practice hockey in an arena until the Falkland Islands are able to build an ice rink. Unlike the Falkland Islands, which lacks an ice rink and is somewhat new to the sport, the Puerto Rican Ice HockeyFederation was founded in 2004, but hockey has been in the country for a few more years than that. Around 40 years ago, Puerto Rico had an ice rink known as the Reina de Heilo in San Juan. Unfortunately, the Reina de Heilo shut down in 1978, but the country of Puerto Rico was... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Ice hockey didn t even exist in Costa Rica until 1996. A Canada native, Bruce Callow, helped hockey become a known sport in Costa Rica by making a plastic, makeshift hockey rink in the middle of the food court of the Real Cariari Shopping Center. The rink was long and thin, and the pucks would sometimes fly off into the food court while people were eating, he told the Tico Times. The Real Cariari Shopping Center is home to the only ice skating rink in Central America. Bruce Callow was a major help in Costa Rica; he started hockey programs on synthetic ice in an amusement park in Belen and an abandoned warehouse in Santa ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However without the heroism of hundreds of unsung grass roots activists, the action would not ever have complete what it did. In Freedom Riders, Raymond Arsenault, a professor of history at the university of South Florida, rescues from obscurity the guys and women who, at high quality individual threat, rode public buses into the South as a way to venture segregation in interstate travel. Drawing on individual papers, F.B.I. Documents and interviews with more than 200 contributors within the rides, Arsenault brings vividly to life a defining moment in modern American history. • 5. Essay about The Central Part of Berkeley s Metaphysics The Central Part of Berkeley s Metaphysics The central part of Berkeley s metaphysics seems paradoxical or even absurd. Its claim is that what we call solid, and indeed everything else that we find laid out in the three dimensional physical word that is apparently around us, is only fictional. It appears to be there, but it does not really have an independent existence. The physical world is, according to Berkeley, dependent on and only perceived through a mental state. In Three Dialogues Between Hylas and Philonous, Berkeley tried to explain how a seemingly noncommonsensical theory can actually consist of commonsensical characteristics. There are two contentions made by Berkeley in his attempt to prove that commonsense is the basis ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Hence, none or these qualities exist outside the mind because we all see things differently. It is impossible, therefore, that matter be something existing in itself, objective, inert, and devoid of thought. According to Berkeley, when we say that a thing exists, we mean nothing more than that such a thing is merely perceived by us. Berkeley stated, To be is to be perceived. Berkeley s answer to the philosophical question, if there is no one in the forest when a tree falls, is there a sound, would be no because the forest cannot exist without a perceiver. Primary or secondary qualities, substances and impressions are nothing other than acts of perception, that is, mental facts; and their existence signifies their being perceived as mental acts. If I walk into a room containing a table, the table exists. However, when I leave the room, the table no longer exists. The Paradoxical problem arises when one asks, how is it then that when I return to the room, the table is still there? While denying the existence of a material world, Berkeley did not deny the existence of the world of spirits/minds. He believed that from the very presence of ideas and impressions, there had to existence finite spirits/minds, and because there had to be an origin of these ideas/impression, there had to exist a finite spirit/mind. Finite spirits/minds refers to humans and the Infinite Spirit/Mind refers to God. Now ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Younger Dryas Impact Hypothesis Younger Dryas Climate Event Occurring about 12,800 years ago, The Younger Dryas Climate Event was an abrupt climate change that dropped the Earth temperature by about 10 degrees, bringing dry winds ( Abrupt Climate Change , 2003). This event followed a warming trend that had resulted in glacier melting. As the melting water filtered down the Mississippi and into the Gulf of Mexico, its route suddenly diverted, carrying the water east into the Atlantic Ocean. This change in the water path disrupted both the salinity and the flow in the ocean system, thus changing the climate of the Northern region. Unfortunately, 30 species of animals became extinct as a result of the changes, and nearly 80 percent of North America s large animals disappeared (video). Ending abruptly, the Younger Dryas officially ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although no debate exists regarding whether this event occurred, several theories have been created explaining the reason why it occurred. One such theory is the Younger Dryas Impact Hypothesis, also known as the Clovis Comet Hypothesis, which proposes that a comet or asteroid hit North America, killing off many animals and human instantly, and non adapting species were also eradicated due to starvation (video). One critique of this hypothesis is that no crater has been found on Earth s surface; however, it is likely that the comet hit the glacier, which ultimately melted and left no physical sign. Another hypothesis depends on the idea of a thermohaline circulation shutdown due to the changes in ocean circulation ( Abrupt Climate Change , 2003). A problem with this hypothesis, however, is that another glacier melting event occurred following the Younger Dryas, and it did not create a massive climate change. Another theory states that the climate change was brought on by Earth s orbital changes, but much more information is needed regarding this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Teen Suicidal Behavior in our Society To live is a very fragile and misunderstood term. Countless lives are taken unwillingly each day by mere accidents, while others are lost fighting to defend their countries beliefs. Some of these lives grow old, and some do not, but many are not being lived in the way they were intended. Somewhere along the lines in our society, people have the idea that their own life might not be worth living. Ending their life is called suicide, and it is becoming more and more popular among teenagers in this generation. For people between the ages of fifteen and twenty four, suicide is the third leading cause of death, only behind accidents and homicides (New, 2012). It was recorded in 1996, that more teenagers and young adults committed... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is where the school needs to step in and have a greater crack down of the nationwide epidemic of bullying. Research suggests preventing teenage suicides through better school based support systems is key, which all starts with preventing bullying (Fisher, 2006). Aside from religious beliefs, homosexual teens undergo an abnormal amount of stress. From being confused about their feelings to being worried about how they will be accepted, these teens have enough on their plate. When homosexual teens get bullied at school for their different views, classmates rude comments may be enough to send them over their stress limit. Thirty percent of teen suicides annually are from teenagers who have come out as being homosexual (Woodward, 2005). There is much controversy over the topic of homosexuality, especially when people bring the matter of religion into the equation. Individuals who are against this choice in life say that the thirty percent statistic is flawed because it was calculated by a man who was a known homosexual. They believe that homosexuals should not be looked upon as mentors in schools to help struggling children, but rather be kept away from them. Controversy aside, it all comes down to saving lives. Whether people agree with how they live or not does not matter, but their souls do. No one should be made to feel so insignificant that they would ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It triggered an unsettling feeling in me that why am I asked to do this in particular. I had a persecution complex and simply denied being gay. Well I must say that I kind of felt cheated as I didn t get the usual unaccepting reaction from her, while I was all prepared for tears drama. She found it quite normal and has always been my confidant. Indian men are spoilt by their mothers, gay straight and I am one of those. • 9. The Transition From Art Nouveau To Art Deco English Decorative Arts: The Transition from Art Nouveau to Art Deco Parallels can be seen running throughout the two movements and the following essay highlights the similarities and differences within the two styles and the causes of the fall from one and the rise of the other. Art Nouveau was likewise strongly influenced by the Pre Raphaelite movement which contained prominent artists such as Edward Burne Jones and John William Waterhouse (Meagher, 2017). This romantic style exhibited a return to nature; common themes were leaves, flowers, tendrils, and insects. Whiplash curves and flowing lines were prominently featured. Art Nouveau portrayals of women were erotic and sensual and many images depicted nudes and these images were originally shocking to the public (Hoffman, 2017) . Artists preferred a pallet of natural colours with soft muted tones of browns, olive greens, blues, and mustard yellow (Marinica, 2017). Advertisers procured these images and adopted the style to produce posters and newspaper advertisements promoting a variety of goods. The Czech artist Alphonse Mucha produced works of this type ( Alphonse Maria Mucha Complete Works 2017 , 2017). Artisans of the Aesthetic movement advocated art for art s sake and created works purely for beauty and never for function (Easby, 2017). James Abbot McNeil Whistler the artist who painted Whistlers Mother, was associated with this genre ( James Abbott McNeill Whistler 1834 1903 | Tate , 2017). ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Cide In The Rocide Genocide genocide the deliberate killing to eliminate of a group of people of the same race, religion or ethnicity. This word is derived from a combination of a Greek word genos ( race or tribe ) and a Latin word cide ( killing ). In 1994, in the beginning of April, the same has happened in Rwanda. A genocide. Before the colonial period in Rwanda, there were three classifications of people. Hutus, who made up the majority of the population 84%, Tutsi who were only 17% and Twa who only made up 1%. Hutus were from less privileged families and were cultivators, Tutsis were cattle herders and from rich families, and Twa were potters and were outshined by the other groups (Stapleton 28). However, these classifications were based on the number of cattle people owned. People who owned 10 cows or more were considered Tutsi and people with less than 10 cows were considered Hutu. People could shift from being a Hutu to a Tutsi or vice versa depending on the number of cattle they had. Before colonization Tutsis and Hutus lived peacefully (Warren 19). During the colonial period tensions from all corners, politically, educationally and socially were created such that hatred and violence was harbored in Hutus and they decided to eliminate fellow Rwandese, Tutsis. The existence of ethnicities itself did not lead to the Tutsi Genocide since they existed even before the colonial era. • 12. Essay On Six Months To Break A Behavior Some people say that it takes six months to break a habit. However, I personally think it requires more of a mental change rather than just a physical change to break a behavior regardless if it s six months or shorter. In this case, I had two weeks to change a behavior I did on a daily basis. For this paper I worked on two things that I wanted to work on. First, It was not wearing makeup for a week and second, I really wanted to subtract dairy products from my diet. After I give a reflection of my experience, I will being to talk about my internship and how we encourage a change behavior within our families. I wanted to focus eliminating dairy products in my daily intake and find a substitute if possible. PГ©rotin is called by many different names: Perotinus his Latin Name and Perotinus Magnus PГ©rotin the Great ; and even optimus discantor , or great composer of discant. According to Hussman, PГ©rotin was a court composer for Notre Dame, but his connection to Notre Dame is not entirely confirmed. It is because of an account by the English traveler Anonymous IV and letters to a Bishop that it is accepted that PГ©rotin was associated with Notre Dame. Whether he wrote specifically for Notre Dame or not, PГ©rotin wrote magnificent music that has been preserved for several centuries to this day . The life of PГ©rotin is uncertain and full of speculation. Different scholars have very diverse ideas of PГ©rotin s life. Tischler believed that PГ©rotin was born sometime between 1155 and 1160. He also stated that he was a pupil of Leonin, the composer of the Magnus liber. PГ©rotin is believed to have to have been a better organum composer the Leonin himself and even revised the Magnus liber at the end of the 12th century between 1180 and 1190 . In revising the Magnus liber, PГ©rotin composed and inserted his own clausula and puncta, such as Alleluya Nativitas into the Magnus liber. This type of system allows a company to dispose and remove unnecessary items properly, prevent the accumulation of these items, and help decipher if these are costs that need to be rid of. Costs tend to pile up on businesses and companies in the form of wastes and defects. Some situations that are an example of this are utilization suffering because item changeovers take too long, product is rushed in because an important part cannot be found, and output not meeting its full potential because of crew to crew variations (Bresko 2014). Written by Samuel Taylor Coleridge, The Rime of the Ancient Mariner is a poet depicting the adventures and experiences of a mariner sailing the seas. Throughout the poem, there a many literary devices that bring the tale to life and help the readers understand the turmoil that the mariner went through. Those devices include, but are not limited to, personification, metaphors, alliteration, and assonances. Without the use of these elements, the poem would not have been as effective. One of the most prominent literary devices that Coleridge uses in The Rime of the Ancient Marineris personification. On example of such personification would be in part one of the poem. At present, this energy is derived from various sources with fossil fuels being the largest by far. According to the United States Energy Information Administration, in 2014 sixty seven percent of the United State s energy was converted from fossil fuels. ( What is U.S. Electricity Generation by Energy Source? ) Although fossil fuels are able to meet rising energy demands, they are limited and toxic to this planet. For this reason, U.S. officials have already begun to consider alternative sources of energy to break America s fossil fuel addiction; namely, liquid fuels derived from various agricultural crops. However, using agriculture in this way infringes upon the nation s food supply and the quantity of fuel produced is unable to meet rising fuel demands. Due to this, a new, dedicated source of energy is needed. One proposed source is microalgae, a microscopic plant life form that is neither a part of the food supply, or a detriment to the environment. In addition, microalgae are able to produce copious amounts of liquid fuel in comparison to currently used crops. America should invest in the production of microalgae for bio fuel to solve issues caused by modern energy production processes. In the past, there have been significant events that have led to increased awareness of energy production and the way it affects the planet. James A. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Two of the main main characters, Javert and Jean Valjean conflict on that issue many times. Jean Valjean is a man of his morals rather than the law, whereas Javert is strictly about the law, and nothing else. Both of these characters face many legal and moral issues throughout the book. Jean Valjean looks into his morals when he is faced with a dilemma. The first time that this becomes apparent is the beginning of the book, when we learn why he is in jail. Valjean was faced with jail time because his family was struggling and starving and he thought is was morally okay to steal bread for his family even though it was illegal. Valjean stealing the bread even though it was illegal, but because his family needs it his morals say that it is okay for him to do so, showing legality versus morality. Another thing that Valjean does that demonstrate this theme is that when Javert tells Valjean(when he is mayor and going under the name of Madeleine) that someone has been caught under his name. If he decides to do nothing he will then face no legal troubles any more, but because of his morals he decides the right thing to do is to go to the court where this trail is taking place, and say that he is the real Valjean. He think it is immoral to let this man suffer for his actions, so he decides to reveal himself. Javert is the opposite of Valjean, and relies heavily on the legality side. In the ... It is estimated that 1,148,200 individuals are living with HIV, with about 207,800 or 18% that are undiagnosed and 47,500 newly infected in 2010, in the United States (CDC, 2013). However, in a later study, Rose (2005) also points to the significance of performing a detailed analysis of job satisfaction. The former approach is preferred for this study as it is follows closely on the work done by Brown et al. (2008). Job satisfaction is linked to the sense of achievement with work; the level of a influence work; and with pay. These key facets of satisfaction are discussed in our analysis and examined empirically. Also, achieving a fulfilling employment and providing workers with adequate control and influence on their work are significant for improving job satisfaction (Layard, 2005). In 1983, the Venezuelan collaborative research project estimated the location of the HD gene using genetic linkage analysis. It was the first autosomal dominant gene to be discovered using this particular method and found that the gene is situated at 4p16.3. In 1996, modeling the disease in transgenic mice opened the door to new experiments. Sine these mice have a high metabolism rate and a short lifespan; the results can be collected in a fast manner, thus minimizing the time needed for conducting the research. Types Of Alternate Dispute Resolutions A traditional judicial process such as litigation is a settlement of an agreement between the parties involved in a dispute that is heard and decided by the judge and a jury in court. Due to the rising costs of litigation and time delays, businesspersons are turning to alternate dispute resolutions as a way to come to an agreement. Many states and corporations have been experimenting with ADR programs and have found it to be a great alternate. Three types of alternate dispute resolutions are negotiation, mediation, and arbitration. Roger LeRoy Miller, author of Business Law Today stated that, Today, more than 90 percent of cases are settled before trial through some form of ADR (84). Each process is used differently amongst parties and each has its own benefits. Alternate dispute resolutions tend to have lower costs and the process is much shorter. The use of alternate dispute resolutions is growing at a fast rate because many businesses and corporations find it to be an easier way to come to a settlement. Although alternate dispute resolutions have been recognized for their advantages its still important not to overlook the disadvantages of each. Generally, the simplest form of alternate dispute resolution is negotiation. Negotiation allows the parties to meet informally with or without their attorney s present to settle their dispute. This process does not require a neutral third party to be at the meeting because the parties reach a resolution on their own terms. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

So the question we must ask is when we use stock option based incentives for executives, does the evidence warrant the need for greater controls or regulation? Denis et al. (2006) briefly explores the idea of the need for greater outside monitoring, and discusses how the dark side of stock incentive compensation may require robust corporate governance structures to counter veil the negative effects. Dogs are more skillful than great apes at a number of tasks in which they must read human communicative signals like indicating the location of hidden food. However, the main objective of these studies was to determine whether the skills that doghave today have arisen from the hundreds of years of domestication and co evolution with humans, or if these were already in their genes from their wolf ancestors (Bates 2013). The modern wolf comes from a long history of canines, which have adapted to survive in many different environments. They adapt their diet to the food that is available where younger wolves watch and learn from the other members of the pack, a behavior commonly known as cultural transmission. The alpha wolves order the others on where to go, when to hunt and where to make a den. Wolves like dogs act upon orders. Genetic and archaeological evidence shows that humans domesticated wolves on more than one occasion. Domesticated wolves provided early humans with a guard animal, a source of food, fur, and a beast of burden. The process continues to this day, with the intentional artificial selection and crossbreeding of dogs to create new breeds. I have always believed in the phrase to lead by example and I believe that by showing others it is okay to slow down as the Ted talk said, as well as being more supportive in my structured style will allow those that work with me to lead a healthier more effective life. Overall, I think that this was a very effective assignment, and I cannot wait to be a more supportive leader to others and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 55. The First Potential Cause Of Learning Challenge For This... a.The first potential cause of learning challenge for this scenario is that students are experiencing high cognitive load. As the description of the scenario states, the students appear to be struggling because they are taking multiple classes with heavy content. According to Dembo and Seli (2013), working memory is limited in capacity and duration. This is represented in the way that students are having issues applying the knowledge on exam essays, because they can t apply knowledge that they didn t effectively learn when their working memory was taxed. The second potential cause of learning challenge for this scenario is that there is ineffective instructional design taking place on the part of the instructor. As the scenario relates, students having trouble with the literature review final, because they don t have experience with completing this type of assignment. As we learned from Smith and Ragan (2005), as cited in the Unit 3 lecture, effective instructional design takes into account the development level of students, as well as specific prior knowledge. Having students complete an assignment that they don t know how to do then, is poor instructional design. According to the Kirschner (2009) article also presented in the Unit 3 lecture, this is extraneous cognitive load and does not contribute to learning. b.Since the cognitive load is intrinsic to the task (the description states that the content is heavy and the essay is a complex task), readings could be split ... • 57. I Attended Western Kentucky University s Symphony Concert I attended Western Kentucky University s symphony concert. It was on Friday, October 30th at 7:30pm. It was held in Van Meter Hall. Their event was named It s time for a treat. The symphony was conducted by Dr. Brain St. John. Before it began, I read over the program that was handed out to find out basic information. The history of the pieces helped in understanding them. The concert featured many well known works by famous composers such as Camille Saint Saens, Modest Mussorgsky, and Berlioz. The three pieces that are the most memorable in my mind are Overture to La Cenerentola , LГ ci darem la mano , and March to the Scaffold from Symphonie Fantastique. Beginning with the first piece called Overture to La Cenerentola composed by Gioachino Rossiniin 1817. It was part of the Rossini s version of the opera, Cinderella. An overture is used to capture the audience s attention. It informs the audience the concert is about to begin. This piece is still a good selection for an overture. The contrasting soft and loud pitches made a good way to get the audience s attention. Also the brass section became a vital piece towards the end with the intense The increasing and decreasing tempo seemed like a good warning that the main event was about to begin. I really enjoyed this music. I felt like it was light because of how the strings and woodwinds interacted. This helped the mood in the room go from somber to upbeat. LГ ci darem la mano by Wolfgang Mozart was my ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
