This document summarizes findings from Ofsted about what has the most impact on growing great schools. According to Ofsted, strong leadership and culture have the greatest impact. Effective school leaders establish a culture of high aspirations where staff and students' voices shape development. Leaders also provide bespoke and continuous professional development to teachers to improve teaching, understand teachers' needs, and target areas needing improvement. Developing future leaders through mentoring, coaching, and leadership programs also builds the capacity needed to sustain school growth. Partnerships between schools and other organizations further support staff development and teacher training.

Beer is the world's oldest and most widely consumed alcoholic drink; it is the third most popular drink overall, after water and tea. The production of beer is called brewing, which involves the fermentation of sugars, mainly derived from cereal grain starches—most commonly from malted barley, although wheat, maize (corn), and rice are widely used. Most beer is flavoured with hops, which add bitterness and act as a natural preservative, though other flavourings such as herbs or fruit may occasionally be included. The fermentation process causes a natural carbonation effect, although this is often removed during processing, and replaced with forced carbonation.

Business and entrepreneurship-focused professional development programs like the Rice Education Entrepreneurship Program (REEP) Business Fellowship for School Leaders give educators give educators new tools for problem-solving, management, and strategy.
Raise Your Hand Texas funds the tuition expenses for a selective group of campus leaders from Houston-area school districts to participate in REEP at Rice University.
The Rice University Education Entrepreneurship Program is for current and aspiring school leaders in the Houston area who want to dramatically impact public education at a deeper, more systemic level.
This unique program combines a world-class business school education with an innovative educational leadership curriculum that results in transformative experiences for local K-12 leaders.

Secondary pupils who need to catch up with reading_webinar slides.pptxOfsted
This presentation explores what research and inspection tell us about effective assessment, curriculum and pedagogy for secondary-aged pupils who need to catch up urgently with reading. We also share how we inspect this aspect of a school’s work.
EIF inspections - seeing the big picture.pptxOfsted
This slidepack is from a webinar: https://youtu.be/KXZU41gBUa8
In it, we explain how inspectors weigh up the evidence they collect on inspection, seeing the big picture of what a school is providing overall for its pupils, for example by striking the right balance between a school’s curriculum and performance data.
This is from virtual roadshows on the new area SEND inspection framework, held by Ofsted, CQC, Department for Education and NHSE.
It explains the changes under the new framework and how we gather evidence on inspection; gives an update on the SEND green paper reforms; and sets out the plans for carrying out thematic visits, that will focus on alternative provision this year.
Webinar 2 Inspections and the COVID-19 pandemic.pptxOfsted
Slides expanded from the webinar held on 9 May for schools on how Ofsted has modified its approach in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

Embracing GenAI - A Strategic ImperativePeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.
3. Leadership and culture
Establishing and sustaining a culture of high aspirations, everyone having the
chance to realise their aspirations.
A culture where:
voice of staff and pupils shapes development
staff are actively involved in developing the school, valued
communication and collaboration is strong, sustainable and not reactive
leaders value professional expertise of staff - teachers owning their practice
without being asked to do ‘things for Ofsted’
leaders are confident to challenge each other if myths emerge
leaders are united in common purpose and understand fully their roles and
responsibilities.

Annual Report 2014/15:
‘It is good leadership, and particularity good leadership of teaching and learning,
that makes the biggest difference to school and college standards.’
Determined focus on leading high quality teaching with secure, not erratic,
leadership
Leaders have an accurate understanding of standards across the school and
target action where it is needed the most
Helping teachers with curriculum planning has positive impact on teaching –
developing subject knowledge
Taking difficult decisions where teaching is weak and developing competence

Professional development for all - bespoke, timely
Leaders have strong evaluative skills to target professional development to
short-term issues as well as planning longer-term development opportunities
Autonomy and accountability are equally important.
Annual Report 2015/16: Secondary school improvement
In the schools that were found to have improved, there was a very clear pattern
of improved teaching because leaders had focused on continuous bespoke
professional development.
Investment in highly personalised training, feedback and assessment of the
quality of teaching was beneficial. Senior leaders understood clearly what staff
needed to improve their teaching.
