Who would be the attracted demographic to Project Love?
Seeing as how Project Love does not differ from most other Rom Com films’ chosen
formula, in our using of traditional conventions such as so far:
A pushy confidant/best friend
The reluctancy of protagonist to try out the things suggested by
confidant/best friend
And because those qualities have always won over in the past, people of the female
persuasion, by various directors that have incorporated them and more into their
works – so because we have tried for the same type of audience from appealing to
their stereotypical interests, the attracted demographic to Project Love, would be
females. To put it simply, on the basis of Rom Coms nine times out of ten, being
directed to females for them to buy into those sorts of products, rather than it being
males.
In fact, the success rate of the female demographic toward Romantic Comedies has
been so widespread, that Rom Coms are often nicknamed ‘chick flicks’ because of
their popularity with them.
Furthermore, because our main attention is put to our protagonist who is female,
makes it appeal to females, because they have a vested interest in the life and
experiences of a fellow woman doing similar things to what the audience would.
That there, leads to similarity, turning into familiarity. Once that has happened, the
female buyer is emotionally invested and driven to have contact with this movie. Be
it cinema viewing and/or a DVD/ bluray purchase for example.
