The document discusses various perspectives on life and time based on passages from the Bible. It notes that life has complexity, uncertainties, brevity, and a spiritual element. Specifically, it emphasizes that time is precious and passing, the future is unknown, our days are limited, and we should recognize God's sovereignty over our lives.
Westmoreland wishes he had more men from England to join the fight. King Henry says that if they are meant to die, the men they have are enough, and if meant to live, fewer men means greater honor for each. He tells Westmoreland not to wish for one more man, as he does not want to lose any part of the honor for himself. King Henry then tells Westmoreland to proclaim to the troops that any man unwilling to fight should leave, as they do not want to die alongside cowardly men.
Memorial Day inspires mixed emotions of pride and sorrow. The speech from Henry V on the eve of the Battle of Agincourt expresses pride in those who gave their lives for freedom. In the speech, Henry V says that those fighting will become brothers, regardless of their backgrounds, and those not fighting with them will feel cursed they missed the opportunity. Anyone who lives through the battle will want to annually remember and retell the story of those who fought on St. Crispin's Day.
The document appears to be a transcript from a movie or show about Mary and Anne Boleyn, sisters who lived during the English Tudor period. It describes Mary being presented to King Henry VIII and seeming to make a good impression. It then shows tensions growing between the sisters as Anne defies expectations and pursues becoming the King's mistress and later queen instead of just making a politically advantageous marriage arranged by her father, putting the two sisters in rivalry against each other.
This document discusses adultery according to the Bible. It defines three types of adultery: sexual adultery involving unlawful intercourse, adultery without intercourse through lustful thoughts and actions, and spiritual adultery involving idolatry and apostasy. Jesus expanded the definition of adultery to include lustful thoughts. The document also discusses how pornography promotes adultery without intercourse and harms human dignity. It notes the prevalence of child trafficking and prostitution resulting from the porn industry.
Paul writes to the Galatians expressing concern that after experiencing a relationship with God, some are returning to following weak and poor traditions. He fears his work among them will be for nothing if they observe special days and seasons again. Paul wants them to become like him as he has become like them. He thinks carefully about what he says, and does not want to become their enemy, but must be honest with them. Others have been zealous among the Galatians for the wrong reasons, wanting to cut them off from Paul so they will follow them instead. Paul wishes he could be with them to change the tone of his voice as he is uncertain about where they stand.

The document discusses how to successfully live the Christian life by following Jesus' example of humility, obedience, and love. It encourages doing everything without grumbling or arguing so that one can be found blameless. It also warns against complaining as it is a sin, and instructs being glad and rejoicing instead.

RF-based energy harvesting involves capturing ambient radio frequency (RF) energy from sources like cell phones, WiFi networks, and television broadcasts. This energy can then be converted into direct current (DC) power to charge or operate low-power electronic devices without needing batteries. For example, one system harvests RF energy from nearby iPhones using an RF receiver and converts it to power tiny wireless sensor nodes for applications like health monitoring. This technology could eliminate the need for batteries in many small devices.

The document summarizes Ralph Tyler's model of curriculum design. The model is based on four fundamental questions: 1) what educational purposes should the school seek, 2) what experiences are likely to attain these purposes, 3) how can experiences be organized effectively, and 4) how can we determine if purposes are being attained. The model also considers the nature and structure of knowledge, needs of learners, and needs of society.
The document discusses curriculum development and Ralph Tyler's model of curriculum planning. It provides background on Tyler, summarizes his four fundamental questions for curriculum planning, and outlines his model which begins with setting objectives based on studying learners, society, and subject matter. The model includes selecting learning experiences to meet objectives, organizing instruction, and evaluating effectiveness. Strengths are that it provides a clear starting point, while criticisms include that it can narrowly interpret objectives and be time-consuming. The document also contrasts Tyler's deductive approach with Taba's inductive model.

The letter to the church in Laodicea criticizes them for being lukewarm in their faith. Jesus says they are neither cold nor hot in their devotion to him. While the church saw itself as rich and in need of nothing, Jesus says they are actually wretched, miserable, poor, blind and naked. He calls them to buy gold refined by fire, white garments and eye salve to truly understand their spiritual condition and be renewed in faith.

The document discusses Jesus' message to the church of Laodicea. It describes how Christ represents the spiritual condition of many who claim to follow God as nauseating due to lukewarm faith. Believers are counseled to buy gold refined by fire (faith), white garments (righteousness), and eye salve (spiritual discernment) by renouncing self-sufficiency and fully accepting Christ. Only then can we be opened up, broken like flowers in the rain, and reach beyond spiritual pain.
Biblical Faith is trust in the Sovereignty of God;
surrender to the Lordship of Christ;
obedience to the Word of God;
willingness to sacrifice for the Kingdom of God;
determination to seek first the Kingdom of God;
following in the steps of Christ;
putting Biblical duty first;
courage to overcome our fears;
boldness to obey God in spite of all opposition;
perseverance in spite of setbacks;
and discernment as to what is that good, acceptable and perfect Will of God (Romans 12:2).
The document is a Christian post advising being neither lukewarm nor extreme in faith. It references Revelation 3:15-20 where God says he will spit the lukewarm out of his mouth. The post encourages buying purified gold, white garments, and eye salve from God to be rich, unashamed, and able to see. It advises craving God's acceptance over people's and turning to God in all circumstances. Further, it says to refuse conforming to the world, give generously, and fully accept Jesus as Savior and Lord.
This passage from Revelation 3:14-22 describes a message from Jesus to the church in Laodicea. It portrays the church as wretched, miserable, poor, blind and naked. Jesus counsels them to buy gold refined by fire (faith), white garments (righteousness), and eye salve (spiritual discernment). We must renounce self-sufficiency and accept Jesus into our lives in order to receive these gifts freely, through dying to self and being raised with Christ.
Christian encounters two travelers on the King's Highway named Formalist and Hypocrisy. They claim to be pilgrims but Christian is skeptical. He learns they came from the Land of Vainglory and joined the pilgrimage for praise and appearances rather than true faith. Christian warns them that outward rituals and long tradition do not establish truth or guarantee salvation, which only comes through repentance and faith in Christ.
The document discusses the need for Christians to hunger and thirst for justice and righteousness rather than worldly things. It says Christians should seek to be like Christ in holiness and build bridges between God and sinners. However, today's preaching focuses too much on prosperity, experience, and man rather than holiness. The church also seeks to imitate the world in music, fashion, and speech rather than being filled with God's word and spirit. To reform the church, we must return to scripture and understand the most important thing is God's glory, not personal wellness or prosperity.

Seven letters teaching series week 8 LaodiceaMatt Hines
This document provides details about the city of Laodicea and analyzes the biblical passage of Jesus' letter to the church in Laodicea in Revelation 3:14-22. It describes Laodicea's geography and notable industries. Jesus criticizes the church for being lukewarm in their faith and calls them to repent by buying gold, white clothes, and eye salve from him to become spiritually rich, pure, and discerning. He promises victory to those who overcome and invites the church to fellowship with him again.
June 11 2017 - Sunday Message - PASSION FOR JESUS. (HATING TO BE LUKEWARM…) ...Catherine Lirio
God addresses the church in Laodicea, describing them as lukewarm - neither hot nor cold for God. He rebukes them for losing their passion and vision for Jesus, becoming unfaithful and unwilling to grow. God desires passionate followers and warns that a lukewarm attitude greatly displeases Him. He calls the church to restore their fire for Jesus by repenting of sins that have caused their stagnation, and to overcome lukewarmness so they can share in His kingdom.
The document discusses the dangers and sources of gossip and division within churches. It provides several Bible passages condemning gossip and urging unity. Gossip stems from issues like carnality, jealousy, desire for position and biblical illiteracy. Churches should have zero tolerance for gossip and slander in order to remain unified and protect members from harm.
Jesus is described as the Wonderful Counselor who knows everything about us. As the revelation reveals, he sees that the church in Laodicea was lukewarm in their faith, thinking they had no needs when in reality they were wretched and in need of his salvation. Jesus offers himself to them, counseling them to buy gold refined by fire, white garments, and salve for their eyes so they can see and no longer be deceived.
The document provides an overview of a biblical timeline class covering major events from God and creation through the second coming of Christ. It reviews key people and developments in the Old and New Testaments. It also includes discussion questions on interpreting scripture related to serving others in need and God's final judgment.
1) Micah loses everything of value after failing to keep God as the center of his life.
2) Some men from the tribe of Dan are sent to find new lands and come upon Micah's house where they meet a Levite priest.
3) The priest tells the men what they want to hear - that their journey will be prosperous - rather than giving Godly counsel. Christians must stand firm in the truth.

This document contains a summary of Bible passages from Proverbs and Exodus regarding parenting and discipline. It discusses how the Bible prescribes the death penalty for children who curse or strike their parents. It also warns that a lack of discipline makes children easier for the devil to corrupt, and encourages raising children to know, love, and worship God.
Social Media & Technology in Ministry: A Latino/a ApproachSamuel Robles Jr.
This is a workshop I put together for Hispanic/Latino(a) pastors and leaders. Most of the information that exists about social media is euro-centric, and not much exists about its value in ministry. This is an approach to social media in the Hispanic context, and serves as a "conversation-starter" for its potential in ministry.

Defining Bilingual And Multicultural at Arise Christian ChurchSamuel Robles Jr.
At Arise Christian Church, we define "bilingual" and "multicultural" unconventionally. This is how we define it, and effectively do ministry in our context.
Arise Christian Church is hosting a Hispanic Heritage Month Art Exhibit in September and October 2009. The exhibit aims to showcase local Christian artists' work relating to Hispanic/Latino faith and culture. Artists may display and sell their original artwork at the free public event on Sundays from 10am-1pm. All artwork must be appropriate for a sacred environment and adhere to the exhibit's theme. The deadline to register for the exhibit is September 16.
This document summarizes a sermon given at Arise Christian Church about the biblical parable of two houses, one built on a rock foundation and one without a foundation. The sermon discusses how both houses experience adversity but the one built on the rock survives because it is well built and able to withstand challenges, just as obeying Jesus' words enables believers to endure trials in life. Worshippers are challenged to not just be interested listeners but obedient disciples who act on what they hear from Jesus.
This is a Resource Group I led/facilitated at the 2009 General Assembly of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Indianapolis, Indiana entitled, "The future is 'at the hyphen.'"
The Resource Group revolved around the Hispanic/Latino(a) experience in the United States, and how the Church is and/or is not responding to it.
This was a great time of sharing, learning, and healing.
Here is a description of the Resource Group:
In English & en Español
Coined by Justo Gonzalez, “at the hyphen” helps express the current state and future of Hispanic/Latino(a) people in the United States. Many Hispanic/Latino(a) children, youth, and adults born in the United States are struggling with their identity and language. Engage in a dialogue about this difficult, yet important topic.
This past Sunday was the final part of our series, "Transformed: from the inside out."
There was great feedback @ Arise as a result of this series teaching.
This presentation (part 3) begins where part 2 left off.
This was a study I did for Pentecost Sunday 2009 at Arise Christian Church, a new church start in Central Florida.
This presentation opened up the opportunity for people to ask questions and share thoughts and experiences. It was wonderful!
What is not included is a short video that was shared about translating the Bible in one's own language from Wycliffe Bible Translators.
As I have recently been talking with folks and meeting new people, I have heard a common thread of concern in their stories: transitions. This is a teaching I did at Arise Christian Church on Transitions, using Moses as an example.

It seems that current missionary work requires spending a lot of money, preparing a lot of materials, and traveling to far away places, so that it feels like missionary work. But what was the result they brought back? It's just a lot of photos of activities, fun eating, drinking and some playing games. And then we have to do the same thing next year, never ending. The church once mentioned that a certain missionary would go to the field where she used to work before the end of his life. It seemed that if she had not gone, no one would be willing to go. The reason why these missionary work is so difficult is that no one obeys God’s words, and the Bible is not the main content during missionary work, because in the eyes of those who do not obey God’s words, the Bible is just words and cannot be connected with life, so Reading out God's words is boring because it doesn't have any life experience, so it cannot be connected with human life. I will give a few examples in the hope that this situation can be changed. A375
