“ Get Set…” Rev. Samuel Robles Jr. August 23, 2009
Luke 6:46-49 Lucas 6: 46-49
The parable It is assumed that both people in the parable have heard Jesus’ words. The difference: the wise person acted upon what was heard. The foolish person does not act upon what was heard.

2 scenarios, 2 results Build a house on a rock foundation, and it will not shake because it is well built. Build a house without a foundation, and it will collapse and be destroyed.
The parable Both houses experience the same tribulation. But it’s the one that is built on the rock, the foundation that survives. So, Jesus does not state that his followers will not experience adversity. But rather, they will endure and be saved.
“… just as the nature of a house's foundation determines how well the house will hold up against the forces of nature, so also the extent of one's obedience to the words of Jesus determines how well one will hold up against the trials of life. ” - Gary Yamasaki ( Direction 33/2(2004))

The Challenge Will we be interested listeners? Or, will we be obedient disciples?
