This document provides information about a stencil cut printmaking lesson plan, including objectives, materials, procedures, and examples. The lesson plan teaches students to create stencil prints by using stencil cutters or knives to cut the negative space around an image, which is then printed using ink or paint. Examples are provided of stencil cut prints created by students and the instructor, Prasad Swain, featuring subjects such as people, animals, and objects. Background information is also given on the history and uses of the stencil technique.
This document discusses various printmaking techniques including acid etching, lino printing, collographs, direct offset monoprinting, additive and reductive monoprinting, monotypes, gyotaku fish printmaking, and gelatin monoprinting. The techniques involve drawing or collaging onto plates or surfaces, applying ink, and pressing onto paper to transfer the image. Some techniques like acid etching involve etching into metal plates while others like collographs build textures through collage that are then printed.
This document provides an overview of different printmaking techniques, including intaglio printing which involves etching or scratching into metal plates, lithography which uses wax crayon on stone, screen printing where a mesh screen is used to apply ink in a stencil-like fashion, and relief printing by carving into blocks of wood or other materials. It explains that prints are produced in limited editions, with only a set number of each print made, and discusses prominent artists who have used these various printmaking methods.
Printmaking is the process of making multiple artworks through various techniques involving transferring ink from a matrix or screen onto paper or other material. The main printmaking techniques discussed include intaglio methods like engraving, etching, mezzotint and aquatint where ink is pressed into lines or tones on a plate before printing; lithography which uses the repulsion of oil and water to create images on stone or metal plates; and screenprinting which forces ink through a fabric stencil using a squeegee. Artists over centuries have experimented with these techniques to produce artistic prints.
This document outlines the key points of a class on one color stencil printing techniques. The class will cover the history and process of stenciling, necessary materials and tools, contributions of stenciling to art and design, how to create a stencil, advantages and disadvantages, and applications. Students will learn how to use stenciling to create a reproducible design. The class will include a demonstration and hands-on workshop of the stencil printing technique. For homework, students will practice the process again with a more complex stencil and submit a written report with photos.
Printmaking is a technique that uses inked blocks or plates to print images multiple times. It originated in China around 100 AD as a woodcut printing method for books. There are five major types of printmaking: woodcut, engraving, relief, intaglio, and stencil printing, each with different carving or etching methods. Famous printmakers through history include Albrecht Dürer in the 1500s, Andy Warhol in the 1960s, and Katsushika Hokusai in the 1800s. Linoleum cuts are a type of relief print where the artist carves out lines to create the print from the incised areas.

Defining Bilingual And Multicultural at Arise Christian ChurchSamuel Robles Jr.
At Arise Christian Church, we define "bilingual" and "multicultural" unconventionally. This is how we define it, and effectively do ministry in our context.

Social Media & Technology in Ministry: A Latino/a ApproachSamuel Robles Jr.
This is a workshop I put together for Hispanic/Latino(a) pastors and leaders. Most of the information that exists about social media is euro-centric, and not much exists about its value in ministry. This is an approach to social media in the Hispanic context, and serves as a "conversation-starter" for its potential in ministry.

Arise Christian Church is hosting a Hispanic Heritage Month Art Exhibit in September and October 2009. The exhibit aims to showcase local Christian artists' work relating to Hispanic/Latino faith and culture. Artists may display and sell their original artwork at the free public event on Sundays from 10am-1pm. All artwork must be appropriate for a sacred environment and adhere to the exhibit's theme. The deadline to register for the exhibit is September 16.
This document summarizes a sermon given at Arise Christian Church about the biblical parable of two houses, one built on a rock foundation and one without a foundation. The sermon discusses how both houses experience adversity but the one built on the rock survives because it is well built and able to withstand challenges, just as obeying Jesus' words enables believers to endure trials in life. Worshippers are challenged to not just be interested listeners but obedient disciples who act on what they hear from Jesus.
This is a Resource Group I led/facilitated at the 2009 General Assembly of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Indianapolis, Indiana entitled, "The future is 'at the hyphen.'"
The Resource Group revolved around the Hispanic/Latino(a) experience in the United States, and how the Church is and/or is not responding to it.
This was a great time of sharing, learning, and healing.
Here is a description of the Resource Group:
In English & en Español
Coined by Justo Gonzalez, “at the hyphen” helps express the current state and future of Hispanic/Latino(a) people in the United States. Many Hispanic/Latino(a) children, youth, and adults born in the United States are struggling with their identity and language. Engage in a dialogue about this difficult, yet important topic.
This past Sunday was the final part of our series, "Transformed: from the inside out."
There was great feedback @ Arise as a result of this series teaching.
This presentation (part 3) begins where part 2 left off.
This was a study I did for Pentecost Sunday 2009 at Arise Christian Church, a new church start in Central Florida.
This presentation opened up the opportunity for people to ask questions and share thoughts and experiences. It was wonderful!
What is not included is a short video that was shared about translating the Bible in one's own language from Wycliffe Bible Translators.
As I have recently been talking with folks and meeting new people, I have heard a common thread of concern in their stories: transitions. This is a teaching I did at Arise Christian Church on Transitions, using Moses as an example.
The Book of Ruth is included in the third division, or the Writings, of the Hebrew Bible. In most Christian canons it is treated as one of the historical books and placed between Judges and 1 Samuel.

It seems that current missionary work requires spending a lot of money, preparing a lot of materials, and traveling to far away places, so that it feels like missionary work. But what was the result they brought back? It's just a lot of photos of activities, fun eating, drinking and some playing games. And then we have to do the same thing next year, never ending. The church once mentioned that a certain missionary would go to the field where she used to work before the end of his life. It seemed that if she had not gone, no one would be willing to go. The reason why these missionary work is so difficult is that no one obeys God’s words, and the Bible is not the main content during missionary work, because in the eyes of those who do not obey God’s words, the Bible is just words and cannot be connected with life, so Reading out God's words is boring because it doesn't have any life experience, so it cannot be connected with human life. I will give a few examples in the hope that this situation can be changed. A375
