Police Officer Baker Of The Suspects
According to Chesapeake Police Officer Noble and Officer Collins, the above petition was filed on
June 13, 2016, in Chesapeake, Virginia.
I located a stolen vehicle on 06/12/2016, at approximately 0930 hours at Copperstone Circle and
Copperstone Court in Chesapeake, Virginia. The vehicle is a 2015 DodgeCharger with Virginia
license plates of VEZ 1766. I took the initial report for the vehicle on 06/11/2016. It was assigned
case #16 78080. I stayed with the vehicle and did not let it out of my sight. I notified FTO Noble
that I had located the vehicle. He stated he was in route to the location. Prior to FTO Noble s
arrival Officer B. D. Baker arrived on scene and stated he had observed two black males that

I told both that I had seen them on CCTV footage walking into and out of the YMCA and then
walking to the Dodge Charger, entering it and leaving the parking lot. I asked Jalen if that sounded
right, he nodded his head. Jalen would later admit that he and Marlon went to the YMCA, signed
the guest information sheet using Marlon s brother s name of Adonte Burnell, and going into
lockers taking the keys and then taking the Dodge Charger. Jalen said he did not drive the Charger,
but Marlon did.
Jalen was placed in the rear of my marked Police vehicle. Prior to entering my vehicle, I completed
as search of Jalen s clothing. He had a cell phone charger in his left pocket and a cell phone in his
right pocket. I removed the cell phone and kept it in my possession. FTO Noble and Officer R.
Collins would later take the phone for evidence. Marlon was placed in the rear of Officer Baker s
marked Police vehicle. Both were transported to 1337 Copperstone Circle, where the vehicle was
located. I gathered Jalen s parent information at this time.
I spoke with Marlon about additional items in the vehicle the victims said should be in there. I
asked if the items would still be in the vehicle. Marlon said Probably not, but I didn t take them
he said there was seven other persons in the vehicle at some point. Marlon was asked what time he
parked the car on Copperstone Circle. He said between 10pm and midnight.
I spoke with Jalen about the items. He said he did not take

As long as Nick is leading this project, we see that his distractions will ultimately cause failure. He
is easily distracted and has no sense of what direction to proceed. Nick has some good ideas as
far as what they need to prepare for the online gaming to launch, such as he hardware and how
they will obtain bandwidth. The CanGo team also needs to decide if they are capable to take on
this project, since most members are not familiar with online gaming they need to decide if they
need to bring in outside help.

The CanGo organization is lacking a Project Budget. The group is disorganized and unsure if the
project can afford necessary equipment and resources required to complete the project. CanGo s
project team or the project manager needs to develop a project budget, including the goal of the
project budget. The project manager will use this budget to help determine if the project is on
track and the budget will be used by a number of personal as a guideline to fulfill project
milestones. Aspects that need to be considered and included in the project budget are employee
compensation, contract services such as hardware and software, equipment and supplies, and the

Gender Roles In Gender Socialization
Girls and boys both grow up being socialized on what is normal and unusual for their gender. At
a young age they are given the idea of what is expected of them based on whether they are male
or female. Toys are a prominent factor in this socialization, because they are typically presented for
one gender and are unacceptable for the other. To assess how toys playa role in gender socialization,
I made a trip to Toys R Us in College Station and surprisingly found that the gender beliefs have
changed quite a bit since I was a child in the late 90s to early 2000s. The first thing that went
through my mind when walking into the store was to look for the Girls and Boys signs that
would indicate to me which section was for which gender. There weren t any signs though! Toys
R Us had their aisles organized by categories such as arts crafts, travel systems, learning
education, bikes wheels, sports, and fun. In order to determine what aisle may be targeted to
one gender, I looked at what types of toys were in the aisles and what were the dominant colors in
each aisle. The aisles I assumed to be for girls were filled with lots of pink while boyaisles had
darker colors such as blue, green, orange, and dark purple. The majority of girltoys were composed
of beauty sets, dress up, and dolls whereas boy toys were super heroes, Legos, tools, and vehicles.
There wasn t a huge selection in gender neutral toys, but the ones offered were more on the
educational side. Most of the

The Increased Prison Population and Improper Punishment...
Social scientists and organizational psychologist have given additional acknowledgment to the
influence of social and cultural issues in organizational system (Carter, 2000, p. 2). This clearly
indicates that how these issues affect many fields of society and how important is their
resolution. Many key global events of the last decade have captured attention on issues of
nationalism and cultural diversities. As Hallinan and Jackson says, Within the context of the post
9/11 era a complex and arguably contradictory and paradoxical set of conditions, practices and
policies have emerged in relation to how we see, represent, understand and acknowledge the
diversity of Others (2008). In this paper, I have discussed issue of racism which our... Show more

Thousands of people are residing in United States prisons and jails, and they go untreated. The very
institutions which confines offenders, creates people with mental illness and drug addictions
disorders. Crime needs varying interventions targeting problem specific areas due to numerous
factors. The United States is the world leader in the increasing prison rate, in both as a percentage
of population and raw figures. As per a fresh report which employs data of each and every state,
a record 2,319,258 citizens were in prison or jail at the beginning of 2008; which means one
amongst every 99.1 adults. The increasing rate of prisoners do cost very high to the tax payers as
well as other plans of government. US government spent six times more on prison inmates than the
rate of increment for higher education expenditure. Another negative impact is that due to budget
shortfalls faced by states, they had made a proportionate reduction in expending on education and
other social requirement (Levinson 2002, p. 34). The rate of African Americans imprisonment is
radically greater than for the total population. A shocking ratio, one out of every nine black men
between the ages of 20 and 34 is in jail or prison. This raises the doubt about the racial disparity in
even police department. Supreme court Justice Kennedy warned that, There is the moral blindness

Mothers Against Drunk Driving Laws
If drunk driving laws were stricter there would be fewer death rates for intoxication
manslaughter around the world. More than 17,500 Americans lost their lives in drunk driving
accidents in 1993 and another 1,200,000 were injured, according to Mothers against Drunk
Driving. That is one death every 30 minutes, and an injury every 26 seconds. (USA today
magazine p.8). Sadly, those deaths would be preventable if we had more severe laws against
this issue. Drivers are aware of the laws and consequences, but they re not aware of how they are

The First Homeric Hymn Of Aphrodite
The first Homeric Hymn of Aphrodite tells the story of Aphrodite, the Greek goddess of love,
desire, and beauty. She is the daughter of Zeus and highly regarded among both immortals and
mortal men. The story recounts the power that Aphrodite possesses as well as the limitations of her
power. One limitation this hymn primarily focuses on is a situation in which Aphrodite is
humiliated. This myth utilizes strategies such as story structure and word choice in order to
describe how Aphrodite is humiliated.
The structure of a myth is imperative to understanding the sequence of a story. In this hymn, the
structure begins with discussing Aphrodite s beauty from lines 1 to 29. The remainder of the myth
discuss the situation that embarrasses Aphrodite. Already, the amount of time spent discussing both
perspectives of Aphrodite s narrative indicates that the story of her humiliation outweighs her
power. Additionally, the order in which the narrative is presented affects how each perspective is
received. Aphrodite s power is built up in the beginning of the narrative; she taught earthly men the
fashioning of chariots (7) and received a good share of honor (18) from her father Zeus. All of this is
outweighed when the hymn recounts the humiliation of Aphrodite where Zeus sent sweet desire
(29) that prompts her ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the First Homeric Hymn of Aphrodite, the structure of the narrative, in terms of organization and
word choice, directly influence how one interprets the text. Specifically, the amount of time spent
discussing both perspectives of the Aphrodite myth, lead me to believe that the limitation of her
power, by way of the story of her humiliation, outweigh the assertions of her power mentioned in the
beginning of this myth. In addition, the word choice and language used in the latter perspective
further my assessment that limitations of Aphrodite s power outweigh her actual

Similarities And Differences Between Romeo And Juliet And...
The memorable novel Romeo and Juliet, authored by the brilliancy of William Shakespeare
clashes with the theatrical film West Side Story, written by Arthur Laurents . When the two
films compare it s evident that both share a variety of similarities. To the extent of storylines,
characters and importantly themes. The main themes that interacts between the two worlds are
Love and Conflict which is illustrated amongst that characters as they mature along the story. To
roughly summarise both story plots, there are two equally match gangs in constant war
displayed in the public s eye, as both gangs start to make things heated, police intervene and
trying to stop the compiling complaints they decide to throw a party to cool down the
controversy. Both gangs end up dancing on the de same dance floor, accepting the fact just to
leave each other alone and enjoy the dance. But by faith these cross star lovers cross paths and
fall in love. But by the bad history between their gangs conflict rises and tries to conquer their
love. So essentially the focus is how both themes Love and Conflict converge within the both
worlds of R J and WSS. First we analyse the story between Romeo And Juliet displaying the act of
love. Two main gangs being The Montagues Capulets. At first we see the Montague boys and
Mercrutio getting ready to crash the massive party that the Capulets are throwing. Whilst slipping
into the party Romeo separates from his gang and ventures off only to stumble on a dame

Compare And Contrast Flat Tax Vs Progressive Tax
One of the controversial topics currently surrounds taxes and everyone has their own opinion on
who should be paying what. There are multiple different types of taxing systems that have been
proposed and two of the most talked about are Flat Tax and Progressive Tax. Flat Tax is a system
where the same taxrate is applied to every taxpayer despite what their income is. This system is
applied in eight US states as of 2016. Progressive Tax is a system where the tax rate increases
based on your level of income. It is essential the more you earn, the more you pay in taxes. In my
opinion, a progressive tax system is more efficient and more fair than a Flat Tax system.
To begin with, unlike the flat tax system, the progressive tax system would not ... Show more

A flat tax system is where there is a fixed set tax rate and everyone pays the same tax rate, no
matter their income. The main problem with this system is that it assumes that everyone has the
ability to pay that tax rate. It disregards individuals and families who are low income or are
living on government welfare and can t afford to pay that much in taxes alone. It benefits the
rich and is unfair to the rest of the population. One of the biggest disadvantages of this system is
that it cannot replace the current systems revenue. Half of our federal revenue comes from
income taxes. All of the pst proposals for a flat tax system have all failed to show that it could
bring in the same amount of revenue that our current system does. The flat tax system says that
the rate set would be a low rate, however that would not be possible because to achieve a high
revenue, the rate would have to be high. Many people have advocated for it in the past but to no
avail because majority of US citizens prefer the current

World Trade Center Collapse Case Study
So many changes had come about when the World Trade Center collapsed. Engineers and design
teams all across the country came together and wanted to make changes to buildings they build
today to reduce to number of fatalities and to have more means of egress in case of an emergency.
Not even years after the terriorist attacks, they came up with some changes that would help out the
situation and came up with some new safety regulations. Some of them include additional
stairways in buildings. More stairways in buildings is great when buildings exceed more than
1,000 plus people inside a buildingat one time. Having just one or two stairwells and having 1,000
plus people exiting will sometimes cause a hold up in getting out. Having more inside

typical of any American wrongdoing. That s why it wasn t in my US History book. They

Captain Ernest Medina ordered the Charlie Company, Task Force Baker, Eleventh Brigade of the

of Vietnam, near the South China Sea. Lt. William Calley led 150 fully armed and ready soldiers
into Son My villiage to destory the hamlet called My Lia. But it wasn t clear as what to do with
any civilians they encountered
(The My Lai Massacre). The Charlie Company soldiers were brought by helicopter (Gettleman).
The soldiers entered My Lai expecting fierce combat with a Viet Cong battalion believed to be at
My Lai. For the past three months the American unit had been in no major battles but had
suffered a lot of casualties from snipers, mines, and booby traps. The soldiers were ready to prove
themselves, ready to exact revenge on the enemy (The My Lai Massacre).

Evolution Of Superman Film
The posters for each superman film reflect the evolution of superman and filmic technology. Poster
three (man of steel) is most effective for advertising superhero films whereas poster two (
superman 1978) represents the idea of superman and this will be argued with close reference to the
respective Supermanfilmic posters .
The posters for Superman 1978 reflects the evolution of the Superman films to a limited extent as
this film was only the second set of Superman films .Superman (poster 2) also known as Clark Kent
still represents the comical and original idea of superman with the bright red and blue hues on the
costume, typical superhero image. More over the image of superman consisting of mostly good is

The poster shows a hint of character devepoment from the all good clichГ©d superman to a better
rounded character. This shown by the use of destroyed city6 background and as well as the ray of
sunlight behind superman and the use of a low angle shot that shows the strength of a character.
The usual superman saves the city all by himself notion is abolished in the poster with the use of
fighter jets in the background emphasising san event that is somewhat a national emergency in
which the man steel requires assistance. However poster 3 only show the fact that man of steel
might have become faster ( use of blurred buildings) and is experiencing some type off physical
strain. Which in this case aslo reflects on character development but other than that , the extent in
which poster three reflects on the evolution of Superman is limited.
In terms of filmic technology posters one and two show a limited amount limited comic
technology because of the comical look to the filmic posters. the costume which superman wears
in the second poster is mainly made of ordinary cloth which reiterates simplicity .where as in the
filmic posters for Man of steel show a lot of development in filmic technology as the poster(s)

Essay on Good Night and Good Luck
In Good Night and Good Luck, director George Clooney follows the conflict between outspoken
television journalist Edward R. Murrow and anti communist Senator Joseph McCarthy during the
hard times of the Red Scare. Murrow uses his television show to expose McCarthy s fallacious
arguments, while providing his own opinion on the matter. He begins by defending former Air
Force pilot Milo Radulovich as not being the Communist agent McCarthy charges him to be. Due
to his radical messages against McCarthy, advertisers begin pulling their advertisements. Thus
Good Night and Good Luck was placed at an undesired time slot on Sunday afternoons, and
allotted five last episodes. The conflict between Murrow and McCarthy is so deep that due to his...

The only variable evidence that McCarthy possesses for this claim is the knowledge that
Murrow has been a member of the leftist union Industrial Workers of the World, which Murrow
denies. (Clooney) This meager piece of evidence lacks enough substance to make a bold claim
labeling a pioneering journalist such as Murrow into Communism territory. Though he may have
been a member of this union, accusing Murrow of being a Communist solely due to his
membership is very narrow minded. The fact of the matter is that McCarthy continuously fails to
attest genuine testimony as to why he makes accusations again and again. Even though he may
seem outspoken in his approach, Murrow proves a valid point as he reveals the error in
McCarthy s thinking as he falsely accuses Radulovich of being a Communist. Due to lack of solid
evidence, McCarthy has no stance while accusing Radulovich. Though his sister s political leanings
suggest Communism, Radulovich can only speak for himself and not his sister. (Clooney)
Labeling Radulovich a communist, solely based on his family s alliances is synonymous with
claiming that Murrow is a Communist due to his membership in a leftist union. It seems like
McCarthy is on a witch hunt of sorts, out to call out anyone who goes against the government or
spoke ill of government practices. McCarthy orders the interrogation of Pentagon communication
worker Annie Lee Moss, solely based on her name appearing on a blacklist.

Reflection Paper About Mentoring
Mentoring: Perspectives from the ProtГ©gГ©s
My life, admittedly, has been one of grace and privilege. I was born into a loving home and grew
up attending church with my mother and two sisters. My father, while unsaved, was exemplary in
his provision for our family. To date, I have attended three excellent institutions of higher education
and currently am serving full time within a ministry of consequence one that actively seeks to
make disciples both locally and internationally. Throughout my life I have had men and women
mentor me. I thank God for my parents, for my coaches, for multiple Sunday school teachers,
employers, professors, and pastors who shared their life with me. I am indebted to them.

But most of all, I long for the affections of my heart and mind to reflect and resemble an authentic

ProtГ©gГ©s also verbalized that they simply want to know what is true. Their desire is to be led
from the text of Scripture and not only talk about truths but to understand the process of discovering
the truths for themselves. They do not want to just carry a denominational line, but to own the point
...to defend the Truth to their friends...to know the strength of our positions. They want to know the
truth, but they also want to own it.
This is both a challenge and a blessing to the mentor. The challenge is in being willing to hear the
protГ©gГ© s questions without offense and to answer them with wisdom, grace, and transparency.
The blessing is in seeing another life grow in a genuine love for Christ.
Authentic
Mentoring is effective when the mentor s words match their life choices. This is a necessary trait.
These non bifurcated mentors are the same inside the classroom as they are outside the classroom;
their lives are genuine, authentic, true, and consistent . The truth that is taught in church is also the
truth that is in their hearts.
Often the protГ©gГ© will watch for this trait during isolated moments of life... moments when life
is most uneventful. They watch how the way a mentor speaks to his/her children or their

The Negative and Positive Benefits of Fluoride
The ingestion of fluoride has been associated to benefits for the teeth. According to some
observers in the past, fluoride strengthens the enamel of the teeth making it not so susceptible to
cavities. From this hypothesis the fluoridation of water had its start and until today it is believed
to be one of the most responsible sources for reducing cavities in the population (Graham Morin,
1999). In some author s view the fluoridation of the water implies a significant change and the
positive effects can been seen in the so called post fluoridegeneration. In this generation the number
of adults without any teethhas dramatically declined and similar improvements can be observed in
the periodontal health в€’ related to gums and supporting structures of teeth в€’ (Milgrom Reisine,
2000). However the lack of consideration of fluoride s potential to be harmful to human s health is
questionable and studies have pointed out the dark side of this compound (Bryson, 2006). A study
conducted in the cities of Newburgh and Kingston, in New York have shown that the prevalence of
cavities in the population is similar or even less in communities that doesn t have artificial
fluoridated water compared to the ones that have fluoride add to the water. This study conducted
forty years ago is one considerable evidence that fluoridating the water isn t strongly necessary
nowadays to prevent tooth decay, considering that the access to fluoridated products, such as

the seven deadly sins, and Professor Nathan Lewis (Art and Design) spoke on how he influenced

Essay on Employee Empowerment
Abstract Empowerment is a simple idea, but often misunderstood or misused by many. It means
granting latitude of action for how the work is done to those who do the work. (R.E Sibson,
Strategic Planning for Human Resources Management). This paper will define, describe and
discuss Employee Empowerment used in today s team based organizations. The paper looks at how
this concept affects the company s diverse workforce. I will discuss the potential impact of these
practices and the performance. Employee Empowerment Employee empowerment can be described
as giving employees accountability and ability to make choices about their work without
managerial authorization. Good managers are expected to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Empowerment is the best way to promote a good long lasting employee customer relationship
(Fragoso, 1999). Empowerment can also bring certain benefits to employees of an organization. It
makes the employees give more input to company improvements; it promotes higher productivity,
and is a good balance between their personal and professional lives. It exercises employees minds
to find better solutions to problems on the job and increases the employees potential for
promotions and job satisfaction. It results in personal growth, feelings of confidence and control in
themselves and their companies. It makes workers utilize their potentials and it enables them to
stand behind their decisions, assume risks, participate and take actions. It is a win win win
situation: customers benefit from employees, organization benefit from the employees and the
customers, and employees benefit from higher confidence and self esteem (Fragoso, 1999). 10
steps to employee empowerment Step 1: Define the reason for change Managers should explain to
employees what empowerment is and how it could have an impact personally. Managers need to be
able to provide examples of what kind of authority the employee now has in making decisions. Will
it include the ability to resolve customer complaints or determine work and vacation schedules?
Alternatively, will empowerment be

Small Scale Industry
SMALL SCALE INDUSTRY INTRODUCTION The definition for small scale industrial
undertakings has changed over time. Initially they were classified into two categories those using
power with less than 50 employees and those not using power with the employee strength being
more than 50 but less than 100. However the capital resources invested on plant and machinery
buildings have been the primary criteria to differentiate the small scale industries from the large
and medium scale industries. An industrial unit can be categorized as a small scale unit if it fulfils
the capital investment limit fixed by the Government of India for the small scale sector. As per the

Karl Marx And The Bourgeoisie
Karl Marx infamous work called the Communist Manifesto has changed the way individuals see
their social statuses in a different types of societies. A bourgeoisie is known as the modern class
of capitalists. The bourgeoisie is a class of entrepreneurs, who fall under the class system
developed by the French. Individuals in this specific type of society are in charge of social
production and labor. The bourgeoisie have had an old antiquity with transforming how societies
view the market place. The upper hand which is being mentioned by Karl Marx, is the reference to
when the Bourgeoisie is given the power to control over a specific society. Although Karl Marx

Historical materialism plays a key role in deliberating the relations between economic production
and everything else that falls in society. Later in the Communist Manifesto, Karl Marx discusses
the concept of religion and how it ties into this image of capitalism. According to Marx,
capitalism is the worst situation any society can be placed with in. Religion plays another big role
in instigating materialism in such a society. Karl Marx adopted the concept of creating a division
of labor which works in a classless society, in order to determine which individual is capable of
what job. The transition between communism and capitalism involves the financing of personal
relations such as the relation of man and nature. The Proletariat, or also known as, the people go
hand in hand with the Bourgeoisie in a capitalist society. The justification of exploitation,

Polish Civilians During The World War II
At dawn on the morning of September 1st, 1939, German forces began their invasion and
subsequent occupation of Poland. Initially, the Nazi takeover did not appear to be quite as
dangerous or interruptive as many Poles expected it to be, particularly in urban locales such as
Warsaw. However, as the days went by, the German occupation became much more noticeable
within the daily lives of the Poles. Rations and other such restrictions were placed on the Polish
people, eliminating the remaining bits of pre occupation normalcy from their lives and forcing
any Pole who wanted to survive to circumvent the rules and regulations placed upon them by the
Germans. The greatest risk faced by Polish civilians was death, be it in a death camp or in the
cities and towns, where German forces managed to kill thousands of innocent, unlucky Poles.
Documenting these events were writers William L. Shirer, an American journalist, in his Berlin
Diary and Lucyna B. Radlo, a teenage girl from Poland, in her novel Between Two Evils. The
experiences of Polish civilians during the German occupation and the Poles transition from near
normalcy to near death within their daily lives model how a combination of hard work,
creativity, and a stroke of luck can be the key to survival. For the first few weeks of September in
1939, life for most Polish citizens didn t seem to be too out of the ordinary. Radlo, whose family
and friends were camped out in their Warsaw apartment, testifies to this, saying that

All I knew about Corpus Christi, Texas, before I visited my step daughter, Michelle, and her

They are the only species of sea turtle that routinely lays eggs during daytime hours. And, they
often do so en masse, during a fascinating spectacle called an arribada ( arrival in Spanish).
The nesting season runs from April to Mid July. And, sometime between about 45 to 70 days after
being laid, the eggs hatch, and the little ones make the perilous journey across the beach, into the
surf, and eventually to the open ocean, desperately dodging predators along the way. Their survival
at this point depends on sheer numbers and making it to the water before the hungry seagulls and
crabs can snatch them up.
Mature females (10 14 years old) that survive will eventually return to the beach on which they
were born to lay their own eggs. When these new hatchlings emerge, they must make their way
across the sand to the ocean, just as their mothers did, in order to imprint the scents of that
particular beach on the females. In this way, they will know where to return to continue this cycle
of life that has endured for over 45 million years.

Aristole s View on Drama
Preamble
Drama is an aspect of literature represented in performances and has been a part of the world for
many decades. Drama originated in classical Greece around the fifth century B.C. The earliest
performances took place in amphitheaters, which the Greeks invented to incorporate plays in their
religious and civic festivals. These Greek festivals were huge theatrical events filled with three
days of drama. The structure of the amphitheater allowed for an audience of thousands to observe
the theatrics and watch as the actors vie to win the drama competition. In addition, ancient Greek
theater used dramas to relay moral and political messages to their communities.

Shakespeare is said to have shaped the beginnings of modern day culture through his tragic plays by
introducing man as the tragic hero rather than the Gods. Although both Miller and Shakespeare
have modified the classic Greek tragedies in this manner they still fulfill Aristotle s definition of
tragedy in many ways.
Aristotle Vs Othello and Death of a Salesman Shakespeare s protagonist, Othello and Miller s
protagonist, Willy Lowman are both considered the tragic heroes in the play. Othello is a moor
and a general in Venetian army. He is experienced in battle and valued by the people. Since he is
this well respected military leader, the people listened and cared about what he had to say. One
instance of his high regard can be seen when one of the senators said, Here comes Barbantio and
the valiant Moor , (Act I scene 3). With Othello overcoming racist Venice and managing to gain
this high status in the community, Aristotle s first requirement for a tragic hero is fulfilled.
However, many would argue that in Millers play, Willy Lowman s character stretches the
definition of a tragic hero. Since Willy Lowman was a mere salesman struggling to seize the
American dream he would definitely not be considered a man of high status. Although Willy
Lowman did hold one honorable position and that was head of the household. This is illustrated
during a conversation that Willy s wife Linda has with their son Biff. Linda Says No. You can t

Most of the research on interpersonal attraction has been carried out in Western societies, especially

this context considerably differs from one culture to another. Therefore we can readily accept that

have found that most men of most cultures find the hour glass shape attractive as it is shows a

men tend to value physical attractiveness and favour a younger partner, whereas women prefer
status and favour an older partner. This is all consistent with the theory of socio biology.
In North America and Western Europe homosexuality is generally accepted, however, in some
countries it is illegal. In East Bay, Melanesia, it is encouraged to the extent that during
adolescence a father will choose an older male partner for his son to educate him in sexual

women have the same right to derive pleasure from sex as men, but the Chiricahua Apache

believe a sexually passive wife is more likely to remain faithful (Lewis 1960).

The Thing In The Apartment By John William Ross
Since the first sound film in 1927, filmmakers employed tools to create sound effects and complete
the illusion (Cavalcanti, 1939). The use of sound became essential to the quality of films,
particularly in fiction where the audience seeks entertainment and thrill. Indeed, Rockett (1982)
notes that music, background noises and sounds effects are the elements creating a particular mood
or atmosphere.
This theory is notably applicable to the horror genre, as its specificity is to incite fear and play on
the viewer s nerves. According to Rockett, horror is indeed primarily a sound based medium (1982).
Horror films sounds play with emotions, for instance with abrupt shifts up and down in pitch. As
Gron states, these sound contrasts function as priming mechanisms , playing with spectators
expectations of the scare (2013). These theories lead to the importance of recognising what makes
an efficient sound track to frighten the audience. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Examples Of Greed In Mcteague
Written in 1899, Frank Norris novel, McTeague serves as a view of societal factions of his time
period. Norris illustrates the stratification of society in this San Francisco community by using the
concept of Social Darwinism. He gives detailed accounts of the inner workings of society along
with the emotions of the time. Through his characters, Norrisshows the separation of classes and the
greed that grew abundantly during the late 19th century. He also gives a grim picture of survival in
his depiction of the theory of natural selection.
In the first chapter, Norris paints a picture of a town setting. He describes Polk Street as
one of those cross streets peculiar to Western cities, situated in the heart of the residence quarter,...

These people are separated by their occupation, which also determines their activity on Polk Street.
In noticing this activity, one can see the distinct lines drawn between the workers and the wealthy.
Also, in this story of greed and deception told, the reader can see the underlying greed of the
working class. The characters of Maria Macapa and Zerkow ooze greed from every pore. At the
beginning of the novel, Maria can be found going through the tenant s apartments for junk to turn
in to Zerkow for payment. Once there, she delights in telling the story of her family s former
fortune concentrating on a gold plate, for which Zerkow drools over the mere thought of. It is in
this scene that the reader also learns of the obsession

current world affairs. The whole world is threatened by terrorist attacks of different types by
different terrorist organizations. The terrorist groups have been using various strategies to
pressurize the world to fulfill their demands. Their strategies include bomb blasts, murders,
kidnapping and damage to property. Currently Al Qaeda is the most talked about Islamic terrorist

They also tried to blow up a British aircraft carrier. The plan was unsuccessful. In 1997 the group
again gained success by killing a British shipping tycoon Costis Peraticos. In 1999 German
embassy in Athens was targeted by a bomb. According to the US Department of State
information on terrorist groups (n.d.) the group supports itself largely through bank robberies.
MAJOR BREAKTHROUGH: On June 29, 2002 the Greek police managed to arrest a member
of the N 17 group. According to an on line report by KATHIMERINI titled Judgment Day for N
17 (December 17, 2003) the arrest was made due to an unsuccessful operation on part of the N
17 group. The suspect, Sawas Xeros, was interrogated by Scotland Yard and the local police. His
testimony led the police to two safe houses. Following the link six more members of the group
were arrested which included two brothers of Sawas. The police also came to know about the
leader of the group, a 58 year old professor Alexandrous Giotopoulos. He was arrested from the
island of Lipsi in July 2002. On September 5th, 2002 the Chief of Operations of N 17 group,
Koufodinas, surrendered before the police. The Greek courts charged 19 members of the group
for approximately 2500 crimes. Because of the limitations of the Greek law crimes before 1984

Persuasive Essay On Child Pregnancy
The pregnancy for nine months had been completely normal and healthy. The parents chose not
to have prenatal genetic testing done. When Noah was born, he was rushed away for hours. The
pediatrician came and broke the news to the parents. They wailed and cried for their boy when
the words Down syndrome were spoken. This was a complete shock; no one was prepared. The
second Noah was brought into the room, however, love and excitement completely filled the room.
The parents were expecting a beautiful little boy, and that is what they received. Their journey
would be different from a normal, healthy child, but still amazing. They still celebrated and loved
this new life which they had brought into the world ( Noah s Birth Story ). Another mother, Chloe,
did not have genetic testing done in her first pregnancybecause she told herself there would be no
point because abortion was not an option. The second pregnancy, however, something was
different. Chloe had been gaining extra weight, and there were small signs of Down syndrome. Her
midwife suggested that she have prenatal genetic tests done. The hard part came when the positive
results came back. Neither Chloe nor her partner wanted their unborn son Tommy to live with any
disabilities or struggles. Due to the diagnosis and after much consideration, they made the decision
to terminate the pregnancy at nineteen weeks. Chloe said it was the most heart wrenching
experience of her life. Even with the support and love of friends and

Propagation Medium Porosity and Ficus pumila Propagation Success
Introduction:
Creeping fig (Ficus pumila) is a perennial vining plant native to Asia (Liang et al., 2012). The
creeping fig has been used for many centuries in Chinese folk medicine to treat a host of illnesses
including but not limited to inflammation, diabetes, dizziness and high blood pressure(Liang et al.,
2012). The fruits have also been harvested for their natural pectin s, which are extracted in water
to create a thick liquid that is considered a Chinese delicacy (Liang et al., 2012). Ficus pumila is
widely used in the land scape to control erosion on sloped ground. Its growth habit being low

This experiment investigated the effects of various propagation media on rooting success in Ficus
pumila, the results of this experiment will allow propagators to make more educated evaluations of
the media they use in the propagation of commercial crops, increasing propagation success, and
ultimately increase the quantity and quality of the plants propagated leading to higher economic
return.
Materials and Methods: The physical properties of bulk density, water holding capacity and
aeration porosity of various soilless media were determined with the following experiment to create
a baseline for further interpretation of the effects of media on rooting.
Materials1:
4.5 pot
Tape
Digital scale

The education of students with disabilities has changed over the years. During the B.C. era
students with disabilities were consider a disgrace, were shun by society, and the Greek
philosopher Aristotle openly declared, As to the exposure and rearing of children, let there be a
law that no deformed child shall live (Hardman, Drew, amp; Egan, 2009, p. 4)

I also predict that schools receiving federal funds will use those funds accordingly and help educate
their teachers so they can educate their students with the same level of expectations, and because
students with special needs require more attention the special education class are outlined to meet
those needs by aiming to provide more assistance and attention.
As for my personal encounter of individual with a disability; the grew up around a cousin who
was with brain damage, as a kid I would go over to aunt s home and sit with him and read books;
I would massage his hands and feet because he would have seizures and I would see my aunt
doing it so I just picked up on what the adults were doing and try to help out. Even though he
could not talk I felt he could hear what I was saying because one time I was reading a book called
Henrietta Hippo and I would act the scenes and whenever I made the sound of the hippo he would
look at me and make a funny sound like he was trying to repeat what I was doing.
Another encounter I had just recently was while subbing at the local school district I got a
chance to work with a group of Pre K students and one of them was a cute little girl that has
dwarfism; she is five years old and she is very independent she picks up her toys when she is
finished playing and we created bunny ear hat bands and she was one of the few that actually

Windshield Repair
Having clear visibility is one of the most crucial aspects of driving. The windshield is the
structure that provides vision, so when it s damaged, driving becomes increasingly challenging
and dangerous. There is no question that Autoglass Xpress of St. Louis, MO, is the Show Me
State s top windshield repair specialist. Windshield repair is often required after car accidents,
both minor and major. Sometimes, the damage occurs through acts of vandalism. No matter what
the cause, it would be wise to give Autoglass Xpress a call if you notice any problems with the
glass. Many drivers tend to ignore small cracks and put off the windshield repair, figuring that they
can get by. The problem with that theory is that small cracks will grow over time.

Character Analysis Of Bonnie And Clyde
Everyone has heard of the notorious robbers Bonnie and Clyde. Most people know the general
story of what happened from the movie produced about them, but few really understand the
morals behind the couple. Just like with most celebrities, their story has been distorted to for a
more entertaining purpose; movies. We as humans, tend to glorify celebrities, even if they were
bank robbers and killers. A major example of how we glorify celebrities can be seen by looking at
historical figures Bonnie and ClydeBarrow.
In the movie, Bonnie and Clyde are seen as the protagonists of the movie. The way the directors
set up the script makes you fall in love with the characters. It s one way to get you to feel
emotion at the end when, spoiler alert, they are killed. The movie is set up in a way to get you to
sympathize with the characters. If you knew the real story, you might not feel so sympathetic.
Barrow was suspected of numerous killings and was wanted for murder, robbery, and state charges
of kidnapping ( Bonnie and Clyde 1). They were well known for their robberies and murders.
They were believed to have committed 13 murders within their four year spree; most of whom
were law enforcers.
At the time they were killed in 1934, they were believed to have committed 13 murders and
several robberies and burglaries. Barrow, for example, was suspected of murdering two police
officers at Joplin, Missouri and kidnapping a man and a woman in rural Louisiana. He released

The Ineffectiveness of Education Reform Essay
On January 8, 2002 President Bush signed into law the Leave No Child Behind Act, which
significantly changes how public schools receive federal funding. This bipartisan supported attempt
at reform, the first of this magnitude since the Elementary Secondary Education Act of 1965, shows
a dedicated concern to improving education. However, it is not plausible a punishment/rewards
system will positively improve schoolson a large scale as a nationwide policy should.
President Bush s apparent prioritizing of schools is the positive stance for the federal government
to take on this issue, especially at a time when domestic concerns could be overshadowed by
global tensions and war activities. At first glance, one may be reassured by the ... Show more

This education policy was conceived at a time of prosperity, so whether the government continues to
increase spending remains to be seen.
The new legislation focuses on a pertinent aspect of education, raising standards for students, but
determining funding by test scores does not guarantee widespread results. This new policy relies
on the threat tactic of schools improving for fear of federal funding being reduced; if a school does
not meet the new standards, how will reducing funding improve it? The government will continue
funding school districts which are already capable of invoking sufficient test scores, while cutting
back funding to the districts which can not, offering the alternative of government funded
transportation to another school. This is the legislation s flaw: it should be teachers taking
proficiency tests periodically to display their qualifications in order to remain teaching. Most
teachers are dedicated to their own education, and so would not likely oppose such a policy. Instead
we have the federal government holding funding with the justification of accountability over school
districts, demanding improved test scores.
This criticism is rooted in both skepticism towards the policy s effectiveness, and confidence in an
alternative potential solution: the government could radically change the profession of teaching
/education by establishing a national base salary which would consequently mean an overall raise in

Homework In High School
Now onto fourth grade when old friends were leaving and new friends were arriving, and our

was the State Project , and so I picked Missouri because that summer before I went to St. Louis.
At this point in my life I was still growing, in height, but I was literally a string bean (really
skinny) and very dysfunctional; that didn t stop me from playing basketball though. I was ok at
basketball in the fourth grade, but I was zooming down the court like a wild child, now a days I

I thought band was the coolest thing ever so I chose to be in band; but little did I know that I

Persian Mausoleum Essay
Creating A Persian Mausoleum
This essay is a How To guide on how to make a Persian Mausoleum. The most well known
Mausoleum is Cyrus the Great s. Creating a Mausoleum of the same style as Cyrus the Great s is
simple and easy. Even with all the technology of the time the tomb is both minimalistic and modest.
The real wealth of the tomb was the treasure that was placed inside. The building of the tomb was
easy and simplistic to erect. In this guide you ll see its resemblance to the Egyptian pyramid design.
The scale of the structure is much smaller than the Egyptian tombs but serves the same purpose.
The structure also was as significant to the Persians as much as the pyramids to the Egyptians.
To begin with, the structure was made of limestone rectangles which were carved and placed
together to form a step like structure. There are seven pyramid succeeding steps which are irregular
in shape. The seven stones are significant in that they were ... Show more content on

Essay On Congo Genocide
In the past, many incidents of genocide have occurred, like the Armenian genocide or the Rwandan
genocide. While these incidents may seem unrelated to current times, similar incidents are starting
to occur in many parts of the world and one such place is Congo. Many sources hint that the
conflict that occurs in Congo is a genocide because many elements of genocide appear in the
conflict like classification or dehumanization. While what they say has some truth in the sense that
this conflict contains some element of genocide but, not enough elements are present to make it a
genocide. Although many would believe that the conflict in Congo is a genocide, there is evidence
of the conflict being a territorial and power dispute because some countries invading Congo want
the resources, others want power, and the cause of the conflict in Congo is the aftermath of the
Rwandan genocide. First of all, the conflict in Congo is a territorial dispute because sources
mention that the people invading want access to Congo s plentiful resources.... Show more content

Surrogate Motherhood Essay
Surrogate motherhood refers to that condition of a fertile (footnote) woman who has been
contracted to become impregnated via reproductive technologies such as donor or artificial
insemination. It is that condition wherein that fertile woman also has agreed to transfer her rights
on the child to the biological parents after giving birth. This is bounded by a contract that was
signed by the contracting parents and the surrogate. The reasons for this generally fall into two
categories. Either the contracting couple is unable to produce a child or they would prefer to
eliminate or enhance certain genetic traits. My argument would apply to either case. For the
purpose of this paper, the motivations are irrelevant and the logic following... Show more content on

It is also said that with this type of surrogacy, the intended mother enters into a step parent type of
adoption (Canadian Surrogacy Options, Inc). Lastly, egg donation, would refer to the condition or

the purposes of this discussion, each of these engages in the commidification of the reproductive
agency and human reproduction by legally and socially justifying a condition in which this capacity
may become fungible.

Mother s egg, father s sperm this type of surrogacy is usually employed in cases wherein the
mother is not capable of carrying a fertilized egg for medical reasons.
Donor egg, father s sperm a type of surrogacy that is employed when there is doubt on the quality

Space Probes Research Paper
The Investigation of the Large Outer Planets by the Space Probes, Voyager 1 and 2 and Casini
The space probes voyager 1 and 2 were set off in 1977 on August the 20th and september the 5th
from the NASA Kennedy Space Center at Cape Canaveral, Florida. This was because the suitable
conditions for their mission wold not reoccur for approximately another 175 years. These
conditions were that the planets were aligned in a certain way that would allow the probes to use
specific planets to propel the probes further out into space.
Due to the distance these probes traveled from the sun, solar energy was unable to be used as a
power source. Instead the probes relied on the gravitational forces of the planets to propel them.
This was able to happen because of a rare geometric arrangement of the planets in the late 1970s.
The flybys that the spacecraft did of the outer planets would utilise the gravitational forces of the
planets to sufficiently bend the course and increase the velocity of the probes so that they could
reach their next destination. The probes were at first only designed to flyby Jupiter and Saturn, even
though a four planet mission was known to be possible. This was at first rejected because it was
believed it would be too expensive. More than 10,000 trajectories had to be studied before two
were chosen that would allow close flybys of Jupiter and its moon Io, and Saturn and its moon Titan.

I told both that I had seen them on CCTV footage walking into and out of the YMCA and then walking to the Dodge Charger, entering it and leaving the parking lot. I asked Jalen if that sounded right, he nodded his head. Jalen would later admit that he and Marlon went to the YMCA, signed the guest information sheet using Marlon s brother s name of Adonte Burnell, and going into lockers taking the keys and then taking the Dodge Charger. Jalen said he did not drive the Charger, but Marlon did. Jalen was placed in the rear of my marked Police vehicle. Prior to entering my vehicle, I completed as search of Jalen s clothing. He had a cell phone charger in his left pocket and a cell phone in his right pocket. I removed the cell phone and kept it in my possession. FTO Noble and Officer R. Collins would later take the phone for evidence. Marlon was placed in the rear of Officer Baker s marked Police vehicle. Both were transported to 1337 Copperstone Circle, where the vehicle was located. I gathered Jalen s parent information at this time. I spoke with Marlon about additional items in the vehicle the victims said should be in there. I asked if the items would still be in the vehicle. Marlon said Probably not, but I didn t take them he said there was seven other persons in the vehicle at some point. Marlon was asked what time he parked the car on Copperstone Circle. • 5. Gender Roles In Gender Socialization Girls and boys both grow up being socialized on what is normal and unusual for their gender. At a young age they are given the idea of what is expected of them based on whether they are male or female. Toys are a prominent factor in this socialization, because they are typically presented for one gender and are unacceptable for the other. To assess how toys playa role in gender socialization, I made a trip to Toys R Us in College Station and surprisingly found that the gender beliefs have changed quite a bit since I was a child in the late 90s to early 2000s. The first thing that went through my mind when walking into the store was to look for the Girls and Boys signs that would indicate to me which section was for which gender. There weren t any signs though! Toys R Us had their aisles organized by categories such as arts crafts, travel systems, learning education, bikes wheels, sports, and fun. In order to determine what aisle may be targeted to one gender, I looked at what types of toys were in the aisles and what were the dominant colors in each aisle. The aisles I assumed to be for girls were filled with lots of pink while boyaisles had darker colors such as blue, green, orange, and dark purple. The majority of girltoys were composed of beauty sets, dress up, and dolls whereas boy toys were super heroes, Legos, tools, and vehicles. There wasn t a huge selection in gender neutral toys, but the ones offered were more on the educational side. Most of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Social scientists and organizational psychologist have given additional acknowledgment to the influence of social and cultural issues in organizational system (Carter, 2000, p. 2). This clearly indicates that how these issues affect many fields of society and how important is their resolution. Many key global events of the last decade have captured attention on issues of nationalism and cultural diversities. As Hallinan and Jackson says, Within the context of the post 9/11 era a complex and arguably contradictory and paradoxical set of conditions, practices and policies have emerged in relation to how we see, represent, understand and acknowledge the diversity of Others (2008). The very institutions which confines offenders, creates people with mental illness and drug addictions disorders. Crime needs varying interventions targeting problem specific areas due to numerous factors. The United States is the world leader in the increasing prison rate, in both as a percentage of population and raw figures. As per a fresh report which employs data of each and every state, a record 2,319,258 citizens were in prison or jail at the beginning of 2008; which means one amongst every 99.1 adults. The increasing rate of prisoners do cost very high to the tax payers as well as other plans of government. US government spent six times more on prison inmates than the rate of increment for higher education expenditure. Another negative impact is that due to budget shortfalls faced by states, they had made a proportionate reduction in expending on education and other social requirement (Levinson 2002, p. 34). The rate of African Americans imprisonment is radically greater than for the total population. A shocking ratio, one out of every nine black men between the ages of 20 and 34 is in jail or prison. This raises the doubt about the racial disparity in even police department. Supreme court Justice Kennedy warned that, There is the moral blindness in our criminal justice ... That is one death every 30 minutes, and an injury every 26 seconds. (USA today magazine p.8). Sadly, those deaths would be preventable if we had more severe laws against this issue. • 8. The First Homeric Hymn Of Aphrodite The first Homeric Hymn of Aphrodite tells the story of Aphrodite, the Greek goddess of love, desire, and beauty. She is the daughter of Zeus and highly regarded among both immortals and mortal men. The story recounts the power that Aphrodite possesses as well as the limitations of her power. One limitation this hymn primarily focuses on is a situation in which Aphrodite is humiliated. This myth utilizes strategies such as story structure and word choice in order to describe how Aphrodite is humiliated. The structure of a myth is imperative to understanding the sequence of a story. In this hymn, the structure begins with discussing Aphrodite s beauty from lines 1 to 29. The remainder of the myth discuss the situation that embarrasses Aphrodite. Already, the amount of time spent discussing both perspectives of Aphrodite s narrative indicates that the story of her humiliation outweighs her power. Additionally, the order in which the narrative is presented affects how each perspective is received. Aphrodite s power is built up in the beginning of the narrative; she taught earthly men the fashioning of chariots (7) and received a good share of honor (18) from her father Zeus. All of this is outweighed when the hymn recounts the humiliation of Aphrodite where Zeus sent sweet desire (29) that prompts her ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are multiple different types of taxing systems that have been proposed and two of the most talked about are Flat Tax and Progressive Tax. Flat Tax is a system where the same taxrate is applied to every taxpayer despite what their income is. This system is applied in eight US states as of 2016. Progressive Tax is a system where the tax rate increases based on your level of income. It is essential the more you earn, the more you pay in taxes. It benefits the rich and is unfair to the rest of the population. One of the biggest disadvantages of this system is that it cannot replace the current systems revenue. Half of our federal revenue comes from income taxes. All of the pst proposals for a flat tax system have all failed to show that it could bring in the same amount of revenue that our current system does. The flat tax system says that the rate set would be a low rate, however that would not be possible because to achieve a high revenue, the rate would have to be high. Though he may have been a member of this union, accusing Murrow of being a Communist solely due to his membership is very narrow minded. • 19. The Negative and Positive Benefits of Fluoride The ingestion of fluoride has been associated to benefits for the teeth. According to some observers in the past, fluoride strengthens the enamel of the teeth making it not so susceptible to cavities. From this hypothesis the fluoridation of water had its start and until today it is believed to be one of the most responsible sources for reducing cavities in the population (Graham Morin, 1999). In some author s view the fluoridation of the water implies a significant change and the positive effects can been seen in the so called post fluoridegeneration. In this generation the number of adults without any teethhas dramatically declined and similar improvements can be observed in the periodontal health в€’ related to gums and supporting structures of teeth в€’ (Milgrom Reisine, 2000). However the lack of consideration of fluoride s potential to be harmful to human s health is questionable and studies have pointed out the dark side of this compound (Bryson, 2006). A study conducted in the cities of Newburgh and Kingston, in New York have shown that the prevalence of cavities in the population is similar or even less in communities that doesn t have artificial fluoridated water compared to the ones that have fluoride add to the water. Initially, the Nazi takeover did not appear to be quite as dangerous or interruptive as many Poles expected it to be, particularly in urban locales such as Warsaw. However, as the days went by, the German occupation became much more noticeable within the daily lives of the Poles. Rations and other such restrictions were placed on the Polish people, eliminating the remaining bits of pre occupation normalcy from their lives and forcing any Pole who wanted to survive to circumvent the rules and regulations placed upon them by the Germans. The greatest risk faced by Polish civilians was death, be it in a death camp or in the cities and towns, where German forces managed to kill thousands of innocent, unlucky Poles. Documenting these events were writers William L. Shirer, an American journalist, in his Berlin Diary and Lucyna B. Radlo, a teenage girl from Poland, in her novel Between Two Evils. • 30. Aristole s View on Drama Preamble Drama is an aspect of literature represented in performances and has been a part of the world for many decades. Drama originated in classical Greece around the fifth century B.C. The earliest performances took place in amphitheaters, which the Greeks invented to incorporate plays in their religious and civic festivals. These Greek festivals were huge theatrical events filled with three days of drama. The structure of the amphitheater allowed for an audience of thousands to observe the theatrics and watch as the actors vie to win the drama competition. In addition, ancient Greek theater used dramas to relay moral and political messages to their communities. There are two different categories of drama: comedy and tragedy. Greek ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Shakespeare is said to have shaped the beginnings of modern day culture through his tragic plays by introducing man as the tragic hero rather than the Gods. Although both Miller and Shakespeare have modified the classic Greek tragedies in this manner they still fulfill Aristotle s definition of tragedy in many ways. Aristotle Vs Othello and Death of a Salesman Shakespeare s protagonist, Othello and Miller s protagonist, Willy Lowman are both considered the tragic heroes in the play. Othello is a moor and a general in Venetian army. He is experienced in battle and valued by the people. Since he is this well respected military leader, the people listened and cared about what he had to say. One instance of his high regard can be seen when one of the senators said, Here comes Barbantio and the valiant Moor , (Act I scene 3). With Othello overcoming racist Venice and managing to gain this high status in the community, Aristotle s first requirement for a tragic hero is fulfilled. However, many would argue that in Millers play, Willy Lowman s character stretches the definition of a tragic hero. Since Willy Lowman was a mere salesman struggling to seize the American dream he would definitely not be considered a man of high status. Although Willy Lowman did hold one honorable position and that was head of the household. This is illustrated during a conversation that Willy s wife Linda has with their son Biff. Differences in Relationships Between Western and Non Western Cultures Most of the research on interpersonal attraction has been carried out in Western societies, especially the United Kingdom and United States. • 35. The Thing In The Apartment By John William Ross Since the first sound film in 1927, filmmakers employed tools to create sound effects and complete the illusion (Cavalcanti, 1939). The use of sound became essential to the quality of films, particularly in fiction where the audience seeks entertainment and thrill. Indeed, Rockett (1982) notes that music, background noises and sounds effects are the elements creating a particular mood or atmosphere. This theory is notably applicable to the horror genre, as its specificity is to incite fear and play on the viewer s nerves. According to Rockett, horror is indeed primarily a sound based medium (1982). Horror films sounds play with emotions, for instance with abrupt shifts up and down in pitch. As Gron states, these sound contrasts function as priming mechanisms , playing with spectators expectations of the scare (2013). The government will continue funding school districts which are already capable of invoking sufficient test scores, while cutting back funding to the districts which can not, offering the alternative of government funded transportation to another school. Instead we have the federal government holding funding with the justification of accountability over school districts, demanding improved test scores. • 50. Essay On Congo Genocide In the past, many incidents of genocide have occurred, like the Armenian genocide or the Rwandan genocide. While these incidents may seem unrelated to current times, similar incidents are starting to occur in many parts of the world and one such place is Congo. Many sources hint that the conflict that occurs in Congo is a genocide because many elements of genocide appear in the conflict like classification or dehumanization. While what they say has some truth in the sense that this conflict contains some element of genocide but, not enough elements are present to make it a genocide. Although many would believe that the conflict in Congo is a genocide, there is evidence of the conflict being a territorial and power dispute because some countries invading Congo want the resources, others want power, and the cause of the conflict in Congo is the aftermath of the Rwandan genocide. First of all, the conflict in Congo is a territorial dispute because sources mention that the people invading want access to Congo s plentiful resources.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After the Tutsis defeated the Hutus, they went to Congo in order to escape from the Tutsis, which is the result of the Rwandan genocide. After the Hutus escaped to Congo, they caused trouble in Congo. They began to attack DR Congo s sizeable population of ethnic Tutsis which shows that the conflict in caused by the Hutus that came from Rwanda, not from Congo itself. Therefore, the cause of this genocide like conflict is not a genocide that is starting in Congo, but merely the leftovers of another genocide. • 51. Surrogate Motherhood Essay Surrogate motherhood refers to that condition of a fertile (footnote) woman who has been contracted to become impregnated via reproductive technologies such as donor or artificial insemination. It is that condition wherein that fertile woman also has agreed to transfer her rights on the child to the biological parents after giving birth. This is bounded by a contract that was signed by the contracting parents and the surrogate. The reasons for this generally fall into two categories. Either the contracting couple is unable to produce a child or they would prefer to eliminate or enhance certain genetic traits. My argument would apply to either case. For the purpose of this paper, the motivations are irrelevant and the logic following... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is also said that with this type of surrogacy, the intended mother enters into a step parent type of adoption (Canadian Surrogacy Options, Inc). Lastly, egg donation, would refer to the condition or process of maintaining a database for potential egg donors (Canadian Surrogacy Options, Inc.) For the purposes of this discussion, each of these engages in the commidification of the reproductive agency and human reproduction by legally and socially justifying a condition in which this capacity may become fungible. (FOOT NOTE) Mother s egg, father s sperm this type of surrogacy is usually employed in cases wherein the mother is not capable of carrying a fertilized egg for medical reasons. Donor egg, father s sperm a type of surrogacy that is employed when there is doubt on the quality of the egg or there are no available ovaries for fertilization. Mother s egg, donor sperm this is the opposite of donor egg, father s sperm. This is actually taken into consideration when there is doubt in the quality of the father s sperm. Donor egg, donor sperm is the type of surrogacy chosen by intended parents who would want to establish a genetic link with the child. Surrogate motherhood became popular in the 1980 s. This was popularized by the case of Baby M, which primarily dealt on the ethical issues raised regarding reproductive ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 52. Space Probes Research Paper The Investigation of the Large Outer Planets by the Space Probes, Voyager 1 and 2 and Casini The space probes voyager 1 and 2 were set off in 1977 on August the 20th and september the 5th from the NASA Kennedy Space Center at Cape Canaveral, Florida. This was because the suitable conditions for their mission wold not reoccur for approximately another 175 years. These conditions were that the planets were aligned in a certain way that would allow the probes to use specific planets to propel the probes further out into space. Due to the distance these probes traveled from the sun, solar energy was unable to be used as a power source. Instead the probes relied on the gravitational forces of the planets to propel them. This was able to happen because of a rare geometric arrangement of the planets in the late 1970s. The flybys that the spacecraft did of the outer planets would utilise the gravitational forces of the planets to sufficiently bend the course and increase the velocity of the probes so that they could reach their next destination. The probes were at first only designed to flyby Jupiter and Saturn, even though a four planet mission was known to be possible. This was at first rejected because it was believed it would be too expensive. More than 10,000 trajectories had to be studied before two were chosen that would allow close flybys of Jupiter and its moon Io, and Saturn and its moon Titan. ...
