Edgar Wright
Edgar Wright Hot Fuzz and Shaun of the Dead By Brearna Sandri
Shaun of the Dead
In this close viewing I will be using the films Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz, directed by Edgar
Wright, to show significant aspects/techniques of different scenes used in both films. I will be
focusing on the features of sound effects, dialogue and comparing near same scenes within two
different films and the aspects that Edgar Wright was trying to cover.
Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz both have fence jumping scenes. In Shaun of the Dead, the scene is
opened with Shaun opening the gate quite forcefully along with the rest of his team. Shaun says The
Winchester s just over there and David says in a sarcastic tone, Just over there behind the 20 garden
fences? When David is saying the last bit of his sentence the camera pans over the fences in which
they have to jump to show audiences what they have to jump over. For example, to show why David is
being sarcastic towards Shaun, and why it s being used in that particular scene, Shaun then says What
s the matter, David? Never taken a shortcut before? , and smirks while turning behind, and tries to
jump over the fence but ends up making the fence fall over. He then picks himself back up and subtly
tries to make it seem like he didn t just break the fence. The background noise in this scene is filled
with car alarms, house alarms and deep music/sound effects. This creates the effect of a crisis
situation, as they are in a zombie apocalypse.

Napoleon s Warfare Strategies And Tactics On Modern Day...
Napoleon Bonaparte is credited with being a great military tactician as well as a military genius during
his era. He played a significant role in world history and the art of war. The man s genius was
fundamentally practical, and all the military concepts he used were attributed to his close study that he
did of his earlier commanders, predominantly Fredrick the Great. He did not trust any novel idea and
thus by no means used other people s concepts. He made the fullest utilization of the notions of his
predecessors, which he breathed life into them making them successful. Napoleon had to be strategic
in order to be victorious in his conquests. The skills, strategies and tactics he used in the battlegrounds
were desired and thus copied by many during his era and up today. Warfare especially during the
Napoleonic era fundamentally changed modern warfare and continues to be the main reason the
military studies Napoleon today. It impacted the battles of today. This essay s main purpose is to point
out the impacts of Napoleon s warfare strategies and tactics on modern day warfare. It will analyze the
principles Napoleon used during his era, and they include the theory of nationalism, creation of the
corps system and leading disciplined and professional armies.
The principle of the theory of nationalism is all about being patriotic. Napoleon used this principle
during his time and it is highly implemented by military today. Nationalism refers to being loyal and

The Day Of National Parks
The outdoors, there s something about being outside and the beauty of the forest, glaciers, oceans, and
vast wilderness that draws humanity to it. Could it be getting back to our natural state or just trying to
connect with God s creation? Either way Millions of people travel to National Parks a year: 3 million
traveled to yellowstone alone in 2015 (Visser). But sadly not all of them have favorable trips; in 2007
the National Park Service reported 3,593 search and rescue missions or SAR missions (National
Parks). The average budget for SAR missions is $200,000 and each year that is exceeded. The solution
is charge the bill of the mission to the one in need of being rescued. Now this would not apply in
every case, there are times no matter how hard you prepared or how careful you were trouble still
comes your way. For these missions you won t be billed, but if you go past marked barriers, not
properly equipped, or have been medically prescribed not to do vigouroux exercise then you will be
billed for the cost of your rescue.
On Grouse Mountain in British Columbia a group of skiers and snowboarders had to be guided out of
an avalanche prone area with a helicopter, because after high avalanche warnings in the area and a
strict verbal by ski patrol not to cross the boundary they decided to anyway (Sharples). These men
were charged for everything that it cost to ensure their safe arrival. I m proposing that we do the
samething here in America. There would have to be stipulations

Count Of Monte Cristo Accuracy
Historical Movie Analysis: The Count of Monte Cristo (2002)
The Count of Monte Cristo (2002) was written by Jay Wolpert and directed by Kevin Reynolds. It was
based on the novel of the same name written by Alexander Dumas and Auguste Maquet in 1844. The
movie was met with moderate financial and critical success making $75.4 million dollars off a budget
of $35 million and receiving a 73% on rotten tomatoes. But statistics aside how historically accurate
and relevant is The Count of Monte Cristo? That is the question I will be answering in this short paper
but before I go over the historical accuracies and inaccuracies let me give you a brief summery of the
movie to give you a better idea of the world and time period this movie tries to portray. ... Show more

Surprisingly to me I couldn t find too many historical inaccuracies in this movie. The settings of
scenes match up well with 1800s France and all of the architecture is generally similar to French
architecture of the time period. Where I found the most inaccuracies was in the clothes that the
characters wore. Doing a little research on the fashion of the 1800s, specifically 1815 1844 when the
story takes place, I found that the style of clothes that the characters wear would be nearly half a
century old, the clothes worn in the film being more reminiscent to late 1700s fashion. Not to mention
the total negation of hats in the film which were a staple of men s fashion throughout the 1800s. But
the most glaring inaccuracy, concerning fashion of the time, are the clothes that are worn by the Count
of Monte Cristo himself, Edmond Dantès. In what I assume to be an artistic design choice to make the
count seem more regal or foreign, as he tries to appear as if he s not from France, only comes off as
odd and off putting for the time period. Unfortunately since the story of The Count of Monte Cristo is
a fictional story there isn t a lot more that I can compare to real world events that took place during the
time period, however I can go over some events that the film

Conquest Of The Useless By Werner Herzog
Conquest of the Journey
She walks to the centermost oak tree near Mason Hall, she finally has found the perfect shady spot on
an 80 degree day. She passes the boy from her Psychology class and gives him a small smile. She s
taking a journey to a jungle she doesn t normally observe, a place where many humans and animals
inhabit. There isn t a breeze and the air feels drier than usual. The Diag seems unfriendly today, as she
sits down she s nervous of her surroundings. She plants herself on a somewhat clean patch of grass
and pulls out her shiny laptop. She is reading Werner Herzog s Conquest of the Useless for her
freshman English class. As she dives her way into the reading she starts to think about where she is,
what is going on around her, and the journey that she is on. A bushy red squirrel approaches her, she s
confused why it s coming so close and quickly gets up to escape its presence. Why in the world is this
squirrel so close to me she thinks to herself. The girl moves from the tree but as she get up she starts to
notice specific details she hasn t before.
First, think about humans. Second, think about animals. Do they usually interact? Do animals and
humans go through similar journeys? The University of Michigan is home to a jungle. It s full of

Hippocampus Drug Effects
An alcoholic beverage is a drink that contains a psychoactive drug ethanol, a depressant which in low
doses causes euphoria, reduced anxiety, sociability which in higher doses could be caused by
unconsciousness, lack of critical mental function and intoxication. Drinking alcoholic beverages is not
a current event, the production, transportation and the distribution of alcohol were banned in the 1920s
under the presidency of President Woodrow Wilson by the Eighteenth Amendment. This paper talks
about the effects of excessive drinking of alcohol termed as alcohol dependence on the volume or size
of the hippocampus of humans. The hippocampus is a small organ located in the temporal lobe. The
hippocampus is an important part of the limbic system. The hippocampus is mainly associated with
memory, mainly long term memory which is important in the learning process.

Haig s Reputation as the Butcher of the Somme Essay
Haig s Reputation as the Butcher of the Somme
In the run up to the war, Field Marshal Sir Douglas Haig was appointed the Director of Military
Training. In an effort to create a reserve standard army which could double up as a home front defence
force, plus a fighting unit for use abroad, he managed to achieve this by pushing for legislation that
lead to the creation of the TA (Territory Army) and the BEF (British Expeditionary Force) which were
to be later used in the war effort in the war to end all wars . Haig is most famously renowned for his
involvement in the hundreds of dead soldiers strung out like wreckage in the thickened barbed wire of
the failed attack of the Somme, after a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His apparent lack of emotion leads me to how he may deserve the label of being the butcher of the
Somme . This reveals when he says the nation must be taught to bear losses. This heartless attitude
bears resemblance to the rule of Bloody Mary as Queen of England when she persecuted Protestants
in an attempt to bring England back to the Roman Catholic faith. He is also inferred to be a butcher as
he did not stop the men from going over the top when he saw that his particular plan of action was not
working in its current state
Even though the Somme was a terrible disaster, it served in a positive light to be a learning curve for
the British Battalions/Sections/Corps/and generals. With the benefit of hindsight, it showed the Allies
that their was a serious, inadmissible problem in their ranks because how such a mass scale massacre
of men could happen after such a well planned offensive from high up the ranks to Haig himself is a
clerical atrocity. Firstly, the barbed wire pounding was a good idea in theory however it only served to
in practice make the wire entangle so that it was thick to the point that daylight could barely be seen
through it . But, it could be argued that because Haig suggested the idea after being prompted

European And Native American Beliefs
The history of Native American religion is influenced by exposure to Europeans, the beliefs of
different tribes, and traditions that were passed down orally. When the Europeans came to America
they impacted the Native American religions in many different ways. The Native Americans had to
adapt to Europeans, but they also kept to their original ways. Even before the adaptations, the Native
Americans and Europeans had similarities including: believing one god and one main evil spirit,
believing in an afterlife, and they both believed in the immortality of the soul. Even though the
Natives believed in one god, Master Spirit , unlike the Europeans, they believed that the god could
assume a variety of forms and both genders; Native Americans also believed in many lesser spirits.
Other differences were that Natives passed their beliefs down verbally instead of documenting
everything in a book or books. As a result of exposure to Europeans, Native American traditions
gradually intermixed with Christian beliefs. One example of the influence of Christianity on Native
American rituals is the adaptations to the Sun Dance. Before the Sun Dance was primarily practiced in
the Upper Plains and the Rocky Mountains and performed at the summer solstice. The dance was
often practiced differently for each tribe, but the Eagle, helping bring body and spirit in harmony, is an
important symbol for all tribes. There are many similarities for each tribe including: specific songs
and dances that

There has been some improvements made over the years, in a few categories that have heavily
impacted LGBTQ+ members. The first category is one many people overlook, legal issues. Second is
social change and how society s views and actions have changed. Last but certainly not least is, the
progression with homelessness. While examining LGBTQ+ issues it becomes clear that although the
ideal societal state has not yet been reached, progress has been made. A comparative assessment of the
past and present provides a clear understanding of the ongoing progression for this community of
people.
There has been quite a bit of progression made through laws and the removing of bans in Canada.

LGBTQ+ Youth are overrepresented in the homeless youth population. The same group of people are
also underrepresented in homeless shelters. There is one main reason for why this is, many shelters are
not the most accepting to this group of people. This being said though brings me to this quote from an
anonymous person, Although we ve come to expect homelessness as an inescapable part of urban life,
there s no good reason it needs to be so. Unfortunately a lot of discrimination occurs in shelters. It can
range anywhere from others directly being mean to you because of your identity, to workers putting
you in the dorms that match your birth sex rather than your gender identity, and also bluntly not being
permitted access into the shelter because of something you can t control. Overtime this has slowly
changed, there is now a homeless shelter for LGBTQ+ Youth. They called it the Sprott Home. The
idea of it is it s a safe place for transitioning youth. Places like this are pretty rare but as society
becomes a more accepting place the need for them will hopefully die out, or they will be more
commonly found throughout

Meanings Of A Word Gloria Naylor Analysis
Language is a powerful ensemble of instruments that all eject different tones. How instruments are
played, effect the tone that is given. The way language is used affects the feelings that are released.
The power of language has different uses: it can hurt or heal, it can destroy relationships or build new
ones, it can make a girl feel like nothing or make her feel as though she is on top of the world. No
matter what language is used for, it can make a huge impact, how language is used determines
whether the impact is positive or negative. In her essay The Meanings of a Word , Gloria Naylor s
effective depiction of language is revealed through syntax, diction, and imagery.

Naylor uses diction to compare the use of nigger to other equally derogatory words. Had he called me
a nymphomaniac or a necrophilliac, I couldn t have been more puzzled (3). The words
nymphomaniac, necrophilliac, and nigger all have negative connotations. By using these words,
Naylor reveals how hearing nigger was derogatory and demeaning. Naylor s word choice gives a clear
idea of the negative connotation nigger held in the classroom. Naylor elaborates on her view of the

Identifying The Patterns Of Social Acceptance
In the context of parties of people, I was particularly interested in finding the patterns of social
acceptance, and the ways that people incorporate themselves into groups. An example of such
acceptance can be the pattern of individuals who completely ignore groups around them by staring at
their phone; compared to those who strike conversations with people they haven t met before.
Addressed, also, are ways that people use more passive technique to identify themselves and how this
resembles their social circle. Note taking was taken in two spots with the overall time of note taking to
roughly 1 hour. The first area was the quad. This area was where the majority of notes were written. I
selected this area in particular because of the traffic during lunch hours. In order to get a good viewing
angle of the quad, I sat under in the southwest corner of the quad and began taking notes. The other
part of my notes were written in a more progressive manner. I specifically took notes of group patterns
during lecture, and regularly would ask questions focused on such. Finding a correlation between the
different questions asked, and a behavioral response is how I drew my conclusions. I am always
fascinated between how people socialize. This topic is close to my heart because I was an extreme
introvert before my final years of high school. Not being able to just start a simple conversation
because of social anxiety is one of the worst feelings anybody can have, and it takes a lot

According to Willoughby (2014), the community media and publishing media are two of the most
important types of the social media nowadays. The community media focusses upon the interaction
between users. The community media is such as Facebook. By contrast, publish media, such as
Youtube and Instagram, emphasizes the sharing of different media format, like video and picture. The
social features come second to the content sharing. As the marketing campaign of share a Coke is in
interest, it is essential for the brand of Coca Cola to choose the right categories of social media. From
the argument by Evans (2012). Indeed, as the campaign of share a Coke aims to creates conversation
and attention among the customers, the social media has a direct bearing on the efficiency of the
marketing campaign. As Grimes (2013) wrote, share a Coke is originally designed to attract the
demographics of 18 25 years old customers to purchase personalized product and to share their love
on the social media. In U.K., the marketing campaign is executed on the various platforms.
As Willoughby (2014) presented, four criteria could be used to analyse a marketing campaign: sales
growth, increasing proximity to the customers, and cost reduction. This literature review would
primarily examine the criteria of sales growth and increase in the proximity to customers. Firstly, sales
growth means that the monthly or

The Possibility Of Integrating Critical Thinking For...
Chapter Two: Investigating the Possibility of Integrating Critical Thinking in English Language
Teaching Introduction Montaigne views that saying is one thing; doing is another thing (qtd. in
Robson 191). This insinuates that what one says might be different from what s/he does, hence the
necessity when enquiring about the possibility of integrating critical thinking in English Language
Teaching. This chapter is devoted to the investigation of the hypothesis of the study, whether critical
thinking could be incorporated in English Language Teaching. This chapter is undertaken with this
spirit, we will start our investigation by introducing the population of the study. Then, we describe,
analyze and interpret the questionnaires results. It will help us confirm or disconfirm our hypotheses
about possible correlation between critical thinking and language teaching. We provide two sections,
first, we deal with the students questionnaire followed by its analysis, and then, we will move to do
the same with teachers questionnaire. 2.1. Methodology 2.1.1. Hypothesis It is worth to reiterate our
research hypothesis: Incorporating the teaching of critical thinking skills may enhance EFL students
mastery of the field, and raise their awareness about their own learning, thereby, they become
autonomous. 2.1.2. Population What is worth being mentioned is that the reason behind opting for
master students to be the case of our study is their level of mastery

A Dollhouse And The Glass Menagerie
One of the most important thematic bridges connecting two of the seminal works of Henrik Ibsen,
author of A Dollhouse, and Tennessee Williams, playwright of The Glass Menagerie, is abandonment
and its effects on the family dynamic. Each work s protagonist Tom in The Glass Menagerie and Nora
in A Dollhouse actively undergoes the process of starting afresh in life by abandoning the strict
limitations of domesticity in search of spiritual and financial stability. While both characters ultimately
end up declaring their independence from their families, the consequences they face in the aftermath
are uniquely a result of the specific dynamic they suffer from in their respective works. In Nora s case,
the tight grip of her husband Torvald as well as her dubious under the table deal with Krogstad
highlights her capricious and shady nature, while Tom eagerly fits the mold of a petulant, ... Show

Nora s sudden transformation from dutiful housewife to fiercely independent spinster with a mind of
her own is bound to keep some readers confused because of Ibsen s theatrical decision to keep Nora s
thoughts largely internal during the height of the play s dramatic tension (Ibsen 73). Williams,
primarily through the framing of The Glass Menagerie as a memory play, places the audience more
squarely in tune with Tom s psychological justifications for leaving his family through his constant
breaking of the fourth wall, emphasizing that the tricks in his pockets will come out in full view for
the audience to see to fully understand his abandonment of the Wingfields (Williams 29). Tom is
finally spurned by the lingering presence of his father s adventurous spirit, symbolized through his
internment in picture form on the Wingfields mantle, to act upon impulse and finally escape the
restrictive bonds that living with his mother and sister has placed upon

also criticized for moving their factories from United States and taking away American jobs. Nike has
denied the claims many times, suggesting the company has no control over sub contracted factories.

Humming Bird Benefits
Although people enjoy viewing wildlife and hunting animals for food and fur, conflicts arise because
wild animals kill livestock, cause vehicle collisions, and damage crops. On another note, relationships
with other organism can be more than just seeing the humming bird as an eye catching small bird. It is
a benefit for the long tubed flowers because the Buff Bellied hummingbird has its long beak and small
body to remove the nectar which allows the survival of the long tubed flower. Experiments indicated
that flowers having recurved spurs deposit significantly more pollen grains on hummingbird visitors
than flowers having perpendicular spurs, apparently as a result of greater contact between the

Praying Mantis have their own benefits within a garden as do hummingbirds, but the praying mantis
does not carry a relationship with the hummingbirds. The praying mantis waits on flowers and on
feeders to capture them. Humming birds are not resistant to bees/wasp venom. They can out maneuver
a hummingbird with just one sting and can be fatal. Hawks prey on hummingbirds due to their size
advantage. Hummingbirds are typically 3 4 grams of size and can provide nutrients to large birds.
Although their size is not a great advantage they still stand tall to a hawk to defend their habitat and
offspring. Their strong manner against their huge odds is one of the reasons that hummingbirds arouse
our interest. Hummingbirds have a symbiotic relationship with plants. They have a mutualistic
relationship because they both benefit from it. The hummingbird gets nectar from flowers which also
helps the flower because it is being pollinated. Many flowers have a tube like shape which makes it
hard for bees to get nectar from them. This benefits the hummingbird because they will have a reliable

more of these officials, but that they would be more effective in handling these issues. This ended up
failing as the new officials were objectively worse than the old ones. In the end these attempts led to
extreme unrest in Russia, making it very easy for people such as Lenin and the Bolsheviks to come
and start the ultimate revolution and take down the current monarchical government. The war brought
with it many economic and militaristic issues that ultimately led to the Bolshevik Revolution.
The military revolts were a major part of the Russian Revolution, making it very difficult for battles to
be won on the Russian front. This meant they made no major moves either beneficial or detrimental to
either side of the war. Much of this is to the fault of Czar Nicholas II, as, despite having no prior
military experience, he decided to lead the military effort. As mentioned previously, an estimated
fifteen and a half million men were drafted from peasant and working class areas. This led to many of
them being untrained. When they were sent to war, many had to wait months in barracks just to be
trained. Many were trained with broomsticks due to lack of proper weapons and training tools. The
lack of guns and other weapons also

The Pros And Cons Of Political Campaign Spending
In 2012 election, there were huge amounts of money going into political campaign spending.
Corporations were donating to Mitt Romney s campaign and trying to denounce Obama s spot. In the
article Citizens United and the Corporate Court by Jamie Raskin, she says that there are 844 Super
PAC s and countless 501(c) vehicles; experts say billions of dollars, much of it untraceable, will flood
the 2012 election (Raskin 20). She explains that billions and billions of dollars are spent in just wining
a presidential campaign which is being untraceable. Lots and lots of Super PAC s are taking advantage
of the system and donating all this money to a presidential campaign, which in return, the president

The Battle Of The Confederate Battle Flag
A Slow Extinction All the conflict the Confederate battle flag has raised in the past month elevates the
question should the flag stay up or be taken down. Many states have already taken it down from
official buildings. Other questions appear asking if the flag symbolizes racism or heritage. As said by
Coulter Think of all the actual people you know, Southern or Yankee. Have any of them ever
expressed support for slavery? Ever, ever, ever? No they haven t (Battle Over Flag). No one wants to
see slavery come back. The Civil War and slavery is definitely a big scar on the United States. The
flag does not represent any of this; the Confederate flag stands as a symbol of heritage in the eyes of
many people, but as a racist disgrace in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The battle flag known today became popular to soldiers. It is distinctive compared to the Unions with
its red background, blue X, and stars. This flag s fame comes from its use by General Lees Army of
Northern Virginia, the greatest military force of the Confederacy. This flag has been said to symbolize
hate or racism. As stated by one of our great presidents, We are not enemies, but friends. We must not
be enemies. Though passion may have strained it must not break our bonds of affection. The mystic
chords of memory, stretching from every battlefield and patriot grave to every living heart and
hearthstone all over this broad land, will yet swell the chorus of the Union, when again touched, as
surely they will be, by the better angels of our nature. (Lincoln) Robert E. Lee is the first commander
to use this flag and as said by one author, nearly 95% of Lee s army that fought at Gettysburg did not
own a single slave (McPherson). This image of the South where everyone owns slaves is not correct.
In fact, two authors say that, The average white Southern family in antebellum America lived on a
small farm without slaves. Slave ownership was the exception, not the rule (Williamson and Cain). As
presented by Williamson and Cain, Over 80 percent of the free adult males in the South did not own
slaves (Measuring Slaves). Many 19th century Southern Americans are not. Most white people work

Analysis Paralysis Essay
Analysis paralysis is a term most Executive Recruiters recognize. It strikes unsuspecting new and
seasoned recruiters alike. When one concentrates on the possibilities of what can go wrong during a
search, or worry about their performance, they tend to stop taking action. When activity stops
placements stop.
Action is the secret to keeping analysis paralysis from destroying a career. Focus on the end result. A
successful result is when a candidate is hired, starts their new job, and payment is received. God bless
fee payments! Engaging candidates and employers in conversation is the highest priority. Delegate
low end tasks to support staff. Initially most headhunters learn the intricacies of the recruitment
process by completing each step themselves.

Practice, practice, practice! Forget about mistakes because they re part of learning to be a great

Self correction is built into the recruitment process. Headhunters become highly intuitive. They ask

Oppression In Carl Ratner s Miss Julie
In the same way the protagonist in Miss Julie seems to be in a constant struggle with herself to
reconcile her furious nature with the demands of the social dictates of Victorian standards. What
happens with Miss Julie in the play was nothing more than the systematic oppression of the female
gender in same manner as appeared in the earlier two play. In a society such as the Victorian one,
female oppression, her objectification and social subjugation may have, consequently, made female
hatred toward men a typical phenomenon. Carl Ratner says:
Psychology of oppression refers, first and foremost, to the fact that oppressed psychology is the
subjective processes that sustain oppression within the victims of oppression. Oppressed psychology is
oppressive, oppressing psychology. It is not the passive result of oppression, but an active reproducing
of oppression by consciousness/subjectivity/agency (Ratner, 2011). ... Show more content on

Miss Julie lives in a society where men are supposed to patronize and undermine women. So, neither
does she receive the approval of men and nor does that of other women who have already offered
themselves in accordance to male dictated and Victorian standards. This oppression resulted into Julie

was defined as an illness brought on when a woman failed or refused to accept her sexual desires but
Juliet Mitchel considers Hysteria, along with death, as the only way out for a women to escape the

The Methods Of Forced Induction
Superchargers and turbochargers both are methods of forced induction. Forced induction is delivering
compressed air to the engine. The reason for forced induction is simple more air means to more power.
When the engine is using the compressed air, it is called boost. Superchargers and turbochargers are
the two common types of forced induction. A supercharger is driven by a belt like an alternator. A
turbocharger is driven by the flow of exhaust. The debate of which is better is one of the most talked
about debate and there is no right or wrong answer. There are pros and cons that make it imposable to
say one is better. There may be one that is better for your use. Turbochargers are bolted on the exhaust
headers using exhaust gasses to spin and spool an impellor in the turbo. This is efficiently using
energy that would have been wasted. When the one impellor is being spun by the exhaust the other is
sucks air in the engine making boost. Since the turbo is powered by the exhaust a lot of heat is made.
You do not want that to go through your engine because this could cause the engine to overheat. To
prevent overheating problems an intercooler is installed. The air travels through the intercooler during
the proses the air is cooled. One limitation of turbo is turbo lag, because the turbo is driven by the
exhaust it takes some time for the impellor to spool, but once it is spooled you can get full boost
quickly. The advancements in turbochargers have made turbo a lot better

Get up Erik, get up! Those were the only words I heard when the buzzer went off and the ref slapped

never been so disappointed in myself my whole life. I had just lost my first wrestling match of the

than myself, be apart of a team ? I excluded myself from my team and I just sat in the bleachers

and every meet. I wanted to succeed, I know success wasn t gonna be easy because success isn t

Network Advantages And Disadvantages
A network is a group of computers and other devices (such as printers, phones,or a television) that are
connected by some type of transmission media. A network can be two computers connected by a cable
in a home office or as large as several thousand computers that are connected across the world.
Networks has two fundamentals known as the peer to peer and client/server. In a peer to peer network,
every computer can communicate with each other but no computer has more power than another.
Every computer is capable of sending and receiving information to and from every other computer.
They are simple to configure and they are often less expensive to set up. The downside is that they are
not flexible and they are not necessarily secure. Client/server network is sometimes used to refer to the
design of a network in which clients rely on servers for resource sharing and processing. This network
share some common elements, including clients, servers, workstations. Clients take on the form of
personal computers also known as smartphones and workstations . A network that uses server to
enable clients to share data is known as a client/server network. A model that was use to understand
and develop computer computer communications over network is known as OSI (Open Systems
Interconnection) which is a model that divides network communication into seven layers: Physical,
Data Link, Network, Transport, Session, Presentation, and Application. At each layer, protocols

Physics of Stars Essay examples
Stars are phenomenal glowing spheres that everyone has noticed in the night sky. Long ago they were
poorly understood. Today, with the help from astronomers, physicists, and other space scientists, we
have discovered a large amount of information about stars.
These huge balls of flaming gas have many different ranges of characteristics. We can observe the
many fascinating colors that may be displayed from stars. Some of them are not stars themselves, but
the trillions of fragments left behind after they explode into supernova (Moreau, 2000).
There is a huge variation in sizes of stars as well. They range from super giants to small dwarfs. Most

These two diagrams show the action of subatomic particles smashing into each other creating other
elements and energy as a byproduct. Both of these pictures demonstrate the occurrence between the
most common elements, hydrogen and helium, undergoing fusion.
Sometimes when dealing with mathematical descriptions of specific phenomenon concerning stars the
complexity may become intense. However, we will explore common occurrences and changes of stars
that can be described by simple mathematical relationships.
One primary occurrence between stars that are approaching their later stages is a reduction in their
radius. This occurs when elements such as hydrogen and helium in the center of the star change into
gaseous iron from electron exchanges and other processes. Eventually the star becomes very dense
and the radius of the star is reduced. By the conservation of angular momentum in this case, the
velocity must increase due to the decreased radius (Kippenhahn, 194 95). Lets do a calculation to
show this.
By the conservation of angular momentum we get this equation: Ii wi = If wf, where Ii is the initial
moment of inertia, wi is the initial angular speed, and If and wf are the final products of what I just
listed. The moment of inertia of a sphere is (2/5)mR^2, where m is the mass and R is the radius.
Plugging these into the equation Ii wi = If wf, we get, (2/5)mRi^2 wi = (2/5)mRf^2 wf.

social wellness. Physical wellness means ability to recognize the benefits of physical activities and

A True War Story In Tim OBrien s The Things They Carried
Only the dead have seen the end of war unknown. In Tim O Brien s The Things They Carried, he tells
us what a true war story is. Throughout chapter 7, he writes what he believes is a true war story. It s
through evil, disbelief, embarrassment, and hidden meanings in Mary Anne s trip to Vietnam that we
know what a true war story is. The Sweetheart of the Song Tra Bong is a perfect example of a true war
story. In a war, nothing ever hangs onto the good; it always grabs on to the evil.
Rat Kiley said, At the girl s throat was a necklace of human tongues. Elongated and narrow, like
pieces of blackened leather, the tongues were threaded along a length of copper wire, one tongue
overlapping the next, the tips curled upward as if caught in a final shrill syllable (105 106).
A young girl with a tongue necklace isn t the thing someone would expect to see from her. It s obscene
behavior for a girl, especially in this time period. Many people eat animal tongues; it isn t seen as
weird behavior, but Mary Anne wears them. The aspect of the human tongues makes it wicked and

Essay about Early American Literature
Early American Literature (1620 1820)
In the first half of the 17th century the New World found two groups of people
colonizing. The first group, the Puritans, had left England after years of exile due to
their lack of faith in the Church of England. With the reading and understanding of the
Bible almost completely laid in the hands of the preacher, the congregation was forced
to believe all the words that the preacher said. This all came to an end with John
Calvin.
His ideas were that God likes certain people better than others and those chosen
ones would get more land and more money. This idea took off with the Puritans as they

All education was basedon religion and through that there was no questioning of God.
Along with this, their faith was based of that of the super natural world. They could
not see God, but saw him through thingslike a prosperous harvest or a winter blizzard,
both of these in reaction to actions taken by the Puritans.
With this lack of deductive reasoning the Puritans would find themselves thinking
about things done wrong if there was a life threatening winter blizzard or reflect the
things that were done right in the event of a bountiful harvest. In my eyes the Putians
were did not just leave England in search of religious freedom, they were casually asked
to leave the country and were used to colonize land that England was interested in.
Much like religious cults of today, they were against major religious beliefs of the
church and looked upon as radicals in their beliefs. Then, coming out, beheld a
space the flame consume my dwelling place. And when I could no longer look, I blest His
name that gave and took. A quote of this nature in modern day society would be
followed by the thought of radical nature in the person saying it. Things may have
changed as far as social acceptance goes, but I see the Puritans as outcasts of the
society in England.

Jewish Divorce Essay
Although changes have been made to Jewish divorce laws, women are continually being mistreated
when dealing with the issues of divorce. In biblical times, there were no assurances that women would
be protected when faced with a man who wanted a divorce. Furthermore, women were not allowed to
initiate the process by asking for one. As time went on, it was recognized that women needed to be
somewhat shielded from actions that her husband could take, which she had no control over. Rabbinic
law made four major changes to help the plight of women regarding divorce (Biale p.5).
First, the Halackah requires a Get (bill of divorcement), which limits the possibility of a rash,
thoughtless ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There have been many debates about this clause because the appropriate grounds for divorce are
unclear. Some believe that a man can divorce a woman merely because he likes another one better (B.
p.74). There is no safeguard against this because it is up to the man s judgment. The requirements of
the Ketubah and the Get may not convince the man to stay married.
The fact remains that on the one hand; a wife could not initiate a divorce without appealing to a Beit
Din, and on the other hand may be divorced without her consent. The Talmud states A woman may be
divorced with her consent or without it (B. 81). Rabbenu Gershom made a ruling that banned the
divorcement of a woman without her consent. Although this is a positive legislation, a Beit Din has the
power to revoke it when they deem necessary.
The most problematic law is that while it is not always necessary for a woman to consent to a divorce,
a man can give a divorce with only his full consent (Yevamot 112b) (B. 97). It is then up to the courts
and the community to try to convince him to give his wife a divorce. Many women have faced this
problem of being an Agunah (anchored wife), chained to her husband until he agrees to a divorce. This

continued to thrive in several populations until at about 143,000 years ago, at least one erectus
population continued to evolve. That population gave rise to Homo heidelbergensis, which then gave
rise to Homo sapiens and Homo neanderthalensis

Dancing with the Stars prediction: Latin night Fans of Dancing With the Stars will grimace when
another couple is cut from the ballroom this week. It s always tough. And sometimes there is no
precise reason for the elimination. This season has been especially harsh as DWTS fans get attached to
a celebrity and the ax drops. Do I have a prediction? Of course! I know with almost 100% accuracy
that Pitbull is going to heat up the ballroom on Monday with his performance. Oh, did you mean the

ETHICAL CODES AND PARTICULAR CASES 2 The Florida Bar v. McAliley was a case of a
husband who is a member of The Florida Bar fighting with his wife over final order regarding
modification of custody, visitation, parental responsibility, and other issues. He claimed that their
minor child was being harmed by second hand smoke, and was told by his mother how to act when he
was with him. He filed numerous claims to the appellate court ranging from not being able to be
present for medical and dental exams to the trial judge not letting him represent himself. Every claim

ETHICAL CODES AND PARTICULAR CASES 3 lawyer, how do we know if he is not like that
towards other clients and judges. I understand that people get emotional when things like divorce and
custody arises and things can get out of hand, but in this case, I feel he went a little overboard only
thinking about himself and not considering the consequences this all had on his ex wife and minor
child. He was definitely unprofessional and even one of the judges said if someone asks me what
vexatious litigation looks like, the former husband s various filings in this divorce case, especially his
antics in these post judgment proceedings, are an excellent example (Judge Farmer, 1997). Judges and
lawyers have a higher standard to go by, if this type of action is not tolerated when representing a
client, then it definitely should not be tolerated by a lawyer in his own case.

During the novel The Red Badge of Courage by Stephen Crane, Henry fights alongside his comrades
in the first battle that he had participated in, yet he flees in the second one he participates in. What
caused him to react this way? His reasons for his actions are quite cowardly and dishonorable but
justified nonetheless. Here they come, here they come! yelled one of the soldiers. The first battle
started when Henry shot the first shot. He works the crowd like the soldier he is, feeling like beast,
shooting his rifle, shot after shot after shot. He is confident and strong. He is a part of this regiment
and together they push forward, they helt em back . In the second battle, from his point of view, it

Political Movement, A Road That Never Ends
Political Movement, A Road That Never Ends During the 1870s to 1930, California agriculture had
become a most diverse region of the United States. Its wheat, meat, and crop farming, such as grapes,
walnuts, almonds, tomatoes, potatoes, watermelons, and plums became the California s major export
industry, as well as nation s leading producer. According to The Elusive Eden by Richard B. Rice,
William A. Bullough, and Richard J. Orsi, the number of farms in 1925 had grown to more than
136,400 farms, worth than $708 million. Besides the enormous development of the agriculture,
California had become the one of the best manufacturing and trading states in America. It dominated
the manufacturing industry and trading companies for aircraft factories, lumber factories, steel plants,
mining companies, petroleum companies and so on. According to Eric Foner in Give Me Liberty
volume 2, by 1945, California had received one tenth of all federal spending, and Los Angeles had
become the nation s second largest manufacturing center (863). Paralleled with the economic
development were numerous organizations found in California in order to control, regulate, and
support the commercial and trading activities, such as the California Fruit Growers Exchange, the
Representative Assembly of Trade and Labor Unions, the Coast Seamen s Association, the Federated
Iron Trade Council. Although the political reforms in the early 20th century could not address the most

M/C ratio for A. flavus decreased at high concentration of C. papaya seed extract compared with low
concentration of pawpaw seed extract which give high M/C ratio and these lead us to confirm the
antifungal potency of C. papaya seed extract against A. flavus.

  • 2. Edgar Wright Edgar Wright Hot Fuzz and Shaun of the Dead By Brearna Sandri Shaun of the Dead In this close viewing I will be using the films Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz, directed by Edgar Wright, to show significant aspects/techniques of different scenes used in both films. I will be focusing on the features of sound effects, dialogue and comparing near same scenes within two different films and the aspects that Edgar Wright was trying to cover. Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz both have fence jumping scenes. In Shaun of the Dead, the scene is opened with Shaun opening the gate quite forcefully along with the rest of his team. Shaun says The Winchester s just over there and David says in a sarcastic tone, Just over there behind the 20 garden fences? When David is saying the last bit of his sentence the camera pans over the fences in which they have to jump to show audiences what they have to jump over. For example, to show why David is being sarcastic towards Shaun, and why it s being used in that particular scene, Shaun then says What s the matter, David? Never taken a shortcut before? , and smirks while turning behind, and tries to jump over the fence but ends up making the fence fall over. He then picks himself back up and subtly tries to make it seem like he didn t just break the fence. The background noise in this scene is filled with car alarms, house alarms and deep music/sound effects. This creates the effect of a crisis situation, as they are in a zombie apocalypse. ... • 3. Napoleon s Warfare Strategies And Tactics On Modern Day... Napoleon Bonaparte is credited with being a great military tactician as well as a military genius during his era. He played a significant role in world history and the art of war. The man s genius was fundamentally practical, and all the military concepts he used were attributed to his close study that he did of his earlier commanders, predominantly Fredrick the Great. He did not trust any novel idea and thus by no means used other people s concepts. He made the fullest utilization of the notions of his predecessors, which he breathed life into them making them successful. Napoleon had to be strategic in order to be victorious in his conquests. The skills, strategies and tactics he used in the battlegrounds were desired and thus copied by many during his era and up today. Warfare especially during the Napoleonic era fundamentally changed modern warfare and continues to be the main reason the military studies Napoleon today. It impacted the battles of today. This essay s main purpose is to point out the impacts of Napoleon s warfare strategies and tactics on modern day warfare. It will analyze the principles Napoleon used during his era, and they include the theory of nationalism, creation of the corps system and leading disciplined and professional armies. The principle of the theory of nationalism is all about being patriotic. Napoleon used this principle during his time and it is highly implemented by military today. • 4. The Day Of National Parks The outdoors, there s something about being outside and the beauty of the forest, glaciers, oceans, and vast wilderness that draws humanity to it. Could it be getting back to our natural state or just trying to connect with God s creation? Either way Millions of people travel to National Parks a year: 3 million traveled to yellowstone alone in 2015 (Visser). But sadly not all of them have favorable trips; in 2007 the National Park Service reported 3,593 search and rescue missions or SAR missions (National Parks). The average budget for SAR missions is $200,000 and each year that is exceeded. The solution is charge the bill of the mission to the one in need of being rescued. Now this would not apply in every case, there are times no matter how hard you prepared or how careful you were trouble still comes your way. For these missions you won t be billed, but if you go past marked barriers, not properly equipped, or have been medically prescribed not to do vigouroux exercise then you will be billed for the cost of your rescue. On Grouse Mountain in British Columbia a group of skiers and snowboarders had to be guided out of an avalanche prone area with a helicopter, because after high avalanche warnings in the area and a strict verbal by ski patrol not to cross the boundary they decided to anyway (Sharples). • 5. Count Of Monte Cristo Accuracy Historical Movie Analysis: The Count of Monte Cristo (2002) The Count of Monte Cristo (2002) was written by Jay Wolpert and directed by Kevin Reynolds. It was based on the novel of the same name written by Alexander Dumas and Auguste Maquet in 1844. The movie was met with moderate financial and critical success making $75.4 million dollars off a budget of $35 million and receiving a 73% on rotten tomatoes. But statistics aside how historically accurate and relevant is The Count of Monte Cristo? That is the question I will be answering in this short paper but before I go over the historical accuracies and inaccuracies let me give you a brief summery of the movie to give you a better idea of the world and time period this movie tries to portray. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Surprisingly to me I couldn t find too many historical inaccuracies in this movie. The settings of scenes match up well with 1800s France and all of the architecture is generally similar to French architecture of the time period. Where I found the most inaccuracies was in the clothes that the characters wore. Doing a little research on the fashion of the 1800s, specifically 1815 1844 when the story takes place, I found that the style of clothes that the characters wear would be nearly half a century old, the clothes worn in the film being more reminiscent to late 1700s fashion. Not to mention the total negation of hats in the film which were a staple of men s fashion throughout the 1800s. But the most glaring inaccuracy, concerning fashion of the time, are the clothes that are worn by the Count of Monte Cristo himself, Edmond Dantès. In what I assume to be an artistic design choice to make the count seem more regal or foreign, as he tries to appear as if he s not from France, only comes off as odd and off putting for the time period. Unfortunately since the story of The Count of Monte Cristo is a fictional story there isn t a lot more that I can compare to real world events that took place during the time period, however I can go over some events that the film ... Haig s Reputation as the Butcher of the Somme Essay Haig s Reputation as the Butcher of the Somme In the run up to the war, Field Marshal Sir Douglas Haig was appointed the Director of Military Training. In an effort to create a reserve standard army which could double up as a home front defence force, plus a fighting unit for use abroad, he managed to achieve this by pushing for legislation that lead to the creation of the TA (Territory Army) and the BEF (British Expeditionary Force) which were to be later used in the war effort in the war to end all wars . Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... His apparent lack of emotion leads me to how he may deserve the label of being the butcher of the Somme . This reveals when he says the nation must be taught to bear losses. This heartless attitude bears resemblance to the rule of Bloody Mary as Queen of England when she persecuted Protestants in an attempt to bring England back to the Roman Catholic faith. He is also inferred to be a butcher as he did not stop the men from going over the top when he saw that his particular plan of action was not working in its current state Even though the Somme was a terrible disaster, it served in a positive light to be a learning curve for the British Battalions/Sections/Corps/and generals. With the benefit of hindsight, it showed the Allies that their was a serious, inadmissible problem in their ranks because how such a mass scale massacre of men could happen after such a well planned offensive from high up the ranks to Haig himself is a clerical atrocity. Firstly, the barbed wire pounding was a good idea in theory however it only served to in practice make the wire entangle so that it was thick to the point that daylight could barely be seen through it . • 10. European And Native American Beliefs The history of Native American religion is influenced by exposure to Europeans, the beliefs of different tribes, and traditions that were passed down orally. When the Europeans came to America they impacted the Native American religions in many different ways. The Native Americans had to adapt to Europeans, but they also kept to their original ways. Even before the adaptations, the Native Americans and Europeans had similarities including: believing one god and one main evil spirit, believing in an afterlife, and they both believed in the immortality of the soul. Even though the Natives believed in one god, Master Spirit , unlike the Europeans, they believed that the god could assume a variety of forms and both genders; Native Americans also believed in many lesser spirits. Other differences were that Natives passed their beliefs down verbally instead of documenting everything in a book or books. As a result of exposure to Europeans, Native American traditions gradually intermixed with Christian beliefs. One example of the influence of Christianity on Native American rituals is the adaptations to the Sun Dance. Before the Sun Dance was primarily practiced in the Upper Plains and the Rocky Mountains and performed at the summer solstice. The dance was often practiced differently for each tribe, but the Eagle, helping bring body and spirit in harmony, is an important symbol for all tribes. A comparative assessment of the past and present provides a clear understanding of the ongoing progression for this community of people. Chapter Two: Investigating the Possibility of Integrating Critical Thinking in English Language Teaching Introduction Montaigne views that saying is one thing; doing is another thing (qtd. in Robson 191). This insinuates that what one says might be different from what s/he does, hence the necessity when enquiring about the possibility of integrating critical thinking in English Language Teaching. This chapter is devoted to the investigation of the hypothesis of the study, whether critical thinking could be incorporated in English Language Teaching. This chapter is undertaken with this spirit, we will start our investigation by introducing the population of the study. Then, we describe, analyze and interpret the questionnaires results. It will help us confirm or disconfirm our hypotheses about possible correlation between critical thinking and language teaching. We provide two sections, first, we deal with the students questionnaire followed by its analysis, and then, we will move to do the same with teachers questionnaire. 2.1. Methodology 2.1.1. Hypothesis It is worth to reiterate our research hypothesis: Incorporating the teaching of critical thinking skills may enhance EFL students mastery of the field, and raise their awareness about their own learning, thereby, they become autonomous. 2.1.2. Population What is worth being mentioned is that the reason behind opting for master students to be the case of our study is their level of mastery ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

While both characters ultimately end up declaring their independence from their families, the consequences they face in the aftermath are uniquely a result of the specific dynamic they suffer from in their respective works. The czar tried replacing officials in the government, believing that not only would the government approve more of these officials, but that they would be more effective in handling these issues. This ended up failing as the new officials were objectively worse than the old ones. In the end these attempts led to extreme unrest in Russia, making it very easy for people such as Lenin and the Bolsheviks to come and start the ultimate revolution and take down the current monarchical government. The war brought with it many economic and militaristic issues that ultimately led to the Bolshevik Revolution. The military revolts were a major part of the Russian Revolution, making it very difficult for battles to be won on the Russian front. This meant they made no major moves either beneficial or detrimental to either side of the war. In a society such as the Victorian one, female oppression, her objectification and social subjugation may have, consequently, made female hatred toward men a typical phenomenon. Carl Ratner says: Psychology of oppression refers, first and foremost, to the fact that oppressed psychology is the subjective processes that sustain oppression within the victims of oppression. The reason for forced induction is simple more air means to more power. When the engine is using the compressed air, it is called boost. Superchargers and turbochargers are the two common types of forced induction. A supercharger is driven by a belt like an alternator. A turbocharger is driven by the flow of exhaust. The debate of which is better is one of the most talked about debate and there is no right or wrong answer. There are pros and cons that make it imposable to say one is better. There may be one that is better for your use. Turbochargers are bolted on the exhaust headers using exhaust gasses to spin and spool an impellor in the turbo. This is efficiently using energy that would have been wasted. When the one impellor is being spun by the exhaust the other is sucks air in the engine making boost. Since the turbo is powered by the exhaust a lot of heat is made. You do not want that to go through your engine because this could cause the engine to overheat. To prevent overheating problems an intercooler is installed. The air travels through the intercooler during the proses the air is cooled. One limitation of turbo is turbo lag, because the turbo is driven by the exhaust it takes some time for the impellor to spool, but once it is spooled you can get full boost quickly. A network can be two computers connected by a cable in a home office or as large as several thousand computers that are connected across the world. Networks has two fundamentals known as the peer to peer and client/server. In a peer to peer network, every computer can communicate with each other but no computer has more power than another. Every computer is capable of sending and receiving information to and from every other computer. They are simple to configure and they are often less expensive to set up. The downside is that they are not flexible and they are not necessarily secure. Client/server network is sometimes used to refer to the design of a network in which clients rely on servers for resource sharing and processing. This network share some common elements, including clients, servers, workstations. Clients take on the form of personal computers also known as smartphones and workstations . Both of these pictures demonstrate the occurrence between the most common elements, hydrogen and helium, undergoing fusion. Sometimes when dealing with mathematical descriptions of specific phenomenon concerning stars the complexity may become intense. However, we will explore common occurrences and changes of stars that can be described by simple mathematical relationships. One primary occurrence between stars that are approaching their later stages is a reduction in their radius. This occurs when elements such as hydrogen and helium in the center of the star change into gaseous iron from electron exchanges and other processes. Eventually the star becomes very dense and the radius of the star is reduced. By the conservation of angular momentum in this case, the velocity must increase due to the decreased radius (Kippenhahn, 194 95). Lets do a calculation to show this. By the conservation of angular momentum we get this equation: Ii wi = If wf, where Ii is the initial moment of inertia, wi is the initial angular speed, and If and wf are the final products of what I just listed. The moment of inertia of a sphere is (2/5)mR^2, where m is the mass and R is the radius. Plugging these into the equation Ii wi = If wf, we get, (2/5)mRi^2 wi = (2/5)mRf^2 wf. ... As time went on, it was recognized that women needed to be somewhat shielded from actions that her husband could take, which she had no control over. There have been many debates about this clause because the appropriate grounds for divorce are unclear. Some believe that a man can divorce a woman merely because he likes another one better (B. p.74). There is no safeguard against this because it is up to the man s judgment. The requirements of the Ketubah and the Get may not convince the man to stay married. The fact remains that on the one hand; a wife could not initiate a divorce without appealing to a Beit Din, and on the other hand may be divorced without her consent. The Talmud states A woman may be divorced with her consent or without it (B. 81). Rabbenu Gershom made a ruling that banned the divorcement of a woman without her consent. Although this is a positive legislation, a Beit Din has the power to revoke it when they deem necessary. The most problematic law is that while it is not always necessary for a woman to consent to a divorce, a man can give a divorce with only his full consent (Yevamot 112b) (B. 97). It is then up to the courts and the community to try to convince him to give his wife a divorce. Many women have faced this problem of being an Agunah (anchored wife), chained to her husband until he agrees to a divorce. I understand that people get emotional when things like divorce and custody arises and things can get out of hand, but in this case, I feel he went a little overboard only thinking about himself and not considering the consequences this all had on his ex wife and minor child. He was definitely unprofessional and even one of the judges said if someone asks me what vexatious litigation looks like, the former husband s various filings in this divorce case, especially his antics in these post judgment proceedings, are an excellent example (Judge Farmer, 1997). Judges and lawyers have a higher standard to go by, if this type of action is not tolerated when representing a client, then it definitely should not be tolerated by a lawyer in his own case.
