WHO IS A MINOR CHILD?
A minor is usually a child under the age of 18.
Currently, there are significant cultural challenges
affecting the children who are under this category
in the 21st Century. Concurrently, these children
(both male and female) are also faced with a major
biological formation which is penned the Puberty
Stage; another variant of biological discovery and
misunderstanding is LGBTQ (Lesbian, Gay,
Bisexual,Transgender or Queer).

The issues and problems surrounding the
growth, exposure and vulnerability of the
minor children requires parenting to be
purposeful. When achieving purposeful
parenting becomes impossible, achieving a
well cultured child becomes impossible. But
there are solutions to the problems, it only
requires that all parents, stakeholders,
handlers or minders of children be available
and informed to support the children
especially in their formative years.

THE PUBERTY REALITY
The puberty stage is a notable aspect of growing
up, a stage where IDENTITY is formed. In the
physical sense, vital organs of the body develop
but in reality, and silently, the identity of the
minor maturates. Whatever happens at this stage
informs the healthy body, mind, potential and the
general life of the minor. Puberty stage is another
door to the wider world for a minor.This stage
usually determines how the minor interprets
family, relationships, sexuality and sex.

When your minor child becomes sexually
active or otherwise, pay attention to what is
present or absent at this stage of his or her
life. Some of the things that negatively
affect the silently maturing identity of the
minor child at this stage are dysfunctional
home (resulting from domestic abuse – the
abuse by one partner against the other in an
intimate relationship) and child abuse
(including physical, sexual or emotional
abuse).

To digress a bit, neglect is gradually becoming the way
things work nowadays. Parenting is being outsourced
for reasons best known.
Outsourced parenting happens when you, as a father or
mother, who is supposed to be primarily responsible for
the welfare of your child, passes the responsibility of
parenting to others like relatives, teachers, school,
house help, neighbours, church/mosque, to mention
but a few.There are acceptable and justifiable reasons
why you can choose to put your child or children in a
boarding school.

Putting a minor in a boarding school is not
supposed to be a bad idea because it once
worked at the glorious past. But today, we are
seeing parents who wrestle with school
authorities and threatens to take legal actions
against the school when there is justifiable
reason to discipline the child even in the most
civilized and modest way.The parent is not
available, discipline is not available, moral
instructions are jettisoned for class and status.
What is the fate and hope for your child in this

BECOMING SEXUALLY ACTIVE
Sexuality is part of identity.There is a level of
sexual vulnerability that sets in a minor when he
or she is neglected emotionally. Human make-up
is uniquely attention seeking. Are you aware that
your child needs your attention? If you are not
aware or you are not sure about this, then perhaps
you should know that he or she is getting it
elsewhere, somewhere that may be harmful for
his or her future; somewhere that may cause your
family an avoidable embarrassment.

Minors can also become sexually active
when the neglect of parents or guidance
push them to some sort of abuses, abuses
they should never have in the first place.
May God have mercy.Who is fondling with
your precious daughter or son’s genitals?
Find out today and make up your mind to be
emotionally, physically and socially available
for your children.

THE SOCIAL MEDIA DILEMMA
The social media has come to stay, what you
and your child chooses to do with it is what
counts.You will not always be beside your
daughter or son to censor what he or she is
doing online. But he or she can learn from
you.You are his or her role model before
someone else outside there (onsite or online).
You can set a pace for your child on the best
way to utilize the social media and the
internet in general. Which social media group
have you introduced your child to? 9

Your child needs to belong, you can decide
where that will be.There are many bad social
media groups out there, and there are pretty
good ones too. Or you don’t know? Well you
should make research for your children’s
sake. It is allowed that your child knows more
than you do, but don’t be a parent that is not
inclined to the reality of the moment in your
child’s world. Don’t become an old school in
your child’s world. Be involved to set a pace.

PARENTAL PARTNERSHIP
Become a friend to your child and you will
have succeeded in becoming his or her
celebrity.The minors of today value celebrity.
You should become one to your minor. Who
are celebrities? They are simply popular
people that shape and sharpen perspectives.
Have you noticed that the reason some
children wear rags is because there is a
celebrity out there that is doing same?

And perhaps, there are parents buying rags
for them.The same is applicable to sexual
atrocities of some today’s minors. If you
have seen or heard about one minor sexual
atrocity of recent, do not judge until you
investigate his or her background. By that I
mean the functionality of his or her family
and close environment.

What do you need to do to win your child
over? Start by becoming his or her friend. It
starts with being interested in what is
happening in his or her world.You do not
have to embrace all that are in it, just care
to know why your child is interested in
such. Remember that your parenting must
be purposeful. Hope you get it?

Adopt a parenting style that is
somewhat partnering and not
controlling. Be a marketer of moral
principles to your children. How do
marketers succeed in business?They
become purposefully professional in
appealing to the sense of acceptance
of their prospective customers. If
winning your child over involves you
taking up role play, please do not
hesitate to do so on time.

GODLY PARTNERSHIP
You cannot win the heart of your child over if you do
not make personal commitment towards seeking and
understanding the heart of God concerning your child.
The bible says in Psalms 127:3 that children are the
heritage from the Lord.There is an urgent demand
from God that you lead your children in the way of
The Lord.

sometimes make it difficult for your child
to believe in God’s goodness.The
greatest thing you can begin to do is to
feed your children with the Gospel of
Jesus Christ. Doing this will be the best
foundation to establish every other
moral and social principles.
