What's New and What's Out for SharePoint Server 2019 On-Premises

Editor's Notes

  • #8 App Launcher is bare bones for stand-alone / non-hybrid install “SharePoint Home” is a My Sites page accessed from the App Launcher which provides a personalized view of followed sites Replaces similar “Sites” page Communication site template exists in Office 365 for some time
  • #9 Modern team sites are not “group connected” as Teams is a cloud-only capability SP2016 FP2 had no OOTB “modern” webparts Enterprise Search Centre site template uses classic webparts hence doesn’t have modern search experience
  • #10 Configure max storage limit in Central Admin in web app General Settings; GUI accepts values larger than 15GB???
  • #14 Health Analyzer rules detect a missing encryption key needed to retrieve People Picker credentials or SMTP authentication credentials Get-SPContentDatabaseOrphanedData replaces "stsadm.exe -o enumallwebs" Several User Profile Synchronization cmdlets Several Application Credential Key cmdlets
  • #15 https://github.com/SharePoint/sp-dev-docs/wiki SPFX latest release for SharePoint Online v1.7, November 8, 2018 SPFX release for SharePoint 2016 Feature Pack 2 v1.0.2, early 2017
