In this lesson we compare our self with the character and nature of God on earth, Jesus. Both audio and slides can be viewed together at www.cmcoc.org Sermon by: Brian Birdow
This document discusses how to avoid offending others and being offended in spiritual matters. It emphasizes resolving conflicts privately according to Jesus' teachings in Matthew 18:15-17. Unresolved conflicts can give Satan an advantage and hinder spiritual life. The document urges believers to be considerate of weaker faith, forgive readily, and restore fallen brothers through confrontation guided by love.
This document summarizes a sermon on 1 Corinthians 13:5, which says love does not brag. It defines bragging as boastfulness and discusses how some in the Corinthian church were arrogant about their wisdom, wealth, or spiritual gifts. The sermon teaches that Christians should not boast but should humble themselves, as God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble. Believers' worth comes from understanding God, not their own accomplishments or status.
The document discusses how Christians should view suffering. It says they should (1) not be surprised by suffering but instead rejoice, as suffering refines faith and purifies character. It also says (2) believers should be willing to suffer for their faith with joy, as suffering is part of the sanctification process. Finally, it says (3) Christians should entrust themselves to God and commit their souls to him while doing what is right, as God is faithful and in control.

The document discusses Paul's teachings on exercising spiritual gifts from Romans 12:6-21. It provides commentary on several key points:
1) Christians should use their spiritual gifts, such as prophesying, serving, teaching, exhorting, giving, ruling, and showing mercy, according to the proportion of faith given by God.
2) Believers should show sincere love for one another, preferring others over oneself. They should also generously share with those in need and welcome others hospitably.
3) Christians are called to live peaceably with all, not taking revenge or responding to evil with more evil, but overcoming evil with good by showing love even to enemies.
Does your family ever quarrel? Why do fights and arguments erupt, even among Christians? Based on James 3:13-18 how might “earthly wisdom” provoke fights and quarrels? How do you think “wisdom from heaven” helps us resolve conflicts we face? What does James say is the source of quarrels (4:1–2)? James says we don't receive even when we ask because we ask with wrong motives (3). What are examples of right and wrong motives in prayer? What else does James say is necessary in order to come to God in prayer (4–10)? What does it mean to be humble, to submit to God (6–7)? James gives several suggestions (7–10) for humbling our-selves before God. How does each contribute to a humble spirit? Are there situations where humility could help you become a source of peace this coming week?
The document provides encouragement to say no to discouragement and open our hearts to God by relying on Him through faith, prayer, Bible study, and church attendance. It lists several biblical principles: return to God when feeling astray; radiate happiness and love for others as Jesus taught; rely only on God, not people or possessions, as He never disappoints; rejoice in God through praise and worship; and open your heart to Jesus through hearing and obeying the gospel call to salvation.
This document reviews different personality types and examines how Christians should model themselves after Christ. It discusses "negative" or "faithless" personalities and compares them to Christ who was humble, loving, and sacrificing. The document encourages readers to daily examine themselves in view of Christ's example and make necessary changes to become more like him.

This document provides guidance on allowing God to guide one's life based on scripture. It outlines how to guide actions with generosity, feelings with love and honesty, relationships with God through prayer and dedication, keeping one's heart right, having full trust in troubles, being thankful in successes, being repentant of sin, helpful towards others, engaging in daily worship, focusing one's mind on noble things, and ultimately trusting and following God's lead through obeying and believing the gospel.
This document discusses the conditional nature of God's grace and salvation. It provides several biblical examples of people who rejected God's grace through stubborn rebellion and unrepentant sin. The scriptures show that true believers can fall from grace if they neglect their salvation and turn to lust and ungodliness. God does not tolerate sin but disciplines and may condemn those who despise His grace. Overall, the document argues that salvation is secure only for those who live faithfully to Christ; backsliding and willful sin can lead to rejection if unrepented.
How to know that you are dying spirituallyMichael Smith
This document discusses signs that a Christian may be dying spiritually and provides advice for spiritual renewal. It notes that Christians can fall away if the story of the cross no longer moves them, if they are fooling themselves, or have left their first love. It encourages readers to participate in worship, save souls, and avoid worldly attractions. For those failing to do what they know is right, it advises repenting quickly. The conclusion calls all who are dying spiritually to be saved through Jesus by obeying the gospel through hearing, believing, repenting of sins, confessing faith, baptism, and remaining faithful.
God sees work differently than is commonly understood. God views work as ministry and a way to fulfill one's calling and destiny. The local church should equip and train believers to see their work in this way and destroy the works of the devil in their spheres of influence. However, many churches fail to adequately train and commission believers for their work, instead focusing ministry only within the four walls of the church.

This document discusses the importance of humility. It argues that humility is not weakness, but rather requires courage and confidence. True humility is being Christlike by thinking of others more than yourself and making choices to serve others instead of promoting yourself. The goal is to cultivate humility through practices like listening to others, admitting mistakes, surrendering plans to God, and preferring others over yourself. When people act with humility inspired by Christ's example, God honors and exalts them.
The document is notes from a seminary lesson on Doctrine and Covenants 18. It discusses how the Book of Mormon helps build up the Church, the Lord's promise to those who build on the foundation of His gospel, and the Lord's command to cry repentance in response to increasing wickedness. It emphasizes that the worth of souls is great to God, as shown by Jesus Christ's suffering for all people, and that those who help others repent will feel great joy.
Session 8 Overcoming through Intercessory Prayer pptOs Hillman
This document discusses the concepts of authority, intercession, and identificational confession. It emphasizes that God has given authority and responsibility to mankind to fulfill His redemptive plan and enforce His covenants on Earth. Effective intercession requires identification, agony/travail, and exercising authority. The inner court role of intercession is key to defeating spiritual enemies and seeing breakthrough in the physical realm. Examples are given of biblical figures like Moses, Jesus and Joseph who powerfully interceded. Transformation of cities and regions starts with repentance, prayer, humility, unity and knowing God's ways.
This document discusses different attitudes including attitudes toward money, patience, healing, and prayer. It provides several bible verses about having the right attitude of patience when dealing with difficulties or the wicked, being ready for Jesus' return, the power of prayer, and how a positive spirit can aid healing while a negative one makes sickness harder to bear.
This document outlines the topics that will be covered in a semester-long study on spiritual disciplines for men. It discusses how disciplines can act as a "bullet proof vest" or "duty belt" to protect against temptation. Some key disciplines mentioned include purity, marriage, fatherhood, and the mind. References are made to authors on disciplines like R. Kent Hughes. Statistics are given on challenges facing men today like pornography use. Examples are given from the Bible like King David to illustrate how disciplines can prevent falling into sin. The document encourages finding accountability and memorizing scripture to aid in pursuing purity. It provides details for the next session.
The document discusses how some churches have adopted branding and marketing strategies focused on creating consumer-driven "brand experiences" to attract members. This approach risks making the church's message and identity dependent on trends rather than Jesus Christ. True spiritual growth comes from discipleship, obedience to Christ, and transforming people's lives, not from marketing techniques aimed at fulfilling felt needs or gaining market share.
This document discusses the themes of grace and growing in grace through faith. It notes that salvation comes by grace through faith as a gift from God, not by works. It teaches that believers grow in grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ by growing up, growing in, and growing out. The document also examines a passage from James that discusses the source of quarrels being worldly pleasures rather than asking God, and encourages believers to humble themselves before God to receive greater grace and be exalted.
The document discusses maintaining faith in God while at university. It addresses abiding in God, not compromising faith, guarding one's heart, communicating with God through prayer and scripture, being led by the Holy Spirit, staying alert against temptation, and discerning God's voice through aligning with scripture. Maintaining consistency when away from home and dealing with isolation through honesty, discipline, and accountability are also covered. Overall, the document provides guidance for young Christians on growing and living out their faith during their university experience.

We are all subject to emotions or feelings. Allowing our emotions or our feelings to guide us in religion can result in serious eternal consequences contrary to what our feelings intended. God gives us guidance in the Bible concerning the right place for our feelings in serving Him. This lesson deals with Emotion in Religion
In this first lesson we examine the spirit that every Christian must have. To show things that commonly weigh us down in our spiritual walk. Both audio and slides can be found together at www.cmcoc.org
Sermon by: Brian Birdow
This lesson encourages us to have the Spirit of a Christian through examples that the Bible provides. It instructs us on the type of Spirit that a Christian should show in their every day lives and reassures us of the love of God, even when things are going bad.
This document discusses wisdom for parents based on biblical passages. It lists six examples of mistakes made by biblical parents: Noah's drunkenness, Lot's materialism, Jacob's partiality, David's spoiling of his son, Eli's tolerance of his sons' misbehavior, and Jehoram's marriage which turned his heart away from God. The document emphasizes training children according to God's word and correcting them with love.
This document discusses judging and slander. It begins by defining slander as a malicious statement intended to hurt someone. While Scripture warns against slander, people often engage in it, even within the church. The document urges not taking revenge, as God is the ultimate defender. It notes James says not to condemn others, as only God can judge inner thoughts. The document clarifies this does not mean never making judgments, as believers will one day judge angels and are called to discern within the church through disciplinary processes aimed at restoration, not condemnation. It closes by reminding people to examine themselves first before addressing issues in others.
Mixed signals are caused by not listening well, making assumptions, and being in environments that promote confusion. This leads to confusion, chaos, and potential condemnation. To avoid this, we must send the right signals by building good habits at home through training, enforcement of boundaries, and leading exemplary lives through our conversations and good works that glorify God.

Psalm 34:11-14King James Version (KJV)
11 Come, ye children, hearken unto me: I will teach you the fear of the Lord.
12 What man is he that desireth life, and loveth many days, that he may see good?
13 Keep thy tongue from evil, and thy lips from speaking guile.
14 Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it.
Everything has a beginning; a start. Being in the middle of a thing can slow you down, take away some of your verve. Nearing the end, some increase speed to get there while others do whatever they can to put it off. Know where you are in the process and act accordingly.

Knowledge makes people arrogant. This concept seems to be completely different from the world’s thinking. If I learn more, then I should know the breadth of knowledge. I should be like a learned person, and I should be more humble. But why the Bible said so, if this is a truth that violates the rules of the world. In this chapter, let us carefully look for the truth of the Bible for detail analysis.
This document provides a summary of a sermon given on Hebrews 12:1-11 about God's discipline of believers. The sermon discusses how believers are to run the race of faith with endurance, looking to Jesus as the example. It explains that God disciplines believers as children, for purposes of correction, prevention of sin, and education. Though discipline is difficult, it produces righteousness and peace. Believers are encouraged to view difficulties as God's training and endure hardship, trusting that God is refining them.

Lucid Dreaming: Understanding the Risks and Benefits
The ability to control one's dreams or for the dreamer to be aware that he or she is dreaming. This process, called lucid dreaming, has some potential risks as well as many fascinating benefits. However, many people are hesitant to try it initially for fear of the potential dangers. This article aims to clarify these concerns by exploring both the risks and benefits of lucid dreaming.
The Benefits of Lucid Dreaming
Lucid dreaming allows a person to take control of their dream world, helping them overcome their fears and eliminate nightmares. This technique is particularly useful for mental health. By taking control of their dreams, individuals can face challenging scenarios in a controlled environment, which can help reduce anxiety and increase self-confidence.
Addressing Common Concerns
Physical Harm in Dreams Lucid dreaming is fundamentally safe. In a lucid dream, everything is a creation of your mind. Therefore, nothing in the dream can physically harm you. Despite the vividness and realness of the dream experience, it remains entirely within your mental landscape, posing no physical danger.
Mental Health Risks Concerns about developing PTSD or other mental illnesses from lucid dreaming are unfounded. As soon as you wake up, it's clear that the events experienced in the dream were not real. On the contrary, lucid dreaming is often seen as a therapeutic tool for conditions like PTSD, as it allows individuals to reframe and manage their thoughts.
Potential Risks of Lucid Dreaming
While generally safe, lucid dreaming does come with a few risks as well:
Mixing Dream Memories with Reality Long-term lucid dreamers might occasionally confuse dream memories with real ones, creating false memories. This issue is rare and preventable by maintaining a dream journal and avoiding lucid dreaming about real-life people or places too frequently.
Escapism Using lucid dreaming to escape reality can be problematic if it interferes with your daily life. While it is sometimes beneficial to escape and relieve the stress of reality, relying on lucid dreaming for happiness can hinder personal growth and productivity.
Feeling Tired After Lucid Dreaming Some people report feeling tired after lucid dreaming. This tiredness is not due to the dreams themselves but often results from not getting enough sleep or using techniques that disrupt sleep patterns. Taking breaks and ensuring adequate sleep can prevent this.
Mental Exhaustion Lucid dreaming can be mentally taxing if practiced excessively without breaks. It’s important to balance lucid dreaming with regular sleep to avoid mental fatigue.
Lucid dreaming is safe and beneficial if done with caution. It has many benefits, such as overcoming fear and improving mental health, and minimal risks. There are many resources and tutorials available for those interested in trying it.
Lição 12: João 15 a 17 – O Espírito Santo e a Oração Sacerdotal | 2° Trimestr...OmarBarrezueta1

Tales of This and Another Life - Chapters.pdfMashaL38
This book is one of the best of the translated ones, for it has a warning character for all those who find themselves in the experience of material life. Irmão X provides a shrewd way of describing the subtleties and weaknesses that can jeopardize our intentions, making us more attentive and vigilant by providing us with his wise pages, reminding us between the lines of the Master's words: "Pray and watch."
The Book of Revelation, filled with symbolic and apocalyptic imagery, presents one of its most striking visions in Revelation 9:3-12—the locust army. Understanding the significance of this locust army provides insight into the broader themes of divine judgment, protection, and the ultimate triumph of God’s will as depicted in Revelation.

Astronism, Cosmism and Cosmodeism: the space religions espousing the doctrine...Cometan
This lecture created by Brandon Taylorian (aka Cometan) specially for the CESNUR Conference held Bordeaux in June 2024 provides a brief introduction to the legacy of religious and philosophical thought that Astronism emerges from, namely the discourse on transcension started assuredly by the Cosmists in Russia in the mid-to-late nineteenth century and then carried on and developed by Mordecai Nessyahu in Cosmodeism in the twentieth century. Cometan also then provides some detail on his story in founding Astronism in the early twenty-first century from 2013 along with details on the central Astronist doctrine of transcension. Finally, the lecture concludes with some contributions made by space religions and space philosophy and their influences on various cultural facets in art, literature and film.

Mantra Yoga is an exact science. "Mananat trayate iti mantrah- by the Manana (constant thinking or recollection) of which one is protected or is released from the round of births and deaths, is Mantra." That is called Mantra by the meditation (Manana) on which the Jiva or the individual soul attains freedom from sin, enjoyment in heaven and final liberation, and by the aid of which it attains in full the fourfold fruit (Chaturvarga), i.e., Dharma, Artha, Kama and Moksha.
