We are all subject to emotions or feelings. Allowing our emotions or our feelings to guide us in religion can result in serious eternal consequences contrary to what our feelings intended. God gives us guidance in the Bible concerning the right place for our feelings in serving Him. This lesson deals with Emotion in Religion
Repentance is one of the things Jesus requires one to do in order to be saved. He is very clear on this and what one must do to really repent is described in the Lord's word. To what extent must one repent?
Paul states the following in Rom 1:18-20 18 "For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;
19 Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them. 20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: "..KJV
He points to the things that are made, God's physical creation as containing the evidence for His power and Godhead and states that ungodly men are without excuse when they deny Him. This PowerPoint examines the fact that God provided patterns to be followed that evidences his intelligent design that is to be followed.
A study on what the Bible says about The Fear of the Lord, what it means, is it required, examples in the Bible, any consequences if people fear Him or not.

Jesus teaches a wonder parable about farming, soil, and the seed. The seed is the word of God the Gospel. In this lesson we will cover the value of the farmer and the seed.
Jesus would often times teach thorough parables. In this lesson we examine the teaching of the sower and soils. Both audio and slides can be viewed together at www.cmcoc.org

Knowledge makes people arrogant. This concept seems to be completely different from the world’s thinking. If I learn more, then I should know the breadth of knowledge. I should be like a learned person, and I should be more humble. But why the Bible said so, if this is a truth that violates the rules of the world. In this chapter, let us carefully look for the truth of the Bible for detail analysis.
Today's SS lesson, "Living As Strangers". We Christians are to be in the world, looking to love and point people to God's grace by our examples and our genuine good deeds. We first must reject falseness (the old life) in our own lives, then we will be free to be Jesus servants by others
This lesson goes over the reasons why there is so much confusion in the world regarding the gospel, and what we as Christians can do to help combat the issue through study. Both audio and slides can be found together at www.cmcoc.org
The Revelation Chapter 6 Working Copy.docxFred Gosnell
In this sixth chapter, the Lamb begins to open the six seals that will send judgment upon the earth. The voice of a creature sounding like thunder invites John to come and see. John sees a white horse. The Lamb opens the second seal and a second creature tells John to come and see and he sees another horse, a red one that was to take peace from the earth. The third seal is opened and John sees a third horse, a black one. When the fourth seal is opened, the voice of the fourth creature says come and see to John. This time he sees a pale horse whose name is Death and Hades. When the fifth seal was opened, John saw under the altar the souls of those who were slain for the word of God. They asked how long before the Lord would avenge their blood. We are told that they were given white robes and they were told to rest awhile until their fellow servants and brethren should be killed. The sixth seal is opened and there is a great earthquake, the sun becomes black as sackcloth, the stars of heaven fell unto the earth even as the fig tree casts her green figs when she is shaken by a mighty wind. The figurative language continues to tell John what is going to happen after this sixth seal was opened. The final paragraph in this chapter tells us that the great day of the Lamb's wrath has come. Study this chapter and see what is revealed to the apostle John for our benefit.

John continues his description of his heavenly vision. There is an individual on the throne holding a scroll in his right hand that is sealed with seven seals. A strong messenger asks who is worthy to open the book and loose the seals, John weeps when no one is found to do so. One of the elders says there is someone and identifies him, A description follows of the actions taken by the individual and those of the four creatures and twenty four elders that were there. There are prayers described and a new song is sung by the large number of individuals there. The individual who is worshipped is noted at thye end of the chapter.

In this chapter, John sees a door opened in heaven and a trumpet talking to him tells him come up and he would show him things that would take place after this. John says he was "in spirit", not "in the spirit" as many translations say. John sees a throne, one on the throne described like precious stones, elders, crowns, lightnings, thunders, seven lamps, voices, creatures, an eagle, and worshipping

The third chapter of Revelation containing the last 3 letters to the seven local churches in Asia. One assembly is dead. However, there are those in it that are faithful to the Lord. A lesson for us. Only the Lord knows the condition of the saints in local churches and we ought to be careful how we look at them. The second local assembly was commended by the Lord for the little strength that they had and the fact that they had kept His word and not denied His name. The third assembly was lukewarm, their works being neither cold nor hot. The Lord considered this to be a sickening condition. They saw themselves as being rich and not needing anything. The Lord gave them the guidance they needed to follow. Two of the churches were told to repent. The Lord reminded them that He rebuked and chastened those who He loved. Those who overcome would be given the opportunity to sit in the Lord's throne. As in every letter, the Lord reminds them to hear what the Spirit says to the churches.
The Revelation Chapter 2 Working Copy .docxFred Gosnell
The beginning of the Lord's letters to the seven churches in Asia. In chapter two the Lord addresses the first 4 churches. One was faithful to the Lord even though they were persecuted and poor. They were told to be faithful unto death. One was commended for a number of things they had done, but were criticized for leaving their first love. One had been somewhat faithful even though they lived where Satan's seat was. However, there were those among them who held the doctrine of Balaam and the teachings of the Nicolaitans. The last one was commended because their love, faith and patience had increased. Unfortunately, they had allowed a false prophetess to teach immorality and idolatry. These three were all told to repent by the Lord.

Notes on Chapter one of the Revelation of Jesus Christ which God gave to Him to show to His servants which must shortly come to pass; and He sent and signified it by His messenger unto His servant John. John addressed the Revelation to the seven churches that were in Asia at the time.
THE REVELATION OF JESUS CHRIST Intro.docxFred Gosnell
Introduction to a study of the Revelation of Jesus Christ using bible passages from Old Testament prophets to understand the figurative, apocalyptic language Jesus provided to the apostle John in writing the book. Noting the internal evidence in the book and statements of other apostles to show the early date for its production and its reference to the destruction of Jerusalem. These conclusions are not original to me having been published by others such as Foy Wallace whose work I refer to throughout where I agree with it.
Life after death according to the Bible. Jesus as the faithful witness went through everything we do in life. When He died, He went to Hades according to Acts 2 like everyone else. This lesson examines that process. This translation into Telugu of the original lesson was done by Manohar Babu P to whom we are grateful.
Jesus has provided us with a pattern to follow in the words He supplied by the Holy Spirit to the inspired writers of the New Testament. We must follow His pattern in what we do in order to be faithful to Him. If we do not follow His pattern, we will not be what or who He intended. He will not recognize us nor accept what we have done. Jesus will judge us by that pattern of sound words that He supplied as He said in John 12:48. This lesson shows that.
This is the third lesson in a series about Jesus and the guidance He has given us. The first lesson is the Faithful Witness which is Jesus. He is the Creator and He came here in the flesh to save us. As the faithful witness He went through everything in the flesh that we experience, yet did not sin. He has provided in His New Testament what was witnessed by Him and we can depend upon what He says. The second lesson is Being Faithful Unto Death. Jesus provided all of the guidance His disciples need to be faithful to Him until they die. This third lesson looks at what Jesus has provided to us about what happens when we die, where we go, and the fact that we continue to live even though our body is in the grave. Jesus being the Creator and the faithful witness can be depended upon by every human being to have provided reliable information on life after death,
A study of being faithful unto death as Jesus tells the church at Smyrna, Jesus being the faithful witness who has been through what we experience is the only one who can tell us how to be faithful unto death This lesson includes some of the guidance He provided us.
A lesson about Jesus as the Faithful Witness based on Jesus coming here in the flesh and experiencing what we experience in the weakness of the flesh yet not committing any sins. Scriptures noting His resurrection as proof of everything He said to be true. Scriptures that express what He will use as the standard of judgment of all accountable people.
A study of who Jesus is according to the Old Testament and the New Testament. His life on this earth was short even though His goal was monumental, to seek and save that which was lost. He accomplished His goal by paying the price for our sins which we as sinners could not pay. Take a little time to learn about our Savior and Friend, Jesus Christ.
Jesus only built one church which is a spiritual body. In the New Testament we find that the Christians guided by inspired apostles assembled together as local assemblies or churches in order to accomplish the work the Lord gave them to do. That simple arrangement resulted in those local churches preaching the gospel throughout the whole world as the Lord commanded to be done. These slides are about those local assemblies and suggest that the Lord has not changed this arrangement.

In Jude 17-23 Jude shifts from piling up examples of false teachers from the Old Testament to a series of practical exhortations that flow from apostolic instruction. He preserves for us what may well have been part of the apostolic catechism for the first generation of Christ-followers. In these instructions Jude exhorts the believer to deal with 3 different groups of people: scoffers who are "devoid of the Spirit", believers who have come under the influence of scoffers and believers who are so entrenched in false teaching that they need rescue and pose some real spiritual risk for the rescuer. In all of this Jude emphasizes Jesus' call to rescue straying sheep, leaving the 99 safely behind and pursuing the 1.

Evangelization in the footsteps of Saint Vincent de Paul
Emotion In Religion
1. EMOTION IN RELIGION
• We all have emotions or feelings. Companies
use this fact to produce advertisements that
appeal to our emotions to get us to buy their
product. Charities appeal to our emotions to
try to get us to give money to them in order
for them to accomplish a certain task. Public
service announcements play on our emotions
to try to modify our behavior. They all do this
because they know it works on some people.
5/6/2020 1
2. EMOTION IN RELIGION
• Rom 10:2 For I bear them record that they have a zeal
of God, but not according to knowledge.
• Phil 3:6 Concerning zeal, persecuting the church;
touching the righteousness which is in the law,
blameless.
• Acts 26:9 I verily thought with myself, that I ought to
do many things contrary to the name of Jesus of
Nazareth.
• 2 Cor 2:7 So that contrariwise ye ought rather to
forgive him, and comfort him, lest perhaps such a one
should be swallowed up with overmuch sorrow.
5/6/2020 2
3. EMOTION IN RELIGION
• So, it is evident from these passages that zeal is no
guarantee that one is doing something according to
God’s will. The Jews were zealous but not according
to a correct knowledge of what God accepted.
• Paul was zealous and a persecutor of the church.
Jesus had said per John 16:2 They shall put you out of
the synagogues: yea, the time cometh, that
whosoever killeth you will think that he doeth God
service. KJV
• Paul’s conscience was clear in doing so.
• One’s sorrow can cause one to be overcome
5/6/2020 3
4. EMOTION IN RELIGION
• Paul notes that the zealous emotions of the
Jews and his own did not result in an
outcome pleasing to God or Jesus. Un-
fortunately, being guided by emotion in
religion is still pretty common and the results
continue to be much the same today.
• So, what role should emotion play in religion,
according to the Word of God?
5/6/2020 4
5. EMOTION IN RELIGION
• Emotion has a place in serving God
• John 2:13-17 the righteous anger of Jesus
• John 11:4, 34-35 Jesus wept
• John 15:7-15 Jesus’ love for His disciples
• Acts 2:41-46 gladly … .gladness
• Acts 5:5 & 11 great fear…
• Acts 8:2-11 great lamentation
• 1 Thess 5:16 rejoice evermore
5/6/2020 5
6. EMOTION IN RELIGION
• Emotion is not a standard of judgment
• Pr 14:12 what seems right can be wrong
• Matt 7:21-23 result of what seems right
• Pr 28:26 trusting in one’s heart is foolish
• Jer 17:9The heart is deceitful above all things
• Ps 12:4 over confidence in self
• Pr 16:18 pride and arrogance
5/6/2020 6
7. EMOTION IN RELIGION
• Emotion in the New Testament – Joy
• Heb 12:2 for the joy … set before Him
• Lk 24:52 they had great joy
• Acts 2:22-26 David ….rejoiced
• Rom 15:8-13 rejoice ..fill you with joy
• 2 Cor 1:9-14 ..our rejoicing..not with fleshly
• Phil 1:25-28 your rejoicing be more
• Phil 2:12-18 joy and rejoice on obedience
5/6/2020 7
8. EMOTION IN RELIGION
• Emotion results from obedience
• Acts 5:40-41 rejoiced they were –to suffer
• Acts 8:35-39 eunuch rejoiced
• Acts 11:22-23 Barnabas glad for Gentiles
• Acts 16:30-34 jailer rejoiced after obeying
• Heb 5:8-9; 12:1-2 Jesus obeyed, joy, endured
• 1 Pet 1:3-9 begotten ..rejoice with joy
5/6/2020 8
9. EMOTION IN RELIGION
• True joy and satisfaction comes from knowing
we are obeying God and submitting to Him
when we do what His Word says, not the words
of men
• James 4:7-10 ..submit to God ..draw nigh
• 1 Thess 2:13 received the word of God
• Col 2:20-23 after the ..doctrines of men
• A desire to learn more will ensure growth per
• 1 Pet 2:1-3 desire the sincere milk of the
word
5/6/2020 9
10. EMOTION IN RELIGION
• When our emotions are guided by what the word of
God says, we will avoid misplaced zeal and any other
emotion which may become counter productive to
our serving God.
• Rom 10:1-3 1 Brethren, my heart's desire and prayer
to God for Israel is, that they might be saved. 2 For I
bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but
not according to knowledge. 3 For they being ignorant
of God's righteousness, and going about to establish
their own righteousness, have not submitted
themselves unto the righteousness of God.
5/6/2020 10
11. EMOTION IN RELIGION
• We have all the guidance we need to be assured we
are pleasing God in what we do. Note:
• 2 Peter 1:2-4 2 Grace and peace be multiplied unto
you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our
Lord, 3 According as his divine power hath given unto
us all things that pertain unto life and godliness,
through the knowledge of him that hath called us to
glory and virtue: 4 Whereby are given unto us
exceeding great and precious promises: that by these
ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having
escaped the corruption that is in the world through
lust. KJV
5/6/2020 11
12. EMOTION IN RELIGION
• Being partakers of the divine nature, it
matters not what we might go through in this
life. Notice what Paul says in …
• Rom 8:31-39 …If God be for us, who can be
against us? …we are more than conquerors
through him that loved us. KJV
• David had a similar attitude per …
• Ps 118:6 The LORD is on my side; I will not
fear: what can man do unto me? KJV
5/6/2020 12
13. EMOTION IN RELIGION
• The Lord built His church in the first century
exactly how He wanted it. He added the first
disciples to it per Acts 2:41 & 47.
• His church is a spiritual body which exists in
heaven per Hebrews 12:22-23. There is only 1
• There are local congregations referred to in the
New Testament per Romans 16:16.
• They all follow the same pattern taught by the
apostles per 1 Cor 4:17,16:1-2 and 2 Tim 1:13.
5/6/2020 13
14. EMOTION IN RELIGION
• The Lord requires the following to be added:
• Mk 16:16 …He that believeth & is baptized
• Lk 13:3 & 5 ..except you repent
• Lk 12:8-9 ..whosoever shall confess me
• Acts 8:36-37..what doth hinder me to be
baptized?
• Acts 22:16 arise and be baptized and wash
away thy sins
