Sermon by Brian Birdow
This document discusses attitudes that lead to gratitude based on 1 Thessalonians 5:12-22. It outlines 10 attitudes mentioned in the passage: 1) Hold spiritual leaders in high esteem, 2) Be at peace among yourselves, 3) Treat others as you want to be treated, 4) Rejoice always, 5) Pray without ceasing, 6) In everything give thanks, 7) Do not quench the Spirit, 8) Do not despise prophecies, 9) Test all things and hold fast what is good, 10) Abstain from every form of evil. It encourages the reader to develop an attitude of gratitude and thanks in all circumstances.
John the Baptist preaches a baptism of repentance and baptizes Jesus in the Jordan River. When Jesus is baptized, the Holy Spirit descends on him like a dove and a voice from heaven declares "This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased." Although sinless, Jesus is baptized to fulfill all righteousness. His baptism marks the beginning of his public ministry and signifies his role as the Messiah.
This document provides encouragement for when times are dark or disappointing by highlighting examples from Jesus' life and teachings. It stresses that believers should let their light shine through persecution [Matthew 5:11-12], follow Jesus' example of remaining faithful even when angry or sad [Luke 19:45-48, 19:41], and overcome the world through faith in God's word [1 John 5:4-5; Matthew 6:19-21; Colossians 3:16]. It exhorts readers to stand firm through temptation by using God's armor and sword [Ephesians 6:10-18], remain faithful stewards of their heart, body, spirit, things, and service [1 Thessalonians 5
The document discusses Jesus being tempted by Satan in the wilderness. It describes each of the three temptations Jesus faced - to turn stones to bread, throw himself from the temple, and receive power and glory if he worshipped Satan instead of God. Each time, Jesus resisted temptation by quoting scripture. We can overcome temptation by storing God's word in our hearts, living a life pleasing to God through complete surrender and obedience.
GOD MAKES ALL THINGS BEAUTIFUL IN HIS TIMEStanley Tan
This document discusses God's timing in all things according to Ecclesiastes 3. It notes that God has made everything beautiful in its proper time. While people toil, God has set eternity in their hearts, yet they cannot understand God's plans from beginning to end. The best thing is for people to be happy and do good while alive. Overall, the document conveys that God has perfect timing for all things and people should trust in His plans rather than focus on short-term troubles or toil.
This document provides information about a church service at the Jackson Street Church of Christ. It includes a psalm reading about guilt and sin, then discusses the difference between feeling guilty and being guilty. It explains that guilt feelings can be caused by sin or conditioning, and can lead to misery or salvation. The document advises that Christians should remember Jesus died for our sins, confess sins to God and pray for forgiveness. For non-Christians, it suggests obeying the gospel to turn guilt into rejoicing. The closing asks attendees about any guilt feelings and encourages relying on God rather than living with guilt.

The document provides guidance on living a life of purity through Christ. It discusses finding freedom from sin by seeking God's glory, drinking from the living water of God's word, bringing sin into the light through confession, finding new direction through repentance, and relying on God's grace and accountability with other Christians to resist temptation. The key is an ongoing process of sanctification through one's identity and new life in Christ.
Church Leadership In the New Testament EdwardFudge
The document discusses church leadership in the New Testament based on examples from Jerusalem. It describes the first reported church decision to replace Judas, noting those involved were near Jesus, grounded Scripture, and divinely led. It also outlines the first act of organization where seven men were chosen to oversee serving tables. The Jerusalem conference process is summarized as involving stating positions, seeing what God is doing now, listening to Scripture afresh, proposing a gospel-centered solution, obtaining agreement, and announcing the Spirit-led decision. Other early glimpses show unity, generosity, acceptance of Saul, relief efforts, and meetings with elders and James. Observations are that apostles were witnesses and teachers with moral authority from proximity to Jesus, without succession
The document discusses the seventh petition of the Lord's Prayer - "deliver us from evil". It describes evil as referring to Satan, the world, and the evil within our own hearts. Satan uses schemes like accusations, inflaming lusts, disturbing peace, and causing bondage to sin. The document outlines our role in dealing with evil, such as fleeing temptation, mortifying the flesh, avoiding evil's appearance, resisting the devil through God's word, and focusing on heavenly things rather than worldly things.
This document discusses how to be correct in God's sight and find happiness. It states that we must repent when we sin and ask forgiveness to be right with God. It also says we can be happy if we don't take advice from ungodly people, stand with sinners, or mock others. Instead, we should love God's teachings and meditate on them. The ungodly are not truly happy and will not stand at judgment, while God watches over and guides the righteous. In the end, we must choose whether to be ungodly or righteous.
Matthew 9:36-38; Psalm 142:4 No one cared for my soul. Jesus had compassion on them because: He saw their depravity in sin - weary; He was their departure from God - scattered; He saw their destiny - hell; He was their despair - sheperdless; He sent His disciples to bring them to Him.
Under severe persecution, it was necessary for the church to go underground. God promised the church would remain forever. While the church did not cease, it did go into the wilderness.
Mt 13:15 For the hearts of this people have grown dull. Their ears are hard of hearing, And their eyes they have closed, Lest they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears, Lest they should understand with their hearts and turn, So that I should heal them.'
Moses and Jesus are presented as examples of faithfulness. While Moses was a faithful servant, Jesus was the son who built God's house. The author discusses the duties of preachers to hear, believe, respond, obey, and understand God's word. The word of God is described as alive, powerful, sharp, piercing, and able to discern and divide. It unmasks listeners and lays bare their faith or unbelief. The audience is encouraged to diligently enter God's rest and not fall behind through lack of faith like the Israelites who rebelled in the wilderness.
The gospel does not need to change to keep up with the times. While fashions, occupations, politics, and governments change, the gospel remains perfect and complete. It was designed by God to be a spiritual guide that draws people to God, saves them from sin, guides them as Christians, and keeps them saved. The gospel was effective among first-century Christians and the early church. It is intended to endure for all time as the means to produce faith and lead people from earth to heaven. The world may change, but the gospel cannot because it is perfect and does not need improvement.
Satan had destroyed a man by disconnecting him from God, entrapping him in an impure surroundings, and manipulating him into injuring himself. This man, possessed by an evil spirit called Legion, lived among tombs. When Jesus encountered him, he delivered the man by commanding the evil spirit to come out. Jesus' liberation defeated Satan and his numerous strong forces. However, the local people were repulsed by this and begged Jesus to leave their region, as they feared the loss of their possessions. The formerly possessed man then felt compelled to proclaim all that Jesus had done for him and how he had shown mercy.
September 27,2015- DISCIPLESHIP: YOU WERE CREATED TO BECOME LIKE CHRIST.Catherine Lirio
The document discusses how Christians can grow closer to God through difficult experiences. It explains that God uses (1) troubles, (2) temptations, and (3) offenses from others to teach believers, strengthen their character, and make them more like Jesus Christ. When Christians endure these hardships with patience, obedience, and a forgiving spirit, it leads to spiritual maturity and eternal rewards.
This document summarizes a church sermon about the Kingdom of God. It discusses how in the beginning, God created man to rule over the earth and live in relationship with God, man, creation, and himself in the Garden of Eden, representing God's kingdom on earth. However, man fell from this paradise through sin, breaking his relationships and subjecting himself to death, toil, and a fallen world. The sermon then discusses how the gospel message of Jesus Christ offers salvation from this fallen state and a restoration of God's kingdom through committing one's life to Christ. It announces an upcoming sermon series on the Kingdom of God to explore this topic in more depth.
Intercession is standing between God and man to mediate on their behalf. It involves pleading with God to avert wrath and see situations from His perspective. Jesus is the ultimate intercessor, standing as the mediator between God and humanity. The document provides biblical examples of leaders who interceded, such as Moses, Samuel, Daniel, Nehemiah, Ezra and David. It argues that intercession is critical today, especially for leaders and those in authority.
Sunday September 28 morning lesson with Wayne Cornwell. "The Path to Serenity" is the final lesson in the #relentlesspursuit of peace series. Listen in and join us next Sunday when we unveil October's theme!
This document is a sermon about living according to the principles of God's kingdom. It discusses having the right priorities, purpose, and perspective in life. The sermon examines Jesus' teachings about who is blessed and who will face woe. While wealth itself is not problematic, the sermon argues that our attitude toward wealth must be one of trusting God, not money. The overall message is that to live rightly, we must seek God, serve his kingdom, and be secure in him rather than living for earthly things.
This document discusses human weaknesses and bad habits that can hinder God's work. It notes that Moses' uncontrolled anger destroyed the stone tablets God had made. Other sins like rejection of Jesus can rob us of God's blessings, as Moses' anger prevented him from entering the Promised Land. To be ready to present ourselves before God, we must confess our sins, remove distractions from ourselves, and diligently work on our thoughts, emotions, and actions so that our spirit, soul, and body are cleansed and in submission to God.
It is not good enough just to quit a bad habit but the now old bad habit must be replaced with a new and positive habit. Jesus explains this principle in Matthew 12:43-45.

Discouragement is a personal and very pesky obstacle to service. In today’s message we will visit a Biblical hero who learned how to be delivered from discouragement.
The document summarizes Moses' accomplishments as a leader for the Israelites including leading them out of Egypt, splitting the Red Sea, receiving the 10 Commandments from God, and fighting off the Amalekites with God's help. It then discusses how pastors and spiritual leaders are simply human despite their roles, noting they have weaknesses and are not perfect. It encourages supporting leaders through prayer, encouragement, and forgiveness to help them continue in their duties.
God, through His grace, calls believers to eternal glory in Christ Jesus. After suffering for a time, God will perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle believers. God graciously gives believers a new heart and puts His Spirit within them, enabling them to walk in His ways. Believers cannot claim to deserve God's love and salvation, yet God passionately loves even insignificant humans. God's grace is received with gratitude.

The document contains excerpts from 1 Timothy chapters 1 and 2. In 1 Timothy 1:1-3, Paul introduces himself as an apostle of Christ and urges Timothy to command people not to teach false doctrines in Ephesus. In 1 Timothy 1:12-19, Paul recounts how he was shown mercy by God despite being a blasphemer and persecutor, and how Christ saved him to be an example for believers. Paul commands Timothy in 1 Timothy 1:18-19 to fight well by holding onto faith and conscience, as some have suffered shipwreck by rejecting these.

Who is God? what is God’s appearance today? Is it God’s word, is it the Bible? But how do we view God’s word? Is it the same as looking at what the world says?
Let’s study from the Bible, how God’s role is in the world today. We can know that if there is no God’s word, we cannot be born or live in this world. God’s word is the criterion of our life, and how we should use God’s word Lead into our lives, from individuals to groups, and finally to the world, let us lift up the word of God and illuminate this dark world
The document is a 7-week Bible reading plan focused on 10 themes in the weeks leading up to Easter: forgiveness, repentance, celebration, solitude, prayer, obedience, and meditation. It provides short daily Bible passages on each theme along with instructions to read the passage slowly, reflect on words or ideas that stand out, and share them with God. The goal is to let the words sink deep into one's heart and transform their view of God as they draw closer to Jesus in the weeks before Easter.
Mixed signals are caused by not listening well, making assumptions, and being in environments that promote confusion. This leads to confusion, chaos, and potential condemnation. To avoid this, we must send the right signals by building good habits at home through training, enforcement of boundaries, and leading exemplary lives through our conversations and good works that glorify God.
This document contains several Bible verses that relate to appreciating and supporting pastors for their spiritual work and leadership. The verses discuss obeying and submitting to pastors who watch over souls and preach the gospel (Hebrews 13:17), esteeming pastors highly for their work (1 Thessalonians 5:12-13), ordaining that preachers receive support (1 Corinthians 9:14), and giving pastors to feed people with knowledge and understanding (Jeremiah 3:15).
This document discusses the roles and responsibilities of elders in the church. It states that elders are to provide direction, discipline, discipleship, and oversight to the congregation as spiritual leaders appointed by God. The document outlines what church members should expect from their elders, including leadership, teaching sound doctrine, and settling disputes. It also outlines what elders can expect from church members in return, including submission, protecting unity, and taking ownership of the church's vision. The overall message is that elders and congregation members have mutual responsibilities to each other and the church body.
The document discusses the importance and benefits of studying the Bible. It quotes several historical figures emphasizing their belief in the Bible. It then lists several reasons for studying the Bible, including: to know Christ, have eternal life, profit through doctrine, reproof, correction and instruction, find comfort and joy, develop faith and hope, and know one's heart and convictions.
Though the supreme court ruled in a way that is against the teaching of the bible we must not lose heart! The Gospel is still the power to save all those who will come.

The sermon discusses the importance of regularly partaking in the Lord's Supper based on examples from the Bible. It notes that Jesus commanded his followers to do this in remembrance of him. The early church met together on Sundays, the Lord's day, to worship which included breaking bread or communion. Early Christian documents like the Didache and writings by Justin Martyr also reference meeting on Sundays for communion. The sermon encourages believers to faithfully observe this practice.

Astronism, Cosmism and Cosmodeism: the space religions espousing the doctrine...Cometan
This lecture created by Brandon Taylorian (aka Cometan) specially for the CESNUR Conference held Bordeaux in June 2024 provides a brief introduction to the legacy of religious and philosophical thought that Astronism emerges from, namely the discourse on transcension started assuredly by the Cosmists in Russia in the mid-to-late nineteenth century and then carried on and developed by Mordecai Nessyahu in Cosmodeism in the twentieth century. Cometan also then provides some detail on his story in founding Astronism in the early twenty-first century from 2013 along with details on the central Astronist doctrine of transcension. Finally, the lecture concludes with some contributions made by space religions and space philosophy and their influences on various cultural facets in art, literature and film.
The pervasiveness of Lying in today's World.pptxniwres
In our interconnected world, lies weave through the fabric of society like hidden threads. We encounter them in politics, media, personal relationships, and even within ourselves. The prevalence of deception raises profound questions about truth, trust, and the human condition.
Introduction
Mantra Yoga is an exact science. "Mananat trayate iti mantrah- by the Manana (constant thinking or recollection) of which one is protected or is released from the round of births and deaths, is Mantra." That is called Mantra by the meditation (Manana) on which the Jiva or the individual soul attains freedom from sin, enjoyment in heaven and final liberation, and by the aid of which it attains in full the fourfold fruit (Chaturvarga), i.e., Dharma, Artha, Kama and Moksha. A Mantra is so called because it is achieved by the mental process.

Lucid Dreaming: Understanding the Risks and Benefits
The ability to control one's dreams or for the dreamer to be aware that he or she is dreaming. This process, called lucid dreaming, has some potential risks as well as many fascinating benefits. However, many people are hesitant to try it initially for fear of the potential dangers. This article aims to clarify these concerns by exploring both the risks and benefits of lucid dreaming.
The Benefits of Lucid Dreaming
Lucid dreaming allows a person to take control of their dream world, helping them overcome their fears and eliminate nightmares. This technique is particularly useful for mental health. By taking control of their dreams, individuals can face challenging scenarios in a controlled environment, which can help reduce anxiety and increase self-confidence.
Addressing Common Concerns
Physical Harm in Dreams Lucid dreaming is fundamentally safe. In a lucid dream, everything is a creation of your mind. Therefore, nothing in the dream can physically harm you. Despite the vividness and realness of the dream experience, it remains entirely within your mental landscape, posing no physical danger.
Mental Health Risks Concerns about developing PTSD or other mental illnesses from lucid dreaming are unfounded. As soon as you wake up, it's clear that the events experienced in the dream were not real. On the contrary, lucid dreaming is often seen as a therapeutic tool for conditions like PTSD, as it allows individuals to reframe and manage their thoughts.
Potential Risks of Lucid Dreaming
While generally safe, lucid dreaming does come with a few risks as well:
Mixing Dream Memories with Reality Long-term lucid dreamers might occasionally confuse dream memories with real ones, creating false memories. This issue is rare and preventable by maintaining a dream journal and avoiding lucid dreaming about real-life people or places too frequently.
Escapism Using lucid dreaming to escape reality can be problematic if it interferes with your daily life. While it is sometimes beneficial to escape and relieve the stress of reality, relying on lucid dreaming for happiness can hinder personal growth and productivity.
Feeling Tired After Lucid Dreaming Some people report feeling tired after lucid dreaming. This tiredness is not due to the dreams themselves but often results from not getting enough sleep or using techniques that disrupt sleep patterns. Taking breaks and ensuring adequate sleep can prevent this.
Mental Exhaustion Lucid dreaming can be mentally taxing if practiced excessively without breaks. It’s important to balance lucid dreaming with regular sleep to avoid mental fatigue.
Lucid dreaming is safe and beneficial if done with caution. It has many benefits, such as overcoming fear and improving mental health, and minimal risks. There are many resources and tutorials available for those interested in trying it.
Lição 12: João 15 a 17 – O Espírito Santo e a Oração Sacerdotal | 2° Trimestr...OmarBarrezueta1
The Book of Revelation, filled with symbolic and apocalyptic imagery, presents one of its most striking visions in Revelation 9:3-12—the locust army. Understanding the significance of this locust army provides insight into the broader themes of divine judgment, protection, and the ultimate triumph of God’s will as depicted in Revelation.
