What Teacher am I?
If I were to define , the type teacher I am , I would say that I am organized , open-
minded and responsive teacher to my students. As well as a kind and open hearted teacher. As
someone who is teaching young children it is important to have these types of characteristics
imbedding with in me. Students need a teacher who shows companion and admiration towards
them.
My strengths as an individual would be well represented in my teaching ability. I am
able to stay organized and mange my time well. As a teacher I need to be able to have all my
material well prepared before a lesson.
As someone who is a hands on learner, I would apply this to the way that my activities
are formatted. I would prepared learning experiences where the children are engaging in a
sensory experience. They are not just listening to me explain something but actually being able
to experience it. For example, if I am teaching a lesson about not lying to each other. I would
have the children play broken telephone. This exercise would allow them to actually practice
what they are doing instead of just hearing it.
An example of a unwanted or undesired teacher, would be someone who is disorganized,
does not care about their student and unenthusiastic. All these characteristic represent someone
who portrayed a negative connotation of a teacher. A disorganized teacher can make students
become confused and restless because they are unsure on what is expected. If students want
feedback they may not receive it at the time. A teacher who does not care about their students,
will have a hard time connecting with them on a personal level. This is important as you can get
ot know the children and become more familiar with them. Student can become easily
uninterested if they have a teacher who is unenergetic when teaching. As students we want
teachers who are excited about what they are teaching. This is key because children need to have.
