The Way of Holiness
The Way of Holiness
Isaiah 35 v.8 – 10 “And a highway will be
there; it will be called the Way of Holiness.
it will be for those who walk in that Way
only the redeemed will walk there
The Way of Holiness
Psalm 89 v.14/15 “Righteousness and
justice are the foundation of your throne;
love and faithfulness go before you.
Blessed are those who have learned to
acclaim you, who walk in the light of your
presence, O Lord.”
The Way of Holiness
• 1 Jn.1 v.7 “But if we walk in the light, as he is
in the light, we have fellowship with one
another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son,
purifies us from all sin.”
• Hebrews 4 v.16 “Let us then approach the
throne of grace with confidence, so that we
may receive mercy and find grace to help us
in our time of need.”
The Way of Holiness
• 2 Jn. v.5/6 “I am not writing you a new
command but one we had from the
beginning. I ask that we love one
another. And this is love: that we walk in
obedience to his commands. As you have
heard from the beginning, his command
is that we walk in love.”
The Way of Holiness
• Rom.1 v.17 “For in the gospel a
righteousness from God is revealed, a
righteousness that is by faith from first to
last, just as it is written: ‘The righteous
will live by faith.’”
• Rom.14 v.23b “everything that does not
come from faith is sin.”
The Way of Holiness
• Gal.5 v.6b “The only thing that counts is
faith expressing itself through love.”
• 1 Cor.8 v.9 “Be careful, however, that the
exercise of your freedom does not
become a stumbling block to the weak.”
The Way of Holiness
command certain men not to teach false
doctrines any longer nor devote themselves to
myths and endless genealogies. These promise
controversies rather than God’s work – which is
by faith.
The goal of this command is love, which comes
from a pure heart and a good conscience and a
sincere faith. Some have wandered away from
these and turned to meaningless talk. 1 Tim 1 v.3 - 6
Rom.13 “Let no debt remain outstanding
except the continuing debt to love one
another, for he who loves his fellow man
has fulfilled the law. The commandments,
‘Do not commit adultery,’ ‘Do not murder,’
‘Do not steal,’ ‘Do not covert,’ and
whatever other commandment there may
be, are summed up in this one rule: ‘Love
your neighbour as yourself.’ Love does no
harm to its neighbour. Therefore love is
the fulfilment of the law.”
No Stumbling Blocks
Rom.15 v.7 “Accept one another, then,
just as Christ accepted you, in order to
bring praise to God.”
Rom.14 v.1 “Accept him whose faith is
weak, without passing judgment on
disputable matters.”
No Stumbling Blocks
3b/4 “God has accepted him. Who are you
to judge someone else’s servant? To his
own master he stands or falls. And he will
stand, for the Lord is able to make him
stand.”
v.6/7 --- he – does so to the Lord
----- he gives thanks to God
whether we live or die, we belong to the
Lord
No Stumbling Blocks
v.10 --- You, then, why do you judge your
brother? Or why do you look down on
your brother? For we will all stand before
God’s judgement seat”
v.12 “each of us will give an account of
himself to God.”
No Stumbling Blocks
v.13 “Therefore let us stop passing
judgment on one another. Instead make
up your mind not to put any stumbling
block or obstacle in your brother’s way.”
v.16 “Do not allow what you consider
good to be spoken of as evil.”
No stumbling blocks
v.17/18 “For the kingdom of God is not a
matter of eating and drinking, but of
righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy
Spirit, because anyone who serves Christ in
this way is pleasing to God.”
Gal.3 v.11 “Clearly no-one is justified before
God by the law, because, ‘The righteous will
live by faith.’”
From stumbling block to corner stone
Rom.9 v.31 - 33 “but Israel, who pursued a
law of righteousness, has not attained it.
Why not? Because they pursued it not by
faith but as if it were by works. They
stumbled over the stumbling-stone. As it is
written: ‘See I lay in Zion a stone that causes
men to stumble and a rock that makes them
fall, and the one who trusts in him will never
be put to shame.’”
The Way of Holiness

leave you; never will I forsake you.’”
