What is a Social Group?
 A social group is formed when two or more individuals come together,
influence each other and interact frequently.
 Group membership gives a sense of belonging and each member has a position
and role within the group.
 Group members share goals or objectives and work together to achieve them.
 A group of two people is smallest social group is called Dyid.
 A group of three people is called a Triad.
Characteristics of Social Group:
 Two or more individuals
 Common purpose, goal, and understanding among the group members.
 Social interaction takes place between them.
 A sense of cooperation.

Primary group:
 These are the groups in which members interact closely, face-to-face, and
relationships are long lasting and based primarily on cooperation.
Secondary group:
 These groups are characterized by impersonal relationships among members.
They provide experiences that lack intimacy.
In-group:
 In-group refers to the group to which a person is a member.
 They have a sense of belonging to the group.

 Out-groups are the groups in which an individual is not a member.
 They do not feel a sense of belonging to these groups.

Reference group:
 The reference group is the group to which a person refers to evaluate
themselves.
 For instance, if some people from a group want to become member of
