Marfan syndrome - a detailed study ( all medical information )martinshaji
Marfan syndrome is an inherited disorder that affects connective tissue — the fibers that support and anchor your organs and other structures in your body. Marfan syndrome most commonly affects the heart, eyes, blood vessels and skeleton.
People with Marfan syndrome are usually tall and thin with disproportionately long arms, legs, fingers and toes. The damage caused by Marfan syndrome can be mild or severe. If your heart or blood vessels are affected, the condition can become life-threatening.
Treatment usually includes medications to keep your blood pressure low to reduce the strain on weakened blood vessels. Depending on the severity of your symptoms and the part of your body that's affected, surgery may be necessary.

Stroke and heart disease share common risk factors and underlying mechanisms. Hypertension (high blood pressure), high cholesterol levels, diabetes, obesity, and smoking are examples of risk factors that contribute to both heart disease and stroke. Additionally, certain heart conditions, such as atrial fibrillation, can directly increase the risk of stroke. Exploring this intricate relationship helps us recognize the importance of managing heart disease to prevent stroke. As per heart disease expert Dr. Ranjit Jagtap, heart disease can also directly cause or contribute to stroke in several ways, such as:

Stroke is a type of cardiovascular disease.
It affects the arteries leading to and within the
brain. A stroke occurs when a blood vessel
that carries oxygen and nutrients to the brain
is either blocked by a clot or bursts. When
that happens, part of the brain cannot get the
blood and oxygen it needs, so it starts to die.

Heart attack v/s cardiac arrest ❤ -medical information martinshaji
People often use these terms interchangeably, but they are not synonyms. A heart attack is when blood flow to the heart is blocked, and sudden cardiac arrest is when the heart malfunctions and suddenly stops beating unexpectedly. A heart attack is a “circulation” problem and sudden cardiac arrest is an “electrical” problem.

Lung Cancer: Artificial Intelligence, Synergetics, Complex System Analysis, S...Oleg Kshivets
RESULTS: Overall life span (LS) was 2252.1±1742.5 days and cumulative 5-year survival (5YS) reached 73.2%, 10 years – 64.8%, 20 years – 42.5%. 513 LCP lived more than 5 years (LS=3124.6±1525.6 days), 148 LCP – more than 10 years (LS=5054.4±1504.1 days).199 LCP died because of LC (LS=562.7±374.5 days). 5YS of LCP after bi/lobectomies was significantly superior in comparison with LCP after pneumonectomies (78.1% vs.63.7%, P=0.00001 by log-rank test). AT significantly improved 5YS (66.3% vs. 34.8%) (P=0.00000 by log-rank test) only for LCP with N1-2. Cox modeling displayed that 5YS of LCP significantly depended on: phase transition (PT) early-invasive LC in terms of synergetics, PT N0—N12, cell ratio factors (ratio between cancer cells- CC and blood cells subpopulations), G1-3, histology, glucose, AT, blood cell circuit, prothrombin index, heparin tolerance, recalcification time (P=0.000-0.038). Neural networks, genetic algorithm selection and bootstrap simulation revealed relationships between 5YS and PT early-invasive LC (rank=1), PT N0—N12 (rank=2), thrombocytes/CC (3), erythrocytes/CC (4), eosinophils/CC (5), healthy cells/CC (6), lymphocytes/CC (7), segmented neutrophils/CC (8), stick neutrophils/CC (9), monocytes/CC (10); leucocytes/CC (11). Correct prediction of 5YS was 100% by neural networks computing (area under ROC curve=1.0; error=0.0).
CONCLUSIONS: 5YS of LCP after radical procedures significantly depended on: 1) PT early-invasive cancer; 2) PT N0--N12; 3) cell ratio factors; 4) blood cell circuit; 5) biochemical factors; 6) hemostasis system; 7) AT; 8) LC characteristics; 9) LC cell dynamics; 10) surgery type: lobectomy/pneumonectomy; 11) anthropometric data. Optimal diagnosis and treatment strategies for LC are: 1) screening and early detection of LC; 2) availability of experienced thoracic surgeons because of complexity of radical procedures; 3) aggressive en block surgery and adequate lymph node dissection for completeness; 4) precise prediction; 5) adjuvant chemoimmunoradiotherapy for LCP with unfavorable prognosis.

Ethanol (CH3CH2OH), or beverage alcohol, is a two-carbon alcohol
that is rapidly distributed in the body and brain. Ethanol alters many
neurochemical systems and has rewarding and addictive properties. It
is the oldest recreational drug and likely contributes to more morbidity,
mortality, and public health costs than all illicit drugs combined. The
5th edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders
(DSM-5) integrates alcohol abuse and alcohol dependence into a single
disorder called alcohol use disorder (AUD), with mild, moderate,
and severe subclassifications (American Psychiatric Association, 2013).
In the DSM-5, all types of substance abuse and dependence have been
combined into a single substance use disorder (SUD) on a continuum
from mild to severe. A diagnosis of AUD requires that at least two of
the 11 DSM-5 behaviors be present within a 12-month period (mild
AUD: 2–3 criteria; moderate AUD: 4–5 criteria; severe AUD: 6–11 criteria).
The four main behavioral effects of AUD are impaired control over
drinking, negative social consequences, risky use, and altered physiological
effects (tolerance, withdrawal). This chapter presents an overview
of the prevalence and harmful consequences of AUD in the U.S.,
the systemic nature of the disease, neurocircuitry and stages of AUD,
comorbidities, fetal alcohol spectrum disorders, genetic risk factors, and
pharmacotherapies for AUD.

A group of cells along with an intercellular framework that performs a special type of function is called tissue. The
entire human body is made up of four types of tissues – Muscular, Epithelial, Neural and Connective. Each type of tissue
has a special function. Muscular tissue aids in movement, neural tissue responds to stimuli, epithelial tissue provides
the lining, and the most versatile of the lot – connective tissue which supports, cushions and links and maintains the
form of the body.
Marfan syndrome is an inherited disease that affects this connective tissue in the body. It is estimated to impact 1 in
every 5000 patients around the world. Since connective tissue is found all over the body, Marfan Syndrome has the
propensity to impact almost all systems. It is found to predominantly affect the heart, eyes, Skelton and blood vessels in
the human body. Today with the inputs from a leading heart specialist in Hyderabad Dr Alla Gopala Krishna Gokhale we
help you understand how this Marfan Syndrome affects the heart and let you know the

How Marfan Syndrome affects the heart?
The heart has three layers, namely epicardium, myocardium and endocardium and connective tissues make up certain
portions of these layers. It also plays a role in the blood vessels and valves of the heart which naturally are impacted by
the Marfan Syndrome.
The most common victim of Marfan Syndrome in the circulatory system is the Aorta, the primary blood vessel that
carries blood to the rest of the human body. The Marfan Syndrome may weaken this aorta leading to serious
complications like bulging the aortic walls, and enlarged aorta sometimes even causing the rapture of this blood
vessel. “In few cases, Marfan Syndrome may also cause heart valve problems that lead to leakage of the blood into the
heart”, says the best heart doctor in Hyderabad, Dr Alla Gopala Krishna Gokhale.

Heart problems & Symptoms of Marfan Syndrome:
Though Marfan Syndrome is a disease a patient is born with, it usually docent right away show up. In a few cases,
the symptoms may show up in the arms, legs, and toes. Unusual height (unlike hereditary), and crowded teeth are
some of the common signs in patients with Marfan Syndrome. That said, the impact of Marfan Syndrome on heart –
valves and vessels are harder to detect.
Treatment for heart complications caused by Marfan Syndrome:
It is estimated that more than 80% of the patients with Marfan Syndrome develop heart problems at some point in
their life. As soon as they are detected, a heart specialist monitors the severity of the condition and the right
treatment course is suggested for the patient. The treatment for heart complications caused by Marfan syndrome
usually includes medications, lifestyle changes, and even heart surgical procedures.
