A network bridge allows the combination of multiple networks into a single network, a process known as network bridging, which differs from routing as routing keeps networks independent. There are various types of bridging, including point-to-point and point-to-multipoint, which can be executed in both wired and wireless configurations. Wireless bridges are specifically used when segments of the network are wireless.
