There is nothing perfect in the world, including websites. One of the weak points of a web project can be an Error 404 Not Found page or simply “Page not found”.
This document provides a 4-step process for creating a custom 404 error page for a website:
1. Design the 404 page using an image editor and mockups.
2. Create an HTML file for the page and include navigation/search.
3. Add an .htaccess file directing 404 errors to the HTML page.
4. Upload files to the server and test by visiting invalid pages.
There are several potential structural issues that could be preventing a website from ranking well in search engines, even if on-page SEO best practices have been implemented. These include pages not being properly indexed, canonicalization issues, lack of incoming links, missing or improperly configured XML sitemap, site speed issues, use of Flash, and text displayed as images rather than HTML. The document provides steps to test for each issue and suggestions for how to discuss findings with one's web developer.
1) The document provides 20 tips for improving a website's search engine optimization (SEO) in order to rank higher in search engine results pages.
2) Key tips include thorough keyword research, optimizing page titles, headers and metadata, internal linking structure, using XML sitemaps and robots.txt files, engaging site visitors through comments and social media, and submitting the site to search engines and directories.
3) Regularly updating content, fixing broken links, and creating customized 404 pages can also help improve SEO rankings.
The 404 error page is displayed when a client requests a page that is not present on the site. It indicates that either a link was wrong or the page was recently deleted. The 404 error is an HTTP standard response code meaning "Not Found" and shows that the server could not find the requested page, unlike a "Server Not Found" error where no connection was made. Web servers will generally issue a 404 HTML page with the code and phrase, but a custom 404 page can be designed and include a link back to the site.
how to optimize your 404 error page - Helen InnesHelen Innes
A 404 error page is displayed when a webpage cannot be accessed. It is important to optimize this page so visitors are not lost to the site. An optimized 404 page should include links to other important pages like the homepage, contact page, or FAQ page. It should also include a search box and list of top posts to help visitors find what they are looking for within the site. Optimizing the 404 page with these elements helps search engines continue properly indexing the site and helps prevent loss of visitors.
Error 404 pages occur when a requested page cannot be found on a website. This can negatively impact visitors and SEO. There are several common causes for 404 errors on WordPress sites, including invalid URLs, caching issues, DNS problems, and theme/plugin conflicts. To fix 404 errors on WordPress, site owners can reset permalinks, restore the .htaccess file, and disable themes and plugins to identify the source of the problem. 5th Power Grid Model Meet-up
It is with great pleasure that we extend to you an invitation to the 5th Power Grid Model Meet-up, scheduled for 6th June 2024. This event will adopt a hybrid format, allowing participants to join us either through an online Mircosoft Teams session or in person at TU/e located at Den Dolech 2, Eindhoven, Netherlands. The meet-up will be hosted by Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e), a research university specializing in engineering science & technology.
Power Grid Model
The global energy transition is placing new and unprecedented demands on Distribution System Operators (DSOs). Alongside upgrades to grid capacity, processes such as digitization, capacity optimization, and congestion management are becoming vital for delivering reliable services.
Power Grid Model is an open source project from Linux Foundation Energy and provides a calculation engine that is increasingly essential for DSOs. It offers a standards-based foundation enabling real-time power systems analysis, simulations of electrical power grids, and sophisticated what-if analysis. In addition, it enables in-depth studies and analysis of the electrical power grid’s behavior and performance. This comprehensive model incorporates essential factors such as power generation capacity, electrical losses, voltage levels, power flows, and system stability.
Power Grid Model is currently being applied in a wide variety of use cases, including grid planning, expansion, reliability, and congestion studies. It can also help in analyzing the impact of renewable energy integration, assessing the effects of disturbances or faults, and developing strategies for grid control and optimization.
What to expect
For the upcoming meetup we are organizing, we have an exciting lineup of activities planned:
-Insightful presentations covering two practical applications of the Power Grid Model.
-An update on the latest advancements in Power Grid -Model technology during the first and second quarters of 2024.
-An interactive brainstorming session to discuss and propose new feature requests.
-An opportunity to connect with fellow Power Grid Model enthusiasts and users.

Introduction of Cybersecurity with OSS at Code Europe 2024Hiroshi SHIBATA
I develop the Ruby programming language, RubyGems, and Bundler, which are package managers for Ruby. Today, I will introduce how to enhance the security of your application using open-source software (OSS) examples from Ruby and RubyGems.
The first topic is CVE (Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures). I have published CVEs many times. But what exactly is a CVE? I'll provide a basic understanding of CVEs and explain how to detect and handle vulnerabilities in OSS.
Next, let's discuss package managers. Package managers play a critical role in the OSS ecosystem. I'll explain how to manage library dependencies in your application.
I'll share insights into how the Ruby and RubyGems core team works to keep our ecosystem safe. By the end of this talk, you'll have a better understanding of how to safeguard your code.

How to create customized 404 page ?
Comparison : Default vs Customized 404 Page
2. What is a 404 error?
A 404 page is what a user sees when they try
to reach a non-existent page on your site
(because they’ve clicked on a broken link,
the page has been deleted or they’ve
mistyped a URL). When 404 error occurs in
your website that means it will cause the
problem when audience visits the website.
3. How 404 error occurs?
One of the leading causes of 404s is broken links.
It happens when site visitors type in the wrong URL.
Websites name changed.
The page you are looking for has been removed or its temporarily
unavailable.
4. What is the solution ?
A 404 page can also be a standard HTML page, So we can customize it the way we want. Some
huge websites can acquire up to 10 new broken links every day. You will never be able to
eliminate 404s completely but there are some suggestions using which you can control :
Tell visitors clearly that the page they're looking for can't be found.
Make sure that 404 page looks the rest of your site.
Add links to your site's homepage.
Add links of your popular blogs or articles.
5. How to add customized 404 pages ?
You can create customized 404 pages by including whatever information we
would like to share with visitors who encounter 404 .
You can add links of your popular blogs , articles or websites homepage.
Make sure your 4o4 page looks same as the rest of your website .
