This document is a collection of quotes from various sources over a 150 year period expressing skepticism about students' dependence on and use of new educational technologies from slates and chalk, to paper, ink, pens, calculators, computers, the internet, and eventually mobile devices. Each expresses doubt that the new technology will last or that students will need or be allowed to use it, with many arguing the technology will hinder students' learning and abilities to function without it. The recurring theme is educators consistently expressing skepticism about new educational technologies throughout history that are now widely adopted.
