8. Matthew 10:38
• Matthew 10:38-39…turn with me please…
• The burden that Jesus disciples must bear, entailing any
sacrifice they must make to be faithful to the Lord. Bearing
a cross could even mean martyrdom!
• Luke 9:23—If any man will come after me, let him deny
himself, and take up his cross “Daily” (emp. BB)

9. Matthew 10:39
• Findings one’s life has to do with self-preservation. and
self-satisfaction (Rev. 2:10 & Hebrews 10:39). If one lives
for himself, he will be separated form God eternally! That
means you will lose your soul!
• In contrast, one who dies to his own desires
(Philippians 3:8)—even giving his life in martyrdom
(Acts 7) will live with God forever. The willingness to
make any sacrifice (Gen. 22) in order to enter heaven is
the disposition to be sought (Matt 19:27; Hebrews 12:1-2).

10. Matthew 10:39
• The person who gives his or her life without any
reservation to things of this world in full pursuit of the will
of God. In an effort to be more like Christ.
• Galatians 2:20—I have been crucified with Christ; it is no
longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I
now live in the flesh, I live by faith in the Son go God, who
loved me and gave Himself for me.
• Galatians 2:21—I do not set aside the grace of God; for if
righteousness comes through the law, then Christ, died in
vain.
