Jesus Christ came to earth primarily to redeem his people from eternal death through his atoning work. Atonement refers to what Christ did through his life and death to earn salvation for humanity. The document argues that atonement was limited only to God's chosen elect people, not all of humanity. It provides biblical references to suggest God chose a limited number of souls to belong to his kingdom before creation, and that Christ's death on the cross was sufficient only to save this elect group that God foreknew and predestined for salvation.

2. Atonement is the work that Jesus Christ came to
do on the earth and primarily it was to come to
redeem His people from the eternal death. Others
like Wayne Grudem have defined atonement as
the work Christ did in his life and death to earn
our salvation

3. Have you ever thought a little
deeper about whom Jesus Christ
really died for?

4. A little history aboutman and why
the need for Atonement;

5. In the beginning when God had created the
human race when you read Genesis 2:16-17,
the Lord God commanded man to keep His
Word unfortunately, as a result of the
freewill that God placed on man, man chose
to disobey God in Genesis 3:6. The result of
disobedience led to man’s fall, and man’s
choice distorted the perfect relationship that
existed between God and man

6. As a result of this sad news
concerning Humanity, humanity
became hopeless and helpless for
what was lost was a relationship
between the maker who is God and
his creation namely humanity

7. Man needed to get to reconcile with God
but reconciliation process needed a perfect
mediator that would stand in between God
and man. And it was found that in Genesis
again chapter 3:15 that Jesus Christ was the
promised mediator that would bring hope
and reconciliation to the people of whom
God chose to save from the eternal
separation of man from God.

8. Now that Jesus Christ came and died, for whom did He really die for?
Was it for the entire human race or for a particular people?

9. It is God who has chosen the people that make up
His family in other words God has a limited number
of people or souls which are belonging in His own
kingdom and out of the number of all humanity is
found the elect people who are saved, getting
saved, and those who will be saved. It is for this
reason that the extent to which Christ Jesus died for
is for those that are chosen by God Himself

10. The extent of atonement of Christ Jesus is that the
death on the cross of Calvary was and is sufficient to
save the ones that are chosen by God; the ones that are
foreknown even before the foundation of the world, and
Ephesians 1:3-5 indicates to us this blessing which God
has poured on the elect.

11. Not all will be saved even though both
believers and non-believers are living together
on the earth waiting for the time to come when
all the believers get saved. While this time of
the end is about to come, both the believers
and the non-believers are enjoying the
blessings of living on the sin-marred world but
that blessing which is the common grace one
does not mean that all humanity will be
eternally saved it is only the elect who will be
saved and they will be saved because Jesus
Christ alone paid in full the death penalty for
them on the cross.

12. The work of atonement therefore, is
not the work of man but of God alone
and, while the death of the Lord Jesus
Christ is available to all human kind its
power to save extends only to those
whom God has elected unconditionally
before creation.
